Chapter Five- Give Me A Reason (Part One)

As he waited outside patiently while the doctors checked Marinette for any other injuries besides the wound on her stomach, he paced back and forth nervously. Pulling at his hair trying to figure out his next move.

Of course it'd be too early to call their friends but he wasn't sure how'd that go. The explanation he'd had to give or the lies he had to tell without telling the truth about Marinette could have consequences. He knew that when he drove like a mad man to the hospital.

Thanks to Tikki, her injuries had became minor, even still, he barely paid attention to the road and focused on his partner.

Everything was for his partner.

So he sighed, pulling out his phone and dialed Nino's number.

He hoped everyone else would have forgotten what occurred at the birthday party, Chloe and Nino looked sober enough to know just about enough of it.

Adrien drew in a deep breath as his mind and thoughts began racing through possibilities of what he could and can't do. Nothing wasn't enough for him, not putting Luka behind bars, not even his life getting ruined. With Jagged Stone as his father, it's possible they could've heard his side of the story, clearly lying for the sake of himself.

The blond had hoped deeply for Juleka to speak up and help him tell everyone what she had already known.

He sat down as the phone rang and tapped his foot countless times. "Adrien...?"

"Nino! Thank god. I need you to come to the hospital. Bring Alya and Chloe with you. It's Marinette." He vaguely explained and hang up before the DJ had a chance to answer.

The only path he could choose was this. Calling in help from his friends who he, no doubt, were the other miraculous holders that he recently met. But that was another issue that can be hold off until he figured out what he could do to the two-timing lying snake he once recognized as a friend.

The doctors came out of the room, dragging Adrien away from his thoughts and explained the condition the young designer was in. They asked him a couple of questions and he did his best not to tell the full truth. A "bar fight" got out of hand or even an "accident" occurred to which she received such injuries.

They merely smiled and walked down the hall, the blond looked into the room and sighed before stepping in.

"Nino, where are we going?"

"We're picking up Chloe then heading for the hospital. Marinette woke up." He informed, turning down the corner and headed toward Le Grand Paris where the famous daughter resided.

Alya glanced out the window with teary eyes, "He disappeared for days, Nino..I was so worried about her. I..I think i have an idea what happened but I just-"

"Hey." Nino interrupted, grabbing her chin gently and planted a soft kiss onto her lips, calming her nerves down. "Don't worry. I'm sure he'll explain everything. He has to." She nodded and sighed, interlocking her fingers within his and they pulled up into the parking lot of Le Grand Paris and called the blonde.

"Chloe, come down. We gotta go see Adrien and Mari." He said as they waited for the girl to gather her things and met them outside.

Clearly neither of them knew what was going to come out of this hospital visit. But they knew sooner or later, something was going to go extremely wrong and all they can do is hope for the better.

And hope they know who's side to stand on.

Or this just might be taken to a forgotten enemy's advantage.

He laughed light-heartedly as he held onto her hand. "I'm glad you're feeling better, Netty."

"Still hurts like hell though. I'm so stupid." She looked away, tears forming and bit her lip frustrated.

Adrien stood up and kissed her forehead, smiling slightly as her cheeks burned red and he sat down. Sapphire eyes meeting emerald as they both held loving smiles and shared tears. "You're actually very brave, Netty. The most..bravest girl I know."

Before Marinette could say another word, the curtain opened. "Marinette?" Her bestfriend quietly muttered as tears streamed down her face, fogging up her glasses. "Marinette!"

She ran over beside the designer and enveloped her into a hug. As the two hugged and cried, Adrien stepped out with Nino and Chloe with determination on his face.

He leaned against the wall, looking down at the floor with his arms crossed. "We need to talk and we can't tell either of them anything until we know for sure what we're dealing with here."

"What do you mean?" Chloe asked as she glanced into the room and a small smile formed onto her lips.

"Luka. We need to do something about Luka."

As he explained the situation and somewhat explained what happened at the party, they both nodded and understood. The plan was fairly easy in most cases, the classic investigation of a case to be brought into the police station later when they're sure was in session. The three obviously felt bad for keeping a secret from their dearest friends in the room behind them but they knew this would be a good thing for not only them but for her. The girl who had been suffering and they had known nothing about.

Adrien sighed with worry, just how much has she been hiding? Covering up her pain with laughs and smiles and that bubbly personality she held? He cursed at himself for not noticing a change sooner.

Then everything clicked.

The late arrivals to patrol.

Her excuses for missing events and hang outs.

The sudden change in clothes, not even her usual outfit but clothing that can hide anything and everything at the same time.

He knew she loved him. There was moments where she meet them with her eyes sparkling and a wide smile filled with love. Adrien knew she ha such strong feelings for the blue haired boy but he hoped so bad that her love for him faded out. Just enough to realize she needed to be saved?

The model glanced at his knuckles, bruises that formed after the fight he had with Luka but only shook it off and shoved his hands into his pockets.

None of that mattered now, what mattered was his friend, his partner.

And no one knew the lengths he'd go to just to keep her safe.
