Hi. New chapter. I gave up on the rotation thing, because I love this story too much to bother, but that means you get another chapter so... win win? Anyways, hope you enjoy, this was really fun and I am finding writing Annabeth and Clarisse as kids to be super adorable :)
Read and review as always, hope you enjoy.
Disclaimer: No, I am still not Rick Riordan. Thanks for checking in.
"Clarisse? Are you there?" Annabeth stuck her head out from behind the bush, and upon seeing Clarisse standing in the small clearing she stepped out.
Clarisse turned around to face the daughter of Athena, a look in her eyes that Annabeth couldn't quite put a finger on.
"Don't tell anyone. Please," Clarisse said, eyebrows bunched together in worry.
"I won't."
"Absolutely no one. If he finds out that someone else knows-"
"Clarisse, I'm not going to tell anyone. You don't need to worry," Annabeth said firmly.
Clarisse let out the breath that she'd been holding. "Thanks."
Annabeth sat down on the forest floor, gesturing for Clarisse to do the same. She did, sitting across from Annabeth. Neither of them quite knew what to say, the sounds of the birds in the trees suddenly louder than before.
After a minute Annabeth broke the silence, reiterating her previous question. "Why do you listen to him?"
"I don't really have a choice." Clarisse said. It was strange to her, talking to someone else about it.
"What happens if you don't?"
Clarisse scowled for no apparent reason, or so it seemed until she spoke. "I… don't know. He never actually said…"
"Have you tried not listening?" Annabeth asked, collecting as much information as possible. In her mind she was like a detective solving her very first mystery. In reality… well, that's exactly what she was.
Clarisse's scowl deepened. "No."
Annabeth's unspoken 'Why?' hung in the air.
Under her breath Clarisse muttered "I didn't want to find out…"
Annabeth paused, going over the information in her head.
Ares is forcing Clarisse to be a mean, bully persona. Ares is holding vague threats over her head. We don't know what these threats are or whether Ares will actually act on them.
Abruptly, she spoke again. "Meet me here tomorrow, same time. I need to think about this."
Clarisse nodded. "Please-"
"I'm not telling anyone Clarisse. Don't worry."
Annabeth knew that was a lie. In fact, the sun had just started to set, and she needed to get to the beach.
Bit shorter than the other ones, but it got some stuff done, so there's that. Again, read and review (it makes my day) and thanks for sticking with me :)
Bye peoples!
