"Excuse me, Idie?" Broo called to his friend as he threaded his way through the crowd of partying students, trying to balance Jubilee's baby in his arms. Maybe he should have thought to bring the stroller, but he honestly hadn't imagined things being this crowded.
"Jubilee asked you to babysit for her? Want me to take him for a minute?" Idie asked.
"Please. I might have underestimated his size slightly." Broo told her. "Have you seen Dr. McCoy? I have a question about the essay for his class." Broo said as he handed over Shogo.
"The essay on the circulatory system?" Evan asked as he came over. "I had a question on that too." He looked around the room. "I don't see Dr. McCoy anywhere though."
"I think he went out with the other teachers." Idie told them.
"Are you sure?" Broo asked a bit puzzled. "Because Agent Brand came a few hours ago, and she brought a bag with her. I don't think she was planning to go out." Honestly, he was a little puzzled that Dr. McCoy had agreed to watch the school with Agent Brand there.
"Agent Brand was here? Are you sure?" Idie asked. "I thought I heard someone saying they had heard she had a date with Dr. McCoy that got canceled."
"That might explain why he seemed so upset in psychology class." Evan said. "But she was here?"
Broo nodded. "I saw the ship that dropped her off and it left so Agent Brand definitely should still be here." He looked around the room again, searching for any sign of the green haired agent or Dr. McCoy.
That did sound odd. "Did you check his room?" Idie suggested. Although if Dr. McCoy and Agent Brand were here, shouldn't they be downstairs supervising the party? Or more likely breaking up the party. "I'll keep an eye on Shogo while you check."
"I'll check the lab while you check his room." Evan offered. "I'm sure they're in one of those places."
A few minutes later, Evan was back. "They're not in the lab." He told Idie.
"Who's not in the lab?" Quentin Quire said as he came over, frowning at the sight of the baby. "Lee actually left her kid here? She's starting failing at parenthood early."
"She got Broo to babysit. It's fine." Idie said. "Quentin, have you seen Dr. McCoy anywhere?"
"He was ticked about his date getting canceled." Quire said. "He's probably drowning his sorrows wherever the rest of the teachers took off to. Why?"
"Broo was looking for him, and someone must have gotten mixed up about that date being canceled because Broo said he saw Agent Brand being dropped off a little while ago." Idie told him. "And he didn't think she left again."
"Brand's hère?" Quentin said. Had everyone been wrong about the teachers going off and not leaving anyone in charge? He'd been kind of suspicious about that to begin with, but If McCoy was supposed to be watching them and Brand was there…. "Either sex ed is going to be canceled for the rest of the semester or we're going to find a blue, furry rug somewhere."
"Dr. McCoy isn't in his room." Broo called as he hurried in. "Agent Brand's bag is still there, though, and I'm afraid I spotted some signs the Danger Room protocols might have been activated. Were they in the lab?" He hoped they hadn't been injured somehow. No, they were both highly capable, he knew. He was sure they were fine but where were they? "Friend Quentin, would you have happened to see Dr. McCoy or Agent Brand this evening?"
"Didn't Dr. McCoy leave with all of the other teachers?" Rockslide said as he came over.
"That was kind of weird, though, wasn't it?" Iara came over to join them. "I mean the last time that all of the teachers left, it was because they had been kidnapped by Frankenstein's Circus, but do they normally go off and leave students unsupervised?"
"Agent Brand came a few hours ago. I don't think that they left again." Broo told them. A circus? That was obviously something he had missed. "You don't think they could have been kidnapped by a circus, do you? I don't think that Agent Brand would like to be in a circus."
"Agent Brand was here? I thought that their date got canceled." Rockslide said.
"Dr. McCoy's date?" Anole said. "He was upset in psychology class about something being canceled, but didn't he say the show they were going to was canceled? Even, did he say it was the show or the entire date?"
"He did say the show." Evan said after thinking for a moment. But had the other teachers made the mistake that it seemed most of them had at first, assuming the entire date was canceled? "I think someone made a mistake someplace. I think Dr. McCoy was supposed to be in charge and he doesn't know he was supposed to be watching the school."
"Quentin, can you see if you can find them?" Idie asked. Even if he didn't know that he was supposed to be in charge, surely he couldn't have missed the noise the party was making.
"Who are you looking for?" Trevor asked.
"Dr. McCoy and Agent Brand." Broo told him.
"I don't know about Agent Brand, but I haven't seen Dr. McCoy anywhere." Trevor said. "I wasn't looking, but I don't think I would have missed him if he was here somewhere. Did he really move his date here?"
"They're going to have to cancel Sex Ed for sure." Quentin said. Brand was actually here, and McCoy didn't know he was the only teacher present, he could only imagine what those two were getting up to.
"Quentin, can you see if you can find them?" Idie asked again. "Because Broo thinks the Danger Room stuff might have gotten turned on and…."
"I am getting a note to skip Sex Ed for this." Quentin said, but he did what Idie asked, scanning the school grounds the way that he had when all of the teachers had ended up in the circus. "The lake? What are they….."
"They're at the lake?" Iara said, turning her head to look out a window with a frown. "What are they doing at the lake in this weather?"
"Getting Sex Ed canceled?" Quentin said, and then frowned slightly. He could detect something else out there too, something that didn't feel quite human. That was weird.
Trevor hurried to the window and looked out, hoping he was looking in the direction of the lake. He narrowed a few of his eyes as he scanned the dark night. "There's something out there, something weird." And then he could see some movement that he thought could be the missing couple. "There they are. I think. But it looks like Agent Brand is maybe dragging something."
"We should go and help!" Broo said with a worried look at the other students. Had the Danger Room protocols accidentally caused some sort of injury?
"They're probably playing some sort of game." Quentin speculated. But it didn't seem like the others were listening to him, Idie handing Shogo off to another student before heading towards the door with the others. After a moment, Quentin followed, though. "I am definitely demanding to get out of Sex Ed after this!"
