Ash and Lisa made it in to Cerulean City by late afternoon. Some people on the street gave Ash a weird because of his muddy clothes. They were going to go to the Pokemon Center to tell Nurse Joy about the egg and how they found it. Ash was kind of hoping of getting to keep the egg and take care of the Pokemon inside. Within minutes they were in front of the Pokemon Center and stepping through the automatic doors in to the air conditioned building. They walked up the front desk and Nurse Joy was shocked by Ash's muddy jeans and shoes. "My Goodness what happened to you?" Ash and Lisa kind of laughed then got more serious and Ash said, " On our way here we saw what looked like the aftermath of a Pokemon Battle and we think it was Team Rocket attacking some Pokemon all that was left was a scrap of clothe and this egg." Ash gently showed it to her. The nurse took the egg carefully and told the two trainers that she was giving it to a Chansey to exam then she was going to give them each a room for the night.
With keys in hand Ash decided change his clothes and wash the dirty ones there was an open washer and dryer at the Pokemon Center. In a clean pair of jeans and slippers on his feet he made his back in to front of the center to continue talking to Lisa about what happened and his up coming Gym Battle. He sat down on the couch next to her. "Its been a long day huh?" Lisa asked. "Yeah," Ash agreed. He glanced toward the front desk and saw Nurse Joy talking to Officer Jenny, Lisa looked too. "Must be about what we saw." Ash nodded his head and hummed in agreement. Nurse Joy moved her hands toward the two trainers and Officer Jenny made over to them. They stood up, "excuse me did you two find an abandoned Pokemon egg at a possible Team Rocket attack?" They said yes and told her all they knew. She left after writing down their information. They were alone after that.
"So do you have any ideas on how you're going to beat Misty?" Ash asked. Lisa held two enlarged Poke balls, "yeah I have Sparky my Pikachu and Buzz my Beedrill. Misty's Starme is part psychic-type so Buzz should be able to handle it ok if not Sparky will have to finish off." Ash got a sad look thinking about his Pokemon. "Lily could probably do good but I don't think any of the others could do good right now." Lisa nodded in agreement. Then she brightened up with an idea, " hey we could go out to the abandoned power plant I heard its crawling with electric-types." Ash perked up, "that's a great idea."
Ash decided to check his laundry and grab his shoes, it was done so he put it away and with Lisa went up to the front desk. "How's the egg?" Ash asked, Nurse Joy smiled " its doing just fine and since you found it you get to keep it. Its ok with me and Officer Jenny that you take it. It was going to be adopted out any way." She put the now completely cleaned light blue egg which was inside an incubator on to the counter. Not knowing who should actually get it Ash and Lisa played rock, paper, scissors with Ash winning the game and the egg. Ash was able despite himself not to be a sore winner. He put the egg in his backpack and he and Lisa made their way to the cafeteria to eat then sleep for the night. It was a tiring day after all.
The next morning Ash was up bright and early ready for the new day. He and Lisa were going to the abandoned power plant to an electric-type he was hoping for an Electabuzz or something else strong. He met up with Lisa for breakfast then they walked out the door. As they walked Ash thought of something. " I just realized none of my Pokemon know any ground-type moves," Ash groaned out loud. Lisa sighed, "just check the Pokedex it should tell you." She pulled her own out of her pocket and typed in the information they needed. After going through the list they found out that Meowth and Rattata can learn Dig and Mud-Slap at least now Ash had a chance. They were back on their way out of the city and on to Route 10 toward the Power Plant.
They stopped a little ways from the Power Plant and Ash released Timpleton and Lucky. Once out they looked to their trainer to see what was going on. "Ok guys today we're going to try and an electric-type Pokemon but first I want you two to learn a couple ground-type moves so hopefully the battle and capture goes ok." Both Pokemon nodded their heads, they both pawed at the ground in anticipation of learning something new and the up coming battle. "Let's start with Dig then we'll work on Mud-slap."
Timpleton eagerly started digging in the dirt only after some hesitation and protest from Lucky about dirt getting stuck under her claws did she start and quickly deciding that it was fun.
When the sun was high over head and Timpleton and Lucky were covered in dirt and mud and the ground around them was littered with holes, Ash told them to take a break. They hopped out of their respective holes and stretched their sore muscles and collapsed on the ground to rest. Ash thought their moves were far from perfect but it they were getting there. Lucky needed to work on the popping out of the hole part better and Timpleton had an almost perfect Mud-Slap. By this time he had also let out Lily and Ray who were sunning themselves. Ash took his water bottle out and started to wash his two dirty Pokemon. Both were grateful for the help cleaning up especially Lucky.
After resting for a while they made their way to the Power Plant. On the horizon they could see it with broken widows and as they got closer the could see Pikachu scurrying through the overgrown grass. They got through the front door without much trouble, just they turned to walked further a Magnamite was floating in front of their faces. In a panic Lisa grabbed a Poke Ball from her bag and threw it towards the electric/Steel-type in a burst of red light the Pokemon got sucked in to the ball. It shook for a second then stopped signaling a successful capture. " Why'd you do that?" asked a wide-eyed Ash as Lisa picked up the ball. "I don't know I panicked but I guess its good to have a rotation going on my Pokemon, huh?" Ash nodded it made sense it him.
They continued down the dimly lit hallway only seeing more Megnamite and a few Voltob rolling around. The further they went the less they saw of any of the other Pokemon. They walked until they hit a dead end of a heavy looking wooden door that had been blown off its hinges. Very slowly Ash opened it to reveal what looked like an old office. The desk was turned on its side and covered in dust and there was broken glass picture frames on the cream colored carpet. But what made them stand still in shock was the Jolteon laying the old torn leather couch. It was nearly twice as big as a normal Jolteon and was looking at them with a curious look in its black eyes.
"Wow," they both whispered in awe of what they were seeing. Ash knew what he had to do this was the electric-type for him it was far too strong looking to pass up. He threw out Timpleton to see if he could poison it first. "Timpleton use Toxic on that Jolteon!" Ash shouted. The purple mouse let loose a purple sludge from his body covered the floor and a noxious gas rose up and effected both Pokemon. After poisoning the Jolteon it got down from its perch ready for a fight. Before Ash could give his Pokemon an order the giant Jolteon released a huge Thunder attack before he could get out of the way Timpleton was hit and paralyzed falling to the floor. Ash returned his Pokemon whispering thanks before releasing the remembered that Grass-types could resist electric attacks.
"Lily use Razor Leaf on that Jolteon!" She shot out a wave of leaves only the first handful hitting its target. After that the giant Jolteon used Agility to dodge the rest. "Use Vine Whip," was the next command. The twin vines shot out from her body she hit the electric-type over and over again until it had fainted. Thinking quickly Ash threw a Poke Ball at it. After being encased in red light it was sucked in to the ball. The ball wiggled around for a few minutes before finally stopping. Ash excitedly picked up the ball and shouted out, "Yes I caught a Jolteon!"
