Kimberly's Dream

The ballroom was beautiful sight. Huge pink banners were draped on the walls. Below the Balcony there was a white banner hanging up which read "Congratulations Kimberly on choosing Tommy as your future king," which was written in pink. Several big bouquets of white and pink roses were in vases with green ribbons tied around the vases where lined up on each side of the red carpet as people entered the ballroom.

Kimberly stood in front of the mirror staring at her new rose pink evening gown. Strapless, a straight across neckline, and backless. She even had rose pink dress gloves to wear with her dress. Her hair was just prefect and just the way she wanted it. It was curled and pinned up in sections with pink crystal heart sticks. Even her make up was prefect. Pink eye shadow, pink lip stick, and pink rouge.

Tommy walked over to the mirror and put his arm around her waist. And of course Kimberly couldn't forget her best friend, her date for tonight, her true love, and future king. No matter what the occasion, Tommy always looked handsome. But tonight, he looked like a prince. A black tux, a white dress shirt, and a green silk tie. His jacket was buttoned up to the cleavage level. And she couldn't forget his hair. She always loved to run her fingers through his brown shoulder-length hair. He wore it just the way she liked it best. A half-up ponytail.

"Are you ready to go, beautiful," Tommy asked as he held out his hand.

"You know I am," Kimberly purred taking hold of his hand. "I can't wait to show off my future king."

"And I can't wait for us to walk down the large staircase and be the first ones to dance," Tommy added as they walked out of her room. "We better get going. We are expected to be at the balcony in a few minutes."

Kimberly opened her eyes as she hears some bees buzzing around some flowers. A frog was resting next to her and it dawned on her. Tommy wished that they would both turn into frogs. He claimed that she was the cutest and most beautiful frog he had ever seen. But, he was her best friend and her true love. So, of course, he'd tell her that she was a good-looking frog. However, she hadn't seen herself as a frog. She had to know if she was a good-looking frog-like Tommy claimed she was. She hopped over to the spring and took a look at her reflection. And she saw herself as a regular frog. There was nothing cute or beautiful about other frogs and now that she was a frog she'd look ugly just like them. Green slimy skin, cold-blooded and gross. She took a closer look and saw she was still wearing the heart pendant that Tommy gave her.

"I knew it, he was just trying to cheer me up," Kimberly sighed as she looked back and saw Tommy was still sleeping. "That's just who he is."

She already hated because a frog for several reasons. Number one, she missed her princess announcement ball, a day she had looked forward to for a long time. Number two, she had to leave her kingdom. Number three, she couldn't wear clothes and couldn't get all dressed up like she always loved to do. Number four, she could not marry Tommy when she got older if they both remained frogs. And number five, she would have to live like a frog. Which meant she'd have to learn to eat flies.

... Tommy's dream...

The only thing Tommy was really aware of was the orchestra in the background in Kimberly in his arms, her head resting peacefully on his shoulders, the sweet scent of her perfume entrancing him. For all he cared he could be dancing on the clouds, he was so happy.

The music slowed to a stop, now was his chance, he had imagined doing this more times than he could count. He dipped Kimberly, lowered himself down as well, and pressed his lips against hers. After they broke apart Tommy led her off the dance floor as others filled it.

"I can't believe you did that," Kimberly muttered, shaking her head, "You kissed me in front of everybody."

"I've been wanting to do that for a long time," Tommy confessed, "But I had to wait for just the right time."

"I've always loved you," Kimberly confessed as the music for the next dance filled the air.

Tommy offered Kimberly his hand asking her for this dance...

A sharp noise startled Tommy awake, causing him to blink in confusion, it had just been a dream. He looked around and spotted Kimberly haunched over the spring, looking at her reflection, her green shoulders shaking as she sobbed.

"Kim," he called out, hopping over to her, "Are you alright?"

Kimberly pulled away from him, "No I'm not," she insisted, "I'm Gross, Slimy, and Cold-blooded."

"So am I," Tommy pointed out.

"I hate frogs, their disgusting," Kimberly announced, "And now I'm disgusting too."

Tommy snuggled up to her, "At least we're together, we could never have gotten away with this as humans."

"I still hated frogs, I couldn't touch them or anything," Kimberly insisted, pulling away from Tommy, "I mean, how can you stand touching me?"

"Kimberly," Tommy insisted, "Look we just got to keep going, everything is going to be okay."

"How do you know that, how can you know anything?"

"I'm with you, everything else doesn't matter as long as I have you," Tommy insisted, leaning forward and kissing Kimberly.

"Wow," Kimberly sighed as they finally broke for air, "That was amazing."

"I've been wanting to do that for the longest time," Tommy confessed, "I was planning to save our first kiss until after our first dance at the ball, but that didn't happen."

Kimberly giggled, rolling her eyes, "You don't say?" she asked sarcastically.

"Did a mention that I love you?" Tommy asked snuggling up to her.

Kimberly giggled again, "I love you too," she confessed, "And you are the only frog that I don't consider to be gross and slimy."
