The Gryffindor team was anxiously waiting for the commencing of their second task. Ron was pacingabout the length of the room with hand on his forehead mumbling something. On the other hand,Neville was sitting in the corner of the room looking scared. "Guys cheer up we will definitely winthis task too."- said Hermione who seemed little upset with her teammates. "Easy for you to saybook worm."- replied Ron who seemed annoyed. Hermione was just about to reply to Ron whenHarry stepped in and said, "Don't fight guys, this is crucial time and we need to stay united." BothRon and Hermione were calmed down by Harry.

After some time, Professor McGonagall came into the room. Neville stood up at once and all thefaces turned toward the Professor. "Well, Hope you all are ready. This is now your town. I have highhopes for you guys."- said Professor McGonagall. It was clear that she wanted her house to win. Sheinstructed them to follow her and they all followed her at once. Harry, Neville and Ron were verynervous while Hermione was the only one on the team who was confident. They entered a roomwhere they saw a big table was kept in the middle of the room on that table there were four itemshidden under a cloth. It was not clear what the actual things were. Professor McGonagall told themabout the marking scheme and the rules.

It was nearly dawn by the time task two of Gryffindor started. "So, for your transfiguration exam youhave to transform the following items into water goblets."- said Professor as she was ready toremove the clothe from the first item. "you will have only one try to transform and who will getwhich item depends on the Captain of the team. You will be judged on the basis of yourperformance."- said Professor. She removed the clothe from the first item. It was a book, not justregular book but the Monster Book of the Monsters. Ron gasped; Neville turned his face away fromthe book. The book was trying very hard to get itself free from the ropes through which it was tied tothe table. "Um, Professor, is it really safe to transform the book."- Said Ron looking very pale. "Noexcuses Mr. Weasley who said it was going to be easy."- replied Professor angrily. Hermioneelbowed Ron to shut up. Professor instructed Harry to uncover rest of the things. Harry uncoveredone by one. Under one clothe there was a spoon, other one had a plate but as soon as Harry reachedtowards the last one it suddenly jerked. Hermione gasped; Harry immediately retrieved his hands."Don't worry, it is just a moth."- said Professor. Hermione had a disgusting look on her face. Harryslowly reached out and uncovered the moth. It was not a regular moth but a large one. It was tryingreally hard to free itself and escape. But it was securely bounded to the table.

"Now, Harry chooses who will get which item. And please do it fats because you don't want to keepyour potion master waiting for too long."- said Professor McGonagall with clear tension on her face.Harry thought for a while and then said, "Neville will take the spoon, Ron will have the plate,Hermione the book sand I will take the moth." Ron was relived, Neville was also less scared now.Hermione had no expression. Overall, Harry was happy about his choices. "Very well, now pleasestart."- said professor. At once all four them rushed towards the table and stood front of each ofrespective items. Ron seemed confident he took out his wand, moved it in the air and said "VeraVerto" and boom a lot of smoke surrounded the plate and when it cleared there was a water gobletbut only thing odd was that it was made up of the same material as of plate. Ron looked sad. NowNeville went to transform his spoon. He brought his wand near the spoon and said the magic words.Spoon suddenly jerked and it flew in the air, transformed into a goblet but dropped onto the groundand shattered. Neville's smile faded; Ron was somehow happy now. "Excuse me Professor, will thatcount?"- whispered Neville with tears in his eyes. "We will see."- said professor in a comforting tone. Now it was Harry's turn. The moth was making a lot of movements but Harry was determined to winthe task. He hold the moth with his one hand which disgusted him but he wanted to keep it still.

Then he took out his wand, pointed it towards the moth and said, "Vera Verto." The moth jerked. Ittransformed into a perfect water goblet. The whole team was happy now to see a successfulattempt. Hermione who was also a little nervous now. She took out her wand and pointed it towardsthe book. The book growled in anger causing Neville to jump and shriek but it didn't affectedHermione a little bit. She waved her wand in the air and said the words. Suddenly, sparks came outof her wand and moved towards the book. The book growled and it trembled. Then it transformedinto a goblet, a perfect goblet.

Now it was the turn to grade the transformations. Professor McGonagall moved towards Ron'sceramic water goblet. She picked up the goblet and examined it carefully and said, "5 marks, Ron."And she put the goblet back. "what! Just 5."- said Ron who was in disbelief. "5 marks are more thanenough."- replied Professor as she moved towards Neville's broken goblet who was shivering due tonervousness. Without any careful examination Professor said, "Neville, 3 marks because it isbroken." Ron was shocked and said, "Its broken how?" "It is still of the right material and you shouldbe happy for your teammate on getting enough marks."- said Professor as she nodded her head indisbelief. Later she went towards Harry's goblet which was perfect. "Very well-done Harry, 10marks."- said Professor with a big smile on her face. Harry's face also lit up with happiness. Now shemoved towards the last Goblet which was of Hermione she was pretty confident. "Very well-doneHermione. Monster book is pretty difficult to transform. 10 marks and 1 grace mark for outstandingperformance." - said Professor happily. Ron jumped in happiness; Neville was happy too.

With this the transfiguration exam of Gryffindor team was over. They had a total of 30 marks out of40 in their Transfiguration exam. "Now, students you have to wait here until Professor Snape comesto take your Potion exam."- said Professor McGonagall "and be nice!"- she also added and itsounded like a warning. Professor Snape came nearly an hour late after their first exam. It was nightnow; they were all tired now. Professor Snape came with same cold expressions. He slammed thedoor and stood in the center of the room. Everyone was startled. "Don't stare at me like that."- saidSnape in cold voice. "This is your potion exam, Oh! God please when will it be over, I am tired of thisexam now. Well, I don't have any high hopes for you lot. You have to make Felix Felicis."- said Snapewith a crooked smile on his face. Hermione gasped. "But Professor, that is really difficult potion tobrew."- added Hermione. "well, Miss Granger, 1 mark will be deducted from your total scorebecause you questioned your professor."- said Snape. Hermione was sad and the whole team werein shock too. "Now, let's start you will have 1 hour to complete the potion and your time startsnow."- said Snape and he waved his wand and a huge hourglass spawned floating in the center ofroom along with all the ingredients required to make the Felix Felices.

Everyone hurried towards the cauldron and started brewing their potion. Neville was so nervousthat his hands were shaking so bad that he was not able to fill the cauldron with water. On the otherhand, Ron was struggling with chopping the beetle shell into to thin slices. Hermione was so into thepotion making that her nose was almost touching the cauldron. Harry feared that she might hurt hernose. Harry was taking things lightly because he knew how good of a potion he can brew Snape willalways mark his potion zero. Finally, the potions were brewed. From Neville's potion really weirdfumes were coming out. Ron's potion looked like simple water. Hermione was confident of herpotion.

"All of you step back from your potions."- shouted Snape, which Harry thought was not neededbecause four them were already backed up. Snape moved toward the potion made by Neville and hestopped midway. "What are those fumes and the smell. Mr. Longbottom you cannot even brew evenone simple potion."- said Snape in mocking way. "1 Mark." He added. Neville was going to faint.Harry got angry. Next, he moved towards Ron's potion. He stirred the potion and smelled it. "I

thought I told you to brew potion not just simple water. 1 Mark and I mean that is more thanenough."- said professor. Harry's patience level has reached its limit. "Professor, that is not fair."-said Harry in anger. "what did you just say Mr. potter. Now you will tell me what is fair and what not.2 marks will be deducted from your score for misbehaving."- said Snape angrily. Harry was going tosay something but Hermione touched his elbow and he calmed down. Snape then moved towardsthe potion made by Hermione. He checked everything three times. It was like he wanted to find amistake in the potion. "Very well, 8 marks."- said Snape in a bored kind of way. Hermione wasbewildered, she was not sure why Snape deducted her marks but she chose to stay quiet. Then hemoved towards Harry's potion. He came near it and checked it thoroughly. "It's a little over heated,5 marks."- said Snape. "So, your total in this exam is 17 out of 40."- said Snape but before anybodycould say anything he added, "And minus 5 marks for bad behavior." He smiled and left the room.Everyone was shocked professor told that he will deduct 3 marks but he actually deducted 5.

"That's is not fair."- Said angry Ron. "We cannot do anything about it."- said Hermione. She seemedas angry as Ron. "Let's hope that we don't have the lowest score."- added Neville. So, Gryffindor hada total of 41 marks out of 80.

Next day, everyone was told to come to the Great Hall for declaration of the results of the secondtask. Ravenclaws very pretty confident whereas Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors were sacred. When theGryffindor team entered the hall, they were treated with booing coming from the Slytherin table."what's their problem?"- said offended Ron. "Just relax Ron they are just jealous."- said Hermione tocomfort Ron. When everyone was settled, Professor Dumbledore stood up and came near the stand.He put his wand on his vocal cord and spoke, "Well as you all know yesterday was the second task ofthe House Wars." His voice was amplified. There was pin drop silence in the hall and every eye wasnow fixed at professor Dumbledore. "I will now announce the results."- said professor peeringthrough his half-moon spectacles. "The house that came first in the second task with a total of 57marks out of 80 is." He took a little pause." Ravenclaw!" there was uproar at the Ravenclaw tableeveryone was jumping and hooting. Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs were more nervous and scared now."Congratulations Ravenclaw, Now the final house which will make it to the finals is…"- saidprofessor. There atmosphere of the hall was so tensed now. "Hufflepuff." And boom there were alot of noise and hooting this time coming from Hufflepuff table and Slytherin table as well.Gryffindors were upset now. "SILENCE!"- shouted professor Dumbledore. "There is one morething."- said Professor. The atmosphere became tensed again. Gryffindors had a hope now. "There istie, both Hufflepuff and Gryffindor will advance to finals. They each scored 41 marks out of 80." Withthese words whole hall was filled with hooting and excitement only Slytherins were quiet.

"So, the final task will be tomorrow prepare well and it will decide which house is the winner of thisyear's House wars."- said professor Dumbledore.
