Dream Part 2
"Hmmm hmmm hmmm hmmmm~" hummed Cake, the faithful sister of Fionna taking out some flour, eggs, sugar, milk, and other various supplies to make her favorite breakfast.
"Mhmm!" sighed Cake in satisfaction, "Nothing like bacon pancakes in the morning."
She heated up a pan, slapped some bacon on, and began mixing together all the ingredients for her and Fionna's breakfast all while singing.
"Bacon pancakes~ Making bacon pancakes~" she sang, smiling and moving to the groove of her own song.
The sounds of sizzling bacon, crisping up on the pan, and the scratching sounds of Cake mixing the batter together before pouring it onto the pan, its delicious aroma filling their treehouse. The cat hummed contently to herself as she began swishing the pan back and forth, ensuring her breakfast didn't stick to the pan.
"Take some bacon and put it on a pancaaaaake~" she hummed contently, "Bacon pancakes~ That's what it gonna make~"
She flipped the meal and watched it fly in the air. Doing a twirl, she closed her eyes while singing the last note," Bacon pancaaaaaaaakes~!"
She grabbed a plate and held it out, whereupon the stack fell onto the ceramic plate with perfect precision. Cake made a happy humming sound and got to work on making the rest of the stacks, singing all the while and tapping her feet to her own rhythm. Soon enough there was a pair of plates with an admirable stack of delicious, salty bacon wrapped in fluffy, golden pancakes.
Humming, the cat began walking up to Fionna and her room, humming all the while.
"Fionna~!" she called, "Breakfast is ready!"
There was silence, and the cat couldn't help but scoff as she got over to their bed to check on her still dozing sister.
"Come on sugar wake up already I made us some bacon pancakes~." Cake said, before pausing as she saw Fionna's face.
The girl had a sappy, happy face on her, and Cake couldn't help but smile at the sight.
"Awwww..." Cake cooed, unable to find the heart to wake her sister up.
"Alright hun, just rest a little longer..."
She observed her sister for a while longer, taking note of Fionna's happy face and the bright smile on her even as she was sleeping.
Cake then smiled slyly and chuckled to herself, "But don't expect those pancakes to last long!"
She whispered that last part and grinned at her own joke before smooching Fionna's forehead. moved the curls that covered her face and shifted her to be more comfortable and more aligned with the bed rather than half off the bed. She then grabbed the sheets and pulled them over her again before patting her head and walking away.
Cake wondered what she was dreaming about, and smiled.
'Must be a nice dream for sure.' thought Cake, 'I haven't seen her that happy in so long.'
Six and Fionna walked down the dimly lit path towards… somewhere. He hummed to himself, his radar-like senses keeping an edge on anything that could suddenly pop out.
It's what he did whenever he traveled around, better to be safe than sorry. And one thing that caught his attention was how happy looking his traveling partner looked. Most would call her energetic personality cute, but he was slightly off-put by her cheery demeanor, call him paranoid but he didn't trust her.
But then again he didn't trust anyone, that and the thought of staying on that cliff was driving his wanderlust crazy. That and he had a theory he needed to test out.
"You seem happier now. What happened?" Six asked evenly, he needed a bead on her; figure out a profile so to say.
Fionna shrugged at his question. "I don't know man, It's been forever since I last saw you. Just glad to see you again."
He hummed to himself. "How long has it been since you last saw me?"
Fionna looked at him in surprise, her eyes looking hollow for a moment. "Y-You never kept track?" She asked slightly shakily.
"No. How long?" He asked again neutrally.
She looked hurt for a moment before sighing. "Four years, We haven't seen each other for four years. And the first thing you do is act like a butt!"
He then suddenly stopped, almost causing Fionna to crash into his back. He then crouched down and motioned Fionna to do that same. Fionna wanted to be angry but a gut feeling made her crouch down next to the Courier, drama won't get in the way of the mission.
Within the fog beyond something began to shift around. Six looked back at the young adventurer, noting with approval at her determined scowl.
"You got a weapon?" Six asked as he reached into his coat and pulled out Two-Step Goodbye.
"Yeah, got these good girls." Fionna said while raising her fists.
"I meant an actual weapon." Six deadpanned as he reached into his coat once more.
"I uh… no." She said sheepishly. Six then pulled out a fully modified Katana and held it out to her.
Fionna took the weird sword and looked it over with a critical eye before smiling lightly. "Thanks."
Six said nothing as he tensed the muscles in his body, readying himself to spring forward and attack anything that came out of the fog.
A large decrepit grey goat walked up to them from the fog, looking at them curiously with its black eyes. It stood up to peer over them but before it could do anything Six punched it in the midsection with the modified ballistic fist. A Miniature explosive embedded itself into the goat-man with the force of a sledgehammer.
Sending it flying into the fog, the following explosion dissipated the fog around them. Revealing dozens of growling goatmen with razor-like teeth in their drooling maws surrounding them.
In an instant, Six pulled out a fully modified Tommy Gun and fired into the crowd, the custom tooled .45 acp rounds tearing into the goatmen with ease. Sprays of blood painted the area as chunks of gore littered the surroundings. With their ambush broken the goatmen charged the Courier with the ferociousness of rabid wolves.
The Courier in return blew apart five more goat men with automatic fire. His gun ran dry and one of the creatures swung at him with dirt-covered claws, Six ducked under the blow and slammed the butt of his submachine gun into the thing's knee, breaking it and causing it to fall to the ground. He finished it off with a solid stomp that cracked its head open.
Another one charged him and he shifted slightly to dodge its attack, unsheathing Blood-nap he then gutted it while drawing Sweet Revenge and blowing a circling goatman's head off.
He was then lifted up into the air and slammed into the ground, almost knocking the wind out of him. A larger goat-man stood over him menacingly. It looked like it was about to roar at him as a show of dominance but was abruptly cut off when something decapitated it.
Six looked to see a blood-covered Fionna holding her new Katana defensively for a moment before leaning down and offering a hand to Six. He took it without hesitation and was hoisted up by the girl's surprising strength.
Six didn't question it as he raised Sweet revenge and blew the chest of a charging goat-man open before rapid-firing the last four shots into more of the creatures. The custom-made rounds splitting them open with ease.
As Six pulled out his Sequoia Fionna dashed at another beast and transitioned into a slide at the last moment as she cut the creature's legs off in one fell swoop. She stood up and finished it with a backstab.
She then dodged the attack of another goat-man before swinging her blade and almost bisected the abomination from shoulder to hip, her sword getting stuck to the beast's organs.
Just then another creature changed her but only got halfway as a 45-70 SWC blew half of its chest off. Six then shot off the remaining five shots and blew apart another five goatmen.
He holstered his revolver and pulled out Old Glory, the golden eagle sitting atop seemingly reflecting what little light there was in the area. Creating a beacon that welcomed the goatmen to their death.
Fionna grinned as she kicked the corpse off her blade and stood side by side with the mailman as they stared down what remained of the beasts.
The goatmen charged forward and so did the duo, Six swung Old Glory at the legs of one of them and broke them like twigs. He then spun his weapon around and caved in the chest of another goatman before braining a third with the golden eagle head.
Fionna for her part chopped one's head in half before slicing the throat of another, spilling grey matter and blood all over the area. She then blocked an attack from one of the goatmen before kneeing it in the crotch and following up with a sword thrust through its chest.
Slowly the two turned into a well-oiled machine of death as they systematically slaughtered the last remaining goatmen. They fought like they had known each other forever and had almost perfectly adapted to each other's fighting style.
Six used the superior reach of Old Glory both kept most of them at bay and funneled them into Fionna's reach where she cut them apart like butter.
Eventually, only the newly made dynamic duo was left standing, Six stood upright as he gazed around the battlefield while his companion hunched over slightly as she gasped for breath. The fight had slightly exhausted her.
Six looked at her before reaching into his coat and pulled out a bottle of freshwater, handing the bottle to her.
Fionna took the bottle and greedily drank the water while six took out a piece of cloth and cleaned the eagle head.
Once she was done Fionna placed the empty bottle into her pack and took a long look around a dumb grin on her face. She then promptly threw up.
Six sighed and patted her back gently as she metaphysically threw up her innards.
"T-Thanks, Oh Glob I've never seen that much blood before." She said shakily as Six shrugged.
"Yeah, I can tell."
Fionna stood upright and breathed a sigh of relief before regaining her giddy grin. "Can I say that you're the coolest guy I've ever met?"
Six scoffed at the words. "I'd be offended if I weren't" Fionna giggled for a moment before she remembered something.
"Oh. And here's your sword back." She held the sword out to him but Six didn't move.
Fionna looked at him in confusion and quirked an eyebrow. "Aren't you… going to take it?"
"Nah. Keep it, think of it as… a gift." Six replied neutrally.
Fionna smiled softly as she held the blade. "Thanks." She said softly.
Six nodded, the human side of him not having the heart to tell her the truth about the real reason he gave her one of his swords. Because for once his Pragmatic side agreed with its human half.
He didn't know how or why, but the girl in front of him was either a mirror into a different timeline or from a different era altogether. If his hypothesis was correct, then she would die in the span of a month for him… or vice versa.
If his theories about this psionic bridge between the two of them are correct, then having a link between their timelines would theoretically slow the rift down.
Or tear apart the space-time continuity trying to right the wrongs he made. But he always was a gambler. Besides, this new development… intrigued him.
"It's no biggie, let's carry on before anything else pops out at us." Six said as he continued walking along the dimly lit path. Fionna followed closely behind.
"Hey, I never really asked… but where are you from?" His companion asked as she followed him.
Six thought for a moment before replying. "If you mean my home, then the Mojave desert would be the answer."
"Moe-havee?"
"It's pronounced Mojave not 'Muh Havie." Six said slightly snarkily, causing Fionna to blush slightly in embarrassment.
"Anyway enough about me. Where are you from." Six asked to save the girl some face.
She regained an excited look on her face with the question. "I'm from Aaa, but I mostly stick around the candy kingdom."
He hummed in thought, a kingdom dedicated to candy? Maybe it was what they based their culture on. Not the weirdest way to brand a civilization truth be told, he had heard tales of some democracy out east that changes names with every leader elected.
"Hey if you don't mind me asking… but where did you get that armor from?" Fionna asked as she looked it up and down, a pang of envy entering in her as she gazed at his swanky trench coat.
Six thought for a moment if it would be ok for him to tell her about the literal hell on earth that was the divide. He shrugged, he'll just tell her the diet version of what happened.
No need to mentally scar her with what really happened, as well as the events that lead up to him going into the divide in the first place.
"If you really want to know, It was one of many spoils from one of my most arduous adventures yet. I journey through a land where devastation reigned supreme, a land where old world titans destroyed each other for the bounty that lay beneath."
He paused for dramatic effect, noting with a hint of pleasure that his companion was looking at him completely enraptured.
"I journeyed through it, braving sand storms and hoards of the damned. I admit I almost lost my life a few times but it was all worth it. And all though they were nice, I didn't care about the treasures I found while journeying through. No, I found something more valuable."
"What did you find?" Fionna asked with a glint of excitement in her eyes.
"History."
"... No offense Six, but that's kinda underwhelming."
Six chuckled at her response, "Yeah maybe. Would you rather I tell ya about my time-fighting Gaius Magnus? Or Colonel Royez?"
"Those guys sound cool so yes!"
"Well too bad. That's a story for another time." Six chuckled at the disappointed pout on her face.
"I'd tell ya but it seems that we've run out of time." He emphasized that by gesturing at the slowly dissolving landscape around them. "One of us is waking up."
"Oh." She said and gained a thoughtful look on her face before giving Six a small wave. "Well, cya later than man. Bye."
Then he was surrounded by Darkness once more, the last thing he saw before returning to the waking world was her gentle smile and her shining blue eyes.
"Bye."
Six sat upright and looked around, at the sight of the city near his location. He sighed and picked up his bedroll and began to sort through his inventory.
He paused when he looked over his melee weapons, the katana was gone. He chuckled slightly and stood up.
Pausing for a moment to look off in the distance, the cracked and scorched land before him spanning for miles on end.
The dried bones and blood of subjected tribes painted a nigh invisible trail to the towering ruined city before him. A cesspool of slavery and barbarism.
He sighed wearily and journeyed onwards, he had a job to do after all. And it helped that he enjoyed his job quite a bit.
Briefly, he wondered about the current state of Affairs in New Vegas and the Mojave as a whole. He knew that his companions would probably be on his tail and that Ulysses had his plate full with trying to mediate the different tribes.
But the former Frumentarii had something very few had, the Courier's Trust. And that held more than enough weight in the Mojave.
Six shook his head slightly at the thought, it was funny. Someone who dragged him through hell on earth had earned more trust than anyone else he knew.
Weird how that worked out huh? Six carried on like he always had and made his way to Phoenix, one small part of his journey was almost over. A small snail peered at him from a distance. Waiting endlessly.
Fionna looked at the red sheath of the blade with a small smile on her face, the beautiful red hilt and gold inlays on it gave her the sense that the sword was well crafted.
Of course, it would be, Six gave it to her. She slid a small bit of the blade outwards and looked at the clean and silvery metal that made up the sword.
While Fionna looked at the sword with no small amount of revere in her gaze, Cake looked at the blade suspiciously. A cup of tea in her hand.
"So… you got that thing from your, dream buddy?"
"Yeah! Can you believe it cake, haven't seen him in forever. Guy hasn't changed at all so it was easy to reconnect with him."
"Mhmm." Cake took a sip of her tea before sighing. "Why hasn't this guy shown up before? Why is he just popping up now of all times?"
Fionna shrugged in reply as she unsheathed the sword to get a better look at it. Lightly swinging it around.
"Don't play with it. It might be cursed."
Fionna looked at Cake like she had said something weird. "Why would it be cursed."
"It was given to you by a guy in your dreams." The magic cat said in a deadpan tone of voice. "Who, by your own words, looks very scary."
"I also said he looks cool!" Fionna pouted at her sister.
Cake was about to argue more but sighed. "Just… be careful around the guy. My tails going all crazy around that thing."
Fionna gained a thoughtful look on her face before sighing and sheathing the blade. "Sorry Cake, just a bit excited ya know?"
"I understand honey, just be careful with him. That's all I ask."
Fionna nodded at her words and looked at the sword in a new light. Now that she thought about it… Six only really went on a surface-level story about his journey.
She'd ask him for the full story the next time she sees him. For now, however, she was going to test her new sword out.
She stood up and grabbed the katana. "See you in a bit Cake, gonna go slay some gnomes with this thing. Maybe it steals souls or something." She said that last part sarcastically but Cake couldn't help but wonder.
"Sure thing honey, just don't stay out too late."
"Don't worry Cake, I'll be fine." Fionna and Cake waved their goodbyes and the young adventurer set off from the treehouse with Six's gift in hand.

ManwithaPlan113: Lmao Yeah, thankfully no bunny hopping just yet, no need for it… But it will happen at a later adventure man. When the time calls for it.
Calderoneric758: Who knows, certainly not done with the Monty Python references. Not yet anyways.
Bile 1.0: Lmao. Kek. Lol. Fuckin Rabbits.
Portalmesional Corporation: It's gonna be a trip for Six but given all the weird shit he's dealt with I think it's gonna be easier for him to transition.
DeltaGhost: Yes. Check out Improbable Fates for that.
