May 29, 2021 (Slateport City beach)
Yo Goods-kun!
It's me, ya boi. So I've been on quite a roll lately so I rightly decided to take a break and relax at the beach, in between the training and 2 gym battles I have taken a break from battling for a while so I decided Slateport was the best opportunity for it before heading home to Mauville! Smart, I know. I definitely did not want to spend an afternoon with two girls I've never met.
It was around 3 in the afternoon, I'd come to the beach after lunch and was relaxing under my little umbrella looking out at the beautiful blue sea. And that's when tragedy struck. A girl who couldn't be much older than me ran over, she was not in beach-wear, in fact, she looked like she was dressing for winter! A dark green beanie with a pom on top, and a thick grey sweater, and a short red skirt. Even with my limited understanding of female fashion, I could tell she hadn't come for the beach.
She looked at me for a bit as if sizing me up and licked her lips. "Is she checking me out! Am I finally entering my popular phase!" is what I thought but no, she would then annoyingly reveal her true intention which was a mile short of "Omigosh you're so hawt". She instead said, "Omigosh you look sooooo strong, fight me!"
Listen, kids, when strange Onee-sans come running at you asking for fights, the right answer is "no", and since I was very much not in the mood for fighting I declined as politely as I could, "Umm how about... No", definitely not salty that she wasn't actually checking me out. She didn't take the hint.
"How many badges do you have! All 8? 5? 7?", I was about to tell her off when another girl came into the picture. The exchange went something like this:
"Gloria! Don't run off like that!", referring to the meathead in front of me.
"Aww but Emilyyyy this guy is like stroonnggg I want to fight himmmm" the ever-annoying Gloria replied.
"I'm extremely sorry mister, my friend is a battle crazy maniac, it's been a while since she's had a battle, she's not normally this bad," Emily says turning to me.
Me being ever the gentleman accepted her apology and gave my condolences to her for having to deal with this force of nature. But Gloria ever the fool continued to press forward.
"So let's fight!"
"No fighting for you today Gloria you're grounded."
"Ehhh!"
Emily's blonde hair and blue eyes seemed to shine in the sunlight. I'm telling you Goods-kun, she honestly looked quite pretty. However, in the moment I knew I couldn't stare too much so I quickly looked away before I was caught staring... That was indeed my intention, but I was too late.
"Strong kid you're staring at Emily too much, you wanna fight her and not me? Not fairrrr!"
Ever the annoyance Gloria unceremoniously calls me out. However, I quickly and graciously deflected her accusations.
"Uhh, no you!"
It was only later I realized when watching the news that the battle-crazed lunatic was actually Gloria the Galar Champion.
June 19, 2021 (Mauville City)
Dear Goods-kun,
Call me Daniel-sama from now on, ya boi has become famous. Well... kinda? At least my face is getting well known. I got to know from this morning when he sent me screenshots of the Pokemon League's website... With videos and articles all about my battle with Norman.
I was on my way home to Mauville on cycling road when I saw it and I had thought that my life just couldn't get any better. Mom was cooking my favorite for lunch and dinner today, apparently, I'm famous now, what else could a guy want? Maybe I can get a date now... Besides the point but yeah life was being awesome. And then it got better.
When I was making my way through the city on my way home a kid walked up to me, I saw his mom a bit behind him mouthing a sorry in my direction. The kid was the best part. He couldn't have been older than five, he turned back to his mom and went "Mommy! Mommy! This boy looks like the one from that video! So cool!" Are kids allowed to be this cute! And then his mom went, "That's because it is the boy from the video. He lives nearby, now let him go son he must be busy." The boy then looked up at me like he struck the lottery. He even asked for an autograph! The cute levels released by the kid were super-effective, I just had to give him something. So... I gave him a candy I had saved along with the autograph he asked for.
He wasn't the only one either, next was a pair of little girls who were arguing whether I was the "real Daniel Todd". When I went walking around the city in the evening I wanted to flex a little, I might not be as famous later so I wanted to make the most of it, I called out Hoola to walk/fly beside me. The results spoke for themselves. A few kids my age gave me looks of jealousy and admiration. The guys whom I used to hang out with before I left came up to congratulate me, but for some reason, there was this sense of distance between us. I suppose fame has it's downsides too.
When I was walking around town I ran into Emily, the girl who was with that battle-crazy champion Gloria. She was going back to the pokemon center after participating in a contest. We got to talking, I showed her around the city and we got to know each other a bit more. Apparently, she came to Hoenn from Galar with Gloria to help keep her in check, but right now she was in a League meeting in the gym so Emily decided to try her hand at contests.
We walked while I showed her a good chunk of the city, the pokemart, the good fishing spots, and finally the park where we went to rest before going back to our respective homes/lodgings. It was there that the most embarrassing part of the day happened. A ton of kids seemed to recognize me and Hoola and ran over asking for an autograph and to play with Hoola. Hoola didn't seem to mind the kids so I allowed them that.
One of the little girls came up to both of us, me and Emily, she seemed a bit annoyed for some reason and asked us "are you guys dating?" I must've gone beet red cause Emily looked at me and started laughing. "No kiddo, in fact, this is only the third time we've met," she said and the kid relaxed a little but replied with a cocky "That's right, he's mine!"
This was getting worse, a barely 10-year-old girl said I was 'hers' and that the pretty lady beside me didn't deserve me. Both statements I disagreed with, so I told the kid as such.
"Kid, you're hardly 5 do you even know what you're saying?"
"I'm 8 now! I'm a big kid! I know what I'm saying!" The kid was getting annoyed at being called young.
Emily was got a kick out of the kid's antics. She was laughing quite loudly which wasn't very helpful.
"Anyway, I'm not anybody's I'm mine and mine alone. I'm 15 not some dude your age and you're too young to date anyone anyway."
Emily stopped laughing and looked straight at me. "You're a whole year younger than me?" She seemed to be embarrassed for some reason. Maybe she's into younger guys? ... She probably just thought I was older or something.
The girl's mom came soon and apologized. It was pretty awkward after that. Whenever I looked over to her she became flustered and turned away. It was cute but at the same time, I wondered if it was something I did that made her uncomfortable. We soon came at a crossroads, left to my place, right to the pokemon center where she was gonna spend the night. We awkwardly said and goodbyes and parted ways. She probably hates me for not apologizing for the thing she's annoyed about. Well, it's not like we'll ever meet again so it's fine.
