... I do suck at intruductions. Welcome back for another chapter. Two days or three days passed, I don't know how to count these days to post my stories. I count them by the same day I post the story to the day I'll be posting the new chapter. Doing a 2-days period is like posting a chapter in 3-to-3 days, am I right? Or maybe is just me who is not following my own posting schedule and wants you readers and authors/writers to read my work, ahahah...
So yeah, guys... I have been searching about the kind of maturity content I should post on my future chapters. And I found out there was supposed to have a 'MA' tag to make it so I could publish sexual intercourses between characters in my story (once again, I'm explaining why this story is, like the EA SPORTS like to call it, Pegi 18). I already inserted a warning lemons inside that chapter for those who are not interested to read that.
Anyways... I got more Follows and Favorites in my story. Yay! I'm really hyped for keep writting all this stuff for you folks. Being a writter by hobby is already becoming a thing for me, but I'm forgetting one thing... my vacations are coming to a close :( . Only tomorrow left before start my full-time job, where my head will be so tired, that I'll get to only write my story during the days-off. The number of views in this story is also... it already reached a meta I thought it wouldn't reach, so I have no words, lol.
Anyways, this chapter (The Duel Giant) will be actually a very special one: I switched the episode from the anime on purpose, because it fits well with my sequence. This idea was taken, of course, by the story 'Jaden's Harem - Return of the Supreme King', by GhostKaiser23-senpai. Or is it teacher, probably master? I don't know... all I know is that his story was the influence I got on writing my own. The others stories come next for the creativity.
Review time:
RabbitHaremLover23: You're awesome, and I will definetely keep giving more epic duels, showing off all my characters overpowering duels, just like this duel you'll read, using a "meme" deck I've had in mind during the time I saw the anime' episode. Because why not making it so the characters can show their overpowering evolution, am I right? I'm so glad you're helping me out with the story... I would reccommend you to follow my streams to help me with the character relationship... Or just PM me your social network (either Tweeter, Facebook or Discord...). I would love to hear your ideas for my future chapters, thou I already have a full-script of what will happen in seasons 1, 2 and 3. But you know, the more people will help me, I'll get to help them as well :) .
I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh GxB, some OC characters/cards from future chapters are owned by the writter GhostKaiser23. New chapter, new episode, blah-blah-blah... You know the drill, enjoy it with your fulfilled hearts :) .
Chapter 6 – The Duel Giant
It was already '11:00 AM', the sun was shining its rays through the forest in Duel Academy island. Syrus was there looking at a Duel Spirit in front of him. Blonde hair, wearing a two-part light-blue hat pointing back, held by a pink spiral, it had three pink rings crossing the top hat; green eyes, with pink marks between her eyes and cheeks. The yellow collar, with a red gem in it; the blue off-the-shoulders-garment that extended to her mid-thighs and ended up as a skirt, with an 'hexagram' symbol in the middle, covering her cleavage lines; the pink cape and skirt behind her to combine with the outfit, which was stuck with her outfit. To finish it, her light-blue armlets and boots.
There was no mistake, in front of Syrus it stood Dark Magician Girl, with a gentle smile looking at his new holder. He was blushing at her beauty, in which the sun rays made her look like an angel; his 'guardian angel'. However, she decided to break the silence.
"Hi" she said in a serene tone.
"Eh? …H-hi, hum… this is…" Syrus murmured to himself while waving nervously, now looking somewhere but not at his front.
"You're Syrus, right? It's so nice to finally meet you." The spirit asked, walking with a satisfied grin. Syrus was still confused, so many questions coming to his mind:
'How is Dark Magician Girl still in front of me, after I turned down the duel disk?', 'How can she walk in the ground like a normal person?', 'Is she really real, even after I summoned her on the field?', 'How does she know my name, and also, how can she talk to me? Am I still dreaming? Or is this a hallucination?'
Syrus was still stuck on the ground like a statue, the spirit was now 1-foot close to him. He almost jumps scared from how close she was, but was still sweating from the closure. That's when the spirit forgot something.
"Oh… pardon me! I' probably scaring you… I'm still not used to greet new people. As you know already, I am Dark Magician Girl. The spirit living inside the card you have it right now, that is. But you can call me by my nickname, 'Dee', if you feel more like it" she winked at Syrus.
"Th-that's… good… yeah, greetings! Yeah… My name's Syrus Truesdale… I. Uh, have been a fan of yours… ever since I was little. Dee, right? That's a nice name… Oh, but I was greeting myself. Uhm, I turned 16 today… I… I play… cards too and…" Syrus was trying to talk, but it was too hard for him. His cheeks were still red, his eyes were rolling from the nervousness.
Dee was looking at him with some curiosity. Not every now and then she would meet someone interesting like him. He was so confident back in the duel, with a serious look at him… Like he had put his soul in his deck to win against his opponent. But now, he was murmuring the same way he wanted to fall to the ground unconscious. That's where his unconfident part was, he wasn't used to talk with new people. She smiled, now remembering what Syrus just mentioned.
"So… you turned 16, today. I would hug you now, if you wouldn't mind… But I guess this is all I can say: 'Happy Birthday, my new dear summoner, Syrus Truesdale'!"
Syrus was again with his eyes wide-open. Dee said she would 'hug' him. HIM? From all people he could think off, Dee would choose him to hug. But also, Dee turned out to be the 'first' one to congratulate him for his birthday. He was speechless, no voice would answer from him.
He just looked at the ground, and saw all papers that were there from the falling he did. He didn't want to ignore Dee in front of him, but he promised Jaden he would give him the papers in the classroom. He excused himself to go grab them, Dee still looking at him curiously.
He got all his papers back in his hands, with a satisfied sigh. Now he had to return them back to his Big Bro. But then he remembered something… Wasn't Jaden just supporting him just moments ago, before he started his turn? He even defended him from the Obelisk student he faced. He looked to the high-ground of the forest.
Jaden had his back held in one of the trees, with the new 'friend' Syrus didn't recognized. A demonic creature, with white and purple hair, a vertical eye in the middle; orange and cyan eyes, in a sickly-pink skin. She was dressed in a black outfit, two bat wings behind her and some draconic skin exposed. She was really closed to him, with a gentle smile too, one that he thought she could be trusted.
"Big Bro? Is that you?" Syrus was now walking to Jaden's direction.
"Yoh Sy… I thought you would forget me already!" Jaden waved at him, and decided to walk down the forest path to come now close to him too. "I swear, I can't leave my sight from you for a second… You have to get yourself into some trouble, huh buddy?"
"I, I didn't have a choice… How could've I run away, if all these papers were on the ground, when I fell? And if I had chosen to get all papers, instead of… then… I" Syrus was now more nervous from what he wanted to say, breathing too loud. He was now feeling uncomfortable with the topic.
Jaden now understood how deep Syrus really wanted to show how much of a true friend he really was to him. To risk himself to protect his friend's duty… but in an 'idiotic way'. They were now closer to each other, Syrus instantly hugged him, covering his face on his chest, now crying.
"I WAS SCARED, BIG BRO! *snif* I DIDN'T KNOW *snif* WHAT TO DO… LOSING MY CARD TO GET THE PAPERS… OR LEAVING THE FOREST AND NOT DOING WHAT A FRIEND ASKED MEEE…"
Jaden was spoiling Syrus hair, while he was still crying loud from his trauma back there. If he had lost the duel, he would blame himself for everything. But luckily, he had to thank all that to Dee; she was there where he wasn't. He looked at her with a gentle smile, words murmuring from his mouth: 'Thank you… sis'. Dee cleaned a tear from her eye for the view she was seeing, and nodded back.
It was now midday, and Syrus was now more relaxed. He left from his hug, handing him the promised papers to him.
"Sorry I couldn't come to the schoolroom, the place where we promised we would meet."
"Nah it's fine don't worry… I'll just hand over to Banner later. It's already midday, and seeing how you look right now, it seems we need to get a well-deserved lunch. Want to come to…" Jaden was about to continue, when his 'friend' interrupted him.
"Jaden… are you forgetting something?" she was hovering now close to him, for Syrus surprise at how he could see her.
"Hum… hi?" that was all Syrus could say, Jaden and Yubel looking at each other. So, Syrus could see duel spirits besides Dee… Did she give Dee too much of her power, so the 'neuro-link' could make it so he could see the same spirits Jaden could? She had to explain all that.
"Well… this is unexpected. But hello, Syrus. I am Yubel, Jaden's guardian friend and… yes, you could say that. I've been taking a look at you during these days, to see if you were trust-worthy to be Jaden's friend; and you've been succeeding on every aspect. I'm quite impressed, it could make me sometimes… jealous of you." Yubel greeted with a smirk.
"Well. I guess I don't need to greet myself then… Only saying, it's nice to meet you… Yubel. Thanks for all flattering, I've just thought of Jaden as my Big Bro. If only it was on my 'make-a-wish' list…" Syrus sweat-smiled at that.
'Right…' Jaden deadpanned at both Syrus and Yubel. But then he remembered what Yubel mentioned… a hide smile keeping him. "Hey Syrus, I feel like we could have a nice lunch somewhere outside our dorm. What do you think?" he asked Syrus.
"Yeah sure, but do you have any ideas in mind?"
"Well, in Duel Academy there's a dining room, where we could also eat. It would be my treat, feel free to ask me anything for you to eat."
"Anything? Wow, I wasn't expecting that… Nobody ever said THAT to me." 'Not even mum, when we use to eat together… we weren't all that rich for picking preferences… not that I wouldn't mind thou.' Syrus thought to himself, lost in thoughts. Dee's voice made him come back to reality.
"Wow, seriously, bro? You let Syrus pick whatever he wants… but when it comes to me, you're the one deciding what I'll have? That's unfair…" Dee frowned dramatically, Yubel laughing next to her.
"Eh? 'Bro'? Jay-Big Bro… you know Dee?" Syrus asked him, that gave attention to the word Dee mentioned.
"Well… yes. I and Dee treat ourselves like relatives. With Dark Magician Girl original card being in Dad's deck, Yugi Muto. I gave you a copy of Dee's card, Sy. That's the reason why I wanted you to go get the papers in the room in the first place…"
"Then that means… this card is" Syrus looked at the Dark Magician Girl card he took from his deck, then back at Jaden. He only showed a big smiled, with a sigh.
"I guess I can't hide it anymore... Happy Birthday, my Best Bro Sy! I hope we get to have a fulfilled year, full of happy moments!" He opened his arms again for a brotherhood hug, Syrus back at tears again, but this time were tears of joy. He DID remember after all.
"JAAAAAAAAAAAAY!" his name could be heard from the forest.
*Sometime later*
Jaden and Syrus had finished their lunch time together, the duel spirits were doing nice company too. They talked from a lot of stuff: from how Syrus interests in playing his 'Roid' deck came from his past vehicle toys he had in his past life; Jaden explaining Syrus that his passion for his 'Hero' deck came from him watching Hero series on the television, how he admired when the hero always won fights against the villains.
The last topic of their chatting was a memory Syrus kept to himself, he revealing on his During Exam he did played the Trap Magic Cylinder against his Duelist Instructor, which made him get a win in his duel. Syrus admitted that when he activated his card, he actually imagined Dark Magician Girl being in the middle of the cylinders. That made Jaden and Yubel joke-laughed from his 'embarrassing' reveal, but Dee only smiled with a little blush. She thought it was quite cute, for Syrus to reveal one of his moments where she would appear.
It was '04:00 PM'. The sun was closing from the island, from the evening almost coming to a close. Jaden and Syrus left the Duel Academy Building, now going back to the Slifer Dorm.
Syrus had to admit. Before he was following Jaden around because he was worried about his anxiety and insecurity in the academy island. But now, he felt different. As if, for a chance, he didn't mind actually come to Duel Academy, despite some of the classes being boring.
They were now at the entry of the small building with the red rooftop. Jaden gasped at Syrus, with a worried look.
"Oh man… I totally forgot! Since today's your birthday, I have to give you a gift from me, and it's on my desk. Don't mind me… You can get inside the dorm; I'll be there in a sec." Jaden was grabbing his shoulders, shaking him a little for how 'worried' he was.
"I… Its ok, Big Bro! You don't… need to… worry about that. The card… was already enough." Syrus was now looking at Dee and Yubel spirits… they were looking in another direction too, 'whistling'. He was wondering what was going on… until he decided to break from the grip.
"FINE! Fine, you can get the gift, I'll get inside the dorm to wait for you."
"Sweet, thanks a bunch. I promise you won't regret it." Jaden said happily now climbing the staircase to his room. Syrus was wondering what was all that… 'Why would Big Bro, from all this time happening, would go to his room to give me the gift?' and with that thinking, he opened the door to the Slifer dorm.
For his big worry, the dorm was all dark inside; a huge blackout in the dorm.
"Eh? Hum… Who turned off the lights?" Syrus asked himself, turning the light switch on. When he did that, he turned fast to the middle of the room… and gasped by the view.
"SUUURPRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, DEAR SYRUS! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU~" a chorus screamed behind the Slifer tables; Syrus recognized who they were. Bastion, Alexis, Banner, Chumley… even Chancellor Sheppard was there. Inside the dorm, it was all filled with decorations, a big sign saying 'Happy 16th Birthday, Syrus' was on the top of the end wall.
The birthday person was still acting like a statue, in a state of shock. 'Why… What… How did they know about my birthday? Unless… of course…' he sighed back with a big smile. He looked at his back, his spirit friends were also clapping hands at him.
"Jay-Big Bro… You… from all people… you're… 'unfair'." Syrus didn't mean to, but started letting out tears from his surprise birthday. A surprise he never got to have during his past years… the last one he had; he was still on his 8 years old.
"Thank… you… guys! I'm so… so happy! I never cried this much, for how happy I am…" everyone awed from Syrus opening himself for the first time in front of them. They got close to him and gave him a group hug.
Jaden was at the front door, holding something with him. It was a cake… one that he had from his dad' bags when Tristan came to the docks to deliver them.
"It's not the gift you expected the most… I didn't know what other things you wanted for your birthday, so I got the cake ready for us… to celebrate your birthday, best bro." Jaden said with a goofy smile.
"I… I have… I feel… I can't tell how much I feel fortunate… to have friends like all of you!" Syrus was now hiccupping from everything it was going on. If it wasn't for the trauma at the morning he suffered, but with a success; he could say this was the best day he has ever had.
"Well, chap." Bastion started his speech, Syrus giving him attention, "I will try my best to help you in any problems it may occur to you during this year. Being a student here, you're also a nice duelist… I can tell that ever since I saw your Exam Entry duel. Let's get along nicely, shall we?" Bastion extended his hand to Syrus to handshake him. They shook their hands, in a way to give trust and respect to each other.
It was now Alexis' turn. "Well, Syrus… Even thou I don't know too much about you, I still see you hanging around all over the school. I see by your looks, that you might accomplish your objectives if you give your all in every moment. I'll be rooting for you too, and congratulations one more time." Alexis ended her speech, extending her hand too in front of Syrus.
He however felt a little embarrassed to extend his hand to her. He never had experience talking to other girls before, so he didn't think about the hand holding, and extended his hand with his head down. They shook their hands, but Syrus couldn't tell that his hand was on top of hers when they did the shake. Syrus took his hand fast and turned his red beet head, too much for the guy's laughter and enjoyment.
It was now Banner and Sheppard speech. "Syrus, despite you being a student still on learning the basics of card gaming, you've been progressing over these last days-nya! I believe you and Jaden have been a good company to each other; I only wish you good luck for the upcoming challenges you might face-nya!" Banner bowed his head, holding on his cat.
"Me too, I also want to congratulate you for this happy day. May the day will come where you become a top student, following your dream career, together with your friends and loved ones." Sheppard came closer to Syrus, to shake his hand. "Y-yeah, I'll do my best, Professor, Chancellor!" Syrus finished with a shake of chancellor's hand and bowed his head at Banner.
The finished person to talk was Chumley… but he didn't have any words to say. Instead, he only said: "Well… I only came to the party, because is normal to have cake… and grilled cheese. It's not like you should feel yourself special because it's your birthday or something… oh whatever, just give me a cake slice, I'm hungry!" he finished his 'speech', Syrus deadpanned at that. 'Well, not everyone can praise, right?'
The cake got slice for everyone to celebrate the party. There Syrus got to meet Jaden's other spirit friends, without the other people inside noticing them: Mana, daughter of Slifer; Berenice, daughter of Obelisk and Cleo, daughter of Ra. They also wished the anniversary boy a happy birthday, too much of Syrus amazement and happiness.
Not just because they were the daughters of the Egyptian Gods, but because they were cards from Jaden's deck. 'A Hero deck, that holds the power of Egyptian Gods Descendants. Man, if this is cool or awesome at same time… then I don't know what it is!'.
And that's how a light inside the dorm, shinning at night, got to be one happy memory for the residents inside it. However, the same couldn't be said for some other residents of the island… and one of them being the same Obelisk Student that faced Syrus for a duel that day.
In the same forest he faced the Slifer, a light explosion could be heard.
"AHHHHHHHH!" the Obelisk Student screamed falling back to the ground, while the cards flied away from his deck slot.
In front of him, there was a giant wearing obelisk uniforms everywhere, to cover his identity. The duel was over, so the giant walked close to the Obelisk Student on the ground, and picked one card that fell from his deck slot, it was White-Horned Dragon.
"I'll be taking your rare card. If you learned from this experience, you'll change your arrogant attitude." The giant informed, before turning away to his place. The student on the ground was scared and infuriated at same time. Because first, someone took a 'rare card' from his deck, and second, he had lost TWICE the same day… on a non-school-work day.
"God dammit! GOD FUCKING DAMMIT!" the obelisk screamed, picking the rest of his cards to go to his dorm.
From the top of a tree from the forest, a kid was looking at the student' sudden reaction, and let out an evil chuckle.
*Several days later*
The exams, both writing and dueling, were almost coming. The students in the island were now working their sweat on improve their deck abilities by duel training against each other. It was a battle of the 'Strong against the Weak': either you would pass the exam, and get a chance to rank up on your marks and probably switch to the higher dorm; you would fail the exam, and you rank down on your marks and switch to the lower dorm.
That wasn't too much of a problem for both Jaden, Syrus and their friends. Jaden has been hitting the books with Bastion in the library, for some missing details in the card combinations for his deck; Syrus was actually in his room, he used to study in his bedroom before. He now could have some other company besides Jaden; yes, Dee was making him company, while the others weren't around.
In the first days, Syrus felt a bit insecure to see the spirit staring at him while he was with the books in hand. But now, he was used by her presence and, in some good ways, it felt like it was a nice environment he was living in. During these training days of dueling, Syrus and Jaden have been checking on his new deck strategy: the new 'Roids' he had that turned themselves into 'Magicians', served the role of being Dark Magician Girl's disciples.
That's why they wore the same 'hexagram' symbol as Dee's, the 'gear' symbol in their belt holding their cloak being the proof they were past 'Machine-Type' monsters turning into ´Spellcaster-Type', modeling their 'Roid' names into 'Magician' ones. Almost all Magician monsters shared the same last effect: in the graveyard, their names would be treated as 'Dark Magician'. This comes in handy when you have Dark Magician Girl on the field, making her stronger by the help of their pupils.
Also, those Magicians that shared that effect were also fusion materials to perform strong Fusion Monsters together with Dark Magician Girl, without the use of 'Polymerization'. The best part was that it was by Fusion Summon, not Special Summon. Which means, Syrus could revive them back from the Graveyard with cards like 'Monster Reborn' or 'Call of the Haunted'.
"To think I would feel so lucky to have all my friends changed into a now more lively aspect. I mean… it's not that I thought they weren't alive before, I used to play them all around everywhere in my room when I was little. But, wow! They look more… epic." Syrus murmured, looking at each card closely.
"I'm glad you like their change. I took the time to also have my Spell Training more freely, and if I had to be honest, your friends have been helpful too! With their new discoveries they have been working back in Hyper Library, it feels like I can't do nothing else around. That makes me feel a little… bored." Dee said sitting in the next chair close to Syrus.
He started laughing listening to Dee' babbling. Probably Syrus' hard work on improving his Roid deck in the past, made his friends release some grants for her new 'Mistress'.
"Well, if everything goes well according to plan, we might get to a higher rank. Probably I'll get to change to Ra Yellow too! They say the conditions there are better, and the student treatment is better than here in Slifer. I just want to keep getting stronger and stronger, in any ways possible." Syrus slight smiled, with new plans coming to his mind.
Dee couldn't be happier by his Summoner way of thinking. He's been treating his cards so well, carefully playing them in training duels, where he would have a plan to defend his friends and himself. That was his 'control' deck strategy, after all. An idea came to her mind, she now getting up from her spot.
"What if I reward you, Syrus?" she asked teasingly.
"Eh? Reward… ME? W-where? When… Why… what…?" Syrus started sweating from her asking. She only shut his lips with her finger, making him calm down.
"Easy there… I meant to say, if you pass both the exam writing and duel, maybe I'll reward you. During these days, you've been working REALLY hard, it feels unfair for me to not have my summoner have a decent reward for his hard work." Dee took her finger from his lips and then cheerfully asked. "Have you ever felt interested in visiting the Monster Realm for some fun?"
"Monster… Realm? Is there where you live?" Syrus asked curious
"Yep, and we also share the same cultural holiday' days than you. So, I was thinking, Halloween is the next week after the exams. Would you like to come with me… for a walk in Monster Realm?" Dee asked with pleading eyes.
"I… Uh… Erm… I would… love to!" Syrus got his last hopes in answer her.
"YEY! Thank you Syrus… I wanted to celebrate at least one day one of these popular days with someone. I tried to invite Jaden once, but either he was still training with his dad, or he wasn't around to ask him. His spirit friends also wouldn't help either… but since you are with me, Syrus, I believe I can trust you in these kinds of holiday days!" Dee grinned satisfied, jumping around the room.
"I… I… I'M GONNA DO MY BEST!" Syrus screamed from the top of his lungs, grabbing his book and his eyes were now focused on the words there.
"Good… because if you still didn't forget, I ALSO SLEEP HERE SYRUS, YOU'RE NOT ALONE IN THE ROOM!" Chumley appeared from his top bunk, groaning at Syrus with an angry-look. Both Dee and Syrus looked at him and got immobilized. They didn't know they were 'alone' in the room.
"Is that… 'Des Koala'?" Dee asked him.
'Please don't ask, I would rather not know…' Syrus answered telepathically, leaving the room with the book. He decided to visit Jaden and Bastion.
*With Jaden and Bastion*
They were walking in the hallway to go to the canteen; during their own study progress, they've learnt new techniques to counter the opponents: it was called a 'chain link', where basically the duelist had the chance to activate a card in response to another card' activation. They were still used to activate a card during their own turn, or a counter trap to negate their opponent's card effects.
During their walk, they passed by some Obelisk dorm students, but they were looking stressed, or rather, afraid. Everywhere they were, they group together with colleagues of their dorm; it was as if they were afraid of the other school dorms.
"Last night?" one Obelisk Student asked another; "Again?"; the other asked as well. "Apparently, more rare cards were involved in this." The last colleague answered.
Jaden and Bastion paid close attention at the Obelisk students' behaviors in front of them, Jaden asking them: "Yoh! What's up?". By hearing him, the Obelisk colleagues frightened at him, and turned their back to walk away. Yubel appeared next to Jaden, also trying to understand what was happening.
"Did they see a 'ghost' or something? Or are they planning something again to piss off either you or our close friends?" Yubel asked only Jaden could hear him.
'Knowing them, they still probably hate my guts, which I don't blame them… But I don't really like it, when they act all sneaky everywhere we go…' Jade spoke subconsciously, a sigh coming from him.
"Is everything okay, Jaden?" Bastion asked him, Jaden looking at him.
"I just find it odd… Aren't all the Obelisk Blues being afraid or something? I mean, I get the exams are coming and all. But come on, there's nothing wrong about it, just study, work on decks and…" Jaden wanted to continue, but Bastion interfered.
"Actually, Jaden… This is more than the exam that they're worried about! There has been this rumor I've been hearing about my Ra colleagues too. A rumor explaining how a duelist has been dueling against some Obelisk Blues. It also says that he duels with the forbidden Ante Rule: the winner gets the loser' best card." Jaden and Yubel grit their teeth.
'Again… with THAT anti-rule!' Jaden murmured to himself.
"The last thing I also heard of them, is that the unknown duelist is an enormous duelist that wears their clothes to cover himself; he appears at night so nobody can see him. That's why people call him: the 'Giant Duelist of the Dark Night'!" Bastion finished, with Jaden nodding at him.
Syrus was now behind them, recognizing Jaden and Bastion's hair from behind. Yubel was also there by Syrus sight, she was the one turning her head to see Syrus and Dee, and waved at them with a smile.
"Hey, Big Bro, Bastion… What are you up to now?" Syrus spoke to his friends, they turned their attention to him.
"Yoh Sy! We were about to get some lunch now, the studying in the library got me with an appetite. Mind to come with us? The more, the merrier!" Jaden answered. That's when Bastion' PDA started vibrating, he picked his PDA to see what it was.
"Unfortunately, gentlemen. I won't get to come to you… My Ra colleagues asked me to do a dorm study group for the exam. I will have the lunch there. You wouldn't mind my absent, would you?" Bastion asked worried.
"It's all cool, man. Go get your pals ready for it; the same applying to you." Jaden extended his fist to Bastion.
"Touché!" Bastion collided their fists, in show of department, and walked away.
"So… what have YOU been up to, Sy?" Jaden asked him, now they were alone in the hallway.
"Huh? What do you mean 'I' have been doing? Studying of course…" Syrus explained, but he was trying to hide something with his last murmuring.
"You were 'studying'… huh? You don't need to hide from me, since Dee has been hanging out with you during these days ever since you got the card. I can tell you don't want to tell me something revolving you two. It's written in your face!" Jaden crossed him arms, Syrus was now sweating.
"Uhm... This is…", Syrus wanted to excuse himself, but he couldn't. He didn't want to hide it anymore, not in front of Jaden, so he sighed. "Fine… Dee asked me… to go out with her to this 'Monster Realm' with her during the Halloween day… if I passed the writing and dueling' exams."
"She… WHAT?" Jaden asked, now looking at Dark Magician Girl; she was looking to the other side, whistling to try to sound innocent. Jaden just sighed for both of them, and thought about it. If Dee really wanted to show Syrus around the Monster Realm, she could, but why on Halloween?
'Does Syrus know about the Monster Realm's conditions in the first place? It could be either dangerous or even… scary too. But not IF Sy really holds a pure heart for his friends… I think he's fine.' Jaden ended his train of thinking, now looking at Syrus. He was REALLY embarrassed for saying all that.
"Ugh… FINE! You guys can go… in ONE condition: do NOT cross the line!" Jaden said, staring at Dee and Syrus with a challenging look. Syrus just nodded trembling, and Dee just shrugged relaxed.
Passing through the same hallway, Professor Vellian Crowler was murmuring to himself about his dorm student's conditions.
"This is bad… To think that the Obelisk Blue students that I supervise are losing to this unknown duelist… And by violating school regulations with the Anti Rule, no less! If word gets out, I'll be blamed by not supervising them!" Crowler was talking dramatically, scratching his hair with his hands. That's when he saw Jaden and Syrus talking to each other. 'That's it, the Slifer Slackers! They will get pushed with this problem…'
"It's you, Slackers. Glad to see you here." Crowler greeted them.
"Nice way to greet your students, professor…" Jaden crossed his hands when he saw him. Yubel hmphed, and Dee looked at Syrus with a curious look.
"It's a HE? Your professor is a crossdresser? And why would he call you that?" Dee asked.
'I wished you would've known sooner… the first days I tried to hide how he embarrassed me in front of the class, from my stage fright. But to think he never asked us nothing, but instead doing something troublesome to us… I have a bad feeling about this.' Syrus answered telephatically, so only Dee could listen. She nodded, and decided to get angry-serious at Crowler in front of them.
"What do you want? You've set us in the 'love letter' trap before… What is it that you want to arrange for us now?" Jaden asked serious, and Crowler actually sweat-scared by that. Dee, again, asked Syrus.
"WHAT? What does Jaden mean by the 'Love Letter' trap, Syrus?" Syrus only answered with a disgusted face.
'I wished… you wouldn't mention that! The… 'bastard' put a love letter on my locker, saying it belonged to Alexis, and Big Bro was the receiver. The worse part, was that on the letter said that Jaden was supposed to go at the back of Girls Dorm Room, where she would confess to him. Gladly, Jaden knew it was a farse.' Syrus explained shivering, because of the kiss mark.
"Hm… Anyways… I… am giving you two a special assignment." Crowler explained to the two boys. "You probably have heard about the rumored Duelist that challenges others to a duel with the Anti-Rule… I would ask you to capture him and expose his identity!" he finished.
"So… you mean the 'Giant Duelist of the Dark Night' is real… I'm in!" Jaden answered, for Syrus and Crowler confused. They didn't know about the name before, but the last just ignored the name, simply adding.
"Anyways… if you succeed on that, I'll make it so you, Jaden, and Syrus won't get to worry yourselves with homework for the rest of the year!" Crowler ended now, leaving their sight to walk to the other way of the hallway. The Slifers were also walking through the hallway in a different direction, Syrus looking at Jaden with a worried look.
"Hum, Big Bro… I know this seems odd for me, about not understanding the name you just mentioned. But why would Crowler ask YOU to do this assignment? This seems like a bad idea."
"I know. But if this Duel Giant is the actual real thing, then I can't back down from this. It's a thing I MUST do!" Jaden let out a sigh when he finished it. Syrus looked at Yubel when Jaden finished his explanation, and she nodded at him. They were trying to tell him something, but he didn't understand what it was.
"So… What's the plan? How are you planning to find him?" Syrus asked him, concerned.
"Well, first… from the rumors, it mentions the Duelist duels at night. If we're lucky, today might be the day we'll catch him. I'll be staying outside the dorm, together with Yubel and the others, to see if they find something suspicious."
"… Of course, you would do that, Big Bro!" Syrus deadpanned at Jaden, Dee laughing from behind. They were now in the canteen, to get their lunch ready.
*Sometime later*
At the Duel Arena from Duel Academy Stadium, a brown-hair Obelisk Blue Student was dueling a Ra Yellow. The Ra student was short, with green hair' tips down; he had a frightened look on his face. I was now the Ra Yellow student turn, but he wasn't in good conditions to duel.
On Obelisk side of the field, there was Marauding Captain, a blonde warrior knight holding a sword (ATK: 1200 / DEF: 400); he had a set card on the field. The Ra student only had Mad Sword Beast, it looked like a hippopotamus creature with a green shell, with sword blades in its skin (ATK: 1400 / DEF: 1200).
Round ? – Obelisk Blue (OB): 200LP; Ra Yellow (RY): 300LP
"It's… my… turn." The Ra student drew his card, but he was looking down to his cards. He didn't know what was his best play, in his condition.
Jaden and Syrus were finished with their lunch, and with Jaden's 'duel-sensor' skill, they got the chance to check the duel happening and sit to the seat-row.
"Hey, that Ra yellow is actually winning! Nice." Syrus commented. Jaden only paid attention to the duel still going.
"What's wrong? It's your turn, you know!" the Obelisk student screamed annoyed, since his opponent was taking so long to do his plays.
"R-Right… Uhm" The Ra student answered, but he was still looking at his cards. While he was shaking his hand, Jaden got a close look of his card's images. Yubel was also there with him, Dee sitting next to Syrus too.
"That kid, he has that Spell Card, Earthquake: it changes all monsters on his opponent side of the field to defense mode. If he activates it, then he wins the game" Yubel explained. Dee was actually confused.
"But that doesn't fit well… if the monster is switched to defense, doesn't the owner of the monster get protected by the monster defense?" she asked.
"It would be THAT case, except that Mad Beast Sword has an ability: if he attacks a monster in defense mode, it deals piercing damage" Jaden answered, Dee understood nodding.
"And doing the Math's, the Ra student wins the duel by that effect. But it concerns me… the Obelisk student has a card face-down… what could possibly that card be?" Syrus ended the talking, but he was… with a concerned look. Jaden looked at him, then to the Ra student. They kind of looked the same person. Could it be…
"Hurry up and play something! I've been going easy on you, you know!" the Obelisk screamed again. From the down ground floor, other three Obelisk students were supporting his colleague.
"Whatever you do it's useless, you Ra Reject!" one mocked.
"There's no way you'll win, anyway. Hurry up!" the other continued.
"Is he even going to attack or not? He's just wasting any of our times. What a crude!" the last one finished, the other two agreeing to him.
"R-RIGHT!" The Ra student wanted to pick a card from his hand, but then he gasped for some air and closed his eyes. "I'll attack with my Mad Sword Beast to your Marauding Captain!", he said by instinct, but it was now too late for his mistake.
"You fell for this, fool! Reverse card, OPEN! I activate my Trap Card, Reinforcements: one monster on my side of the field gains 500 ATK points; I'll use on my Marauding Captain. Since you're battling him now, it's too late to give up! GO, 'Troop Commander'!", the Obelisk student declared, a red aura covering the captain, getting stronger (ATK: 1200 – 1700 / DEF: 400).
The Captain clashed his sword to the Mad Beast, destroying it to pixels; the Ra Yellow was screaming from losing Life Points.
"NO! I LOST!" he said, with his head down in shame (RY: 300 – 0)
"I knew it…" Jaden felt like he succeeded on seeing the problem of the problem. "The kid has stage fright too. Took me a while to understand his behaviors during this duel. He wanted to play the spell card, but he didn't have the courage to do so…"
"You seem to have a good eye, Jaden", Bastion appeared from the staircase, "His name's Brier, he has top scores on card theory and skill combinations; you could say he's a 'library rat'. But when comes to dueling, he gets too nervous; and ends up losing."
On the arena, Brier was still on his knees and head down. The pressure made him commit mistakes from his plays; to make things worse, the Obelisk Student added more salt on his wound.
"Do you think a guy like you will be an Obelisk Blue, no matter how hard you try?" Brier listened to that and grit his teeth, the Obelisk group now laughing at him.
"You should just hurry and give it up!" one student said.
"Maybe Slifer would fit you better; you make the Ra Yellows feel like easy meat!" another one added.
"Why would he even try to duel, if he can't even speak when he plays his cards?" the last one added.
"THAT'S ENOUGH!" Jaden screamed from his seat and got up from it, to walk to the Obelisk group. "If you guys dare to say another word… You'll have to deal with ME!" he hissed, for the fright of the Obelisk students, they now left the Stadium. Jaden's attention turned next to Brier.
Walking up to the arena, he decided to help Brier. "Hey, is everything alright?" Jaden offered him a hand. But Brier rejected his help, by slapping his hand away and left the arena.
"I… I'M FINE. JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" Brier passed through Jaden, to walk away from the Stadium. Jaden felt a spark, when Brier walked away from him. It was as if it wanted to tell him something, a bad feeling coming to him. He looked back at Brier; he saw a giant-looking duelist with a concerned look at his friend.
Yubel, Syrus, Dee and Bastion came close to him, but Yubel was the one asking him. "Are you okay, Jaden?". Jaden looked more serious, giving now attention to Yubel.
"I felt something, when he clashed his hand to mine. I sensed… like he was in need for rage, vengeance." Jaden answered, but then he looked Bastion. "Bastion, that big guy next him…"
"His name's Beauregard! If you're wondering about him being the Duel Giant, you can forget it… He's no duelist; he's trying to be a game designer." Bastion answered. "However, I've been wondering how he doesn't show any fear when he shows his projects in our classes. Even during my study group, where he was with Brier.
Syrus was actually curious about their conversation. "So, you're saying… Brier has the smarts for dueling, but gets nervous like me, during his dueling; and Beauregard is not a duelist, rather a game designer, but he doesn't get scared of no one. I still wonder why they get together…"
"What if, they're both duelist and helper?" Dee asked, trying to help.
"I surely do have a bad feeling about this, because I don't want you to be right, Dee…" Jaden still held on his serious look.
*the same day, at night*
In Ra Yellow dorm, Brier and Beauregard were in their room. Brier was putting some cards on the floor, with an angry look stuck on him. Anger and hate were everything he could think of…
"Damn it all… Making a fool of me like that… Those damn Obelisks! Always, always… ALWAYS getting in our way! They will PAY!"
At the same time, Jaden was outside, sitting in one of the Duel Academy statues, Syrus giving him company. He had his duel disk ready, waiting for his spirit friends to find something suspicious around the island, the Duel Giant being the main target. But it was taking so long, and Syrus was now yawning from get tired.
"Big Bro, is he really going to show up?"
"Probably, that's why I can't get tired myself over someone dangerous like him." Jaden answered.
"Trust me, Syrus… When comes to dueling, you don't want to mess up with Jaden over there." Dee explained, next to his summoner.
Over their chatting, they got to hear a screaming. They started to run to the direction of the screaming; Yubel was floating on top of the forest, indicating where it occurred the screaming. The Duel Giant would still be there.
While running, Jaden and Syrus saw an Obelisk Student kneeling, looking on the ground, depressed with his cards out from his deck slot, murmuring for his lost rare cards. 'That guy… was from this afternoon!' Syrus thought.
"Hold it!" Jaden screamed to someone in front of him, so he could turn his attention to him. "You´re Giant Duelist of the Dark Night, I take it?". That someone was wearing Obelisk Blue jackets covering his body, and dark glasses to hide his eyes.
"So… he IS the Duel Giant! He's so BIG, and that means big problems for us" Syrus exclaimed, trembling a little. "Big Bro, let's run away instead!"
"Why would I run away now, if I have the threat right in front of me… Now, Duel me!" Jaden challenged the Giant in front of him. "I also know that you play with the Anti Rule, so let's make this straight… if I lose, I'll forfeit you these cards!" Jaden open his deck slot and took out 'Mana', 'Berenice' and 'Cleo' cards.
"Big Bro, what are you doing? Those are your friends, don't do this…" Syrus asked him concerned, but Dee held his hand to give him attention to her. "Dee?"
"Let Jaden do what he's doing. You'll understand…" Dee told him, Syrus kept himself silent.
"They're the rarest cards you can think about, THE daughters of the Egyptian Gods… which I hold from the King of Games, my father Yugi Muto. So, what will it be?" Jaden asked serious.
"All right, but don't you regret it later!" the Duel Giant answered. Jaden and his opponent turned on their duel disks, declaring with a "DUEL!"
Round 1 – Duel Giant (DG): 4000LP; Jaden (J): 4000LP
"I'll go first! It's my turn, Draw!" The Duel Giant declared, drawing his card, "I activate the Spell Card, Allure of Darkness: I can draw 2 cards from my deck, then I must banish a DARK monster from my hand. If I don't, all my cards are sent to the graveyard" the Duel Giant drew his 2 cards.
"Luckily, I have a DARK monster; I'll banish Second Goblin. I'll set a monster and a card face-down. I'll end my turn!" the Giant declared with a monster face-down and a card face-down.
Syrus was looking at the Giant's field, thinking. "He's been beating those Obelisk Blues, if what professor Crowler said it's true. I wonder what kind of deck he's really playing."
"Whatever deck he's playing… I just hope Jaden can face him with his A-game!" Dee also murmured worried.
Round 2 – DG: 4000LP; J: 4000LP
"Do what you have to do, Jaden", Yubel wished good luck at his friend, he nodding while she vanishing.
"Very well, it's my turn!" Jaden drew his card. "I summon Elemental Hero Burstinatrix in Attack Mode!" Jaden inserted the card on his duel disk. On his side, a new Heroine surged from the field, wearing a red leotard covering some parts of her palled skin; she also had spiky armlets and knee pads, and a gold crown with a spike pointing upwards, holding her dark-grey hair. She was holding flames on her hands (ATK: 1200 / DEF: 800).
"I'll then Battle! Burstinatrix, attack the set monster, with 'Flare Storm'!" the heroine sent a Fire Ball from her hands that clashed to the monster. The monster revealed to be a little 'house', where some dust-particle-monsters with tails left from it when it got destroyed. (ATK 0 / DEF 1000)
"My set monster was my House Duston. Its effect activates when is destroyed: I can Special Summon any 'Duston' monsters from my hand or deck to ANYWHERE on the field, as long the number of monsters is the same; I'll special summon two Light Duston on my side of the field in Defense Mode. I'll next Special Summon Red Duston and Yellow Duston to your side of the field, in Attack Mode."
On the Giant side of the field, it appeared two white particles with tails and a mid-circle on top of their head, it looked like a lock 'symbol' (2 x (ATK 0 / DEF 1000)). On Jaden's side of the field, there were a red particle with a smirk and two horns replaced for eyebrows (ATK 0 / DEF 1000) and a yellow particle with a grumpy look and its eyebrows matched with his top lips (ATK 0 / DEF 1000). Just like any other Dustons, they had tails on their back.
"Whatever they are, they don't scare me. I'll throw-down 2 face-downs before ending my turn." Jaden declared; two cards being placed face-down.
Round 3 – DG:4000LP; J: 4000LP
The Duel Giant was staring at the field, it felt like he wasn't there to play it. Jaden took a chance to observe what he was doing. 'Why is he waiting to start his turn?' he thought.
"It's… It's my turn! Draw! And I summon Giant Orc, attack mode!" the Giant inserted the monster to the field. Like the card mentioned, a giant grey ogre appeared, holding a bone like it was a hammer. (ATK: 2200 / DEF: 0)
"I'll attack with him on your Red Duston!" the Giant declared, the Ogre held his bone up, to then crushing into the Red particle. Jaden screamed, taking damage from the monster's attack. (J: 4000 – 1800). "And next… comes the Red Duston effect: since it was destroyed on YOUR side of the field, you'll take 500 points of damage."
The Red Duston shadow appeared from the ground where Jaden was, and a holographic flame was sent to him, he screamed again. (J: 1800 – 1300)
"JAY-BIG BRO!", "Jaden!" Syrus and Dee screamed at him.
"To think… that such monsters with low levels could be this problematic…" Jaden murmured to himself. "But since you destroyed a monster on my side of the field, you helped me activate my Trap Card, Hero Signal: I can special Summon an 'Elemental Hero' monster from my deck; I'll Special Summon Elemental Hero Shadow Mist in Attack Mode!". Jaden inserted the card on his field, the Hero appearing on his side. (ATK 1000 / DEF 1500)
"And let me not forget his special ability: from my deck, I can add a 'Change' Quick-Play Spell to my hand!" Jaden explained, adding a card to his hand.
"… During the End of the Battle Phase… my Giant Orc is changed to Defense Mode. I end my turn!" the Giant declared.
Round 4 – DG: 4000LP; J: 1300LP
"Very well, I Draw for my Turn!" Jaden declared drawing his card, with a serious look. "I'll summon Elemental Hero Ocean in attack mode!" Jaden declared, inserting his card. A blue humanoid-creature appeared on Jaden's side of the field, holding a Bident weapon. He was wearing an abyss armor, with a horn on the top of his head. (ATK: 1500 / DEF: 1200)
"Then let's battle! My Shadow Mist will attack your Giant Orc, with 'Shadow Orb'!" the mentioned hero sent a dark ball from his hand, to destroy the orc in defense mode. "… then I'll use my Burstinatrix to attack one of your Light Dustons, 'Flare Storm'!", the heroine created her fire ball with both arms and sent it right to the light-dust-monster. From each explosion, the Giant was trying to cover himself with the vests from the clashing impacts.
"Then, I'll activate my Quick-Play Spell Mask Change II: I'll discard one card and send a monster I control to the graveyard, to special summon a 'Masked Hero' Fusion Monster with the same Attribute of the sent monster; I'll send the Yellow Duston you summoned on my side of the field."
"I-Impossible, you can't do that… the Duston cards cannot be used as a Fusion Material!" the Giant tried to understand what was happening.
"That's because I'm not performing a Fusion Summon. My Masked Hero Fusion Monsters can only be special summon by 'Mask Change', a Special Summoning that is not treated as a Fusion Summon. And since the Yellow Duston is an EARTH monster, I'll send it to the graveyard, to Special Summon Masked Hero Dian in attack mode!"
A brilliant mask appeared in front of the Yellow Duston, he curiously inserted his head in it. It started to shine everywhere; a new hero emerged from it. Its body was full of silver gems from the chest to the torso, a blue cape was open spreading on his back. He was holding a sharp sword on his right arm; his shinning mask was looking at the opponent. (ATK: 2800 / DEF: 3000)
"And since its still my Battle Phase; I'll use Dian to attack your last Light Duston, with 'Diamond Sword Slash'!", Masked Hero Dian went straight to the Light Duston, and did some sword-play to destroy the monster.
"Why would he attack such a strong monster to a weak monster like that one?" Syrus asked. Dee only answered with a smile "You'll see… Jaden is now doing his A game!"
"My Dian effect now activates: Since he destroyed your monster by battle, I can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower monster from my deck. I special summon… my level 4, Mana, Priestess of Sky Dragon in attack mode!" Jaden picked a card from his deck and inserted it on the field.
Mana appeared on Jaden's side of the field with a serious look; paled skin, red long hair, yellow eyes and a blue gem on her forehead; she was wearing her red lizard dress that looked like a kimono, with her red wings on her back. (ATK: 1600 / DEF: 1400)
"Mana, uncover the duelist identity! Attack directly with 'SOLEMN WIND STORM!" Mana nodded, holding her hands pointing the Giant, and her wind attack became real so his clothes could leave him, revealing the duelist. It was Beauregard on his Ra Yellow uniform, his dark glassed leaving his eyes; he was now covering himself. (DG: 4000 – 2400)
"HUH? It was actually Beauregard the Giant Duelist this WHOLE TIME? But that doesn't add to what Bastion said this afternoon." Syrus tried to understand what was going on.
Dee next to him then said "Maybe, that's because… he's NOT the actual Giant Duelist…".
Syrus turned his attention again to Dee, "Eh? He's not the one? What does that mean?"
Beauregard was now looking at his hand worried, "W-what should I do next?"
"How about ask your friend to just come out here? Let's face-off… and duel the right way!" Jaden said impatient.
From behind the rock where Beauregard was, Brier appeared from it, with a headphone with a microphone stuck on it. "How did you find out?" he asked.
"When you slapped away my hand, when I tried to help you… I felt your anger, hate. I knew it would happen tonight: the arrival of the 'Duel Giant of the Dark Night', to face the Obelisk Blues that you dueled this evening. We heard from Bastion, that your 'puppet' here doesn't have the same fear you have when you're looking at the opponent. So easily, you were simply controlling his plays, while hiding yourself." Jaden explained with a serious look. Brier just reacted with his teeth gritting.
"Calling my friend a 'puppet'! Saying that is impossible for me to achieve my goals… Throwing me and Beauregard DOWN just because we're just Ra Yellows. WHY DOES EVERYONE HAVE TO KEEP INSULTING US? JUST TO ENJOY WATCHING US SUFFER?" Brier asked angrily. "I was born with nervous tics; it was a genetic thing! I was bullied when I was a kid, these assholes… laughing at me, because I couldn't talk in public at school!" Brier tried to explain, rage getting into him. Syrus knew what that feeling was: anxiety, despair. That would turn a person crazy.
"Years of suffering caused me to almost give up on my life… not when I met Beauregard on my 3rd year of school, before I got to transfer to this school. I thought that if I was with him, I would feel protected, but he also holds fears with him. He doesn't want to harm nobody… but when people try to harm us, insult us… throwing us down… those PIECE OF SHIT OBELISK BLUES! If we show them the same fear… they no longer treat us with no harm… ANYMORE!" Brier screamed, the hatred also getting into him too.
"So… you decided to apply the Anti Rule…" Jaden said with anger. His eyes were looking at him, with an almost death-glare. "Taking out a rare card from your opponent to show them fear… is that the conclusion you decided to get to?"
"And what's the problem with that? Is just a 'card', nobody gets harmed by that! We don't bully like them, we only ruin their pride…" Brier smirked from what he said, oblivious of what Jaden's reaction.
"SILENCE! YOU BEST FUCKING TAKE BACK WHAT YOU JUST SAID!" Jaden yelled at him; Brier actually got silenced by that… order. Syrus, in another reaction, was… scared of Jaden. He never heard him swear. His Big Bro, the most calm and relaxed person he ever met; the one who gave him hope to keep smiling whenever he was around the island. Dee just placed a hand on his shoulder, Syrus felt her touching while she nodded at him.
"It's okay, Syrus… Let Jaden speak his true feelings." Dee murmured to Syrus, he now was more relaxed.
"Ruining someone's 'pride'? Who gives a shit about that? WHAT DO YOU WIN WITH FUCKING PRIDE? IF YOU'RE TAKING OUT SOMEONE'S CARD, YOU'RE THREATNING THE SCHOOL STUDENTS! Have you ever thought what will the others think about what you really are by taking out their cards, also during an illegal time to duel? You're going to get treated like criminals! WHAT'S THE FUCKING POINT OF A SCHOOL FOR YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE? A jail? A killing arena? Grow the FUCK UP!" Jaden snapped at the Ra Yellows.
"SHUT UP! No matter what you do… We will win this! And we'll be the ones to Silence You Up!" Brier answered, looking at him challengingly.
"I want to see you try… Because my Battle Phase is still not over! Ocean, unleash your direct attack, 'Wave Spiral Spout'!", the Hero Humanoid held his bident pointing to his opponent, and unleashed a water wave, that splashed into both the Ra Yellow students, their life points decreasing. (DG: 2400 – 900)
"I'll end my turn… Now… show me what you can do to stop my wrath!" Jaden glared at them.
Round 5 – DG: 900LP; J: 1300LP
"Grr… How dare you! It's OUR turn… Draw!" Brier declared, his friend drawing the card, "it's time to finish this! I flip over my Set Card! The Continuous Trap, DNA Surgery: I can declare a Monster-Type I can think of, and all monsters on the field become that same Type; and I declare: Fiend-Type!" Brier said, his trap being activated.
On the Jaden's side of the field, Burstinatrix and Mana grew some red horns on their heads, and devil tails, they now looked like Succubus… and Shadow Mist, Ocean and Masked Hero Dian got red eyes, and a threatening look on their face, claws appearing on them. All Jaden's monsters were now Fiends.
"You wondering why I had this card set do you? That's because it's so useful, when I have this monster in hand. Appear, Goblin King!" Brier declared, a little green goblin with king's robes appeared to his side of the field, with a big smirk on his face (ATK: 0 / DEF: 0). "And he might look weak, but he's our Ace Monster: his effect lets him add 1000 ATK points for each other Fiend-Type monster on the field; Without him, there's your 5 monsters… so that means his attack is raised to 5000 ATK!" Brier declared with an imp smile, the Goblin King feeling himself getting stronger and wicked than the other monsters. (ATK: 0 – 5000)
"Oh no! Jaden!", "Big Bro! Don't you dare lose this, you heard ME?" Dee and Syrus said now, concerned to his brother/friend. Jaden only looked at the Goblin King with a disappointed look. It was a shame that the 'Duel Giant' was strong, but to think they would apply the Anti-Rule. He gritted his teeth, to think about all that again…
"And let's just add some more bonus… I'll activate the Spell Card, Monster Reborn: I can revive Giant Orc sleeping in my graveyard." Brier added, his monster appeared holding his bone again. (ATK: 2200 / DEF: 0) With Giant Orc on the field, Goblin King felt stronger. (ATK: 5000 – 6000)
"LET'S FINISH THIS! Goblin King… attack Masked Hero Dian, with 'Tyrant Knuckle'!" the Goblin King screamed, with his right fist ready to destroy Jaden's monster. Jaden knew what to do…
"I flip over my face-down. It's my Trap Card, Hero Barrier: If I control an 'Elemental Hero' monster on my side of the field, I can negate one opponent attack that takes place; I'll negate your Goblin King' attack!" Jaden explained, Goblin King clashed his fist to a barrier that appeared in front of him.
"Grr, Fine! Then my Giant Orc will attack your Shadow Mist. Destroy him!", Giant Orc screamed and ran to the Dark Hero, with his bone crushing him; Jaden screaming with almost no life points left (J: 1300 – 100).
"I activate… Shadow Mist's effect: when he's sent to the graveyard, I can add a 'Hero' monster to my hand." Jaden informed, adding a card to his hand.
"My Giant Orc is then switched to defense mode. Consider yourself lucky for surviving these attacks, Slifer! But you're going down next turn, since I'll end this one." Brier declared.
"There won't be… a next turn for you!" Jaden said, ready to draw his card.
Round 6 – J: 100LP; DG: 900LP
"IT'S MY TURN! And you're going to regret not attacking my Mana, because she has an effect: During the next Standby Phase she was summoned to the field, I can send her to the graveyard…" Jaden declared, picking her card from the duel disk; Mana on the field started shinning, with winds around her turning stronger.
"Big Bro is sending his friend to the graveyard… why does that sound so familiar?" Syrus asked curiously.
"Oh, you'll see why… The game is over! Jaden won." Dee informed Syrus, smiling, while he looked at her. She really was like Jaden's sister.
Jaden looked at Mana, she nodded back, ready for her transformation; and Jaden took a card from his deck. "'Priestess of the livid sky, rise and turn yourself into a glorious being that will make your foes descent on your knees'! I present to you my Priestess evolved form. From my deck, I Special Summon the Level 7, Mana, The Sky Dragon Empress."
Mana was now floating on the sky with her red wings, they now looked enormous than before. Her hands and feet became claws, she had now a more keened eyesight. She was also way taller than before; her blue gem was now in a helmet she wore in her head. The winds over her were now furious storms; she clashed the field, with a wicked look. (ATK: 2500 / DEF: 2000)
"So… so what, the card's still weaker than my Goblin King… and let's not forget that with DNA Surgery on the field, it also becomes a Fiend-Type monster. My Goblin attack is still intact!" Brier informed. The only thing that changed on Mana was her eyes' colors switching to red.
"Not for so long… My Mana Empress has an effect: if it was special summon by the effect of 'Mana, Priestess of Sky Dragon', I can return as many cards I control to my hand, to return the same number of cards you control to your hand!" Jaden explained, and the Ra Yellow students gasped. "I'll return my Elemental Heroes Burstinatrix and Ocean to my hand; to return your Giant Orc and Goblin King to your Hand!" Jaden said with his eyes closed and shouted. "'Solemn Storm Punishment'!"
Mana's wind storms made Jaden's monsters flash into particles, to return to his summoner's hand; the same storms appeared to the Ra Yellow students' field, the monsters getting returned to their hand.
"And next I summon Elemental Hero Stratos in attack mode!" Jaden inserted his card to the duel disk, the turbine hero emerged to the field (ATK: 1800 / DEF: 300). "And I activates its effect, when I summoned it: I can destroy as many Spells/Traps on the field, up to the number of 'Hero' monsters I control; since I still control my Masked 'HERO' Dian, I'll destroy your DNA Surgery!" Jaden explained, the Ra Yellow field was now empty.
"… To think that you would be stupid enough, to try finding a 'good excuse' to do these Anti Rule duels without nobody else noticing… showing horror to the students around the school. I'll fucking show you… to not MESS AROUND on this school for the last time!" Jaden snarled, ready to end this duel.
"My Mana, the Sky Dragon Empress… will attack your life points directly! 'SKY DRAGON SCOURGE'!" Mana's Storm Winds formed into a furious cyclone, that went straight to his opponent. They were now screaming, their Life Points decreasing. (DG: 900 – 0)
JADEN WON THE GAME
Jaden turned off his Duel Disk, his holograms leaving from the field. Yubel appeared next to him, with a concerned look. "Are you okay, Jaden? Aren't you hurt anywhere?"
"I'm fine! I needed this…" Jaden told, still with his angry-serious look, Yubel sighed understanding what he meant. Jaden was now walking close to the Ra Yellows laying on the floor.
"We lost… Do what you like! Laugh at us… Tell us to give up… Insult us, for your own satisfaction!" Brier frowned.
"Brier…" Beauregard looked at his friend, then turned his attention to Jaden, "Forgive my friend, I'll be the one to take the guilt!"
"B… Beauregard. Why?" Brier asked, his friend sighing.
"I was really happy… when you got angry and worried about me over yourself! You show a talent that I can't see from other people I've met before. You showed me motivation, when we did this duel. That's why I wanted to do something to pay you back! As a duelist like you, you'll become stronger, I know it." the big friend explained.
"But… you're going to be a game designer, aren't you? Your works have been going great, you're excellent on what you do."
"I don't mind about that. My friend's safety comes first, my dreams second to none…"
Jaden was about to say something about the professor Crowler's assignment, when he felt someone pushing his jacket sleeve. He turned his back to see Syrus, with his head face-down to cover himself. He just sighed, then told the Ra Students, still in a threatening tone.
"We've been asked… to have this special assignment to expose your identity as the Duel Giant. However, I'm going to let it pass through! You pests leave from my sight and put the cards back on a place where anyone who lost them can find them. But I swear: if I see more students threatened by this kind of things again, by your fault… I won't forgive you next time!"
"Y- YES!" the Ra Yellow student answered scared, leaving now to their dorm room.
It was now Jaden, Syrus, and the spirits alone at the forest. Yubel and Dee just excused themselves, they were now tired and decided to return to the Monster Realm to rest.
"I guess… I went a little overboard, didn't I?" Jaden tried to sound calm now, but Syrus just backed off from him. It was as if he didn't know THAT Jaden. It felt like he was a stranger to him.
"I'm… I'm sorry, Sy. I didn't mean to reveal this side of me… not to you, neither our friends. They don't need to meet this… real side of me." Jaden tried to explain on his words, but Syrus interrupted him.
"Big Bro… just be honest with me. What really happened?"
"… that Anti Rule… winners getting the losers best card. It's a trauma I suffered when I was little. Just like you, I adore my cards. They're like a second family to me… I would even put my life in danger, just to keep them safe from… danger." Jaden tried to explain the best he could.
"So, you mean… people already did… bad things to you, in order to get your cards?" Syrus asked, Jaden nodded.
"I got hospitalized… Five years ago! From selfish gowned up kids… trying to take out my cards. I… wanted to protect them with all my might, but they… beat me down in cold blood. My wounds… weren't easy to recover, and I… passed away from blood loss. But that's not all! My 'real' family, they… expelled me from home… because they felt that Yubel was a threat to them" Jaden said, trembling a little from remembering his memory.
'Oh MY GOD!' Syrus thought while listening to him, frowning a little to himself from regret for making Jaden remember a memory like that from his past. So, he instinctively hugged Jaden, the brwonette started to let out tears.
"Jaden, you IDIOT! If you told me about that before… you wouldn't let me get this worried about you! You're my best friend, aren't you? I kept telling you… everything I know about myself… because I care about you, Big Bro! So please… don't hide nothing from me!" Syrus said, trying not to cry too, but it was impossible for him to hold his tears.
"I-I know… I was just… scared. From my past. Keeps hunting me down… from knowing there's still people out there… doing bad stuff to the weak ones. I don't like it… It doesn't seem right." Jaden held tight on Syrus hug/grip. Syrus only got so say one last thing.
"I promise you… I'll never harm you, and our closest friends. Ever since I met you, you have been changing my life in such ways I can't explain. I'm very thankful for you, Jay-Big Bro."
"Th… Thanks Sy… I'll also promise you the same thing. You really are a good friend… and a brother to me." Jaden said, now more relaxed.
"You too Jay… You too!" Syrus informed, his worried tears turning now from joy.
- End of Chapter 6 –
During Syrus birthday party, Jaden took a chance to talk with Alexis at a corner of the room. He still felt a little embarrassed, but decided to grow some courage.
"Hey Lex…" he waved at her.
"Oh, hey Jaden. Good to see you around here… So, it's your little bro's birthday?"
"Y… yeah, it really is… I had everything ready for his special party. But… things aside. You remembered when, you know… we shook our hands during that night, and… that memory occurred?" Jaden asked her, with a nervous look.
"I did… it felt so awkward. Like… seeing you there, a new 'you'. It felt, nostalgic at same time. But unfortunately, I can't remember everything." Alexis explained, a little disappointed.
"I… I just want to say, that next time you want to… you know, know more about our past life's together with me, you're free to ask me for…" Jaden wanted to keep going with the talk, but it was really hard for him to ask her out. Alexis only laughed a little, with a nod.
"I would like it. Someday, possibly sooner than you expect" she said with a challenging-smile look, she then left the Slifer Dorm to go to her room. Jaden blushed a little, rubbing the back of his head; he then turned his attention to Syrus… he was looking at him, together with Dee. They had a funny look on their faces.
"So, little brother Jaden has a crush…" Dee teased at him.
"I wouldn't say 'crush'. Big Bro actually was the one joking around asking if Alexis had fallen in love at him in the first place…" Syrus mentioned, Dee laughing by that topic she didn't know.
"Oh, I so want to hear more about that…"
"Syrus, you're so dead…" Jaden told Syrus jokingly, then sighed. Despise Syrus' cocky acts, he was still a trustful friend to him.
Such a touching chapter, for two reasons: Syrus being... Syrus in his kind side; and Jaden true self getting revealed on this chapter. This is why I changed the chapter, before we get to the Slifer's Writing and Dueling Exam. I'm hoping you lads and gents didn't feel dissapointed by this. I tried to be as dramatic as possible in this chapter, that I almost cried too from how beautiful it looked to me, ahahah... I would just make a joke with this: "this chapter was sooo sad *sad emoji face*! Can we get 1k Favorites on this story? It's just soo sad". I'm just joking of course... I don't want to force people to do this stuff (also because this won't be the only dramatic chapter you will read; the future just keep holding more surprises and surprises for my story, te-heheh)
Like I said, tomorrow will be my last vacation day, I'll try to write more duing these two days I have free time right now; and I want your people help too. Just follow my lives on Twitch, and tell me what you want to see on future chapters. Even when I'm playing Brawlhalla, don't worry... I'll insert my ideas in my futuristic diary: a notepad. You probably know already, tom_my_master is the name of my Twitch. Leave Rates & Reviews and I'll See You Later! Adios!
