The Man Behind The Bat
Chapter 6: Coffee?
Harleen was watching TV in her one-bedroom apartment she shared with Pamela. The two had returned home delightful after their romp with the dark knight. Harleen laid on the couch wearing a white t-shirt and red shorts. She was getting bored while waiting for her friend to finish her shower. She would've joined her but they had been through enough excitement for one night.
Pamela exited the bathroom with a towel around her head and another around her body, finished with her shower. She stole Harleen's attention with a "Hey!". Harleen turned her head to look at her friend. Pamela then unwrapped her towel revealing her naked wet body to Harleen. Her previously overgrown pubic hair had been shaved off completely.
"Happy now?" Pamela asked.
"And here I thought you were against deforestation," Harleen joked.
"Ugh. The water's still warm if you want to shower," Pamela replied irritated.
She wrapped her towel around her body and walked into their bedroom while Harleen quickly stood up to enter the bathroom. Once inside the bathroom, Harleen left her shirt and shorts on the floor and stepped into the bathtub to shower.
Pamela had been drying off her body and hair in the bedroom when she felt a cold breeze. One of the bedroom windows was open and was letting in that breeze. She closed it thinking that Harleen left it open. After drying off, she walked to her closet to take some clothes. The moment she opened it, two shadowy arms reached out to grab her, one hand grabbed her mouth and the other grabbed her waist to pull her inside. Kicks and moans could be heard for a few seconds before they stopped completely.
Harleen was still showering, humming some song to herself. She thought about all the things they could use Batman's secret identity for and it made her smile. She was too lost in her thoughts to notice the bathroom door opening slowly, too lost to notice a hand on the shower curtain. The curtain was pulled aside and Harleen turned around while covering herself to scream at the figure. A black hand grabbed her face before everything went black for her.
A few minutes later, Harleen and Pamela slowly opened their eyes before gasping awake. They tried to move but were restrained by thin but strong grey wires. Their wet, naked bodies were tied up in a position that made it look like Harleen was humping Pamela from behind. They looked up to see the man responsible for their situation: Batman.
"Batman!? But how!?" the two women questioned.
"I was eventually going find you on my own but Selina saved me a day," Batman explained.
"Oh, that bitch," Pamela growled.
"I thought she was 'Catwoman' not 'Ratwoman'. It's not fair! I sweared!" Harleen complained while struggling, unintentionally humping Pamela.
"You had your fingers crossed, didn't you?" Batman replied.
"Aw shit…" Harleen admitted.
"That explains how you found us but not what this tie-up is about," Pamela interrupted.
Batman removed his cowl and crouched down to face Pamela and Harleen. He glared at them the way he does when he is serious.
"I know you swayed the doctors into releasing you two from Arkham."
"I might've," Pamela dejectedly responded.
"You did. I have the evidence. If all I wanted to do was find where you were hiding after your release, I would've found you days ago. I took the time to find out how your last days at Arkham were like along with the circumstances of your release. Any crimes you commit would send you right back to Arkham with an extended sentence and you two committed just enough. Including kidnapping and attempting to blackmail one of the most powerful people in Gotham: Bruce Wayne."
Pamela could not say anything. Harleen gulped.
"You'll keep my secret and stay out of trouble because even if you tell, few would believe you and you know why."
Bruce slipped his cowl back on and opened the window.
"Hey! What about Catwoman?" Harleen asked.
"Selina has known my secret since Hush and kept it since. The fact that she never told either you is proof that she keep my identity secret," Batman replied before grappling away.
"Selina knew the whole time!? That lying, cheating, stealing-" Pamela complained.
"Sooooo…they DIDN'T have sex with their masks on orrrrr…?" Harleen interrupted.
Pamela growled as she tried to tear herself free. The two would spend some time breaking their bonds while Bruce got some much-deserved rest.
The morning after, Bruce woke up feeling more relaxed than usual. He took a shower and washed away any remaining stress he had in the past few weeks. He finished and proceeded to get dressed when Alfred knocked on his door.
"Sir, there is someone at the door," Alfred stated.
"Could you get it Alfred?" Bruce politely asked.
"You may want to greet this one yourself," Alfred ominously replied.
Bruce looked confusedly at his door and quickly dressed himself. He put on some black sweatpants, black shoes, and a grey long-sleeved shirt before walking to his front door. He opened it and smiled. Selina was standing there with a wide smile and a raised eyebrow. She was wearing a white button-up shirt with a black jacket on top, black pants, short black heeled boots and a dark brown leather purse.
"Hey there Bruce. I wanted to talk and go out with you, spend some time, get some things out. Just the two of us," Selina explained.
"On a rooftop?" Bruce teased.
Selina smiled and rolled her eyes.
"Coffee?"
"Coffee."
"Come inside. I'll be ready in a few."
Selina walked inside the manor and waited in the living room while Bruce went back to his room to get a change of clothes. Even though Selina has been here before, she still can't get over how big Bruce's living room was compared to her whole apartment. She was sitting in a couch across Alfred who was drinking tea.
"How are you Miss Kyle?" Alfred asked.
"I'm fine Alfred, thank you. How about you?" Selina politely replied.
"Fine as well, thank you."
"So how has he been? Is he still mad about last night?"
"No, I don't think so. He is actually more relaxed today."
"And you?"
"Cautious."
"I'll try to make up for that."
"He trusts you, you know. Not fully, but it's a start."
Alfred finished his tea as Bruce came into the living room. He was now wearing a grey shirt with a black blazer on top, black dress pants, polished black shoes and a silver watch.
"Shall we?" readied Bruce.
Selina stood up and followed Bruce to one of his fancy cars. It wasn't the Batmobile but it was sure to get people's attention. Bruce drove them to a café in central Gotham. Bruce ordered coffee for two and he and Selina took a seat at a table by a large window. Several eyes were on them along with several more whispers. Bruce and Selina paid no mind to them as they conversed.
"And I thought I was the best at stealing people's attention," Selina remarked.
"Who's to say they're not looking at and talking about you?" Bruce asked.
"Bruce, you flatter," Selina responded.
A waitress came to serve their coffee. Bruce and Selina thanked her and talked some more after she left. They made small talk before Selina brought up what was really on her mind.
"I hope…last night…didn't ruin anything we had going on," Selina nervously spoke.
"Not at all," Bruce simply replied. Selina was surprised at how quickly he got over it.
"Don't get me wrong. I'm still upset about what you and your friends did but you got what you wanted and helped me catch them early," Bruce said as he sipped his coffee.
"So…we're good for now?" Selina asked.
"We're good, for now," Bruce assured.
Selina breathed a sigh of relief before continuing.
"So what did you tell them to keep quiet?" Selina wondered.
"I just told them that I have enough evidence about their 'early release' to send them right back to Arkham. That and that they deserve to be in Arkham if they think they can blackmail me," Bruce lightly exaggerated.
"Ouch," Selina winced. "Will you ever use that kind of work to put me away forever?"
"If I have to," Bruce stated.
The two sat silently as they drank their coffee after that statement. Selina finished her cup before questioning some more.
"Why don't you?"
Bruce finished his coffee and set his cup down before answering.
"Because I know you can change."
Selina was pensive about that statement.
"You do what you do for the money and thrill. But there were moments where you showed me that isn't all you have to be. It doesn't always have to end with me putting my repeat offenders in Arkham or Blackgate. Anyone can change for the better. That includes you, Harley, Ivy and yes, even people like the Joker."
Selina was touched by this. It was a side of Bruce that she had missed.
"That means a lot Bruce. It really does," Selina started. "But just because I change a little for the better, that doesn't mean I'll give up the thrill entirely. I still love a good chase after all."
"I don't expect you to give that up so soon," Bruce understood.
"I'll just make it up to you here and there and no, not just THAT way you freak," Selina teased.
"You're the one with a whip," Bruce teased back.
The two shared a laugh together for a while before relaxing and enjoying each other's company in silence. Selina stood up ready to leave.
"This was great Bruce. I wish we can do this more often."
"We can Selina. Do you need a ride?"
"No, I think I'll walk. Take some time to think about things. I appreciate it though."
"See you soon."
Selina walked out of the café and onto the streets. She took this moment to contemplate.
"So Bruce and I CAN have a life together outside of the masks. I just gotta make some small changes here and there. Nothing so drastic, just a little less…criminal? Illegal? I mean…if he doesn't know then…oh who am I kidding? He'll find out eventually. Especially-"
Selina's thoughts were interrupted when she bumped into a woman wearing expensive jewelry.
"Watch where you walk!" the woman scolded.
"Sorry about that," Selina apologized before walking away. She continued her thinking.
"So yeah. Just a few changes and people will think that I've gone legit."
Selina then looked at the diamond bracelet she just swiped from the woman and smirked.
"Gone legit. Yeah right."

It took a long while but I finally finished this story. I was actually writing another story while I was writing this one. It was a story that I spent months thinking about and writing and am going to put some more time into writing. I do plan to write more stories set in this universe, but it will be a while before those come out.
