I've been happy to hear how much you all have been enjoying this story so far, my only regret is there aren't nearly as many HxH stories out there as there should be. I love Naruto, just check the stories, but I would argue HxH is just as good if not better so it kills me that there are thousands more Naruto fics than HxH. If anyone out there is up for starting a story, especially those who've only been reading up to this point I urge you to start some of your own as well. Enjoy.

"Woah!" Nora exclaimed as the three stood before their new home. "This whole place is ours?!"

Killua nodded with a smile. "Yep, all us." He said looking up at the two story house settled in the heavily wooded area. It was a sturdy brick house with a chimney on the south side. Four bedrooms, three bathroom, two thousand square feet and a fully finished basement. Powered by solar panels on the roof and an emergency dust powered generator in the back. They had a fresh water well as well as a water tank connected to the house. To top everything else off Killua also owned seven acres of the surrounding land.

After the jobs he'd completed in Mistral he'd immediately decided they needed to leave the city, on their way to the airport he'd noticed demonstrations all around the city and heard on the radio that the grimm presence in the area surrounding the city had nearly doubled. He booked them the first flight to Vale where they stayed at a hotel for a couple days while he looked for a house for sale. Two and a half million lien later he found himself the brand new owner of a house and patch of land on a Island just off the coast named Patch.

"What are you waiting for, go check it out." He told the two children, Nora taking off while dragging Ren behind her. Killua turned and looked out over the surrounding forest, a single dirt path lead up to the front of the house. Patch was a pretty didn't have a massive community, around the port was a town of about two thousand, it was only about three from the house. There was also the combat school Signal in town though he didn't have any plans of enrolling Nora and Ren. They'd attend the local school for a standard academic education while he trained them personally, it would allow them to socialize with other kids their ages.

Pulling out his scroll he checked the time, is was only noon and the bullhead he hired to deliver their furniture would be arriving soon. Turning back to the house Killua began walking towards the entrance, while he waited he might as well assess what kind of security upgrades he was gonna need to implement. Stepping up to the door he looked it over, immediately deciding it would be the first change. Flimsy composite wood with only a deadbolt as a lock, it was just begging to be kicked down.

Later

Killua peeked into Ren's room, the boy was fast asleep in his bed. With a nod Killua moved further down the hall to Nora's room, she was also out cold with several large stuffed animals surrounding her on her bed, her snoring nearly echoing around her room. Satisfied they were fine he silently moved down the stairs to his room where he grabbed a white jacket with a grey fur hood and had different black smiley faces that look like they were spray painted. Pulling it on he quickly checked the time and moved to the front door.

Exiting he locked the door behind him. Turning to the dirt path that lead into town he took off in run, the forest passing by him quickly as he covered the full three miles in under five minutes. It wasn't his top running speed, closer to a fast jog than an all out sprint for him, of course compared to his Speed of Lightning even him sprint speed was laughable. He'd worked his ass off over the past couple years perfecting his Hatsu and improving his mastery over nen and the fruits of his labor were clear to him. He just wished Gon were with him to see what he could do now, he'd yet to meet anyone here on Remnant that was capable of pushing him hard enough to actually require him to even flip his switch.

He soon made his way to the airpads and waited as people began boarding a flight to Vale, buying a ticket he boarded and grabbed a window seat. Looking out into the distance, even from Patch he could see his destination.

Beacon Tower

Ozpin looked over the exam grades for this years graduates, out of the thirty eight graduates to take the exam only nineteen passed. It was a common misconception that simply attending and completing one of the four major combat schools was all it took to become a licensed huntsmen or huntress, this wasn't entirely true.

Attending a combat school ensured that the student is taught everything they'd need to know and all the skill they'd need to have to pass the exam to get ones license. While it was true that having a diploma from a combat school was very useful and definitely went a long wait to influencing an examiners decision on whether or not someone is qualified to be a huntsmen. Every year a number of graduates failed and were force to wait six months to attempt it again, if they were skilled enough to survive of course. While not overly common it wasn't entirely rare for someone to die during the exam, luckily there hadn't been any casualties this year, though the exam period before this one had three deaths.

"Mr. Grey failed this exam? I'm surprised, he was among the top of all of his classes." Glynda said as she read over the reports on the exams as well.

"As was I, it would appear that he was suffering from a bad case of food poisoning the day of the exam. According to his team they had all gone out to celebrate graduation two days before and on a bet he ate twelve cheeseburgers at a dive bar in Vale, unfortunately the establishment had a rather low rating from the health board and some of the meat had gone bad." Ozpin explained. "I have no doubt he will pass the next exam in six months." A light on the headmasters desk began blinking earning a raised eyebrow from the man. "Glynda, were you expecting anybody tonight? A meeting with a student or such?"

"No Professor why?" She asked before seeing the blinking light that indicated the elevator was on it's way up.

Both looked to the elevator door and waited several more seconds until the lift arrived with a ding, sliding open the doors revealed the elevator to be empty. The pair looked at each other and Ozpin shrugged. "That's odd, perhaps I should call a technician to look it over in the morning." He suggested.

"Ugh, this coffee is so bitter, got any cream or sugar?" A voice asked from next to the headmaster.

"Of course, there's some in that cabinet against the wall over..." Ozpin paused and turned to the source of the voice, a young man he was absolutely certain hadn't been in the room a moment ago was now leaning against his desk sipping from a mug that, with a glance, he confirmed was indeed his. He was a boy of average height with snow white hair and sapphire blue eyes. He wore a white coat with a fur hood and a pair of grey pants, on his feet were a pair of black and white running shoes. "Good evening young man, how can I help you?" The headmaster asked regaining his composure quickly.

"I was hoping to talk to you but didn't really know how to go about setting up a meeting, so I figured I'd drop in and hopefully catch you when you were free." The boy looked over to Glynda who was clearly more than a little on edge, her eyes narrowed at him as she pressed several things on her scroll.

"You're not a student here, the only way to access the elevator is to use a students scroll." Her was far more harsh than ordinary.

Reaching into his pocket the teen pulled out a scroll and placed it on the headmasters desk. "Yeah I noticed that so I lifted this off a girl in a Beacon uniform when I walked passed her, you can give that back to her."

Ozpin took the scroll. "Thank you for returning it, now I must admit you have my curiosity Mr..."

"Killua Zoldyck." The boy answered.

"Well you've certainly earned my attention Mr. Zoldyck, how can I held you this evening?" Ozpin asked again.

Killua took a few steps back from the desk so the headmaster could get a good look at him. "I want to be a huntsmen." He said simply. "Well not really want I should say, I don't really care all that much about the 'guardians of humanity' deal. I mainly just care about the privilege's and freedoms that having the license provides. Huntsmen work sounds easy and pays well so if I'm gonna do something I don't see why not do that." He explained, his answers seeming to anger the woman now next to Ozpin.

"Well young man, I believe you'll find the life of a huntsmen to be far more difficult and complex than you seem to believe. It is a life long commitment that requires endless hard work and dedication." Glynda scolded the boy, who appeared unaffected by her 'lecture voice' as the headmaster had dubbed it. "If you wish to attend Beacon you can submit an application and take the entr-"

"Oh I don't want to go to your school." Killua waved her off. "I want to take the Huntsmen's exam now, I don't have time to waste at some dumb school." He said only enraging the blonde woman even further.

Ozpin frowned a bit at that. "Young man, I'm not entirely sure you realize what you're asking for. The Huntsmen's exam is an incredibly difficult and dangerous exam that people train their entire lives to prepare for. The possibility of injury or death is extremely high even for fully trained adults." Ozpin spoke trying to reason with the odd boy.

Killua pulled out his scroll and opened up a file before putting it on the headmasters desk. "According to the Huntsmen bylaws, if a candidate of legal age, in Vale that's seventeen, wishes to apply to take the exam and signs the standard consent form as well as pay the exam fee they are able to do so at their own risk regardless of their experience or education. Section four twenty two, subsection D." Reaching into his pocket once again he pulled out a stack of lien and set it on the desk next to the scroll. "Twenty five thousand lien is the standard exam fee I believe, now I just need to sign those forms while in the presence of the chairmen of the Vale Huntsmen's Organization which is one Headmaster Ozpin of Beacon Academy."

Ozpin read over the bylaws already aware that the boy was indeed correct. "Young man, Killua, please reconsider this." Ozpin said in an almost pleading tone. "I can tell by looking at you and the way you carry yourself you most definitely trained to some extent. Your ability to get the drop on not only myself but also Ms. Goodwitch is impressive, but taking the exam at your age and without a great deal of field experience. It's downright suicidal."

"Sorry gramps but my mind is made up, I'm taking the exam and I will pass it."

Days Later

It had taken longer to set things up for the exam then Killua had thought it would though he supposed it was stupid to think he could just show up and they have everything set up and waiting for him. He hadn't yet told Ren or Nora that he was taking the exam, he wanted to surprise them with his license. As a licensed huntsmen he would have the ability to take jobs hunting grimm for extra cash, not that he really needed the money, he still had a pretty healthy amount from his time as an assassin.

More importantly with the license he could claim to be independently employed without actually having to work and the only reason he cared about that was because in Vale a legal guardian, foster parent or any other person who are not the biological parent wishing to take custody of children while under the age of twenty one was required to employed among several other requirements. Killua had already met every other requirement and once he completed this exam and got his license he could legally take custody of Nora and Ren as their legal guardian. It was an annoying series of hoops he was forced to jump through that hadn't been present in Mistral, they were much looser with most of their laws there.

"Mr. Zoldyck, we're about to perform the fly over area." Ozpin said from across the cabin of the bullhead. "It's not to late, you can still back out. If you do I will provide you with a full refund of your exam fee, I'll even offer you a scholarship for a full term at Beacon. Just please don't throw your life away." The man was almost begging him just as he and every other person he'd spoke to in the process this exam up. Killua understood why they were acting this way, they had no way of knowing what he was capable of. To them he was just an over confident teenager who was getting in over his head, it didn't change how annoying it was.

"Sorry old man, I'm doing this. Now what's my objective?" Killua asked completely dismissing the headmasters concerns.

He held Ozpin's gaze for several seconds before the man let out a tired, sorrowful sigh of resignation. "Very well." He said closing his eyes. "We will be flying over the fallen, grimm infested, city of Mountain Glenn. Within the city are four trained huntsmen, each is in possession of medallion. You well be given three days to find one of these huntsmen and take possession of one of these medallions away from them. Once done you will fire the provided flare gun into the air to call for evac. If at any point in the exam you wish to give up you can fire said flare and evac will come. Do you understand?" Ozpin asked the boy.

"Find the huntsmen, take their medallion and call for pick up. Sounds easy enough." Killua nodded before walking to the hatch on the side of the airship.

The door opened allowing wind to blow violently into the cabin. "I wish you luck young man." Ozpin said with sad eyes. Without saying anything in return Killua jumped.

Six Hours Later

Ozpin sat in his chair looking out the window of his tower, it was almost noon and he hadn't gotten any actual work done. He'd been thinking about that boy this entire time. In his long long life Ozpin had seen countless people die, as a king he'd sent hundreds and hundreds to their deaths whether it be against grimm or in war. As a Headmaster he'd sent students on mission that would end up killing them, but never had he sent someone suicide mission they had no chance of actually completing. He'd tried everything in his power to convince the teen to give up taking the exam.

Ozpin had known about the law that would allow someone so young to take the exam but in the eighty years since the huntsmen academies were establish only a very small handful of people had tried it so young and never before in Vale. The youngest person to ever pass the exam was nineteen, Maria Calavera, The Grimm Reaper. She had been a once in an era prodigy and a silver eyed warrior.

Killua Zoldyck on the other hand was no Maria Calavera. He'd done a bit of research on the boy and was incredibly underwhelmed by what he learned. Seventeen years old, no living relatives. Born and raised in Kuroyuri, Mistral where he worked as an errand boy to the town guard. When the settlement was overrun by the grimm he managed to escape with two young children who he took to Mistral city. He took the two in and began caring and providing for them, working as a server in a now closed dive bar. The only anomaly in the otherwise extremely mundane if not tragic story that was the boys life was that he had moved to the Island of Patch less than two weeks ago and bought a home in a single lump payment of two and a half million lien. How the young man had come into possession of such a fortune Ozpin didn't know. Regardless Ozpin supposed he should look into getting into contact with child services to take custody of the two children he'd been caring for should he fail to survive.

A ringing from his shirt pocket brought him out of his thoughts, checking the caller he the scroll. "Glynda." He answered.

"Professor, Killua Zoldyck has been brought back to the academy." Ozpin had known the woman for many years and had never heard the woman speak with such uncertainty, it painted a bleak picture of what was waiting for him. He was surprised to hear about the boy so soon but perhaps he called for evac shortly after being dropped off, however judging by his second in commands tone he suspected they arrived a bit to late. "We are currently in the infirmary."

"I'm on my way Glynda." He said with resignation in his voice.

"Please hurry, you need to see this."

Hanging up Ozpin stood from his desk and walked to the elevator grabbing his cane along the way. Entering the lift he sighed as it began lowering, he leaned on the cane as he was certainly feeling his age at that moment. After a minute he exited the elevator and began making his way to the infirmary, as he walked he looked at the many young men and women walking around his campus. Each dedicating their lives to be protectors of humanity and yet so very few had truly considered just how much of a risk they were taking each and every time they stepped into the field.

The walk to his destination hadn't taken more than five minutes but had felt like hours as he approached the ER wing of the infirmary, he was quickly met by Glynda. "Professor, you need to see this right now." She said with a note of urgency in her voice.

Ozpin nodded. "Indeed, please lead the way." He said as he began following behind the woman through the ER until they came to a small section blocked by a curtain.

Pushing the curtain aside the centuries old man froze in place as he attempted to process the sight before him, he wasn't staring at the mangled form of a teenage boy. No, before him were four veteran huntsmen and huntresses receiving treatment for a variety of injuries and standing against the wall was a completely untouched looking Killua Zoldyck.

The boy push off the wall and walked over to his as he simply stared, the boy then reached into his pocket and withdrew four medallions. "So what now old man, second phase?"

And that's another chapter down, I have no idea what the actual Huntsmen Exam is like in RWBY so I decided to go with a heavily watered down version of what I think a Hunters exam would be in HxH. Also to address a concern I read in the comments. NO Killua and Nora will never be paired together, Killua cares about Nora and Ren like they were his little siblings and they care about him as their older brother. Any love they feel for each other is purely familial. Leave me a review and tell me what you all think. LATER.
