"Why, Mark? Why regret ending Mime's life mercifully?" Hope said.
"He was… the first human life I ever took. I killed a Demon King before, but… Mime was the first human blood I spilled. I can still see blood on my hands sometimes. I… I wanted to save people, not kill them… I'm worthless."
"But Mime said it himself that day. He didn't have a shred of his humanity left. All that was left was an empty shell, filled with darkness… he wanted to be killed because he wanted it to end." Hope said.
"He was human once. What if we had more time? Would we have found a way to make him human again? What if we defeated Destroyer before Mime died? I… I wish I knew."
The group found themselves back at the central void, only four doors remaining.
"So, Mark's been living with the regret that he couldn't save Mime." Hope said. "He wanted to find another way to help him. I didn't know…"
"It's just like Mark to want to help everyone." Double D said. "It's his nature. I can only guess that having to kill Mime… it must have broken his heart."
"But there was no guarantee that Mime would actually change or go back to his old ways. Least they way he went out, showed there was some actual humanity inside him. All I saw was just another version of Harlequin." Hope said.
