The Magic of Airanft: Air

Air is perhaps the most important part of our world. Without it, nothing could live. So it is strange, then, that the Air Magics are as destructive as they are. Master Aerocane is the Master of these Magics… By his decree, they have been banned from use outside of the Airanft Guild.

Overview

All Air Magicians operate under the Airanft Guild, unless one has obtained special permission from Master Aerocane. This is a measure taken to ensure that Air Magic is not used for destructive purposes. As such, Air Magicians are typically employed for defensive purposes. Those that are not typically end up as wandering mercenaries.

Forms

There are five forms of Air Magic. Each form is difficult to master in its own right; mastering all five is a very impressive task. Air Magicians typically seek to master one form, with a dabble in the other four. According to these forms, we may also sub-categorize the Air Magicians.

Wall Of Wind

The Wall Of Wind form is typically used as a barrier between a target and the outside world. The user manipulates the air itself to swirl in a particular spot. A skilled user is able to use Wall Of Wind to blow Pokemon and attacks away from a location. It was often used to defend castles and fortresses from invaders. Many stories hold the Wall Of Wind form as the Magic that stopped the Great Voided Army in eons past. The Great Wall of Never-Ending Wind is believed to be the original Wall Of Wind used to repel the army. It currently sits just outside Crysum Village on the Crystal Continent.

In recent usage, Wall Of Wind sees use by many bodyguards. It is ideal for preventing assassination attempts. Users of the Wall Of Wind are often called Protectors. They are held in high regard in today's society.

Vacuum

The Vacuum form can dispel air from any desired point in an instant. Anything in the desired area is subject to asphyxiation. It is oft said that Vacuum was used in conjunction with small Walls Of Wind to fight off soldiers of the Voided Army. This method of repelling the Void proved ineffective, as the Voided Soldiers did not require air to breathe.

Vacuum is the least used form of Air Magic today. It is usually reserved for securing treasuries and bank vaults, as it becomes difficult for trespassers to survive in such a vacuum. Users of the Vacuum form are called Vacuumers. They are not widespread, but they play some integral roles in preventing crimes.

Tornado

The Tornado form manipulates the temperature around the air and the winds in order to form a large Tornado. This Tornado is then under the control of the user who created it. Destroying anything in its path, Tornado is the most dangerous of the Air Magics. Tornado was used in the Repellation of the Voided Army to great effect. It tore through the ranks of the Voided Soldiers, scattering them beyond the heights of the Sky Tower.

It now sees use mostly as a large scale demolition tool. The capabilities of Tornado are great for removing large buildings. As such, Tornado users are called Demolitionists. Demolitionists are the most tenacious of Magicians, and also some of the most dangerous.

Cutter

The Cutter form is perhaps the most underwhelming of all Continental Magics. It creates a blade of air to slice down anything in its path. In the hands of a capable wielder, a dangerous weapon. In the Repellation of the Voided Army, the Cutters were the final line of defense. Fortress Cyast held the line in part because of the timely arrival of an ancient Air Master.

Cutter sees little use in our world. Due to its simple nature, Aerocane and the Airanft Guild have relegated Cutter to small-scale renovations. Cutter users are called Cutters. They are some of the humblest Air Magicians.

Mobilaero

Mobilaero is the form of Air Magic which transports Pokemon and supplies. The user may travel vast distances in a relatively short amount of time. During the Repellation, the Mobilaero form was used to move soldiers to and from the front lines. Attempts were made to use it to rescue the wounded. All of them failed, as the Voided Soldiers consumed the bodies of any who could not retreat prior to the arrival of the Demolitionists.

Today, Mobilaero is widespread. It is the main form of transportation between civilizations. Users of the Mobilaero form will assist you, no matter your location. These Air Magicians are called Mobilailerons.

Learning Air Magic

The Airanft Guild manages several training locales across the world. Simply apply for apprenticeship at any one of these locales, and you will be accepted into the training program. If, however, you should feel the desire to learn from Master Aerocane himself, then make your way to Airanft.

The learning process of Air Magic varies. It is dependent upon which form a Magician chooses to master, and which they wish to have a secondary expert understanding. The other 3 forms are taught to Apprentice level understanding. Thus, in moments of necessity, every Air Magician may call upon any form.

Although Master Aerocane appears gruff and unwelcoming, he is a kind and patient Pokemon. He is well respected within the magical community for his efforts in mitigating and eliminating the misuse of Air Magic. Despite this, he does not consider himself above his own regulations, something that many other lawmakers unfortunately cannot attest to.
