Dirhhennia Butterfly was furious. Her little sister was going to be queen. Her little sister. The oldest is supposed to be queen, she thought. She thought it was unfair. But her mother said so. Dirhhennia took off her boot and flung it at the wall, making a loud noise and leaving a black scuff mark on the wall. Dirhhennia screamed, she threw fits, she yelled at her Mother and sister, anything to take what was hers. Her Mother, Estrella the Drafted, didn't budge.

Dirhhennia was 19 and Crescenta was 18, so either of them could legally be queen. Dirhhennia went into the hallway and kicked open her sister's door, to talk her out of it.

"Stop kicking my door open like that. It leaves a mark."

"So what?"

"I don't want a mark on my door."

"Are you really gonna do it?" Crescenta was looking through her closet.

"Do what?" She knew good and well what her older sister was talking about.

"Don't play dumb with me."

"Fine. I am going to do it, you're not fit to rule."

"Yes I am."

"Well, what have you contributed to Mewni or the spellbook? Pictures of balls."

"So what? What have you contributed?"

"Well, I started the future leaders of Mewni club, I'm part of the junior royal guard and volunteer at homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and food pantries. Not to mention 2,007 spells and counting."

"Well-I've-umm…"

"And one of my spells is this. Levitato!" Crescenta pointed the wand at her sister and Dirhhennia flew into the ceiling and out of her sister's room.

"I hate you!" She screamed.

"RIght back at ya!"

Crescenta was afraid of many things. Bugs, rodents, the dark, not being a good princess. She was afraid of many things. She wanted to be the best queen in Mewni history. One day she wrote in the spellbook. She wrote in a language that nobody really spoke anymore.

She wrote:

You have no idea of the marvelous things I will accomplish

I am greater than my sister Dir and everything

I will be the greatest queen this world has ever known

And Crescenta Butterfly didn't joke around.

Dirhhennia moved out of the castle a week later, and barged in with a suitcase in the middle of her Mother teaching her sister how to be queen.

"I'm moving out." Dirhhennia said.

"Good riddance." Crescenta said.

"Where are you moving to?" Their mother asked.

"The forest of certain death. I'm going there with Chad. See you guys never."

"Goodbye Dirhhennia. Good luck." Their Mother went back to Crescenta's lesson.

The eldest Princess flounced out of the castle and out to the forest of certain death, where she and Chad built a little log cabin.

As for Crescenta, she quickly learned being Queen was more than bossing around the commission and wearing poofy dresses. As soon as her sister left, her Mother resumed the first lesson. She got a stack of heavy books.

"Stand up." Her daughter obeyed, and the queen carefully put the stack of books on her head.

"What's this for?"

"You need to have good posture."

"I don't even know what that word means."

"Maybe you ought to memorize the dictionary next."

"Are those the kind of lessons you're teaching me?" Crescenta paced across the small room.

"A good Queen's vocabulary is extensive."

"I don't know what that means either."

"You're definitely memorizing the dictionary next."

"Is there a dictionary on my head?"

"Yes, along with a thesaurus."

"DO I have to memorize that too?" Crescenta wasn't liking the whole being queen business anymore.

"No you don't, but there is some heavy reading involved." The Queen said, and Crescenta groaned. While she groaned, she put her head up, causing all the books to fall on the floor.

The queen simply picked them up and placed them on her daughter's head.

"Try again."

Crescenta was being coronated, and Crescenta was happy to hear that her sister wasn't coming. She probably wouldn't wreck it, but it would drive Crescenta crazy. Crescenta was wearing a purple and pink dress, identical to the one she was wearing in her tapestry although the skirt went all the way down to the floor. Her tiara had little golden wings to the side and a pink gem in the middle. Crescenta was standing behind the curtain, holding a guitar in her arms.

She was ready to be queen. She had gone through 2 years of through lessons, she could walk a mile with a dictionary on her head in high heels and a ball gown, but her Mother only taught her vocabulary and etiquette. Crescenta had no idea how she was expected to make all the big decisions in the future. But she stepped out onto the stage, curtseyed, and started to play a song on the guitar.

"Heart beats fast

Colors and promises

How to be brave?

How can I love when I'm afraid to fall?

But watching you stand alone

All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow

One step closer

I have died every day waiting for you

Darling, don't be afraid

I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more

Time stands still

Beauty in all she is

I will be brave

I will not let anything take away

What's standing in front of me

Every breath

Every hour has come to this

One step closer

I have died every day waiting for you

Darling, don't be afraid

I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you

Time has brought your heart to me

I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more

One step closer

One step closer

I have died every day waiting for you

Darling don't be afraid

I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you

Time has brought your heart to me

I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more."

And right then is where everything snapped. Every piece of the puzzle was in place.
