So, after what feels like a while to me, I've finally managed to finish this chapter yay so I hope you all enjoy. I think my problem was that I was trying to focus on just this fic which caused me a block of sorts and that's part of the reason I'm having this story share my focus with my A conduit hero one to help me to prevent burnout.
The sounds of screams and the roars of Grimm was broken up by the sound of a body slamming into concrete, leaving deep cracks in it as the heavy collision created a shockwave. Drawing the attention of the terrified villagers that were lucky enough to be still alive, the focus of the Grimm was then drawn when an arm lifted up pulling a broken sword from its sheath. Which then unleashed a torrent of flames while Rin climbed to his feet a hot heavy atmosphere of rage acting as a beacon to draw in the Grimm.
Rin was quickly surrounded by a pack of Beowolves that snarled and glared at him with hate filled eyes that he quickly returned while his body transformed once again with his heart free once. These people aren't worth our time let's just burn this place to the ground. Ignoring his inner demon Rin surged forward "Satan slash!" he shouted cutting through the closest Beowulf shooting out flames at the rest of them in a line bisecting them before they were soon turned to ash.
Rin then ran around slashing and burning through every Grimm he could find until he stopped seeing a person. He had a bow and was running somewhere but Grimm were following him "Satan bomb!" He shouted getting the man's attention slamming his sword to the ground to make his flames spread and burn through the nearby Grimm.
The man then slowed down heading over to Rin as he bowed slightly "thank you for helping me," he says grateful then paused "I don't recognise you, are you a huntsman?" the man asked while Rin got a good look of him seeing his black hair peppered with strands of white that matched his goatee. He had only stopped for a moment before seeming to remember something important as he started running again.
"where is everyone?" Rin asked the man running as he easily caught up with him slashing and burning any Grimm that he saw.
"I don't know but the beast that's attacking us is something that we need a huntsman can stop so I'm going to evacuate my family." The man tells Rin making him pause before the man rushed into a house.
"hey wait I can help." Rin calls out to the man after a beat following after him as he walked into the room to see him with a women and child. The mother was currently comforting the son while the dad turns to Rin.
"I'm going to make sure my family gets out of here safely then I'll help to take down the Grimm," he told Rin "if you don't mind helping me, I would deeply appreciate it." the man told Rin before they heard the sounds of a monster's call.
"what the hell was that?" Rin asked as they looked up his guard raised, hands gripping the handle of his sword tighter and that was when the ceiling collapsed causing the room to fill with screams as debris falling towards the mother and son. "No!" Rin shouted seeing the tragedy that was about to befall them, in that moment he thought of the child. He knew what it was like to lose a parent because they were protecting you.
The ceiling continued to fall much to the horror of the people in the room sure that nothing would be able to save them and that was when a wave of blue flames exploded from Rin's body filling the house with warmth before it was burned down to the ground in an instance. The family of three looked around in a flurry of shock and relief looking around to see that the danger was mostly gone except for the Grimm still around as Rin panted in exertion.
"How did you do that?" the child asked him after a moment looking to Rin in wonder making hum look away the two parents looked to him in gratitude.
"it's my err," Rin starts to say trying to think of what the others had called it "it's my Sun dance." he lies quickly it's a Semblance you idiot his inner half tells him making him sweat drop.
"well, whatever it was we'll always be grateful." the man told him looking to Rin gratefully making him look away flustered.
"I just did what's right." Rin tells them before pausing as he heard a sound similar to a horse galloping making him turn to the source with the others quickly copying him as they saw the creature making Rin pull a repulsed face as he saw the Grimm.
"we need a huntsman to deal with that thing." the father told him making Rin tighten his grip on his weapons hilt raising it in front of him as he widens his stance letting his flames grow from the broken blade once again to form a complete sword.
"I've got this monster you three save as many people as you can and get out of here." Rin orders them looking as he looked to the creature getting ready to attack them.
The man then goes to argue before the Grimm shoots its arms at him catching him by surprise as he sees its limbs lengthen massively and before he could block, he was struck in the chest and face knocking him backwards. "are you sure you got this?" the man asked Rin as he saw him take the hit and so Rin nodded a grin on his face as he shrugged off the blow.
"I got this just go." Rin told ordered him before the Grimm surged forward again trying to capitalise on any weakness Rin may have developed from the hit making him grin the monsters in this world are so weak. his inner demon said making Rin hum unable to disagree yet, as he grabbed one of the Grimm's elongated arms after it tried to strike him again.
Unaffected by the monsters attack this time Rin held it tightly much to the creature's surprise as it tried to break his grip unsuccessfully "get your family and anyone else you can out of here now!" Rin told them yanking the Grimm towards him as he heard the sounds of gunshots, in the corner of his eye he watched the family run off with other villagers and so he swore to save as many people as he could.
You're wasting your time we should just burn everything with our flames! his inner voice told him making him growl "will you shut up!" Rin shouted as he stabbed into the Grimm burning it to embers before he fell to the ground his control of his emotions getting weaker by the second.
Our job is to stop people from being killed by Grimm, if we raze this town to the ground no one will be killed by Grimm. his inner self told him making Rin cower to the floor covering his ears finding it more and more difficult to argue with his demon side, his last shred of control then snapped when he heard the sound of gravel crunching underneath feet near him "hurry up and burn!" Rin snarled shooting a bullet of flames as he turned to the source of noise before paling when he recognised the blonde man who approached him.
"hey calm down kiddo it's just me," Tai said after he managed to dodge the attack feeling his heart race seeing how intimidating Rin could be "you've done a great job here we got it covered if you need to stop." Tai told him quickly getting over his surprise and in a show of trust to Rin offered his hand to help him up.
"I could have killed you I'm so sorry." Rin apologised to him voice choky as he quickly grabbed his sword and its sheath sealing his demon heart back away causing his vision to swim before his eyes rolled back and then all he saw next was darkness.
