Elena was working through a morning yoga practice, trying to ground herself after the disturbance of the vision. Sam and Dean were due to arrive later that day, and she was sure the vision would be a hot topic. As she stretched into side angle, she focused on what was happening between her and Cas. It was confusing to feel like an outsider in her own mind and in their relationship, whatever it was. The kissing the night before felt incredible, and she desperately wanted to do it again. Elena knew from the conversation she'd overheard that Bobby wouldn't approve of it. She wasn't looking forward to hiding anything from him. Elena couldn't help the fact she was glowing around Cas, and that already made Bobby suspicious. She wasn't sure how to control it, but according to Cas's scans of her and Ava, it wasn't harmful. She finished her practice and turned to face him as he patiently kept guard.

"I think the coast is clear," she said.

Cas tilted his head.

"Atlantic or Pacific?"

"What?"

"Perhaps you didn't mean continental coasts. Did you mean—"

Elena's laughter stopped him from continuing, and she shook her head.

"I meant that I don't think Bobby's anywhere near here right now."

She watched a smile spread across his face as his gaze on her intensified. He stepped toward her and she put her arms around his neck, tilting her head up so that her mouth could meet his. She felt warmth spreading through her body and knew she was glowing again, but they were hidden from sight, so she wasn't concerned.

"I wish we could do this all day," she whispered as she pulled away finally.

"Technically I could, but I think you would eventually tire," he replied.

"I don't think I could ever get tired of this."

Cas understood what she meant without her having to explain it, something she noticed he was getting better at. He lowered his head and smiled shyly, and Elena felt a rush of emotion. Spending nearly every second of the day with him had turned out much better than she originally expected. She was enjoying getting to know him and his idiosyncrasies.

"We should head back, or else Bobby will start to worry. I think we got carried away with the time," she said.

"Your practice averages 32 minutes, the walk out and back approximately seven minutes total. Most days we are gone 39 minutes."

"And today?"

"56 minutes."

"Balls!"

Elena was furiously trying to think of a believable lie she could tell when Bobby asked as they approached the house. Before she could think of something, a familiar voice called out to her and Cas.

"Hey, Sammy, look who finally decided to show up!" Dean said.

Elena grinned at him and Sam standing outside the Impala. Without a word, she ran to Sam and jumped into his arms, hugging him tightly with her arms and wrapping her legs around him.

"You're back early!"

She felt Sam laugh and he hugged her back, helping to support her as he spun her around a few times. She joined him laughing, delighted by his reaction.

"Yeah, we were able to leave earlier than expected. I would ask how you're doing, but I think I know the answer," he remarked.

"Yeah, we can all see," Dean said in a strange tone.

Elena hopped down and looked at him, confused. He gestured up and down, and Elena realized she was glowing.

"Oh! I didn't even notice. I'm really happy to see you both!"

Dean stared at her a few seconds before nodding and smiling.

"Yeah, it's good to be back. Hey, Cas," Dean greeted.

Cas smiled at them both.

"Hello, Dean, Sam."

"What happened to your hands?" Sam asked, noticing the bandages on them.

"Oh, um…it's kind of a long story."

"And were you limping?" Sam continued, and Elena looked down.

"We can talk about it later."

"Hey, when we pulled in, we thought we saw like…a purple flash or something in the distance. Was that you?" Dean asked.

"What? How big?"

"I don't know, maybe like thirty feet tall, about as wide?"

Dean glanced at Sam for confirmation, and Sam nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, probably. It was from the direction you guys came from. You didn't see it?"

Elena and Cas looked at each other.

"No," she said nervously.

Dean narrowed his eyes at her tone.

"What were you doing out there?"

"Yoga," she answered quickly.

Dean gave her a look like he didn't believe her, and Sam was frowning as well.

"You ever glow when doing yoga before?"

"Uh, I don't know. Cas?"

Cas shook his head.

"Maybe it's something to do with the baby, I don't know," Elena said hurriedly.

They headed inside where Bobby was getting some coffee in the kitchen.

"Did she tell you about what's goin' on?" Bobby asked.

"That massive glow field? She claims she was doing yoga," Dean said, giving Elena another disbelieving look.

"What? No, I mean…" Bobby paused, looking between Elena and Cas with suspicion. "You were gone a long time for yoga."

Oh, balls! I forgot to come up with an excuse.

"I can attest to the fact that Elena did yoga today as she always does," Cas interjected suddenly.

"Oh, yeah? Business as usual?"

"Elena did her usual practice, if that is what you mean."

Cas just happened to leave out the kissing they did afterward. Bobby frowned, still looking at them with suspicion.

"Hm. I was talkin' about the visions," Bobby said to Sam and Dean.

"You're having visions?" Sam asked incredulously.

"No. I mean, I was having something…but Cas broke my toes and put a nail through my thumbs so I'm not anymore. We had to stop them; they were affecting Ava."

Dean and Sam stared at her.

"Cas did what now?" Dean finally said, his tone filled with anger.

Elena looked over at him in surprise and saw him working his jaw like he was trying to restrain himself.

"I'm explaining it wrong," she said quickly. "I told him to do it."

"Who's Ava?"

Cas stood up straighter and Elena saw his wings spread wide. She knew no one else could see but she loved how proud he was about their child.

"Ava Eowyn is our daughter."

"So, let me get this straight," Sam said. "You were having visions that were affecting the baby?"

Elena filled them in on everything that happened, including the woman in her vision declaring she would take Ava.

"You find out anything about this lady?" Dean asked Bobby, who looked frustrated.

"No, neither of these two idjits told me about what happened. He just brought her in to have me look at the baby on the ultrasound. Then there was all that talk about stoppin' the visions and they told me Ava's name and distracted me."

Dean failed to hold back a smile at anyone pulling one over on Bobby.

"Happens to the best of us, Bobby. Well, we're all caught up now and it's not like it's been weeks. Did the lady in your vision say anything we could use to try and track her down?"

"She said her name was forgotten and argued over. She took credit for saving the Grigori and Nephilim from being destroyed. Oh, there was something about her bloodline being tainted?"

Sam looked at her worriedly, and she saw him look over to Bobby as well.

"It's not ringin' any bells for me, either," Bobby said.

"Okay, so where do we start?" Dean asked.

"Well, if what this lady is claiming is true, there were only a small number of people on the Ark," Sam said hesitantly.

"Isn't that a good thing, then?" Elena asked, not understanding his reluctance.

"There were only four women on the Ark, the wives of Noah and his three sons. Whoever it is must have some powerful magic to stay alive this long and do what she did. If the Grigori and Nephilim are alive and helping her too, it sounds like it's going to be one hell of a showdown."

"Don't forget the demons," Dean said, glancing at Cas. "They're the ones who tried to grab Elena and who did a number on Cas, even if they were playing around with angel swords. Who knows how many others might be involved."

Cas looked uncomfortable. Elena was trying to figure out if it was from the mention of his being attacked, but something about the reaction seemed off. She noticed his uneasiness came after Dean spoke about demons.

"Sam, why don't we try to redo this ultrasound?" Bobby offered. "Research can wait a little bit. I think we need somethin' nice for a change."

With Sam's assistance, they were able to get decent imaging of Ava. Sam was comparing everything to a medical textbook he'd gotten.

"So far, everything looks good," Sam said. "She's moving around a lot."

"Is that bad? I thought it was good," Elena said, slightly panicked.

"No, that's great. All good stuff," he replied, giving her a warm smile.

"Hey, you printing any of those pictures? You know, the ones where the kid looks like a half-baked lasagna or a UFO or whatever?"

Sam made a face at Dean's question.

"Sonogram pictures? I can, but why?"

Dean looked embarrassed for a moment, immediately trying to over-correct into a projection of irritated confidence.

"I'm just trying to be informed, Sammy. It's the 20th century, after all, not the Middle Ages."

"Dean, it's the 21st century…"

Elena smiled as their arguing continued. When she looked at Cas, she saw him gazing at her with a goofy smile. She couldn't help but return it, and as she felt warmth rushing through her she knew she had started to glow. Dean noticed and immediately looked at Sam, who was busy looking at the ultrasound machine. Elena wasn't sure what he was doing, because from her view it looked like he kept clicking between the same two images over and over.

"Is something wrong?" she asked, suddenly worried.

"What? No, not at all," Sam assured her.

He clicked something different on the machine and printed off some images as Elena wiped herself off with a towel. Cas helped Elena off the table in the garage, both quick to step apart once she was back on the ground. Sam went to hand the pictures to Elena, but Dean snatched them before he could.

"I'm just going to take one," he told them. "Put it in the Impala. Baby in Baby, get it?" he laughed at his joke.

Everyone stared at him as he cut the picture he wanted, and Sam finally shrugged.

"Whatever, man. Jeez. And you call me emotionally stunted," Dean muttered as he walked away after handing the rest of the pictures back to Elena.

Bobby left to work on getting a name for the mystery woman from Elena's visions, and Elena put the sonogram pictures on the fridge before heading back to find Sam. Cas was trailing behind her as usual, but she stopped him when she saw Sam was still in the garage.

"Hey, I appreciate the protection detail and all, but I was hoping to talk with Sam in private a little," she said.

Cas frowned, clearly uncomfortable with the thought.

"I'm just worried about what could happen if I'm not there to protect you," he told her.

"I know, but so far nothing's happened other than the vision stuff, and that's only happened when I've been napping. Hopefully with this," she said, wiggling her thumbs, "that won't happen anymore, either. Plus, Sam is a pretty good fighter, if something happens. I'm sure he could protect me."

"If anything happens, you can pray to me and I'll hear you."

Elena raised an eyebrow.

"Really? But you wouldn't be able to find me, right? Because of the marks you put on me?"

"I can always find you. Our connection, even now, is stronger than the sigils."

"Oh. I didn't know that."

He always knows where I am? I guess that's a good thing, if I needed help. Why does it make me uncomfortable? Why am I worried about him knowing where I am and being able to find me? It's not like he's doing bad things.

Cas was staring at her silently, and she offered him a smile. He continued staring for a few more seconds before offering a very small smile in return.

"I'll see you in a while," she said, and he stayed in the house as she went into the garage.

"Sam? Are you busy right now?"

Sam looked up from the medical textbook he was reviewing.

"No, I'm just reading a little more about the whole process," he explained. "What's up?"

"Can we go for a walk?"

Sam smiled and closed the book.

"Sure thing."

They wandered along for a little bit without speaking. Sam kept glancing at her as Elena debated how to bring up the topic she wanted to discuss.

"I wanted to talk to you, but I'm sort of struggling with how to say this," she finally admitted.

"Okay. Well, you can talk to me about anything, if you want. Whenever you're ready to. If there's something I can do to help make you more comfortable, just say so."

Elena flashed him a wide smile.

"Thanks, Sam. I really appreciate it. You're always so considerate, it's really wonderful."

Sam smiled back as they continued walking.

"I have some questions about what I was like before, if you're willing to talk to me about it."

"Of course, why wouldn't I be? Ask away."

Elena bit her lip, trying to think of the best way to phrase the first question.

"Do you know how soon after I became a human that I got involved with Cas?"

Sam looked at her in surprise and confusion.

"Uh, yeah. It was pretty quickly. There was some intense energy between the two of you right away," he told her, looking away as he spoke.

"Like, a few weeks?"

"Like the next day. He showed up in the car after breakfast and kissed you, and said you guys had kissed the night before. Or implied it. Something like that."

"Do you know how long it was before…like, was it a few more weeks or a couple months before we…you know…"

Sam pulled his focus back to her, confused by what she was asking. Elena made an awkward face, and Sam suddenly understood. He looked away again.

"Oh, that. It was the day after you arrived."

Elena stopped short, shocked by that information. It took Sam a few paces to realize she wasn't next to him anymore and walk back to where she was rooted.

"Are you okay?" he asked her, concern and worry clear on his face.

"I did that with him like…right away?"

Sam shrugged and nodded.

"Why? I mean, how could I do that so quickly with someone?"

Sam shifted uncomfortably, his expression unreadable to Elena.

"I don't know, you just did. I think a lot of things were happening to you, a lot of scary and bad things. Cas protected you from some of it. He saved you when you first came over."

"So I had sex with him because he helped me?"

"I—I don't really know, Elena. I mean, you never explained to me why, so I can't really tell you. You've said that humans feel a lot more emotions than unicorns, you had to learn to regulate them instead of just leading with each passing emotion. That was probably a factor. If I had to guess, I'd say there was probably some trauma stuff going on that played a big part, too."

Elena looked away; Sam wasn't making eye contact with her anyway. As she glanced at the trees, she thought she noticed a shimmery appearance to the air, but it was gone before she could look back at it. She shook her head, closed her eyes, and opened them again. Everything looked clear this time, and she sighed.

"Does that mean that the only reason I was with Cas is because he's the one who found me first?"

"I don't know, Elena, I mean, I'm sure there are a lot of reasons. If I had to guess, that's probably part of it, but I don't know for sure. Only you do. Or, did."

"So, if you and Dean had been there instead of Cas, like if you found me, you're saying that I would feel that way about you? That I would have done that with you?"

Sam looked at her quickly, narrowing his eyes.

"Why are you asking me this? I'm willing to talk about you from before, but I don't understand why you're asking these questions. What's going on?"

Elena looked at her feet, scuffing the dirt around with her shoe.

"I'm just trying to understand why I trusted him so quickly when I didn't know him at all, and why it doesn't feel the same now."

Sam was silent as he watched her, and Elena sighed.

"I'm trying to figure out how I'll know if I'm ready to…do that…with him again."

Sam's expression changed to concern again.

"He's not pressuring you or anything, right? Elena, you need to tell me if he's said or done anything," Sam told her seriously, his expression dark.

"No! No, it's nothing like that. It's…well, we kissed. And it was really nice. And then we kissed again, after I did yoga today, and it was really, really nice. I know I was glowing during it, but I didn't realize I was glowing so…large. I don't really feel comfortable just going all the way past that point, or maybe even past it at all."

Sam swallowed and looked away again, squinting. Elena was confused by his squinting because the sun wasn't penetrating the trees enough to make it too bright. She looked away too, catching another glimpse of shimmery air for a moment before it disappeared again.

"I didn't realize you guys were involved again," Sam said, his voice strained.

Elena thought about Bobby not wanting her to be involved with Cas at this point, either. She realized he had probably had a similar conversation about it with Sam and Dean. They were probably all in agreement about it, and now she was telling Sam all about what was going on, putting him in an awkward position. She felt certain he wouldn't violate her confidence, but she felt bad to give him another secret. At the same time, she had no one else she could talk to about it.

"I'm also worried, because he did talk about the explosion thing and I don't want to hurt anyone. Bobby's couch catching on fire was bad enough."

"His couch caught on fire?"

"Yeah, when we kissed the first time. He said that had never happened before, so I'm kind of worried if things are more intense already, what kind of destruction could be caused if we…anyway, don't move that blanket on the back of the couch. Bobby doesn't know yet."

"Elena, I…"

She waited for him to finish, wondering what he was going to say. He still wouldn't look at her for some reason.

"Just be careful, please. Especially if things like that are happening. We don't know what kind of risk it could be to Ava."

She felt a chill run through her. That wasn't even something she'd considered. Everything had looked fine earlier during the ultrasound, but it might not have been. She didn't understand anything that was happening with her body in relation to these abilities, and even though she had some knowledge from Sam about what she was capable of, she had no idea how it worked. Even if she had an idea before, it seemed things were different now than before, like kissing making things catch fire. Cas didn't even know why it had happened.

"You're right, Sam. I need to be more careful. Thanks for talking with me, I know it put you in an awkward position, but I really appreciate it," she told him, giving him a hug.

Sam stood there for a few seconds before lifting his arms and hugging her back.

"Just because you were together before doesn't mean you have to be now. It's okay if you don't feel that way, or if you feel like it's not enough. I'll support whatever you decide," he told her.

"Thanks, Sammy," she whispered, and he tightened his arms a little.
