I am planning for this story to go until chapter 7. A sequel is currently being planned, but I might not write one unless I know that you (The reader), would want that. So, if you want me to continue the story, let me know via PM or review.
"So," Lucina stated. "How did you get here?"
The lime-haired girl nodded slowly. "I was fighting Rhea then a strange portal appeared. I was close to death, so I chose to enter it. I then woke up here."
Robin nodded. "I can verify this. I was casting a portal spell, then she fell through."
Byleth looked around. "I need to get back to my realm, before the rest of my friends are killed."
"That would be a wise choice." Lucina remarked. "Robin. Can you make another portal?"
"I don't think so. The book I was using to make the portal evaporated when I activated it." Robin explained.
Lucina facepalmed. Then her head snapped up. "I think Robin still had some of that essence on him. It's most likely in the castle beyond the forest."
Byleth stood up. "I am very skilled in stealth missions. Let me go and receive this so-called 'essence'. I will return and the girl with the white hair can send me back."
Robin growled. "The name is Robin, not 'the girl with the white hair'."
Byleth bowed. "My apologies."
Lucina sat down on a stool, tired from standing. "Do what you have to. I need rest." She got up and started to walk toward the door, "Robin. Wake me up in the morning."
After Lucina left, Byleth looked at Robin quizzically. "What's up with her?"
Robin frowned. "Pregnancy."
Byleth nodded, as if that was a complete answer. "So, when will we leave for the castle?"
"We?" Robin asked. "You're the only one going."
"Nope. In order to avoid detection, you should send me back as soon as you gather the essence. One person will be easier to sneak out than two."
"I guess you're right." Robin admitted. "I just have to figure out how to use that essence…" Robin then slammed her fist into her open hand. "I got it!"
Robin ran off, and Byleth followed close behind.
"Where is the castle?" Byleth asked as they both broke into a jog.
"Just outside of the forest. Follow me and we'll be there before midnight!"
Byleth nodded and took off, staying a few feet behind Robin.
"Huber, Edelgard," Byleth mumbled. "Please, stay alive!"
Lucina woke up, a small ray of moonlight cutting into her house. She lit a small lantern and looked around her small house. There was, of course, her bed. Then, in an opposite corner, there was a bunk-bed style desk that would use the top for sleeping and the bottom for work.
Her stomach was really queasy, and her entire body felt unease.
"Maybe I'm just sick again." She remarked. "I might as well go outside for a bit."
She walked outside, not even taking time to change out of her night clothes. She leaned over a barrel of water and looked at her reflection, trying to focus on something besides her stomach. She had darker circles under her eyes, and her hair was almost glowing in the moonlight. Her eyes were still the same, and the crest in one of them was almost glowing. The crest only glowed slightly in the moonlight, and even though it was only eleven at night.
Lucina hung the lantern up by the door and sat down on the deck, taking in slow and deep breaths of air.
"I wonder what Chrom will think once I get back," She wondered, "I talked to him before about having a child, and he seemed to react well to it."
"Indeed he did." A voice stated. A hand clamped around Lucina's mouth and dragged her away. "If you say one word, you'll have a knife in your throat."
Lucina nodded and looked her abductor straight in the eyes. It was the same person who killed her husband, the mirror version of Lucina.
"Follow me." Lucina obliged, her hands tied to a rope that her abductor was holding.
After they were deep in the forest, the original Lucina spoke. "Where are you taking me?"
The red-haired girl replied, "Back to my castle. I have….reasons why I want you there and not here."
Lucina frowned. "Why? What reasons do you have?"
"That village is going to be destroyed anyway. Now that you have an unborn-child, I don't want to kill you. Even after your child is born, I will still keep you alive."
"Why?" Lucina asked angrily.
"It's pretty simple." The crimson girl replied, "I want to send you back to your realm. Even though I will die once you leave, I still want you and your child to go."
"Why do you care so much for my child?" Lucina said, "I thought you were a merciless killer."
"I am." The queen replied, "Even though I have killed many, I find a soft spot for children. You and your child will live in comfort, and you will even have free reign of most of my castle."
"Why are you being so nice to me?"
"I don't hate you. I just want to relocate you." The queen turned back so she could look Lucina in the eyes, "I also know that your child has lots of potential."
…
Lucina stepped inside the large room she was given at the castle, taking note of the many windows that overlooked the nearby terrain.
"It's a nice view, isn't it?" A person said as they entered the room.
"Who are you?" Lucina asked, still facing the window.
"I'm Iris, the Queens sister."
Lucina turned back to look at the newcomer. She had dark, black hair and green eyes. She didn't look evil at all, unlike her sister. Iris continued talking. "I'm pretty much the medic of this castle, and I was assigned to aid you throughout your pregnancy, and, eventually the birth."
Lucina nodded her thanks. "By chance, have you seen any new people entering the castle?"
"No, I have not." Iris replied, "Why do you ask?"
"I just told them to stay in the village if I disappeared, and I wanted to make sure that they obeyed." Lucina lied.
Iris nodded. "Well, if you have any questions, feel free to let me know! Meals are at eight, twelve and five o'clock."
Lucina nodded. "Thanks for all your help. I think I just need some time to be alone right now."
Iris left, and Lucina immediately gazed out over the wasteland that encircled the castle. Then she noticed something. There were a few flashes of light, visible like small torches in the night.
As fast as she could, Lucina took a flint and steel from her pocket-her sword had been confiscated-and started to light sparks in morse code.
After a long time of dots and flashes Lucina thought over the messages she had been given, after she told them who she was and why she was here. Then, more flashes were signaled out. Lucina physically recoiled in shock when she read the message.
Villagers tried to kill Byleth and I. Please get the queen to help us. Wave a lantern in a circle pattern if we're let in.
Lucina replied. "Got it."
She ran down the stairs, pushing past servants and guards. Out of breath, she sprinted to the Queen's chambers.
"What are you doing here?" A monster asked.
"I...need to...see...the queen." She gasped breathlessly.
Robin and Byleth were standing on the edge of the forest.
"I hope Lucina knows morse code." Byleth stated.
Robin nodded. "She does. I taught her."
"I still don't get what was going on with those villagers." Byleth said, 'As soon as we entered the village, all of them got yellow eyes and had a dark mist around them. I even killed one, but they just got back up. I guess the mist lets them fight beyond human stamina."
Robin sighed. "I feel so bad for them. They were always so...happy."
Byleth shrugged. "That's how life works. Somebody tries to kill you, you kill them."
Robin shook her head, "They were the only family I had!"
"Well, Lucina and I are the only people you can trust." Byleth replied. "We just need to wait for the signal."
Robin leaned back on a rock and sighed. "Hopefully we get let in before the villagers decide to attack us...again."
…
Robin was woken up by Byleth shaking her shoulder. "Get up!" The lime-haired teacher urged, "Lucina is signaling us!"
Robin jumped to her feet, grabbing her wand and some food in the process. Together, the two warriors walked toward the castle. They purposely walked in the light, even going as far was having their hands up to show peace.
"Looks much more impressive up close." Byleth noted. "It's almost as big as Garreg Mach."
"Where?" Robin asked.
"Just...somewhere from my realm."
"Well," Robin stated. "Looks like we have a welcoming party."
Byleth looked and realised Robin was right. There was a group of monsters walking toward them who had no weapons.
"Hi!" One of them called in a surprisingly high-pitched voice. "We are here to welcome you all into the Queen's HQ."
Robin looked at Byleth and shrugged. "Seems okay." She mouthed.
Byleth nodded and they both were escorted to the main room of the fortress.
"Your friend, Lucina, is currently busy at the moment. In the meantime, I will show you all to your rooms." A black haired girl with emerald green eyes said.
"What is she doing?" Robin asked. "Lucina, I mean."
The servant smiled. "She is currently giving birth to her child. All of our best midwives are there to help."
"That wasn't supposed to happen for another three wells!" Robin exclaimed.
"Well, I guess she was ready before you all thought."
Byleth looked up the stairwell. "I see that a lot of time must have been put into this place."
The messenger nodded. "Yes. My younger sister and I arrived here just as it was finished."
"Who is your younger sister?"
"The very queen that rules this castle. My name is Iris, and hers is Lucina."
"Not our Lucina, right?"
"Nope. The mirror-version of her." Iris then turned down the stairs to look at them. "I apologize if you two ever get confused by all this. I get confused at times as well."
Robin looked out the window of the room she shared with Lucina and Byleth. Her companion was walking around the room, examining the different objects that decorated the place.
"Byleth." Robin stated. "So what is your realm like?"
Byleth gathered her thoughts and answered. "My students and I are currently fighting somebody named Rhea. The actual realm itself is split into three parts. There is the Leicester Alliance, The Adrestian Empire, and the kingdom of Faerghus. I am currently allied with the Adrestian empire, and their Empress is a great warrior."
Robin smiled. "Seems pretty chaotic. I just appeared here as a cause-and-effect event, so I don't really have a backstory."
Byleth nodded, "I was just the daughter of a mercenary. He was killed, and I have a goal to honor his legacy until I breath my final breath."
"Any love interests?" Robin teased.
"No." Byleth replied. She didn't seem to understand the concept of teasing.
Robin looked out the window and sighed. "I hope this entire thing with Lucina goes ok."
"I hope so as well." byleth then picked something up. "What's this?"
It was a book, identical to the one Robin used to get Byleth here in the first place.
"Give it!" Robin urged. "I can send you back!"
"Good. Don't tell me when you do it. Just go ahead."
Robin nodded and started to mumble some words, a portal slowly forming. As soon as the portal was big enough, Byleth jumped through. Robin, now alone in the room, looked out the window.
The door was then opened and Iris ran in. "Ma'am! Lucina is finished. She is very weak but she wanted me to tell you some things."
"Go ahead." Robin said, barely able to contain her excitement.
"It's a healthy baby girl, and her name is Sonia."
And that is the end of this chapter! If any of you want to see some concept art of Sonia, I have a short video on my youtube channel. (Under the channel name: Broken Mask07)
As I said at the start of this chapter, a sequel is being planned.
