McCoy gently laid Scotty down, resting his head on the pillow he had created. Scotty hissed in pain as McCoy touched his injured leg, "Sorry Scotty." "It's alright Leonard, I know you don't mean it." Scotty replied weakly. McCoy slowly unravelled the bandage, which was covering the wound, he hoped it wasn't what he thought it was since he wasn't really equipped to be dealing with that sort of thing, well he wasn't equipped to deal with anything. McCoy soon lifted the bandage up to reveal Scotty's stab wound, it was what he thought. Due to the open skin Scotty now had some sort of infection, how serious it was McCoy could only guess, which isn't what Doctors like to do. "Dam it!" McCoy yelled in his head, as he quickly wrapped the wound back up, not wanting Scotty to see it.

"It's bad isn't it?" Scotty suddenly said, McCoy opened his mouth to reply but Scotty spoke first. "Don't bother lying Leonard, like I said earlier I know you to well, so just tell me the truth. It's bad isn't it?" McCoy sighed, he couldn't find the words to speak. "Yeah, it's bad. But you're going to be fine Scotty, I promise you that." Scotty just smiled faintly, "Don't make promises ya can't keep Doc." McCoy turned and stared at the Scotsman's face while he placed a hand on his shoulder. "I always keep my promises Scotty, I'm going to get you back to the ship even if it kills me." Scotty smiled faintly at him as he watched McCoy stand up, "Just lay still Scotty, I'll be back in a moment. Try and rest." The Scotsman just nodded slowly as he watched the Doctor head out of the cave.

He didn't really wish to leave Scotty, but McCoy knew he needed to gather a few things which could help him deal with his friend. Knowing what he was looking for was going to make this much easier and quicker too. While he and Scotty had been walking through the jungle on their way to the cave, he had seen several plants which can help with fevers and some which would help with the infection in Scotty's wound. It didn't take McCoy long to find a patch of these plants and he quickly gathered as many as he could carry in his trouser pocket, before moving on to his next thing, which was water. This one was going to be a little harder to do, not because McCoy was going to have to find running water, he already knew where a stream was since once again he had seen it on his way to the cave.

The main problem was how he was going to get it back to the cave, it wasn't as if he had a bottle or something similar to put it in. McCoy had made his way to the stream, still unsure how he was going to collect the water. As McCoy knelt down next to the stream something caught his eye, next to him growing on a plant were huge, bowl shaped leaves. "That will do." He said with a smile as he leaned over to the plant, gently pulled off several of the leaves as to not put a hole in them, he rolled some up and placed them in his pocket before turning back to face the stream, with one leaf in hand. McCoy lowered his bowl into the water and it slowly began to fill, it actually worked! McCoy was completely amazed as he slowly lifted the leaf out of the stream, no water was escaping. "Sometimes I even surprise myself." McCoy chuckled as he stood up and began to walk back to the cave, being careful as to not drop the water.

It took McCoy a little longer to get back to the cave since he was being extremely careful, when he entered he saw Scotty was either resting his eyes or was asleep. Quietly McCoy knelt next to the sleeping Scotsman, placing the water next to him. Out the corner of his eye McCoy watched Scotty's eyes flutter open quickly, clearly he had heard McCoy come back. "It's just me Scotty, sorry if I scared you." "It's alright Leonard, where did you go?" Scotty asked as he forced a smile, "I went to fetch some water for you, along with some herbs to help with your fever and the infection in your leg." McCoy replied as he grabbed two rocks from beside him. On one rock he placed the bundle of herbs he had collected and with the other he mashed them into a paste, before transferring them into one of the leaves he had brought back with him. McCoy then added some water to the paste and mixed it together into a drink, he then gently picked up the leaf cup in one hand while he help Scotty sit up with the other.

"Here, drink this." Scotty nodded as he consumed the liquid, pulling a face when he finished. "Sorry, should have warned you it would have been bitter." McCoy apologised as he laid Scotty back down, "It's alright, it actually tasted nice in an odd way." McCoy smiled at Scotty as he ripped a strip of cloth from his shirt, he then drenched it in the water before placing it across Scotty's forehead. "How does that feel?" "Bloody brilliant." McCoy was about to speak when he heard a squeaking noise coming from the caves entrance, he glanced over to see what appeared to be a small monkey of some kinds sitting there. "You can come in little guy, we won't hurt you." McCoy said sweetly, normally he would have chased the monkey off but it looked too cute to scare. The monkey walked over to them cautiously, but it soon took a seat next to McCoy. Clearly he was just looking for some company and who was McCoy to deny him that.
