Evelyn's PoV:
Evelyn paced as everyone quickly gurgled some water.
She thought about her dreams. Her visions.
PIper looked over at her, concerned.
"Evelyn, are you okay?" Piper asked.
Evelyn stared at her.
She thought about her dream, and about how Piper was screaming.
"I have so much work to do." Evelyn said as she rushed past piper and to the tent, to start packing.
I need to stop it. I need to save them-to-to protect them. I can't tell them. I won't tell them.
She made her plans. She knew demigod dreams had meanings. They were going to be put through great pain.
She could stop it though, she would. She would be the one to die, but she had to cut herself off. They would not feel any pain on her behalf.
"evelyn. What's wrong." Evelyn yelped and turned around.
She turned to see everyone around her with concerned faces.
her face turned to stone.
"nothing. We have to travel to the great barrier reef. "She said.
"Why?" Aredian asked, "How do you know?"
"because in my dream-I just know." Evelyn said
They exchanged looks, and Evleyn led the way.
Percy turns the water in the river to ice so they could walk across, then turns it back into water.
"Alright. It said to head east to australia. We need to move."Evelyn said.
"Yeah, what should we do?" Aredian asked.
"Keep walking." Evelyn said.
They headed out and Evelyn kept her distance from them.
When they asked her questions, she kept it short and simple.
She couldn't let them in.
Or they would hurt.
She sighed.
They kept laughing and talking and they were so happy.
She wanted to be part of it too.
She'd never had friends as a child, her sisters didn't like her.
They called her weak and they left her alone.
Thalia was the only one who'd cared.
She took a deep breath. NOne of that mattered now. She wished she could just swish her hand and the memories of that would go away.
Her mum had taught her everything. Given her all the tools to survive. A spyglass, the blue powder, a tent, a magical compass, a bow with arrows that always fly back or reappear. Both celestial bronze and steel. A knife that always reappeared, new combat boots, she'd taught her how to roll all her clothes into a little burrito and save space. A few other trinkets too.
Evelyn remembered archery practice back then.
She smiled.
She loved archery, though sometimes it was frustrating.
She took out her spyglass and turned the dials, pressing the buttons and the lense gpt close up.
She stopped and got up on a boulder.
She looked through, she could see a fence.
"Dammit." she cursed.
She looked closer and she saw a 'no trespassing' sign.
"Kinda have to!" she said, "On a quest here."
"Guys! Hurry up! Less chit chat, more walking!" Evelyn said.
They wouldn't make it.
"ugh we're never going to make it, my feet hurt!" Percy said.
Suddenly she had an idea.
"Percy can make water move faster." She asked.
Percy cocked his head to the side.
"I'm sensing a plan," he said.
Percy nodded. "yeah I can."
"GOod." Evelyn grinned.
"Now all we need is-wait. Never mind. It wouldn't work." Evleyn frowned.
"I have a plan." Ananbeth said.
"Of course you do." Percy said and Annabeth glared at him.
"Alright, here's the cut down tree, cut off the top half, sit on it, and Evelyn and Percy move us because it seems to be moving in the right direction." she said.
Evelyn grinned. "great!"
Jason flipped his caoin which turned into a sword and Percy uncapped his pen which grew into a riptide.
They Formed some kind of scissors with the two swords and cut the tree easily.
Percy chopped off the part with the branches and leaves and they hoisted it into the water.
"Alright let's get on now. I'll work on moving and evelyn you work on keeping us afloat. everyone hold on tight. " he said.
They filed onto the long tree and even focused on her powers.
"woah!" she said as she almost slipped off the side.
"Got you." Aredian grabbed her shoulder and pulled her back on.
"HOld onto me." he said, and she couldn't tell if he was blushing or not.
"erm. sure." She said as she wrapped one arm around his waist and one to keep them afloat.
"alright, i'll go faster now." Percy said.
When he said he was going to go faster, he meant it.
Evelyn screamed as they shot off like a cheetah.
Everyone did.
She got a grip of herself-well, Aredian because his head was starting to turn purple.
She was squeezing his waist too hard and she was forcing the blood upward.
"Sorry." She said.
She focused on keeping the weight of all 6 of them.
It was hard.
By the time they'd got to the fence, they were all soaked.
"This is our stop." Percy said.
The river went through the bars.
"Alright. So now what do we do?" THey all looked at annabeth.
"Climb over." she said.
"Perce, give me a boost." shesaid and Percy let Annabeth stand on his shoulders.
Aredian looked at her.
"I'm not giving you a boost." he said.
Evelyn smiled. "YOu don't need to."
Then she remembered to cut them off.
She frowned at him.
She stood a few steps back and jumped onto the bar, climbing up easily.
She stood on the bar and jumped over.
This was going to be a long quest.
They'd already been traveling 4 days.
She waited for them to come up and laughed as Aredian fell flat on his face.
"Sorry." she giggled and turned around, serious again.
"We have to move. That was pretty good. We saved an hour or two." she said.
She looked through her spyglass and saw a hut.
She brightened. "We can get food and water there."
They all looked at each other.
"we should be on guard though." Percy said.
When they got inside, they all relaxed.
Evelyn found a few bucks and some food.
She quickly made sandwiches for them, and munched on her own.
Suddenly, three old ladies came through the door.
When they saw the children, they shrieked.
"WHo are you? Why are you in my house?" one asked.
She had brown hair, old hands, a wrinkly face, but she was wearing glasses. The others were ugly hags but they weren't wearing glasses.
"Sorry ma'am. we didn't know anyone lived here."Percy said. suddenly it started to rain.
"it's okay, where are your parents?" the middle one asked.
They all looked at each other.
"wwe're orphans." ANnabeth said.
They all nodded.
"Oh. It's okay children, stay the night. It'll be fine you can leave in the morning." The lady said.
"Isn't that how Hansel and Gretel almost died?" Percy asked.
The witches-old hags murmured.
"You can have the top bed room. Go on, get settled in." she said.
"Um. We're only staying the night ma'am." Evelyn said.
"Oh what a pity. Well how about I tell you a story then?" Evelyn looked back at the others who shrugged. Though Percy and Annabeth shook their heads.
Percy held his pen not uncapping riptide. Annabeth had concealed her bone sword with magic, she kept a hand on the hilt.
Evelyn raised an eyebrow at them.
"Sure. What can we call you?" PIper said.
"Medu-Medune. Call me Medune."she said.
"alright." Aredian said.
"What're your names? If you're staying here tonight I must know your wonderful names!" she said.
"Um. Evelyn, Areedian, Piper, jason, Percy and Annabeth." Anger flashed across Medusa's features for a second though it was hard to tell because of her sunglasses.
Maybe she was blind.
"Once upon a time, in a faraway land called gre-greenland, there lived a beautiful young maiden named medu-meddie. That was a nickname, nobody knew what she was actually called. She was in love with a strong handsome, powerful man. Very powerful indeed. he had black hair and green eyes. Much like young Percy here. Very much like Percy. One day, the man, Po-Paul sent her a message, where there date would be. So she went there to meet paul. But then a bad woman came in. Jealous woman. Blond hair, grey eyes. MUch like young Ananbeth here. Very much like young annabeth here. The woman was powerful though. Goddess. And she turned the young beautiful maiden into a creature. A horrible creature with fangs, and snakes for hair. But what was the worst, was that she couldn't see. For when she looked anything straight in the eye, it turned to stone. She was so sad. Cursed forever to be a monster." Medune said, and Evelyn knew she was talking about medusa.
"Do you want to know what happened to Medusa?" she asked.
"Don't look at her!" Ananbeth said as she looked away. Medune took off her glasses, and everyone looked away.
"Medusa." Percy hissed.
"ah. Persuas. I haven't seen you since you cut off my head. Come on Percy, look, Surely you want to see me again. Though your daddy never did." medusa hissed.
"Ew.' Evelyn said.
"Ah yes and the young daughter of the sea. Posiedon was quite the charmer. You have his eyes. Now look into mine!" Evelyn screamed and slashed her sword at the monster.
"Shut up!" Aredian said,' The others will hear you!"
"Too late.'' The other two gorgons came in through the doors and blocked the exits.
Evelyn Tried to remember if they could also turn people to stone.
"DON'T LOOK!" Annabeth yelled.
"Reflective surfaces. Piper, do you have a hand mirror or something?" Percy yelled as he slashed at a gorgon with his sword.
"No!" Piper shrieked.
"STOP YELLING!" Evelyn yelled.
"Alright, team up and kill those two me and Aredian will take sister one. Percy, Annabeth, take medusa." They nodded and separated.
A gorgo advanced on them.
"here's the plan, stand with your back to the wall with the butt of your sword to your stomach, and don't look. Leave the rest to me." Evelyn said as she took out a hand mirror and looked at sister one."
"Hey ugly, over here" Evelyn said as she spotted Aredian with her mirror.
The gorgon hissed and slashed at her. Her cheek erupted in pain, then felt numb,
They fought, Evelyn stood on the counter and taunted the gorgon.
"You fight like a worm, come on, scared?" she asked.
"Come ooon." she said.
"oh i'll enjoy killing you." she said.
"HMm. nah. not really feeling the death vibe today. Hey, have you met aredian?" Evelyn asked.
The gorgan hissed and slashed, as Evelyn backed up the gorgan against the wall.
"Maybe I should find him first." Evelyn pretended to scan the room.
"oh. There he is." the gorgon went kaboom.
She erupted into yellow dust.
"Ha ha! yes! We killed it!" she went in for a high five, ubt then remembered herself.
She slapped his face instead.
"Hey, oww!" Aredian said.
"You're a prick." she said and she dusted herself off.
Jason and Piper had killed their gorgand easily.
Percy and Annabeth were cut up, and bleeding.
"hey evelyn you got something there." Aredian wiped the blood of her cheek.
"It's okay, I'll manage." Evelyn pushed him away.
He frowned.
They surrounded medusa, and stabbed her.
She just fell over.
Maybe it was because she was half human.
"ew." Evelyn said as Percy cut her head off.
"Hmm, what should I do with it?" Percy asked.
"i know." Evelyn grinned, "How about we send her back to her one true love?"
Percy groaned.
Evelyn sent it to Atlantis via hermes mail or something.
"Come on, let's go." Evelyn said.
She flung her backpack over her shoulder.
"I think I'll go change." Evelyn said as she looked down at her grimy shirt.
"yeah.' They all set out to change.
Evelyn took out her clothes burrito.
She would wear an olive green and some white jeans shorts.
She quickly changed.
"Hey Evelyn, you decent?" Aredian asked.
"You already know the answer to that. I can see you peeking through your fingers." Evelyn frowned.
"Yeah, I need this room to change." Aredian said.
"yeah, and one more thing. Your fly's down. has been for six hours now." evelyn snickered at aredian's expression and ran away.
So they changed and left.
Evelyn frowned as she remembered her dream.
Whatever.
She would do what she had to do when the time came.
Fate is a bitch, she doesn't care.
but the image of Aredian screaming weighed her down, and she knew that hanging on to them would only bring despair.
At Least she would be missed when it was time to die, right?
