He had succeeded, though it was less than he had hoped. His Queen was extremely disappointed in his 'freezing'. She will not hesitate to tear his mind apart to find out just why he stopped himself from killing Pyrrha.
Though to be more precise... she will discover the voice if it does not dissapeared like it should.
Grievous was strapped to an all to familiar operating table. The Rat was taking great caution in the repair and replacement of his mechanical body. The rat spoke but he could not made out the words said, he could only guess that the rat wanted to 'discipline' him for all the damages he had taken during the fight.
It wasn't his fault that his body was 80% metal.
So he just ignored whatever the Rat was saying and stewed inside his mind. The voice was currently silent but who knows when it would return. His Queen will not be happy the moment she learns of the voice's presence.
He can only hope, as ironic and disgusting as it is, that his Queen would not be rough with him.
The fact that she's having him repaired the moment he was back could be taken in many ways. Is she doing so for the fact that he was far too indispensable ? Is she going to throttle him into the ground just to show what happens when you piss her off ? There were far too many possibilities that would be obtained by the fact that he's being repaired.
Not all of them are pleasant.
Glynda Goodwitch just watched as Pyrrha slept in the Beacon Infirmary. When the Homegaurd had found her she was completely unresponsive to anything, just constantly mumbling under her breath about how she knew him. she wasn't just who this 'him' was, just that the revelation had left miss Nikos in an even worse state than she was in before.
It had been difficult talking Pyrrha into the first mission, now it may be impossible.
Then the doors opened and team Rwby, alongside Ren and Nora, rushed into the room. Their faces were decorated with a mix of panic and concern as the nurse led them to Pyrrha's bed. The image of them all just trying to comfort their friend just served to strengthen her guilt.
She was the one who convinced... no manipulated Pyrrha into going on this mission with the Homeguard. She assumed that Pyrrha would be safe due to her reputation. She ignored the issues that had been hounding miss Nikos, twisting them so that she could push the girl into accepting.
There was no way she could face her student again for what she had done.
One thing that Grievous hated was not expecting something. So when he had been fully repaired and sent to face his Queen, he did not know what to expect. What he had been met with was not what he was expecting at all.
The black flesh inside his body locked up on him, stopping even his strongest mechanics from moving properly. Had his Queen wished for him to stop moving she could have just told him, but no, she was going to demonstrate just what happens when you fail her. He couldn't stop it as the black flesh inside him sprang out, somehow not damaging any of his repaired body, and began swelling around his head.
The screaming voice of his Queen turned into a hurricane of thoughts that thrashed against the stability of his mind. If he could he would have started screaming in pain, yet nothing listened to him as his Queen invaded his mind.
"I mUsT KnOw WhY yOu StOpPeD!!!" was the jagged echo that crashed into his mind as his Queen interrogated him. "AnSwEr Me NoW!!!" she kept pushing even as he was left without the ability to responded. "It WiLl MaKe ItSeLf KnOwN oR eLsE I'Ll KiLl BoTh YoU aNd mY cReAtIoN!!!" He was going to panic, he wanted to panic, how is he even capable of panicking.
The voice had better stop being so stubborn or else his Queen will kill them both before the days end.
'Operation Breach' had gone off without a hitch. They had broken right into the city of Vale itself and spread fear into their hearts. She will have to thank Grievous for his contribution, later though. He will be a valuable asset during her next stage, if she can just talk to him once more.
For now she will just have to sit back and wait for Roman and Neo to return.
Jaune was without a doubt terrified. He was a prisoner within his own body, always being surpressed and ignored by the new being which drove his movements. Now he had done something stupid in order to stop Hrievous from killing Pyrrha and now this Queen was fishing around to find him.
The screaming echoing through his mind was far too loud to understand. All he knew was that he must not reveal his presence, his own life be damned. Should the queen find him it will stop him from interfering more.
So he let himself sink back into the darkest recesses of his mind, like he had so many times before. He had been submerged when the queen created Grievous, now he will hide were she can not reach him.
At least, he hopes she can't find him.
Nothing was found, no amount of prodding and torment would snuff out whatever was present within her creation's mind. If some piece of Jaune Arc was present, which she doubts there would be, he would not have the strength to stand in the way of her plan. But, she will have to make sure that he does not try anything.
The issue that would arise from this thorn must not be allowed to fester.
She had the best plan for how to deal with this.
She had stopped, the hurricane of noises echoing inside his head had stopped. The black flesh was receding back into his body and he could feel them setting back into place. Yet the smile on his Queen's face was the most unsettling image he had ever been treated to.
"I have a way for you to make up for your failure during your mission" she said, her calm tone doing naught but unsettling him further. "What can I do to rectify my failure, my Queen ?" he said, making sure to bow his head while speaking. "There's a tribe out in Minstral, they've been a thorn in my side and I want you to send a message". He considered what she said and responded accordingly; "How many do you want dead ?".
His Queen smiled even darker at his response. "I want you to kill everyone in the higher echelons of the tribe". This was doable, easier than his previous missions even, far too easy by the sounds of it. "I assume there is something special about this tribe that I should be warned about" he asked, caution being a good virtue here.
"It is believed that this tribe has someone known as the Spring Maiden on their side". As she said this he was pressed with images of women demonstrating strange abilities far outside a semblance. "All I shall tell you is that a Maiden can kill you if you are not careful, even the strongest of Hunters would have trouble against one of them" his Queen explained to him.
Grievous soaked in the images flashing through his mind and began to formulate a plan. He would have to be cautious on this mission, and not aggravate his Queen.
"So, when do I start ?".
Seeing Pyrrha in such condition was one of the most disheartening things Ruby had seen. She was asleep right now but the paleness of her skin and the tear stains on her face were a give away to her condition. It seems that everyday the people she cared about were subjected to pain that she could not connect with.
What happened too the image of that shining Beacon ?
Here he stood, out in the forests of Minstral. The bandit tribe had been surprisingly easy to track, many of their lesser members had become sloppy in their raids. All it took was the quiet tracking of these members and he found a walled-off 'town' of sorts.
It didn't take him long to climb over a blind spot in the wall and make his way through the dark recesses of the 'town'. Honestly for a bunch of bandits the fact that they were this foolish was insulting. He made way through the 'town' before reaching the largest building of the 'town'.
The massive tent/hall had an open top which was easy for him to reach. Looking inside he found that the leaders were organizing raids and assaults on the various frontier towns nearby. Most of the people within the tent were of mo concern, the only real indication of leadership being who was doing the planning.
Then she walked in.
The voice started up again, not loud like before, but quite annoying. It shouted about familiarity, how this woman looked so much like one of his pathetic friends.
It was disappointing that the voice could seemingly disappear and reappear without warning in his subconscious, regardless of the work his Queen did. Though there may be the chance he could use this to his advantage. But that's for later...
Now he has his targets to hunt.
The raids were going well. The devastation of 'Operation Reclaimation' had left both Vale and Vacuo far more reclusive and struck fear into both Atlas and Minstral. It was only logical that they should take advantage of this and strike against the frontier towns while everyone was concerned about the inner regions.
Her entire tribe was coordinating for their largest raid yet. They planned to strike against the fortress town of Briggs, far out in the frontier. The raid may be costly but if they could take the town then they would have a small army's worth of firepower and a true home base.
Everyone was in a good mood, many partying but few getting drunk. The importance of this night is not to be underestimated, one thing going wrong could mess it all up. So she just had to sit back for now while her followers explained the plan.
Then she heard a crack from one of the ceiling's support beams.
She barely looked up before it seemed to bend and break. The sound of something being embedded was easily heard as she turned to her followers only to find one of them with a large splinter lodged in his neck.
Nobody moved for a second as the man's corpse fell to the ground.
Then panic over took some many.
She could barely shout as her tribe descended into chaos.
Then a rope shot up from the ceiling and wrapped around her neck. She was fast enough to put her hands between the rope and her neck yet it stick pulled up off the ground. She only had a glance at the individual who had done this before she was slammed into the ground by the swing of the rope.
Panic only grew as many started firing into the ceiling when they had seen the rope.
She had to calm them down..
Then gut whoever was foolish enough to attack the Brawen Tribe.
The distraction worked perfectly, fear and panic was sewn into the bandits from his actions. Of course he only killed one of them and injured/aggrivated another, that was all needed to start.
He leapt between the tops as many of the lesser began arming themselves. They would serve as a small nuisance, but he was yet to see the so-called 'Maiden'. When he encounters her he will have to be fast, and not play with his prey.
Speaking of prey, another one of the commanders was trying to slink out of the back entrance of the hall.
And that is that, hope you guys enjoyed this chapter.
X3runner you could say you predicted part of my plan.
Also jctsoi and Guest(from April 3rd) you both have good ideas which could become fics upon themselves (which if anyone wants to try a story like this feel free) but sadly they aren't in my plan for this fic. Good suggestions though.
So yeah. See you all with the next chapter for Grievous Arc.
