Hello, everyone! Here is the fifth chapter of Haikyuu! Ninjas! Karasuno will need to pull all the stops with both their ninjutsu and volleyball skills to take down the Red Dragons!
Chapter 5 - Mortal Combat
"I won't let you hurt him!" Yachi hollered.
"Come and try." Leoblade said.
Yachi and Leoblade got into their respective stances and waited for the moment their respective opponent to make the first move.
Leoblade decided to attack first with lightning speed, but Yachi acted fast and used a smoke bomb to disappear in a smoke of purple.
Leoblade used his strong sense of smell to search for the tiny manager.
"Hiding in the shadows won't save you." Leoblade said.
Leoblade sniffed the area until he caught a scent above him on the slightly long ceiling beams. "There you are." He said.
Leoblade jumped up to one of the ceiling beams to strike Yachi, but instead he got met with a paper bomb that just exploded.
Yachi was actually on the ground floor all along, having used the smoke bomb as a decoy to leap up and place the paper bomb on the ceiling beam that just exploded, and used a strange odor that makes it look like her scent to trick Leoblade.
Yachi sighed, before she quickly dodged when Leoblade came downward with his blade, and not having a single scratch or burn on him, missing his mark.
"You surprised me there. But like your counterpart, you make up your lack of strength with tricks." Leoblade commented.
"Don't need your flattery. I'm just getting started." Yachi explained.

Daichi, Sugawara and Asahi struggled to get back up after being hit by the combo attack of Big Smash and Wild Dance.
"You guys alright?" Daichi asked.
"Managing somehow." Sugawara replied.
"Just getting my second wind." Asahi said.
"Face the facts, boys - we have you outgunned!" Moon Jax hollered.
"Don't count us out just yet." Sugawara said.
"Then we'll have to make it more clearer when we break your skulls." Trunkfist explained, cracking his knuckles.
"Finally, we agree on something." Moon Jax said, making a truce with his "partner".
"What's the plan?" Sugawara asked.
"We hit'em with everything we've learned in volleyball and a lot more." Daichi replied.
Sugawara and Asahi, initially surprised soon caught on to what the defensive specialist is thinking and followed his lead.
"Come on!" Daichi, Sugawara and Asahi hollered in unison.
"Fine by us!" Moon Jax and Trunkfist hollered in unison.
Daichi, Sugawara and Asahi used smoke bombs to conceal themselves, giving them the opportunity to strike Moon Jax and Trunkfist from above, since they don't have the ability to sense their presence. The trio landed their mark by hitting the heads of Moon Jax and Trunkfist before bouncing off.
"Mere tricks won't save you!" Moon Jax hollered.
"Hammer Throw!" Trunkfist shouted, throwing his hammer with tremendous force.
"Here it comes!" Asahi hollered.
"Shield Receive and Reflect!" Daichi shouted, first receiving the insane hammer throwing attack like he would receive the monstrous serve of Toru Oikawa, and at the right moment, reflect the attack right back at Trunkfist, staggering him a bit.
"He's all yours…" Daichi said, as a shadow jumped over him.
"Asahi!" Daichi hollered.
Asahi roared as he came straight at Trunkfist with intensity. Trunkfist quickly tried to get his hammer before Asahi could reach him. But it was already too late.
"Jump Fist!" Asahi shouted, performing a jump serve punch attack with extreme force at Trunkfist's face.
Trunkfist took the punch head on and was soon sent flying into a wall extremely hard, knocking out the Red Dragon's muscle.
"No way… that idiot lost?!" Moon Jax exclaimed.
"You underestimated us… and it'll be your last mistake!" Sugawara hollered.
"Blade Staff!" Sugawara shouted, allowing the blade from the top portion of the staff to appear, making it look like a naginata.
"Jackal Jump!" Moon Jax shouted, jumping upward to avoid Sugawara's attack.
"You missed, idiot!" Moon Jax hollered.
Sugawara smirked, confusing the jackal. Only to realize he fell right into Daichi's trap.
"You can't dodge in midair. Now you're mine!" Daichi hollered.
"Charging Crow!" Daichi shouted, charging straight at Moon Jax with the image of a crow appearing behind the Karasuno captain.
Daichi slammed hard into Moon Jax as the two fell down to earth, causing smoke to appear from the crater.
The smoke soon clear to reveal Daichi unharmed while Moon Jax had his eyes rolled completely back and his mouth agape, leaving the jackal Red Dragon defeated.
"Looks like we won our fight." Daichi said.
"Damn, that really took a lot out of this." Sugawara said.
"Oh, man… is he okay? Is he dead?! Is he-" Asahi asked, in a nervous fright if he used too much strength that Trunkfist is "dead".
Sugawara bonked Asahi on the head with the bottom portion of his staff since the top still has the blade.
"Relax, you dummy. Pretty sure that elephant is still breathing. You just knocked him out." Sugawara explained.
Asahi sighed out of relief.
Daichi chuckled before looking upwards, wondering how his teammates are faring.
"I hope the others are doing better than we are…" Daichi thought.

"Nunchaku Shield!" Nishinoya shouted, twirling his nunchucks like helicopter blades that act as a shield while deflecting several air bullet-like attacks with some ease.
Ennoshita and Tanaka charged at separate directions and threw some kunai at Skytalon, but the eagle easily flew up to avoid the throwing weapons and came straight towards Tanaka.
"Bring it, you feathered freak!" Tanaka hollered.
Tanaka charged at Skytalon, but missed when the latter easily flew over the latter and grabbed his right arm with his talon, throwing him straight into Nishinoya.
"Face it, boys. I am superior in the air!" Skytalon hollered.
Ennoshita ran over to Tanaka and Nishinoya as they managed to get back up.
"We can't keep attacking recklessly! We need an actual plan!" Ennoshita hollered.
"I believe Chikara's right. We gotta get our heads in the game." Nishinoya said, getting a grip.
"Right, Ryu?" Nishinoya asked.
"Yeah… charging in blindly wasn't my best option." Tanaka replied.
"Glad you figured that out." Ennoshita thought, deadpanned.
Skytalon came charging at them once again, with not giving the trio little time to think. But for Tanaka, he doesn't need to think and came straight at Skytalon once again.
"You never learn, baldy!" Skytalon hollered.
"Twirling Talon!" Skytalon shouted, spinning like a tornado straight towards Tanaka with his talons out.
Despite the insult, Tanaka didn't flinch or lose his cool. In fact, his mental fortitude is his greatest asset in both volleyball, and now fighting as a ninja.
"Insult me all you want!" Tanaka hollered, before using his sais in an "X" position to defend himself against the deadly attack.
Tanaka soon held his ground without giving up. "But I won't let you stop us!" Tanaka hollered.
Ennoshita came behind Skytalon, using Tanaka as the decoy with quick judgement to slip behind Skytalon without the bird even noticing him.
"Swift Strike!" Ennoshita shouted, performing a fast thrust strike with both tonfas at Skytalon's back, who cawed in pain.
"Grab him Nishinoya!" Ennoshita hollered.
"Got it!" Nishinoya hollered, using one of his nunchucks and transformed it into a kusarigama with the hidden switch blade and a longer reach.
The longer nunchuck grabbed Skytalon's torso, which also chained up his wings and arms, and pulled him away from Tanaka and Ennoshita before running in a circle to tighten the grip to prevent the eagle humanoid from escaping or doing anything else.
"Let's finish him, Ryu!" Nishinoya hollered.
"You know it, bro!" Tanaka hollered.
Nishinoya soon let go of one nunchuck with Skytalon tied tight as he and Tanaka charged forward with haste.
"Radical Smackdown!" Nishinoya shouted, regaining both nunchucks and dealing a barrage of fast strikes with his nunchucks to not give Skytalon the chance to fight back.
Nishinoya quickly backed off as Tanaka came charging in with his right hand gripping the right sai tight.
"Straight Sai Spike!" Tanaka shouted, slashing at Skytalon with the force of a line shot hand spike that blasted Skytalon straight into a wall, knocking him out for good.
"Booyah!" Tanaka and Nishinoya hollered in unison, giving each other a weapon hi-five.
Ennoshita sighed.
"Glad that's over." Ennoshita thought.
Suddenly, Tanaka and Nishinoya felt a strange sensation of a certain female manager in danger. Like their "senses" were tingling.
"You don't think…" Tanaka said.
"It couldn't be…" Nishinoya said.
Without warning, the troublesome second-year combo bolted towards the exit of the room, leaving Ennoshita dumbfounded.
"KIYOKO-SAN~!" Tanaka and Nishinoya screamed in unison, their voices echoing the room.

Tsukishima and Yamaguchi continued dodging Venombite's Venom Attack, but the room floor continues to dissolve until little space is soon left.
"We can't keep this up forever!" Yamaguchi thought.
"Run all you want, boys! But once you've run out of options, the poison will devour it's prey!" Venombite hollered.
"Do you ever shut up?" Tsukishima asked, annoyed.
"Then I'll shut you up, and make that cute Yamaguchi mine!" Venombite hollered.
Yamaguchi shrieked again.
"I don't care what her deal is with Yamaguchi, but I've had enough!" Tsukishima thought.
Tsukishima felt something wrong as his head throbbed in pain, forcing him to stop.
"Tsukki?!" Yamaguchi asked, worried about his best friend.
"This is it! My chance!" Venombite hollered.
"Serpent Fang!" Venombite shouted, lunging forward with her fangs ready to bite, tipped with poison.
Venombite lunged at the still sore Tsukishima, but in an unexpected turn of events, she flew through him and crashed into the floor, much to the surprise of her and Yamaguchi.
The throbbing disappeared as Tsukishima began to see what happened: he became transparent like moonlight, which enabled him to become intangible.
"This is weird?" Tsukishima thought.
"Impossible! You can use the power of the moon like your counterpart?!" Venombite asked, in an angry manner.
"And moon is part of the "moon island" kanji for Tsukishima!" Yamaguchi thought, now happy.
Tsukishima, initially surprised, smirked and quickly understood the nature of his lunarkinesis.
(A/N: Lunarkinesis means moon manipulation.)
Tsukishima then gave a nod to Yamaguchi, who immediately understood the tall blocker's intent and began preparations, while Tsukishima charged straight at Venombite.
The two clashed once again in a fierce contest, with Tsukishima now not need any fear thanks to his new intangibility and used that at the right moment when Venombite went for his blind spots, and swatting away her snake arms. He then quickly took five steps back and move to the side and gave Yamaguchi the chance to strike once his plan is in motion.
"Jump Float Javelin!" Yamaguchi shouted.
Yamaguchi threw his spear like he does with a jump float serve in volleyball since he's practiced it since the Tokyo trip and practice games with Nekoma, Fukurodani, Ubagawa and Shinzen, and hoped it would reach her, but Venombite easily caught it with her right snake arm.
"Now, now my pretty. We still have time." Venombite said.
Yamaguchi then grinned, leaving Venombite confused.
Until she heard a familiar sound and saw the spear coated with several paper bombs to her shock. The bombs lit and exploded violently in a chain of explosions, damaging her greatly.
"Finish her, Tsukki!" Yamaguchi hollered.
"Moon Boomerang!" Tsukishima shouted, throwing his dual blade like a boomerang and striking Venombite from every direction until she couldn't fight no more.
Venombite, now bloody and torn, fell to the ground in defeat.
"Whew… I'm never seeing that face again for a long time." Yamaguchi said.
Tsukishima adjusted his glasses and smirked.

Basara became angry at seeing Trunkfist, Moon Jax, Skytalon and now Venombite defeated.
A snickering sounded that made Basara turn to Master Saru.
"Who's beating who again?" Master Saru asked.
"There's still Wolfgun and Leoblade. And they're the strongest among the Red Dragons!" Basara hollered, stomping towards Master Saru before lifting him up.
"And I'm still here! What makes you think those brats have the strength to defeat ME?!" Basara asked, in an angry manner.
"But they won't get the chance to face you again…" Master Saru said.
A metallic sound was heard as the cuffs on Master Saru fell off, much to Basara's surprise. Master Saru then did a rising kick to Basara's chin and flipping backwards before landing on the floor with style, now free of his bonds.
"Because I will stop you alone!" Master Saru hollered, getting ready to fight his old friend once again.

Kageyama and Kiyoko quickly dodged several bullets from Wolfgun, trying to find a way to counter his versatile fighting style of both long-range and close-range.
"You two can't dodge forever!" Wolfgun hollered, continued shooting without stopping.
Kageyama and Kiyoko are facing a soon-to-be losing battle unless a move can be made on their end.
"Multi-Quick Shot!" Kageyama shouted, firing up to four arrows that use the same traits as the standard Quick Shot and hopes to use numbers this time.
Wolfgun easily shot them down and decided to close in with speed. He began running on all fours he ran at speeds faster than normal, making it impossible for Kageyama to shoot.
"Dammit! He's too fast!" Kageyama thought.
"I've waited a year to get my revenge, Kageyama!" Wolfgun hollered.
"And to make you and Kiyoko pay dearly for betraying me…" Wolfgun said.
Wolfgun eyed on Kiyoko and came charging at her with blinding speeds, much to Kiyoko and Kageyama's shock.
"… One of you must DIE!" Wolfgun shouted, opening his mouth with fangs ready to kill.
Everything happened in a flash, and the answer when the flash stopped became clear to Kiyoko's horrified eyes.
Kageyama was able to protect her, but got bit hard on his right shoulder as he managed to stab Wolfgun in the left abdomen with his wakazashi.
The two struggled as blood came pouring from the wounded areas before letting go, breathing heavily.
Kiyoko hurried to Kageyama's side.
"Kageyama-kun! Are you alright?!" Kiyoko asked, in a worried manner.
"I-I'll manage. But we need to finish him off now." Kageyama replied, trying to act tough despite his wound that he used his left arm to hold, leaving him to hold his bow on his left hand after putting his other weapon away.
"But I can't do it alone." Kageyama said.
Kiyoko knows what Kageyama's thinking and got up beside him.
"Let's do it." Kiyoko said.
Kageyama and Kiyoko felt a strange sensation that once belong to their counterparts, empowering them.
Wolfgun became angry at the sight of them, snarling fiercely.
"If you two must make me suffer more… THEN DIE TOGETHER!" Wolfgun shouted.
"Bomb Bullet!" Wolfgun shouted, firing his explosive rounds once again.
Kiyoko's eyes suddenly glowed upon seeing the bullets coming and quickly moved her and Kageyama out of the way before the bullets hit the wall, exploding.
All three were surprised.
"Did I just… predicted that?" Kiyoko thought.
Kageyama decided to use the chance to strike despite his wounded shoulder.
"Ignore the pain! Fight!" Kageyama thought.
"Elemental Arrow: Fire!" Kageyama shouted, shooting an arrow of fire instead of a normal arrow at Wolfgun, who managed to dodge but got a small burn on his right ear.
"Did I just shoot an arrow of fire?!" Kageyama thought, surprised.
Kageyama realized not only he has fire, but also ice, lightning and earth elemental-type arrows at his disposal.
"Impossible! You have your powers back?!" Wolfgun exclaimed.
"But no matter, I won't stop until you're both dead!" Wolfgun hollered.
Wolfgun charged at Kageyama, but Kiyoko came to his defense in time.
"Fan Tornado!" Kiyoko shouted, spinning wildly as a large wind tornado that hammered Wolfgun and rose him to the sky.
Kageyama was getting ready for one last move before the injuries get to him. He did the unexpected: threw an arrow upward as it twirled in a circle several meters from him, before running like he would for a jump serve, and jumped high enough to meet the arrow and quickly drew it like an archer normally would.
"Minus Tempo Quick Shot!" Kageyama shouted, firing the arrow at even faster speeds than the speed of sound and the setting form of the Minus Tempo Quick Strike, piercing Wolfgun in the chest as a massive crater was created from the impact.
Wolfgun soon laid in defeat - unconscious and still alive despite the arrow piercing through since he's tough.
Kageyama managed to land on the ground but his injury started to act again, forcing him to drop his bow and bow to one knee.
Kiyoko quickly rushed to Kageyama's side and took out a mini-first aid kid she had while kneeling beside him, using a bar of soap and some water on a white rag to tend the injury. Kageyama flinched a bit.
"Try not to move too much." Kiyoko said, now taking out a cloth bandage and wrapping it around Kageyama's right shoulder down to his left abdomen and repeated the same process until it's nice and fit.
"This should stop the bleeding." Kiyoko said.
Kageyama began to blush with Kiyoko near him, before getting another flashback about his and Kiyoko's counterparts once in love. He never felt that way when he first met her back at Karasuno High and treated her with respect.
But since coming here, Kageyama's memories of his counterpart are hard for him to hold back.
"Oh, what the hell…" Kageyama thought, deciding to get it out of his head so it doesn't distract him later on.
"Hey… Shimizu-senpai…" Kageyama said.
Kiyoko turned to face Kageyama.
"This may seem uncomfortable… but I… I…" Kageyama said, blushing harder and fidgeting.
"I honestly… love you…" Kageyama continued, trying to speak lower but Kiyoko heard with surprised eyes.
"At first, I thought it's ridiculous since you're a third year and I'm a first year, and Tanaka-san and Nishinoya-san have a shot with you. Also because I thought of volleyball more than anything else." Kageyama continued.
"But the things that mutt said to hurt us made me remember our counterparts were in love. Us. I know you're not into love and that's alright. But now… I love you with all my heart and it's fine if you don't love me back." Kageyama finished.
A second of silence before Kiyoko took off her glasses and set them to the side. Kageyama feared the worst and closed his eyes to except a slap in the face, but instead… he felt a soft feeling on his right cheek; two plush soft pillows pressed gently.
Kageyama opened his eyes in shock at seeing the rare sight of Kiyoko smiling at him, making the setter blush heavily.
"To be honest with you… I had a small crush on you since you joined the club." Kiyoko explained.
"Not because you're good looking or a talented player… but you trying to find your place in the world after being rejected and ostracized." Kiyoko continued.
"I felt the same memories our counterparts once shared together. That those memories made my feelings more apparent to realize." Kiyoko continued, blushing pink.
"But I don't plan on dating you…" Kiyoko finished, putting her glasses back on.
"That's alright." Kageyama said.
"Not while we're still teammates…" Kiyoko said, shocking Kageyama again.
"When we're no longer teammates… whether we win the Spring Qualifiers and make it to Nationals, and either win or lose there… after our season is done and we're no longer teammates… then I'll say yes." Kiyoko continued.
Kageyama stood in shock once again, taking in all the information and gave a smile. Not a forceful one, but a real genuine smile.
"Now let's keep moving. The others are gonna need us." Kiyoko said, getting up and putting the kit away.
"Right." Kageyama said, getting up as well.
The two began to make their leave and rejoin the others as fast as they can.

Yachi rolled on the floor after getting kicked by Leoblade.
"Face the facts, little girl. You're nothing." Leoblade said.
Yachi struggled to get up as she previously took a piercing blade to her right leg, forcing her to be on her knees.
"You have little talent in fighting and hate conflict. That boy is more of a worthy opponent than you ever are." Leoblade explained.
Yachi kept trying to fight, but the words Leoblade said to her were worse than a knife in the gut.
Leoblade walked closer and grabbed Yachi by the neck, as the little manager was gasping for air.
"This is a battlefield where girls like you don't belong at all." Leoblade said.
Leoblade prepared to drive his sword into Yachi, until he was blasted by a slash of fire and sent back, releasing Yachi.
Yachi coughed hard as she saw her savior: it was Hinata back up and ready for another fight, but now with a furious expression on his face and his swords ignited by heliokinesis (the manipulation of the sun that uses both light and fire).
"I've just about had it with you bastards making fun of Yachi-san!" Hinata hollered.
"She's just as important as anyone on the team! She's more than just Villager B! She's the most coolest, prettiest, kindest person I've ever met!" Hinata hollered.
"And also… THAT'S THE GIRL I LOVE WITH ALL MY HEART!" Hinata shouted, now releasing a golden orange aura.
Yachi was blushing red with tears now flowing down her face after Hinata's genuine words not only healed her spirit, but said he loves her.
Yachi suddenly felt a strange power and saw the injury on her leg now healed up with her hands glowing a bright golden aura, indicating she now has healing powers.
Leoblade got up and became angry.
"Why must you protect weaklings when you're strong?" Leoblade asked.
"It's not a matter of being strong or weak! Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses a team is created to combine those traits to grow stronger together!" Hinata replied.
Hinata charged with his fiery swords against Leoblade, who barely had the chance to defend himself. The two clashed more furiously than ever in a sword fight.
"Sun Fire!" Hinata shouted, shooting a ball of fire that looked like the sun from the tip of his right sword straight at Leoblade.
"Cross Slash!" Leoblade shouted, doing an "X"-shaped slash to destroy the sun, but Hinata wasn't letting up and continued attacking.
Leoblade grew angrier and fought with more rage, now overwhelming Hinata to the point he got several laceration marks on his body.
"ACCEPT YOUR DEFEAT!" Leoblade shouted, preparing for a downwards slash.
"Fire Rain!" Yachi shouted, throwing multiple kunai with paper bombs that exploded violently at Leoblade, damaging him greatly.
"Finish it, Hinata!" Yachi hollered.
"Alright!" Hinata hollered, deactivating his heliokinesis and preparing to strike.
Hinata quickly kicked Leoblade in the air and jumped high before holding his arms in a cross with his swords on each side of his head.
"Minus Tempo Dragon Fang!" Hinata shouted, slashing Leoblade with a mixture of Dragon Fang and the spiking motion of the Minus Tempo Quick Strike extremely hard, sending Leoblade down to earth and defeating him for good.
Hinata landed on the ground safely as Yachi came to him.
"That was amazing!" Yachi hollered.
Hinata chuckled as he put his swords away.
"Oh! Your injured! Let me help!" Yachi hollered, seeing the lacerations still on the middle blocker.
Before Hinata could say, Yachi used her new powers on Hinata, completely healing him without any trouble.
"Wow…" Hinata said, amazed.
"Can I ask you this?" Yachi asked.
"Uh, sure." Hinata replied.
"When you were cheering me up, you said you love me?" Yachi asked.
Hinata blushed furiously.
"Me and my big mouth!" Hinata thought.
"But this is a chance I have to take! I can't go back on it!" Hinata thought.
Hinata leaned in and kissed Yachi on the lips, taking her by surprise as her face grew red. He hugged as his kiss continued, making her accept the warm feeling and return the kiss with her hands around his neck and with his right hand on her back and his left holding her waist.
It lasted for a few seconds before they released for air, leaving the two blushing red in the face. They were in a hug though.
"H-Hinata?" Yachi asked.
"I really… really… REALLY LIKE YOU, YACHI-SAN!" Hinata shouted.
Yachi blinked twice before blushing much harder.
"R-Really?!" Yachi asked.
Hinata nodded.
"Other than volleyball… I like you the most! The second I met you, I believe, no, I knew you were this beautiful girl who can do amazing things! You're kind and caring to make me feel a better person who helped me, even though I far from the smartest…" Hinata explained, which made Yachi giggled.
"Because you… you are my world," Hinata said, which made Yachi speechless. "I thought my world was just a spinning volleyball, but my world is now you, Hitoka Yachi." Hinata commented.
Yachi was touched by his kind words once again and smiled.
"Yachi-san… no, Hitoka. Will you be my girlfriend?" Hinata asked.
"Of course Hinata… no, Shoyo! I will!" Yachi hollered, hugging Hinata tight before having another kiss on the lips that lasted for another few seconds.
"We better find the others and get back to save Master Saru." Hinata said.
"We will. But the others will find out about us eventually." Yachi said, blushing again.
"Let them. There's nothing for us to hide." Hinata said.
Yachi giggled as they began racing to the end of the room to reunite with their friends.

Master Saru and Basara clashed with their staves and martial arts equally. Master Saru did a low sweep that Basara jumped to dodge before slamming his staff down. Master Saru quickly got out of the way in time.
"This time… only one of us will be walking out of here!" Master Saru hollered.
"And I promise you this - it will be me!" Basara hollered.
The Red Dragons are now defeated! But Basara is still left and Master Saru may be the only one to stop him as old friends prepare to settle their long feud!
Next time: Chapter 6 - Old Friends
This is by far one of the longest chapters in the story! Like Holy World Adventures, Hinata, Kageyama, Tsukishima, Kiyoko and Yachi (but only the healing and not the wings) have powers like their counterparts for reasons unknown. Hinata and Yachi have also confessed their feelings (as HinaYachi is my favorite ship in Haikyū!), while Kageyama and Kiyoko decide to hold off on their's despite the confessions both have made to each other. On a side note, only three more chapters until the story is done!
