On Friday as they were eating breakfast an owl dropped a letter right in front of Harry. Hagrid's asking me if I want to have tea with him after our lessons he said. He then turned to Ron, Dipper, Mabel, and Pacifica. Would you four care to join me? Yes said Ron. I'd be glad to said Dipper. He seems like a nice guy said Mabel. Hey Hermione, do you want to come as well? asked Pacifica. I appreciate the offer but I have some studying to do said Hermione. Suit yourself, it's your loss said Ron.
After lessons they went down to see Hagrid. Hagrid lived in a small wooden hut on the edge of the forbidden forest. Because Hagrid was so big it was no surprise the door was so large. Hagrid opened the door with a cheery smile on his face. Ello Arry, I see ye brought some friends he said. He then ushered them into his hut. After they all introduced themselves Hagrid let out a laugh. Another Weasley eh? I spent half me life chasin yer twin brothers away from the forest. If the Weasley Twins are in their third year and you've spent half of your life chasing them away, that would mean you're only five years old said Mabel. Hagrid burst out laughing again. I swear, every set of twins at Hogwarts has a sense of humor, from what i've seen. He then offered them some tea and some treacle fudge. Then they heard a bark coming from under the bed. That's just me dog Fang said Hagrid. I think he's kind of cute said Mabel. Then Harry noticed something interesting in a page in the daily prophet. For the first time in history somebody managed to break into Gringotts. Gringotts goblins, while acknowledging the breach insist nothing was taken. The vault in question, number 713 had been emptied earlier that same day. That's the exact same vault that Hagrid and I went to. He did say that Gringotts was the second safest place to keep something next to Hogwarts. When Dipper told Hagrid that he was going to tell on Professor Snape, Hagrid advised against it but Dipper was still going for it. He also told Dipper to be careful with the Weasley twins during his flying lesson. Who knows what those two had in mind.
After the visit to Hagrid's Dipper went off to the owlery to send a letter to his parents. He walked in and there was Edward ready to go. Hi Edward, sorry I haven't been around that much. Maybe you could come and visit me in the dormitory sometimes. He then wrote the letter for his parents telling them all about he and Mabel's first week of school. Then he gave the letter to Edward and Edward flew off, but not before he had his feathers stroked.
That night Dipper and Mabel were getting ready for their first sleepover of the year. They had just changed into their pajamas and were setting up sleeping bags down in the common room. Well, all things considered I think our first week was a good one said Dipper. Yeah, I can't wait to see what happens next said Mabel. Although I really don't know if you want to try telling on Professor Snape. Well whatever happens we still have each other said Dipper. You got that right bro bro said Mabel. The two then got into their sleeping bags and yawned. Good night Mabel said Dipper. Good night Dipper said Mabel. The two of them then fell asleep.
The next morning it was finally the weekend. That meant the students had off classes and they had a lot of free time. During breakfast Percy was having a stern conversation with Fred and George. I want to make sure that this is just a flying lesson and nothing against the rules said Percy. If Mason isn't back in one piece i'll be telling Professor McGonagall.
Soon Dipper was down by the lake with the Weasley twins. Quidditch is easy enough to understand said Fred. The playing part is what's difficult said George. Each team has seven players said Fred. Three chasers, two beaters, one keeper, and one seeker said George. The chasers work together to get a scarlet red ball ball called the quaffle into one of three hoops to score 10 points said Fred. The keeper defends the hoops said George. Me and George are beaters said Fred. During the game two balls called bludgers fly around the field on their own and try to knock players off their brooms said George. The beaters job is to stop their teammates from getting hit by knocking the bludger away with a bat said Fred. They also try to aim them towards the other team said George. The most important position is the seeker said Fred. Their job is to catch the golden snitch before the other team's seeker and score their team 150 points said George. The game isn't over until the seeker catches the snitch said Fred. Seems simple enough, now that I know the basics of the game let's get into learning how to fly said Dipper. The Weasley twins got out their Cleansweep fives and one of the school's comet 260's. Dipper was a fast learner and got the hang of flying very quickly. Madam Hooch will be impressed during your first lesson said Fred.
Right after that whole exchange Dipper went to the staff room to talk to Dumbledore about Snape. He knocked on the door and was greeted by a lady who was polishing what looked like a crystal ball. I'm sorry, I don't believe we've met said Dipper. I am Professor Trelawney, the divination teacher she said. And you are Mason Pines, the future astronomy teacher at Hogwarts. Ah, did Professor Sinistra tell you about my knowledge in that subject? asked Dipper. No, it's just a prediction said Professor Trelawney. To what do I owe the pleasure? I'm actually here to see Professor Dumbledore said Dipper. Oh he doesn't usually hang around the staff room said Professor Trelawney. His office is behind a stone gargoyle on the seventh floor, the password is Bertie Bott. Thanks, it was nice meeting you said Dipper. He then walked away. Professor Trelawney called out to him as he walked away. Farewell Mason, i'll see you in two years.
Dipper then walked up to the stone gargoyle and said Bertie Bott. The gargoyle moved and revealed a staircase. Dipper climbed the stairs and stopped at a door. He knocked on it and heard the word enter. Dipper walked in and was amazed at what he saw. The walls were covered in paintings of People Dipper never met before. In the corner of his eye he saw a bright red and yellow bird. In another corner he saw the sorting hat. And sitting behind a large desk was the headmaster himself. Ah Mason, please have a seat and help yourself to a lemon drop said Dumbledore. Dipper sat down and put one of the drops in his pocket. What can I do for you? asked Dumbledore. I'm here to tell on a staff member who's been taking away points for false reasons said Dipper. Oh dear, students doesn't usually do this said Dumbledore. Which staff member is it? Professor Snape said Dipper. I am well aware of the favoritism he shows towards his own house, and the distain he has for the house of the lions said Dumbledore. While it is unfair I'm afraid I must refrain from doing anything. While he is wrong he is justified in his actions. Something happened while he was at school that traumatized him. I'm also keeping him around because of a plan I have. While I can't tell you anything right now, I promise you will find out eventually. Just know that if he punishes you for a false reason you will know in your heart that you are innocent and the headmaster believes you. Right, but that doesn't mean i'm not angry at him said Dipper. There are also some questions I would like to ask you said Dumbledore. First, how many people here refer to you as your real name Mason, and how many people use the nickname Dipper? Whenever the staff aren't referring to me as Mister Pines they go by the name Mason, and that of course includes you said Dipper. All of the students use my nickname with the exception of Percy Weasley said Dipper. Do you have any preferences? asked Dumbledore. Not really, it doesn't really matter said Dipper. Second, how well do you get along with the upper years? asked Dumbledore. I'm pretty good friends with Ron's three older brothers said Dipper. I occasionally bump into students from other houses in the library and we say hello. At one point the Slytherin head girl offered to help me with my history of magic homework and that proved to me that not everyone from that house is bad. Although one downside is that most of them will graduate before me and I might never see them again. Never say never Mason, when I was in my final year one of my classmates took a liking to a first year and they got married twenty years later said Dumbledore. Third, where did you get an interest in Quidditch? I was really into sports when I was little said Dipper. I never actually tried out for any of the teams though. Considering how there are sports in this world I thought I might give it a go. Finally, you seem to no longer feel shy around Miss Northwest said Dumbledore. Do you still have feelings for her? It's kind of hard to say, we're still young and there is a whole lot more me need to know said said Dipper. He then got up. Thank you for the talk, I better get back to the common room to work on my defense against the dark arts homework. It was my pleasure Mason said Dumbledore. Just remember that help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it.
As Dipper was walking away from the office he took his lemon drop out of the wrapper and began sucking on it. He had a strange feeling that the plan Dumbledore mentioned had something to do with vault 713.
Authors note: Dumbledore is my favorite character in all of Harry Potter so I had fun writing this chapter. He's a wise old father figure who is always willing to give advice and help those in need. It just makes me want to give him a hug.
As always if you have a prediction for a suggestion or a prediction for a future chapter, feel free to let me know in a review.
Thank you for reading and please have a great day.
