Chapter 6: The Beginning of Renewed Harmony.

In the White House, the President along with his aid, including Jerome Wise, were discussing things that has happened, including the secret that was spilled out due to the Earthquake and now people, who had been clueless about their lives being underground until this point, were demanding answers on all of this unfolded. It didn't help that the news broke out on the appearance of the young blue hedgehog who saved the lives of two people and despite the uncertainty behind the Mobian's motives, he didn't seem to be a threat.

"And what of this hedgehog?" The President asked.

"It is unclear at the moment, Mr. President. For intend purposes, no one is hurt and he doesn't seem to be causing trouble." The female aid reported.

"Well, we can't be too careful. I want that hedgehog monitored and see what he does." The man in charge ordered, only for the intercom to go off, and with an annoyed sigh, he answered. "What is it?"

"Sir! You won't believe this! The son of the famous actress Lindsey Fair and Nelson Thorndyke, Christopher Thorndyke along with Professor Thorndyke have arrived with the hedgehog, requesting to speak to you!" The security guard explained, sounding shocked which alarmed everyone else in the room.

"What!?" The President asked.

"This must be some sort of trick!" Wise exclaimed. "Sir, you can't be putting your trust on this...this animal!"

"The hedgehog can speak. He calls himself Sonic the Hedgehog and wishes to talk to you urgently in peace." The guard continued.

While the President was suspicious about this and didn't believe on those silly Sci-Fi movies, if there was anything wrong, capturing the hedgehog would be easier since he came to them. Still, if they can reason with Sonic, maybe there won't be any conflicts.

"Send them in, but treat them as guests. We don't want to cause any hostility." The President finally ordered, to the shock of Wise who gasped in disbelief.

"Mr. President-!" Wise cried out.

"I know. This is a huge risk, but if we can reason with this hedgehog, maybe we can come to peace terms." He cut his aid off, which made the younger man growl but knew he couldn't do a thing about this.

With the order given, it wasn't long before the doors opened and the President stood up with his aids and bodyguards on standby, as Sonic, Chris, Chuck and Mr. Tanaka stepping inside while the doors closed. The four stopped in the middle of the room, with the blue hedgehog feeling admittedly nervous and mentally gulped, hoping that this would work out. For Chris and his grandfather, it was such an honor to be the man of the highest rank, but they too were nervous, more for Sonic's sake than anything else.

"Uh...Hi, Mr. President." Sonic greeted with a small wave. "Nice to meetcha."

Needless to say that the fact that the legend is true and Sonic can talk was a shock in and of itself. None the less, the President cautiously approached the teenager and held out his hand to offer a handshake. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Sonic the Hedgehog."

Hesitating himself, Sonic shook hands with the human leader and felt relieved that so far there weren't any grudges. This was the same guy he saw in his dreams. Strict for the law, but kind towards others.

"I was told that you wanted to speak to me." The President went down to business.

"That's right. I'm here because I want to clear things up before everybody on both sides get the wrong idea. You know, with your continents rising up to the surface and all of that." The blue hedgehog confirmed.

"Please explain." The President requested.

Sonic nodded and he and Chris both explained their dreams on what happened, with the Dream-Link and everything that's connected, added with what Chuck knew, to which the President confirmed he and the Government knew about this and yet had to keep a secret due to fears of what the surface would bring, and it wasn't surprising that the man in charge and his staff were shocked by Eggman's actions.

"And this Dr. Eggman character seeks to take over the world?" Asked the President.

"Yes, sir. My friends and I have been fighting him for a long time and as far as he's concerned, he thinks he's better than everybody else. He even treats his robots badly." Sonic answered.

"And do you see us as threat because we are human?" Wise asked suspiciously, making the President and Sonic's group glance at him in shock.

"Jerome!" The President grunted in disappointment, before sighing as he repeated the question to the blue hedgehog. "Sonic, do you see us as a threat despite your and Christopher's Dream-Link?"

Sonic shook his head. "No. I knew that everybody's the same in spirit despite how different we are. But I don't just people by their appearances. I judge them for their actions and sure I do make mistakes, because everybody does, but what I can say is that I know not all humans are bad. Same with us Mobians. Heck, Knuckles and I stopped a crazy Peacock who tried to control Tornadoes and Hurricanes to take over the world, and a couple of lizard brothers who tried to tame a Octopus to do their bidding for revenge just because they weren't allowed to stay in a hotel."

"That's a bit much." Chris muttered, shuddering.

"Those two sound like trouble-makers who acted worse than misbehaved children." Chuck grumbled.

"No argument there." Sonic agreed, before saying to the President. "My point is, I think it's unfair that everybody in humanity had to live underground because of some stupid aliens decided to try and destroy everything. The world is meant to be shared."

"And what makes you think-"

"Mr. Wise, please be quiet." The President ordered, making Wise attempt to protest. "Hear Sonic out."

"Mr. President-!" Wise tried again.

"If you don't be quiet now, you're fired!" The man in charge snapped, causing his assistant to gasp in horror, before obediently fell silent if he wanted to save his job.

'This guy really likes his job and living in the White House a whole lot and only cares about himself. No wonder he got fired in the dream world. He'd do anything just to get what he wants.' Sonic thought to himself. Still, he couldn't blame the guy for being suspicious.

"When you say the world is meant to be shared, what do you mean by that?" The President asked carefully.

"Well, if humans and Mobians could live together in peace, harmony and understanding, living as equals and that both sides are good and bad, I don't see why we can't do the same thing. The real threat is Eggman and his robots, and possibly other evil beings from either side. I don't want a war or a friction to break out because of a misunderstanding or any other major problems. So please, I ask you to talk with the other governments, talk to my village's mayor and sort things out. I beg you, Mr. President." Sonic responded with full honesty.

Seeing how Sonic was fully honest and pleading for peace, and that Chris was looked just as pleading and hopeful while gazing at the blue hedgehog, and his grandfather looking hopeful as well, the President could see the truth in the teenager's emerald green eyes. Plus, like the man in charge, Sonic wanted peace, and made the same suggestion he thought of.

"I believe we've come to an agreeable term." The President announced, smiling softly, which surprised the trio and shocked Wise while the rest of the staff thought of the same thing. "I was uncertain about you at first, Sonic, and when I heard you wanted to speak to me, I had thought that we could talk about peace between your kind and humanity. I am pleased to say that-"

Before he could finish, there was a loud boom which shocked everyone and as they all turned to the window outside, their eyes widened as they saw, to Sonic's horror, the Missile Wrist Robot flying through the city and heading towards the White House, with Eggman in the Egg Mobile.

"Watch out!" Sonic screamed, using his speed to quickly have everyone out of the room just as the large robot launched it's arm and smashed through the window, opening a hole which allowed Eggman to peer through.

"Oh ho ho ho ho ho ho ho! Good evening. I hope I'm not interrupting anything." Eggman greeted.

"Eggman!" Sonic hissed angrily, quickly standing in front of the humans. "What're you doing here!?"

"I'm here to speak with the man in charge, of course. So you'd better get out of my way, Sonic, if you want live!" The evil scientist warned darkly.

"I'd rather die protecting everybody than surrender to you, Egghead!" The blue hedgehog snapped, standing ready to fight.

"Ha! You think I won't destroy this city if you don't cooperate, hedgehog?" Eggman scoffed. "Either Mr. Bigshot behind you surrenders or this city is toast! Now move it!"

Sonic shook his head. "No! I'm here for peace talks, and if you think you're gonna form your stupid Egg Empire, you've got more eggs in your brain than you thought, Eggman!"

"You ruined my world domination plans already this morning, Sonic, today you won't do it again! Move it or that little boy behind you and that old coot will be in for it!" Eggman warned, snapping his fingers for the Missile Wrist to attack.

Sonic knew that if he moved, then the President, Chris and Chuck would get captured, and there was no way he could fight it without causing damage. He wished his friends were here and he had a feeling that Tails, Amy and Knuckles would've noticed the evil man's rude entrance and were probably(and hopefully) on their way right now to help. Without much of a choice, he used his speed to shove the humans out of the way as much as possible just as the Missile Wrist grabbed him and pulled him towards it, holding the trapped teenager in it's grasp.

"Sonic!" Chris and Chuck screamed out in horror, while the President and his staff all gasped in shock that Sonic had risked his life to save them.

Sonic struggled to try and free himself, but was held firmly while glaring at the robot who was staring at him. The blue hedgehog attempted to ignore his enemy's victorious ugly grin.

"Ahahahahahaha! You're mine, Sonic! Hope you enjoyed your little day off after foiling my plans in using the Emeralds as well as your little bunny and Chao friends against you, because you're history!" Eggman laughed evilly.

"Let him go!" Chris pleaded, about to recklessly try to save his friend, only to be held back by his grandfather.

"Chris, no!" Chuck exclaimed, holding his struggling grandson back.

"Let him go, Dr. Eggman! Or else!" The President demanded.

"Or else what?" The evil doctor challenged. "I hold the cards here. Or in this case, I hold the hedgehog who is always Mr. Hero but is now Mr. Zero!"

"Chris! C-Chuck! Mr. President! Everybody! Run! Don't listen to him!" Sonic cried out, only to scream in agony as the robot began squeezing him tighter.

"This is all a ruse!" Wise, still distrusting for Sonic, exclaimed. "That hedgehog's the one who brought this crazy madman here, and all the peace talks were a ruse because they both work together!"

Eggman raised an eyebrow at the overly dramatic and superstitious staff member. "Are you nuts? I wouldn't team up with Sonic in a million years. In fact, I can't stand heroes and I especially find this to be boring and I hate quitters!"

Sonic winced as he was unable to escape, but he refused to give up, and shouted. "Leave them alone, or you'll be sorry!"

"Sorry?" Eggman questioned, glaring at his young enemy. "I'm already sorry that you and your friends have survived the explosion! What brings you here to speak with the President anyway?"

"None of your business!" The blue hedgehog yelled, struggling once more to break free. To think that in his dream Amy had been the one who was captured by this robot. But she'd been reckless and not thinking. While he had saved the lives of his human friends and the President, now he was the one captured in reality. It was so no cool.

"Dr. Eggman!" The President exclaimed. "I, the President of the United Federation, surrender, only if you agree to let Sonic the Hedgehog go."

"Mr. President, no!" Sonic cried out, horrified only to be squeezed tighter, making him scream in pain.

"I'm glad we've come to half an agreement. Unfortunately, since this hedgehog has always been a thorn on my side, his days are over!" Eggman declared evilly, horrifying the humans before he ordered his robot. "Missile Wrist, squeeze the life out of Sonic and blast him into smithereens!"

"Affirmative." The robot replied, squeezing the helpless hero who cried out even further, and Chris screamed out the teenager's name in horror and sorrow.

Sonic in the meantime, the full hard-brick realization hitting him hard, could only feel the crushing defeat for the first time in his life while thinking of how things would've been different if he hadn't come up with the idea of coming here, or at least stopping Eggman's minions from making the machine blow up and everything else that's happened. Guilt, sorrow, fear, anger, agony and defeat washed over him so hard as he came to a cold truth that this was it; All this time in fighting the evil scientist, if this was how it would end, then Eggman has truly won.

'This is all my fault. Why couldn't I make things even better?' Sonic thought, squeezing his eyes shut as he began to cry while bracing himself for his bitter end, while the world was doomed to be in his enemy's clutches. 'I wish this was all a nightmare! Then everybody would be alright...!'

"LET HIM GO!" Chris screamed out, and in blind rage and desperation, picked up a scattered brick and tossed it at Eggman's head, ignoring his grandfather's warning. It was perfect hit as the evil scientist was hit on the forehead.

"Ow!" The evil scientist cried out, slumping and wobbling in his Egg Mobile with imaginary stars circling his head.

With the evil scientist distracted, Chris picked up another one and with careful aim while the robot turned it's attention to it's creator, he hit the Missile Wrist on the front and while it just bounced off, it made a loud clang which caused the machine, with the blue hedgehog still within it's grasp, to turn it's attention to the boy and, with Sonic noticing this and shocked that his friend was putting his life at risk, felt the grip on him begin to loosen. Then, out of pure luck, a familiar battle roar was heard from outside and Knuckles suddenly appeared, punching the robot on the back and causing it to slump forward and let Sonic go.

Now freed and stunned while relieved that his friends came to the rescue, Sonic narrowed his eyes and leaped away before doing into a Spin Attack at the robot, forcing it outside while the crowd had long since left when Eggman arrived. It landed on the front lawn with a loud thud. The guardian of the Master Emerald landed next to the blue hedgehog who felt all negative emotions swept away and his confidence returned while in the air, Tails and Amy were firing at the robot without causing damage to the building and the pink hedgehog tossed her Piko Piko Hammer at the machine even though it bounced off.

"Why do I always end up saving your life?" Knuckles asked the younger teen in slight annoyance.

"Guess I'm just that lovable." Sonic teased.

"Knuckles! Tails! Amy!" Chris cried out in relief, which surprised the other three Mobians while the blue hedgehog smiled in relief and Eggman, recovering and not hearing the boy call out their names, gaped in shock and disbelief at the unexpected rescue.

"Huh?" Knuckles muttered.

"We'll explain later. Right now, we've got an Eggman to crack and a robot to trash." Sonic quickly told his friend, then said to his human friend. "Thanks, Chris! Nice aim!"

When Sonic and his friends turned their attention to Eggman, the evil scientist was now beginning to look worried but even more agitated by the arrival of the heroes who came to Sonic's rescue. To make things worse as the robot began to recover, Sonic decided to try what Dream-Knuckles had suggested and as it extended it's arm to attack, the blue hedgehog decided to forgo in taunting it repeatedly and hopped onto the hand while holding on.

"What are you doing?" The red echidna asked.

"The old slap on the wrist!" Sonic replied, smirking while allowing himself to be brought up close to the robot again.

Realizing what his friend meant as he had been told that it was Knuckles' idea in the dream, Knuckles smirked as he was glad that the blue hedgehog liked that idea. Sonic in the meantime gave the robot a raspberry while pulling his lower eyelid down. This insulted the Missile Wrist and unfortunately for it, like it's dream-counterpart, it fell for the trick and when Sonic leaped away, it ended up smashing it's own arm and caused it to malfunction. Knocking it back further away from the building, the hero of Mobius then went for a full on Spin Attack before it could fire despite Eggman's orders, emerging without injuries and smashed right through the robot where it exploded and everybody backed away for cover.

"All right, Sonic!" Chris, Tails, and Amy cheered happily.

The smoke cleared and Eggman, caught in the explosion, was now covered in soot, coughing and groaning. Sonic returned to where the evil scientist was and glared up at him with his arms folded.

"Who's Mr. Zero now?" Sonic taunted.

"This isn't over, blue boy! You haven't heard the last of Eggman!" Eggman grunted. "I will rule this world, and the Chaos Emeralds will be mine!"

"Yeah, yeah. I've heard it a million times already. And guess what? You won't be getting either as long as my friends and I are around to do the right thing!" The blue hedgehog replied, crouching slightly. "You've over-stayed your welcome, so get lost!"

Flinching as with his enemies having him cornered, Eggman pleaded at the young heroes. "Keep away!"

"Bye!" Sonic said, Spin Attacking into the Egg Mobile and sending it and it's pilot flying away in the sky.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!" Eggman screamed as he was blasting off and disappeared in a blink like a star.

"Loser." The blue hedgehog commented, smirking.

"Sonic!" Amy cried out, leaping out of the plane despite Tails' protest and to Sonic's dismay, hugging him tightly while nearly knocking him over. "I was so worried!"

"Ow! Amy, take it easy!" Sonic cried out, managing to push her off him but he still held her at arms length, and he smiled softly. "I'm fine, really."

Tails by then landed the plane and hoped out, using his name-sakes to fly into the office where Sonic, Amy, Knuckles and the humans were while Chris raced over.

"Sonic, you did it! I knew you would." The human boy cheered happily.

"Thanks to you guys. If you hadn't thrown those bricks at Eggman and his robot and if you guys hadn't shown up, I woulda been a goner." Sonic replied gratefully. "Thank you."

His friends all laughed and after nodding to Tails and Amy to reassure them that Chris is a friend and is welcomed to join in, Sonic was embraced by three of his best friends, happily hugging each other.

"Sonic." The President spoke up, making all six of them to look which ended the group hug and to their worry, the man didn't look too happy.

Fearing that Eggman's attack might've ruined the chances for peace talks, and seeing how the security looked livid, Sonic quickly held his arm out to stop Knuckles from doing anything stupid and despite his friends and Chris' grandfather looking at the blue hedgehog worriedly, the teenage Mobian approached the President with a resigned expression and heavy heart. He'd been so close to make things right, and now because of the evil scientist, Sonic failed. So he got to his knees to show that he surrendered and hoped that his next words would convince the Government to let his friends go.

"Mr. President...I'm really sorry for the damage Eggman caused, and for not stopping him sooner. You can arrest me, but please, I beg you to heed my request for peace talks..." Sonic squeezed his eyes shut. "And please don't hurt my friends. Let them go...!"

Unable to hold it in as he felt that he was a complete failure and his mind made him see what would happen to him next; Sonic saw himself handcuffed with Jerome Wise grinning in victory before being thrown into jail, wearing those prisoner garments, being forced to work in fixing up washing machines and refrigerators while war broke out, and all of the Mobians would blame him and his friends for letting it happen and either humans would dominate and rule over Mobians, or the other way around, or the world left in ruins, or Eggman succeeding and taking it over and his obnoxious evil laugh echoing while tauning the fallen hero's name; the blue hedgehog covered his face with his hands and sobbed.

'I'm sorry, Tikal...I tried...It...It wasn't enough...I failed...I failed everybody...I wish this was all a horrible dream...' Sonic thought as he wept, believing that the President would now consider him a threat, and almost everyone would accuse him for working with Eggman and not hear him out.

"You see, Mr. President? Mobians can't be trusted! We need to send these animals to Area 51 and capture all of them around the planet! For the sake of humanity!" Jerome declared, while secretly pleased that Sonic surrendered as he feared that it would cost him his job if the President lost the re-election, all because of one blue hedgehog who was the hero.

"I see..." The President began, which made all of Sonic's friends gasp in horror and dismay before gazing at their crying friend who sobbed even harder when he heard this as well. But what he said next caught everyone off-guard. "...That Sonic is right about Dr. Eggman."

"H-huh?" Sonic tearfully and slowly looked up in confusion.

"What!? But sir-!" Wise exclaimed.

"Not only that, but you also accused this young hero who saved our lives and you're very ungrateful for his good deeds at the risk of his own. He and his friends came all this way to restore peace between both sides. He is also right that humans and Mobians had managed to co-exist in the past. The time has come for us to do the same. It is because of Sonic and Christopher that their Dream-Link has re-established the bond that was left in the dark for far too long and now we have been given the chance to live on the surface again. They don't want war and neither do I." The President continued, which began to restore hope to Sonic and his friends who gazed at the man in disbelief and awe.

He then turned to his aid and declared firmly. "But you don't see that. All you see is politics is the right answer to everything. So with that, Jerome Wise and for safety precaution as my eyes are wide open about you, you're fired!"

"Mr. President! Please! I'm only doing this for you and for humanity!" Wise protested.

"This is not a discussion for argument. You're fired!" The President declared, turning to his security. "Have Mr. Jerome Wise put under arrest and I'll deal with his sentence later."

"Yes, sir!" The bodyguards saluted, and grabbed hold of the protesting Jerome who then began wailing once the reality of his life now being ruined hit him hard.

Watching him go, Sonic felt guilty even if Wise was a jerk. He hesitantly turned back to the President and said. "Um, don't you think jail time is a bit too much? I didn't mean for him to lose his job, and I fully understand why he doesn't like me, even though everything I've said is the truth."

"Sonic, sometimes human politics are complicated and I always knew that Jerome Wise cared more about his job since I always had an inkling feeling he wanted to stay in the White House for another four years." The President told him, his expression softening into a small smile.

"If you ask me, that guy is a superstitious whiner." Knuckles remarked, only to be hit on the back of the head by Amy who shushed him. "Ow!"

"Knuckles, don't be rude!" The pink hedgehog scolded.

"What? I was just saying-"

"Knuckles, please..." Tails stressed a pleading, making the sixteen year old grumble but remained silent.

"Your echidna friend certainly is a brave one, isn't he?" The President remarked, chuckling.

While still mixed with guilt and relief, mostly relief since he wasn't going to jail himself, Sonic chuckled. "Knuckles is a great guy and not one to back down. Gullible, but a great guy."

"Hey!" Knuckled protested.

"I'd be lost without any of my friends." Sonic continued, turning back to the President. "Still, I'm really deeply sorry. I didn't know or think that Eggman would attack since he's always a trickster."

"Sonic, I wasn't angry with you, if that's what you're afraid of." The human leader reassured. "Now, as I was about to say before Eggman invaded, I am pleased to say that I agree with your peace terms, and wish to speak with the Mayor and other Mobian Governments in hopes of uniting the world together once again."

Sonic's eyes widened while Tails, Amy, Chris and Chuck smiled happily and Knuckles was surprised, unable to believe what they were hearing. All of the nightmarish thoughts that Sonic thought of before Jerome's arrest were gone in an instant, placed with a more, realistic vision of humans and Mobians living together in peace and harmony. It would take a while, but Sonic was very relieved that he almost passed out.

"Thank you, sir. It means a whole lot." The blue hedgehog replied gratefully.

His friends were just as happy, as Chris and Tails shared a high-five despite only just having met, Amy squealed, Chuck chuckled and Knuckles let out an impressed smirk.

Thus after agreeing to meet the Mayor tomorrow, Sonic and his friends thanked the President once again and decided to head home, the Mobians promising to return. As they prepared to leave to head back to their village and Sonic offering Knuckles to the spend the night at his house, the fifteen year old and Chris stood together having a moment alone, reflecting on everything that's happened in the last 24 hours.

"I'm really glad we got to meet for real, Sonic." Chris stated, gazing up at the night sky from his balcony as he seated on the chair while the blue hedgehog relaxed on the railing.

"Same here, Chris." Sonic replied, content and finally relaxed for the first time since waking up from the long dream. He sighed and admitted. "You know, when I found out that everything we've been through was all just a dream, I thought you weren't real. I was...devastated. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stop thinking about you, and I was so afraid that I would eventually forget you. I couldn't do that. I didn't want to do it. I...I know that we've only just met for real...I feel like we've known each other for a whole year."

Sniffling while wiping away tears that developed, the blue hedgehog turned his gaze to his human friend who looked more than ready to cry himself. "I missed so much, buddy. Even though I had Amy, Tails, Knuckles, Cream and Cheese and everybody else, I really missed you. I was a mess. I thought the Chaos Emeralds lied to me. I couldn't stop crying and I never cried so much in my whole life."

"I was a mess too. It was so bad that I forgot Ella's lunch she made me, I couldn't focus in class, everybody thought I was crazy and I even ended up getting detention." Chris confessed, sighing and smiled emotionally at his friend. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me, Sonic, and I'm so happy that we were both born in the same world. Now we can see each other without worrying about the space-time thing stuff."

"You and me both, pal. I can't wait for all the adventures you, me and the others will go on. The real adventures." Sonic replied, before hopping off and approached his friend. "Chris...remember. No matter where I go, I'll always be with you. You and Tails are the brothers I never had. I love ya."

"I love you too, Sonic." The twelve year old boy sniffled, bending to the teenager's level of height and the two friends shared a hug they craved for, longed for, the bond they shared via the Dream-Link that was now made real.

Finally the void that had been in his heart had closed up and Sonic couldn't be any happier. Despite the close call today, this was much better than what he and Chris experienced in their shared dream. They didn't have to go through the trouble to find the Chaos Emeralds just to return to a world beyond another. Mobius/Earth was the one single world, and no one had to worry about the merging or Time being destroyed. It would take some time, but soon Mobians and Humans would be able to learn to co-exist, and soon find peace and harmony, learning from their differences.

All because of the bond shared by Chris Thorndyke and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Three weeks later...

Sleeping soundly in his bed in his home, Sonic was awoken by the sound of flickies tweeting and the sun's rays shining on his face through his window and yawned while stretching his arms. Feeling refreshed after a good night's sleep, the blue hedgehog got out of bed and put his shoes on, doing a couple of stretches before heading downstairs to make himself some breakfast. It had been three weeks since what has happened and despite there was still a bit of work to do, he felt that things were looking up already despite a few mishaps(mainly due to Eggman), since the meeting between the Mayor and the President went really well.

As every government around the world are focusing on coming to agreements with the aid of Sonic and his friends while keeping the main threat at bay, slowly but surely Mobians and Humans across the globe began to see how close Sonic was to Chris along with his friends, while the human boy introduced Francies and Danny to Sonic's group and as the blue hedgehog had hoped, despite the slight hesitation, everybody was gettling along just fine. Cream and Vanilla quickly became friends with Ella who adored them, Chris's parents were thrilled, Tails and Chuck became really good friends over their interests in inventions and machinery, and Sonic got the chance to meet Sam Speed who, suspicious at first, refused to lose his title of the Speed King but the two got along to become friendly rivals for races from time to time.

Sonic even began training Chris in arts of battles despite that the blue hedgehog was reluctant to have his friend get involved in future fights, but after the human boy insisted that he wanted to help him further despite still going to school, he didn't want to be useless like he was in their shared dream. So the teenage hero eventually gave in and with his family's permission and agreement from the Government, he agreed and did so for the last few weeks with the aid from Amy, Knuckles and even Tails. Sonic and Chris did get some helpful advice from Mr. Tanaka, but neither had the heart to tell him that the butler's experience was wrongly learned from all of those martial arts movies.

Rouge the Bat, attempting to sneak into Station Square to steal some jewery but was caught and when Sonic caught wind of this, quickly reassured the human goverment that it was just in her nature, especially since a human robber did the similar thing a week back, and seeing her skills, the President decided to hire Rouge as an agent for GUN, yet failed to convince Sonic to join since the cobalt teenager preferred to continue living his life free.

'Can't believe it's been three weeks already. Man, this is working out better than I thought it would.' Sonic thought to himself as he ate his freshly cooked eggs and bacon. He had been quite worried that it wouldn't, but after meeting upon meeting, he was relieved that everybody came to an agreement and decided to learn to adapt together once again and learn from their ancestors' past mistakes, hoping that what happened 10,000 years ago wouldn't happen again.

The blue hedgehog smiled happily, chuckling while thinking. 'Not only that, now I can enjoy new places to explore and I can see Chris whenever I want without worrying about time going all haywire or worlds merging.'

The moment he thought of that however, Sonic paused as he realized, in the midst of attempting to bring about peace and harmony between Mobians and humans(who were still getting used to the idea of being on the surface for the first time in 10,000 years), he forgot something that was part of how he came this far in the first place.

"The Master Emerald." Tikal said, turning her gaze back to the Emerald that has been both her home and her prison for 4,000 years. "When one begins to fear their own Chaos Energy overflowing, and it becomes too much for their bodies and soul, the Master Emerald will absorb the un-needed energy. You will still be able to use the Chaos Emeralds, but when you feel and sense that it becomes too much, return here and let it fix you."

"So the Master Emerald is the cure we need?" Knuckles asked, shocked and surprised. "I never knew that!"

"Well, it does control the Chaos Emeralds, so it should control the Chaos Energy too." Tails pointed out. "But what if it has too much of someone's Chaos Energy?"

Sonic folded his arms, just as uneasy. "I'm more worried about what would happen if Chaos had too much of my energy, if I keep coming back to stop myself from dying. You sure it's such a good idea? I only wanna use the Emeralds in case of an emergancy."

"I'm...not certain, either. I only know that the Emeralds use the powers based on hate and rage and sorrow." Tikal admitted.

"That's true, but there're other feelings way more powerful than anger and hate. It's friendship and thinking of others that brings out the real power of the Chaos Emeralds. That's how I transform into Super Sonic with them all the time." The blue hedgehog reassured, before admitting. "But still, after what I've seen in my dream, I can only hope that Eggman doesn't find out about this, especially with Chaos potentially having my energy that I really don't need."

"I forgot about the Chaos Energy. But...is it really a good idea to let the Master Emerald absorb it with Chaos still trapped inside that thing?" Sonic whispered to himself, finishing up his breakfast and pushed the plate back to fold his arms onto the table, feeling uneasy.

Not only that, how did Tikal know his name? He had been so busy for the last few weeks he completely forgot about the fear of the Chaos Emeralds draining away his energy.

"Guess I'd better pay her and Knucklehead a visit today. Plus, it's a slow day, so nothing too major is happening." The cobalt hedgehog finally decided after a few moments of thinking.

After cleaning up his dishes, Sonic raced out of his home and made his way to Angel Island before it would move and float away for who knows how long. As he passed by the village, he saw a couple of human visitors, curious children and their parents who were getting along with Mobians with the youngsters playing with their new friends and the adults happily chatting and having interesting interests. The blue hedgehog greeted them briefly before continuing his way.

He made sure to check in on Tails who was fine, and made a brief visit to Amy while making sure she wouldn't tangle him up for a date, before he finally made it to Angel Island and met with Knuckles who, still a bit uncertain about the whole thing, felt that things were settling. But when Sonic explained his reason for a visit, the red echidna was silent until the blue hedgehog finished.

"Hmmm...Well, are you feeling any different in the last three weeks?" Knuckles questioned.

"Nope, but I'm kinda worried. I mean, the Chaos Emeralds did make me and Chris Dream-link, and I've been transformed into Super Sonic more times than I can count." Sonic confessed, shivering a little as he rubbed his arms. "It won't be long before Eggman goes off looking for them again, but I'm too scared to use them without messing up if I do have too much of the Chaos Energy within me."

"But you're also worried what would happen if you let the Master Emerald absorb too much of it each time you have un-needed energy?" His friend asked.

Sonic shrugged. "That, and...I'm scared that Chaos would be even more unstoppable if or when he would end up released and has too much of my energy. I mean, I wish I could make his anger and pain go away, but we can't risk in freeing him ourselves. So we're pretty much stuck."

"You're right." The red echidna sighed, folding his arms in deep thought. "But unless we figure something else out how to cure you if it does happen, the Master Emerald may be our only option."

The hero of Mobius sighed uneasily, knowing that his friend had a point. He didn't want to lose his soul because of the un-needed Chaos Energy, but what if allowing the Master Emerald absorbing the energy he didn't need would only fuel Chaos? Or if Eggman uses it somehow if he steals the giant emerald itself? Another thing, there was one question he needed to task the princess herself.

"That's also something that gets to me, like...how did Tikal know my name?" Sonic spoke once more, scratching to top of his head. "The only reason I knew her's is because of the dream-link me and Chris had. I can't help but also think that it was also some kind of premonition or whatever you call it."

"So you think the Chaos crisis you saw in your dream may actually happen?" Knuckles asked, feeling a little pale at the thought.

Sonic nodded grimly. "If I were you, Knux, I'd keep a closer watch on the Master Emerald, and I'll do my best to keep Eggman away from it. I don't want what happened to Station Square in the dream happen in reality."

"I'm afraid there is no avoiding such a future." A familiar female voice echoed, startling the two teenagers who spun around facing the Master Emerald which glowed once more, and a small red orb appeared, before it materialized into that of Tikal.

"Tikal!" Sonic and Knuckles exclaimed in unison.

"It is a vision the Dream-link has warned you, but you can only do your best to ensure it is not as terrible as you have seen, Sonic." Tikal continued gravely.

The blue hedgehog paled, realizing what she meant, before asking. "Tikal, if that's true, then how did you know all of this? More importantly, how did you know my name?"

The echidna Princess sighed, explaining apologetically. "Until the time I sealed myself inside the Master Emerald, and the Dream-link you and Christopher shared happened, I once had a premonition in a dream of the future events, but my memories of them were supressed and even now, I have vague recollection of what is yet to come. Most of the dreams involve you Sonic, and all of your good deeds in protecting the planet from evil forces."

"Really?" The teenage hero asked, surprised that he was seen from future events in Tikal's dreams in the past. He then thought of something and gasped. "Wait! If that's true, then won't that mean I'm gonna end up forgetting some of the important parts of the dream?"

"When the time nears, those memories of certain events will be vague." Tikal sighed, "But that doesn't necessarily mean they are gone forever."

"Oh, man. I was hopin' that the dreams would help me in preventing most of the terrible parts; like Chaos absorbing all of the Emearlds and wrecking Station Square, or Eggman releasing Shadow-if that guy's real-and almost everybody mistaking me for him, arresting me when I'm totally innocent and blowing up half of the moon." Sonic grumbled uneasily, rubbing his arms nervously once more.

"You could always write about those events to jog your memory." Knuckles suggested sarcastically.

Yet while he was aware of his friend's sarcasm, Sonic's eyes widened in realization and he beamed while snapping his fingers. "Yeah! That's it! I'll write everything down while I still remember and keep a few copies just in case. Knux, you're awesome!"

Despite being surprised by this, the red echidna smirked and said proudly. "Well, I'm not a guardian for nothing."

"Hey, man. You also helped me out a few weeks ago when I was upset and confused. If you hadn't thought of what's been happening, I still woulda been a wreck." The blue hedgehog pointed out, before blinking as he remembered his other crisis and turned to Tikal, saying. "Speaking of which, not to change the subject or anything, but...is the Master Emerald really the only way to help me with the Chaos Energy that I don't want or need?"

"It is what I was told of and many have used the Master Emerald absorb the Chaos Energy they feared in having many times in the past...before the terrible tragedy. It's...what Chaos told me before my father's invasion." Tikal replied apologetically, then admitted. "But I can understand your uncertainty, Sonic. You bear the power stronger in using the Chaos Emeralds than most in your generation's history thus far, the only one of the few to do so."

Sonic gulped at this. "Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of."

"Actually, I think there's an alternative, but it hasn't been used in centuries." Knuckles spoke up, causing both his friend and ancestor to glance at him in confusion. "During the last few weeks, I came across something as I searched for some clues in case Sonic's fears are right. Problem is, it's written in an ancient language my parents failed to teach me before they died."

"That doesn't sound promising either." The cobalt speedster shrugged, worriedly. "Besides, I can't help it that I was born with my speed and I'm one of those people being able to use the Chaos Emeralds without really trying, no matter how careful I am."

"Sonic, may I ask you a question?" Tikal began, and despite being confused, Sonic nodded. "In your heart, what are the most important things you cherish?"

"My friends, freedom, running, and the world and everyone in it." Sonic replied, almost instantly without hesitation. "Mobius belongs to everyone, and everybody has a right to live their own lives, and if those like Eggman try to do horrible things, I'll be there to stop them. I love my friends like they're my family, and I live to see and experience something new every single day, since life's too short to not know what ever happens does happen. I just go where the wind takes me."

Nodding to himself, the cobalt speedster continued. "That's why I'll fight because not only everybody I care about and love and the world are important to me, but it's the right thing to do. Even if I have to give up my life for it."

The echidna princess smiled softly and warmly, touched by the blue hedgehog's words and sastisfied with his answer. "Spoken like a true chosen hero."

"Anybody can be a hero when they put their minds and hearts to it." Sonic pointed out with a shrug. "As far as I've always known, a true hero means putting other people's safeties first before your own, no matter what the risks you face, and no matter how scary or dangerous they are. You just gotta do what your heart tells you to do. At least, that's what I figure."

"Then there is no doubt that the Chaos Energy will not effect you as much." Tikal responded. "You use your power only when it's truly necessary, and from what I hear, you also use the power of special Rings to help you as well."

"They sure do come in handy." The blue hedgehog replied.

"Perhaps I can help you decipher this ancient writing, as if Knuckles is right, then perhaps the Master Emerald may not be the only way to help you, Sonic." The echidna Princess suggested. "I do remember my mother telling me once that one with the more benevolent heart can be protected, but I was a young child at the time."

Despite that he still felt uneasy with this even though he didn't want the Chaos Energy within him to get worse, or have it accidentally flow into Chaos within the Master Emerald, Sonic gazed at the giant gem for a few moments, wondering if what Knuckles found may be a better alternative and hoped that it wasn't really bad. If he didn't solve this soon, he could end up losing control of his Chaos Energy which in turn would begin to drain away his life energy and destroy his soul. The cobalt speedster had to trust in his friends to help him with this problem, just as they helped him with his other problem three weeks ago.

"Alright. Let's see what this alternative is." Sonic finally decided, sighing a bit shakily. "Just so you guys know, I'm kinda scared."

"Understandable. An overdose of Chaos Energy is extremely dangerous." Knuckles replied, placing a hand onto his friend's shoulder. "Especially when it comes to the Chaos Emeralds."

Sonic nodded slowly. "I wish I knew sooner. Things really have been totally crazy in the last month."

"Blame Eggman for that. He's the one that caused all of this." The red echidna scoffed, which made the slightly younger teen chuckle a little as he knew that the Guardian of the Master Emerald was right. Knuckles then gestured Sonic and Tikal to follow him. "C'mon. It's this way."

"Aye aye, Guardian Knuckles." Sonic playfully saluted.

"I will use my power to hold Chaos off for a while until I return, but I can't stay out for much longer." Tikal cautioned, as she magically transformed herself back into her red glowing orb form, and followed the two younger Mobians who, realizing that she had a point, nodded and headed to the place in hopes in finding another solution to Sonic's problem.

Meanwhile, in a far away dimension similar to Sonic's world, only it was much like how his dream went-meaning no humans actually exist here, save for one but doesn't yet know it, in a huge secret base belonging to the said human who was an evil scientist and resembling to Eggman, except this Eggman's mustache and bit of hair were white, and his clothes are a black military-styled jacket with long coattails, a red jumpsuit with a metallic-looking vertical silver stripe going up the middle and black and yellow-striped boots with gray soles.

This Eggman was known as Dr. Eggman Nega, who was evil yes, and similar to the original Eggman, except this man was more evil, more twisted and cruel. Polite and calm in construct, but his goals were extremely far more darker. He stood before a group of alternate Mobians who stood ready to fight him, even though they were different compared to Sonic's group.

One was Blaze the Cat, an Alter-Mobian lavender cat with topaz yellow eyes, white muzzle, a light purple tailcoat dress with a ruby in the middle, long leggings and boots, and white gloves with fluffy cuffs. Another was Jet the Hawk, a green hawk with a jacket, blue eyes, and white gloves on a hover-board of sorts. The others were Wave the Swallow, a pink Swallow and Storm the Albatross, a big white round Albatross, both also having hover-boards. There was even Tangle the Lemur, a female Lemur with a long tail, and behind the cat and the Lemur, was Cosmo, a young alien girl with pale peach skin, green hair with two pink buds that were styled like hair-buns, a long green and white dress with a ruby on her chest, blue eyes, and long white stockings with green shoes, trapped in a circular capsule.

"It's over, Eggman! You will never use the Sol Emeralds and you will never hurt Cosmo!" Blaze declared, glaring hard at her long-time enemy.

"On the contrary, my dear Princess." Eggman Nega began calmly with an evil grin. "You know as well as I do that the Sol Emeralds hold tremendous power, and via unusual events that brought the little alien girl from her dimension and destroyed world-which I wish I had caused-done by unknown forces, once I destroy this world and you and all of your friends, I will enter the alternate reality and cause destruction there."

"You're insane, Nega! You can't do that!" Tangle shouted, glaring angrily at the evil man.

"Stealing priceless gems is one thing, but even I cross the line when it comes to killing. Seriously, bozo! My gang and I are the Babylong Rogues, but we're not killers!" Jet added, glaring hard.

"You've really crossed the line, you monster!" Wave added.

"Yeah! No killing innocent people allowed!" Storm grunted.

"You pitiful fools. Life is not even worth living. Day after day, crime is victorious, death is eternal, life is short, and there isn't really much to do. Death is the only true way of existence, because existence should be erased!" Nega declared.

Cosmo, having been captured earlier, cried out. "You can't, Nega! If you keep following this dark path, you are no better than the ones who destroyed my home world and themselves!"

But the evil scientist just cackled darkly. "Oh, but this is the path I choose, silly little girl. Observe my greatest design...and your doom!"

He hit the switch on his Egg Mobile similar to the original Eggman's, as the lights turned on to reveal he was over a huge machine, and within the slots were seven different coloured rectangular gems, the Sol Emeralds, which were glowing and to everyone's horror and dismay, the machine began to power up. It had a huge cannon that was pointing at the ceiling which began to open up and revealed it was in the middle of the night with the full moon out. Blaze and her allies all stared in shock and horror as the cannon began to power up.

"The end is near, Blaze. Once I get rid of you and your friends, my dream will finally be made a reality!" Nega declared, grinning widely.

"NO!" Blaze shouted, uncontrollably flaring up in flames as, being the Princess and born with the ability to control fire, she had to keep her powers in check but still couldn't handle it sometimes. This was one of them. Still, she launched her attack and tossed a large fireball at Nega who gasped and quickly powered up a shield around his Egg Mobile to protect himself, but only with limited success.

"You are trying my patience, you annoying cat...!" The evil doctor growled, snapping his fingers while ordering apparently to no one. "Orbot, Cubot! Make sure you safe-guard the Sol Emeralds! Robots, destroy those fools!"

A round red robot, Orbot with red hands, and his companion, Cubot, a cube-like robot in yellow, hovered into the room, but in the midst of the crisis as Blaze and her companions, with Tangle racing over to try and free Cosmo, and Blaze focusing on Nega, the Babylon Rogues hopped onto their hoverboards to try and get to the Sol Emeralds and an all-out battle struck. The Princess of the group focused hard to create a pillar of fire and flung it to Nega who dodged it before firing his laser at his enemy who leaped and dodged each attack.

Tangle tried to break into the glass while using her tail that surprisingly stretched out to knock away any robots that came towards them. Jet, Wave and Storm flew and sped around the robots while forcing the machines to destroy each other in an impressive speed almost just like Sonic's while racing over to the Sol Emeralds.

"They're comin' straight at us, par'ner!" Cubot cried out in a cowboy voice, as he and Orbot began to panic.

"Hand over those Emeralds before we smash ya's, tin-cans!" Jet shouted as he and his gang sped closer and closer.

"We cannot do that! It is Dr. Nega's orders to keep them safe from you thieves." Orbot replied.

"But...didn't we steal 'em in the first place?" The yellow robot asked dumbly, as he was known as the stupidest robot ever created, prompting his 'brother' to facepalm himself.

"Chaaaaaaarge!" Storm shouted.

"This...is a problem!" Orbot admitted.

Cubot, not wanting to get smashed and coming up with a stupid idea, spun around to grab the Sol Emeralds while exclaiming. "I reckon we'd oughta git outta here!"

"No, Cubot!" Orbot exclaimed, while at the same time Blaze fired another attack which collided with Nega's, causing a massive explosion that accidentally made the Babylon Rogues to lose their altitude and sent flying forward screaming and crashed into the two robots, smashing into the capsules and hitting the Sol Emeralds which began to glow very brightly.

The machine began to flicker and spark while the crystals became more and more brighter, causing everyone to look and their eyes all widened in shock and horror.

"What's happening!?" Tangle asked, worriedly.

"No...Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! What have you done!? The Sol Emeralds are going out of control!" Nega screamed in dismay.

"Everyone, look out!" Blaze screamed, realizing that her battle against her enemy has caused this to happen and began to blame herself for her failure.

The machine began to explode while the Sol Emeralds glowed so brightly that they formed a huge ball of light that engulfed the entire base and everyone it as they all screamed while bracing themselves, with Cosmo, covering her eyes, felt something glow in her dress' pocket but paid no attention to it as it too began to glow and mix in with the light...

Then everything was silent and everyone lost consciousness.

A/N: Sorry that the battle part with Eggman wasn't that great(did my best with Chris not being completely useless), and the Sonic Rush Characters(Blaze and Nega), the Babylon Rogues, Tangle and Cosmo(yes she makes an appearance early due to this story being set in an AU and thus the Metarex Saga won't happen but the Metarex themselves may or may not be mentioned) are too OOC, but I tried my best as this story is starting to become a long one and thus Sonic is in for another new adventure as we go into a mixture of how the original anime began, Sonic Rush and Sonic Riders.
