Peter had been extremely tense and nervous when the day came and he had gotten home back from work after a routine patrol as Spider-Man. He had thought about whether to call Aunt May to let her know of his plans but decided that it would be better to let her know from him as soon as possible or else she might not be too happy to find out later.
Her reaction was basically as expected.
"Seriously Peter, if you wanted to finally try and move on from Gwen then there are so many other options that you could have tried. Someone more down to earth like Ms Watson... You could be letting your starstruck awe overclouding your judgement..." chided Aunt May and Peter just sighed shaking his head.
"I will be fine Aunt May; don't worry as I know what I am doing. We got to know eachother before asking her out and I will be okay." Peter assured her as she didn't sound so convinced when she asked if he was sure and then the call ended. Peter put on the tuxedo that he had gotten from his Uncle Ben, which he wore on his first serious date with Gwen and he had spent half a paycheck getting it as good as can be at the drycleaners. He spent some time in the mirror making himself look the best and then got a bouquet of flowers that pretty much costed the other half of the paycheck.
He went out of his apartment and took the quickest route to get to the Themysciran Embassy; he got through the gate and to the door went in to the receptionist who said that Diana was expecting him. He was shown to Diana's room and knocked and Diana answered with a big smile in a stunning backless black dress and Peter was speechless as he presented her with the bouquet with she accepted and put in a nearby vase.
"Do you always dress up this good when you are out on a date with someone below your league just to make them feel even more out of your league?" Peter ended up asking and immediately mentally kicked himself for his foot in his mouth as well as realising that this time Diana had dressed up this good for him and not for undercover work.
"No, I dress my best when I go out with a great guy in serious need of help with his self confidence. Been sometime since I met anyone that I had wanted to date." Diana replied in a warm comforting voice as she came closer to Peter. "Now please enough talk of this; I don't want anything to ruin our date." Diana told him as he shook his head.
"With our luck... No scratch that, MY luck it will be ruined by having to respond to an emergency since i had dates ruined by having to do my job as Spider-Man. You are probably more prepared than I am since it would take me more time to change into being Spider-Man." Peter muttered as Diana looked at him amused.
"Hopefully we will be blessed with none of that happening but were you referring to how I usually keep my regalia underneath my dress? Doesn't always happens but do you want to see for yourself?" Diana asked in a teasing tone as Peter was now totally red in the face. "Please forgive me Peter for taking advantage of how easy and fun it is to make you red." Diana said as she held his arm in his and motioned for him to follow her outside to the limousine, wondering what was in store as Diana had told him to let her take care of choosing the place to spend their date at.
Peter hand in hand sitting next to Diana in the limo felt relaxed and ended up resting his head on her shoulder; they arrived and Peter jumped out of his seat when he looked at the window and saw that they were at one of the most expensive restaurants in New York. "Don't worry Peter as everything will be on me." Diana assured him and Peter felt more broke than normal at this point but still he should just enjoy this night. Once Diana was recognised with them going out of the limo there were onlookers and paparazzi taking pictures and video as they came in and Diana gave the man at the desk her name for the reservation that she had booked.
They were shown to their table and Diana told him to order what he wanted and Peter just went with it as he got a big impressive spaghetti meal. They started talking and Diana was quite casual in talking about not only her fights to protect the Earth but charity work as well; it was amazing at how she had delivered talking about it as if it was nothing to brag about. Peter without irony didn't realise he was doing the same when he was whispering about the people he saves and helps as Spider-Man; even when talking about how he had once lifted up entire debris using his strength and determination to get to life saving medicine that his Aunt May needed at that point. He did have some more pride talking about getting to work for Max Modell at Horizon Labs at projects meant to help the world.
The date went well and Peter was to a last bit of long spaghetti and decided to ask "So you want to try doing this like the Disney movie the Lady and the Tramp?" Diana raised an eyebrow and Peter panicked as he asked "sorry, I wasn't trying to suggest that you were a female dog with the word..."
"No I was referring to the idea of you being the Tramp but I get what you mean but I don't think this would have worked like that." Diana told him and Peter felt like a fool before he noticed that she looked amused. They finished their food and Diana got out a credit card from her dress to pay for the bill as they exited only to spot a large man and an obtuse man both wearing ski masks trying to carjack the limo.
Peter yelled at them as they went to sling at him his Spider-Sense allowed him to duck and kick back at one of them before Diana took down the other one. The two would be carjackers panicked when they saw Diana's bracelets on her hands as Peter and Diana went to make sure the driver was alright.
The staff from the restaurant called the police as a look from Diana warned them not to try and make a break for it. "Trying to carjack a rich car was your idea Flash so now we get busted by freaking Wonder Woman!" ranted the obtuse man in an oddly familiar voice to the other one.
"Shut it Carl; we needed money and this was the best bet we could have done! How could we have known it was Wonder Woman's limo?" snapped the other one as police came and unmasked them to be Flash Thompson and Carl King two of Peter's worst bullies from Midtown High. Peter jumped as he recognised them.
"I know these goons; they were the chief bullies at Midtown; they got into real trouble when they went too far." Peter whispered to Diana who was surprised and raised an eyebrow at the two. He remembered a week after he had gotten their powers; they thought they would press their luck and dismiss their warnings about bullying to go after Peter but with his powers he dodged their attempted punches and ran away from them. This only made them mad as they charged after Peter who made a getaway and caused them to tackle someone down the stairs at the school. Bad luck for them it was the visiting superintendent and so they were marched to the principal's office and were basically suspended and then banned from extracurricular activities (which meant that Flash was kicked off from the football team ahead of a big final game). Community service and warned that anymore incidents with them whether trying to bully another student or not then they would be expelled and could be on their way to juvenile.
"Flash, King... What are you doing since I think I remember you Flash saying that you were on your way to winning twice as many Super Bowl rings as Tom Brady." Peter commented with a bit of a vindictive smirk as Flash and King looked at Peter and were in disbelief and anger.
"No F***ing way! I lose scholarship deals and denied by every university and Puny Parker ends up dating Wonder Woman..." Flash ranted as he and King managed to get free of the grips of the officers as they charged at Peter who got out of the way but were taken down by a stern looking Diana.
"I hate those trying to assault my date and I hate bullies." Diana told them sternly as they officers took them into custody as Diana opened the door for Peter to be let in once the officers had taken their statements. "Not the worst thing that could ruin our date but overall it was good I would say." Diana told him as Peter smiled in return. "How about we drive you home and I see to your apartment?" Diana offered and the feeling of resting on her arm and her soothing voice made him not feeling to argue.
They got to the apartment building and Diana insisted on seeing him to his room; of course there were others in the building noticing them and wanting autographs and pictures with Diana happy to oblige. Peter didn't mind as refusing the looks of the beady eyed children would make him feel terrible.
Peter was beyond embarrassed as she glanced at his bedroom and he was panicking when she noticed the Wonder Woman figure among the display of toys on the desk and there was a pin up poster from a magazine issue that she had done a photoshoot off. "Don't worry Peter as thanks to the Lasso I know what you think of me but I don't mind at all how much my date is into me. I hope that we could have another date soon." Diana told him and Peter thought that it was a win that Diana wanted to get past the first date with him.
She leaned in asking silently for a kiss and Peter nervously accepted it and the feeling of Diana kissing him was amazing and he fired back with passion. Diana felt taken aback and Peter was red as they let go and looked to see the smirk on her face. "In every sense you are a wonder woman..." Peter couldn't help but whisper as he was sure that he had the air sucked out from his head.
"What an amazing ending to this night and now you really got me hoping that we can schedule another date." Diana replied as they waved goodbye to eachother and she left.
