Hanna starts her new job as a dentist assistant after meeting Sean and asking him if they can talk about possibly going to the dance and he agrees to this, telling her about the club he joined and asking her if she'd be interested in joining as well in the club intended to give students the willpower to refrain from sex out of wedlock. She agrees to it and there she meets Lucas, one of Alison's old victims she always felt sorry for and befriends him sort of during a scene they have to perform together.
While this is happening for Hanna, Emily gets closer to Toby, starting with thanking him for saving her from Ben the other day and asks him to keep the pictures he saw in her book of her and Maya silent.
Aria also has drama with her guy, when Ezra sees a text from A on her phone, implying things about their relationship and he assumes Aria told her friends.
Spencer also seems to catch a break when her father reads about her history paper having won the golden orchid and invites her to play double with him and a business partner and his daughter.
Spencer, happy to be no longer treated like a second-class citizen agrees eagerly and decides to spend most of her day training her tennis abilities in the club her family is at.
"Yeah, yeah cool it or I'll kick your ass." Scott grumbles when someone is rapidly ringing his doorbell.
"Come with me!" Spencer says bossily, standing in his door when he opens it.
"Hello to you too." Scott says sarcastically, letting her inside while going to the kitchen to finish his meal.
"Scott. Don't make me beg. I need to up my tennis game and need your help." Spencer pleads.
"I don't know how to play tennis." Scott replies confused.
"You'll still be better than a wall." She says.
"That's nice. Put that in my yearbook when we graduate, won't you? - Better than a wall." Scott says sarcastically.
"Oh come on. My dad invited me to play double with him and I need to be at 100%." Spencer says.
"Just chill and let me finish my food alright." He says, sitting the hyped girl down in a chair next to him and pours her a glass of water before digging back into his food.
"Seriously why are you coming to me with this?" Scott asks.
"Because the others don't play Tennis either and you're the athletic one of our group." Spencer says.
"Uhm, what about Emily?" He says.
"Oh come on. I need someone with a mean serve not a stamina beast." Spencer says.
"Ahh, fine I guess. Just let me finish this." Scott says, calmly eating his meal.
5 hours later the two of them exit the club after playing a bit of Tennis, despite the court already being supposed to be closed but Spencer sweettalked Sam, a teen who works there and she even ends up inviting him to the dance.
"Seriously what's with this crappy Karma? You end up with a crush on a guy and I end up with a crushed self-esteem and spleen." Scott groans as they are leaving.
"Don't complain. You got a good workout out of this didn't you?" Spencer says, getting in her car with him.
"Sure, I guess." Scott says tiredly.
The next day Spencer and her father are at the club when he asks her to throw the game so his business partner will be more open to close a deal. Spencer goes along with this in a sour mood, which she no longer hides when they are home.
"Dad what was this today. You could have told me beforehand that you want to throw the match. I trained for hours yesterday." Spencer complains.
"Don't make a big deal out of this. I closed the deal, so in the end I won." He tells her.
"It's all about winning with you isn't it? Do you want to know I wrote the prize-winning paper you're so happy about? Half-naked in Scott's room." Spencer tells her father angrily, before going to her room disappointed in her messed up family.
|Two hours later|
"Hey, how did the game go Mr. Hastings?" Scott asks Spencer's father, offering a handshake once the man opens the backdoor with an unreadable expression.
The older man however instead punches him in his face and grabs his collar threateningly.
"Stay away from Spencer." He warns him and shoves Scott away.
Scott is stunned by this and barely notices Spencer coming down at hearing the commotion and starts to argue with her father while he runs off to his house, feeling himself loosing control ever so slowly.
Once at home he sees the bruise already healed, only a bit of dried blood remaining at the corner of his mouth.
He then quickly takes off his shirt and pants before jumping in his bathtub, turning on the shower and concentrating on calming down.
"Scott?" He hears Spencer ask a few minutes later, entering his house.
"Go away!" He tells her but hears her coming up the stairs to in front of his room.
"Scott, let me explain." She says, knocking on his door which he locked.
"Just leave!" He shouts, clutching one arm at feeling himself lose control of his werewolf powers.
"But... let me explain." She says disappointed.
"Just leave. Please." He says, desperation evident in his voice.
"Fine." She agrees annoyedly and leaves.
