I crawled back down into the dirt. Desmond covered the area and said, "Sookie, I'm going now. I'll see you later. I've got to get everything started to for Eric." I should've asked for a watch. After what felt like forever I felt another bond in me wake up. I smiled. Bubba was awake. He crawled out, and started to pace. "Oh please let Ms. Sookie rise. I did everything Ms. Karen said." I didn't have the heart to keep him in suspense. I climbed out. Bubba laughed then whipped me around, "MS SOOKIE! I did it! I saved you Ms. Sookie!" I smiled, "You did Bubba. Let's got to Jason's he's not home, and we can wait for everyone on the porch. Bubba and I ran to the porch. I walked up to the door curious what it felt like not to enter. I did though. I walked right through the front door. excitement bubbled up in me as I ran back outside. Thalia was the first to arrive. I breathed a sigh of relief. She was going to teach me. She took me in, "You smell of the Northman." I said, "Umm..." Eric and I hadn't discussed what we would tell people. Karen arrived next with the witch. Karen took a deep inhale..."I smell Eric." Thalia said, "Oh, I smell the Northman all OVER your mistress." Karen was confused. Bubba said, "Mister Eric isn't here." Thalia said, "No, he's not Bubba. You're right." I said, "Hey Bubba, why don't you go on inside and take a shower?" He said, "Oh thanks Ms. Sookie." I held my breath wondering if my invitation would work. It did! Everyone gaped. The witch made a motion. I said, "Oh, and Bubba. Can you command me to do something? I'm curious what a maker's command feels like."
Bubba turned, "Oh yes, Ummm Ms. Sookie as your maker I command you to find me a cat for dinner." He ran off. I felt nothing take hold like I had with Eric's. The witch nodded. "I'll be leaving." Karen handed her an envelope. I said, "For your time. You have no idea how invaluable you were to me." She nodded. Karen and Thalia turned their stares to me. I closed my eyes. "Eric does this work from this far?" Eric replied, "Evidently." I said, "Thalia and Karen can smell that you were here. We didn't discuss what we would say." Eric laughed, "They will smell that we had sex Sookie. We can't exactly deny we were together. Shower before you head to Mississippi." I opened my eyes. Thalia said, "How do you smell of the Northman?" I said, "Apparently...I can wish people to me." Karen said, "You can conjure? PEOPLE?" I said, "Apparently, yes. I can." Thalia said, "So...he accepts you as his bonded." I said, "We didn't exactly get to that. He can command me. OH I CAN FLY! Wanna see?" Karen said, "Yes!" I thought about flying and took off. I giggled until Thalia said, "Come down." I sighed and came down. Thalia said, "So Bubba cannot command you, but the Northman can." I nodded. Bubba came back down. I ran inside and took a quick shower.
Bubba said, "Ms. Sookie...we should...I don't like Las Vegas, but I do need to tell someone I made you vampire. I did my job. I protected Ms. Sookie." I smiled, "You did. I was thinking...A change of scenery would be nice. What about going to see Russell?" Bubba smiled, "I do love Mr. Russell. Did you get my cat?" I froze. Thalia smirked, "We have a cat for you bubba. Sookie we have blood for you." I took the bag and bit into it. It tasted horrible. I threw it up. Karen said, "Umm..." I said, "I'm not hungry. Let's just get to Russell's. We can figure it out there." Karen said, "I'm staying to make sure nothing happens with Pam. I will see you soon though mistress." I hissed, "No one had better hurt Pam." I felt a wave of calm come over me. I smiled. I sent back gratitude. Eric sent back more calm. Did the man have other emotions? Thalia cleared her throat, "Let's make tracks out of here."
We took off running. We crossed into Mississippi with no problems, and so fast. I laughed when we got there. "We are so fast!" Thalia laughed, "Baby vampires. It's the little things." We walked inside. Thalia said, "Do not speak until spoken to Sookie." I nodded. Everyone was staring. Barlett was here. He actually clapped when we walked in. Bubba said, "Mr. Russell, I saved Ms. Sookie. These werewolves tried to kill her and I saved her." Russell said, "Wow. Bubba...Ms. Stackhouse. Don't you look...like a marvelous vampire?" I looked at Thalia who nodded, "Thank you your majesty." Russell laughed, "Oh that won't do. Call me Russell." I said, "Thank you Russell." Russell said, "So Bubba, Thalia, Sookie. What brings you here?" Thalia said, "Sookie and I are here to pledge fealty to you." Russell was clearly pleased. I heard a thought, "He will be dead as soon as he drinks from this cup. Felipe said this was fool proof." He handed the cup to Russell, "NO DON'T!" I ran froward and knocked the cup out of Russell's hands. As soon as the blood hit the floor a rank smell hit everyone. Russell hissed and grabbed the man who served him. "You would try to kill me?" Bart was enraged. "Sookie, thank you." I said, "You're welcome." Russell sank his fangs into the man and killed him. He tossed his body onto the ground.
"So Sookie. Your telepathy still works." Russell said as he sat back down and wiped his face. I said, "I guess so. That's the first human I've been around since I rose." Russell said, "Well, go ahead. I'd love to have you in my state. Both of you." Thalia knelt down and I copied her. She said, "I swear fealty to King Russell Edginton. I promise and oath on my faith that I will be faithful to the king, and never cause him harm." I repeated her words. Russell clapped, "So, I have a telepath. Should I expect Mr. Northman? We just got word before you got here that he filed to get out of his marriage. Seems DeCastro sent those werewolves to try to kill you Sookie." I said, "Oh...umm...DeCastro sent that human who tried to kill you too." Russell smiled, "We will have to discuss use of your services Ms. Stackhouse." I said, "Well, as a sign of good faith, I'd like to scan your workers. Don't want anyone killing anyone tonight." Russell laughed, "Aren't you something? Yes, I'll have them brought for you to scan." I found four people who needed to go. One was planning to murder Their vampire in their day rest. One was working with the fellowship of the sun, and two others were ticking time bombs for danger.
Thalia led me to my room after Russell assigned them. Thalia said, "You did well tonight. We need to start training. People will come after you." I nodded. "Alright." Thalia observed me, "This is very interesting. I keep waiting for that snark of yours." I sighed, "You know when a child realizes those around them may know better?" Thalia said, "I can't say I have observed that in some time." I said, "Consider this that. Mouthy Sookie would get staked right?" Thalia said, "Probably. Yes." I said, "Well, then. I can't be mouthy until I have a Viking to back me. I'm not going to roll over and do what everyone says, but I don't know enough about the world of supernaturals. I need to lean on others. Leaning on myself just got me in heaps of trouble countless times." Thalia said, "Have a good rest Sookie." She left. As soon as the sun rose I texted Eric, Can I bring you to me? Eric replied, Safe bet. Since the sun is up.
I spoke aloud, "I wish Eric were here." A pop sounded. Eric smiled, "Very good lover." I jumped on him. Hunger overtook me. Eric said, "Drink, Lover." I sank my fangs into him. I moaned. Eric sank his fangs into me. We were naked and in bed before I could comprehend anything else. I flipped on top and sank onto him. He hissed and we rode each other for hours. I was breathing heavily. Eric laughed, "You don't need to do that." I said, "Hey! I just rose..." Eric said, "I know. Can bubba command you?" I shook my head, "No he can't." Eric nodded. I heard you saved Russell tonight." I nodded, "DeCastro was trying to kill him. Can he get greedier? He already has three states." Eric snorted, "He's a vampire." I nodded. "I'm sorry Eric." Eric said, "For what?" I said, "God...I don't know. Messing up all this stuff. I should've trusted you. I always wanted you, and that scared me. Trying to make you be human when you're not human and neither am I." Eric studied me. "Why did you save Sam?" I said, "It was a reaction. He was my friend, and I honestly thought you could get out your marriage another way. When I spoke to Mr. C he explained you couldn't have. I always thought you were choosing her."
Eric hissed, "Why would I choose her? She BOUGHT me! Behind my back! I am Eric Fucking Northman!" I said, "I know. I was hurt, stubborn, and prideful. When you asked me to be your mistress...I was appalled their was a piece of me that longed to say yes. I wasn't raised that way Eric." Eric said, "I did that to piss you off. I didn't think you'd say yes." I said, "Did you mean it? When you said you'd thought about turning me even though I didn't want it?" Eric was quiet then said, "Yes, and I'm pissed I didn't do it. Since we are laying bed together and you're a fucking vampire." Now it was my turn to be quiet. That upset me. That he'd take my choice away like that, but he didn't actually do it. "I'd be lying if I said that didn't piss me off. Cheese and Rice Eric! There's a part of me that wishes you had to. Can we get past everything?" Eric said, "Yes." I snorted, "Just like that. Yes." Eric said, "Just like that. Will we get angry? Yes, but time is on our side. The bond tells us we both have hurt feelings, but we love each other." I said, "You love me?" Eric said, "Do you not feel that from me?" I searched the bond. Tears pricked my eyes, "I always wanted you to love me, I just didn't think you could." Eric said, "I told you when I was cursed how I felt for you." I said, "You didn't have all your memories." Eric said, "That was still me, Sookie. Just the me that didn't have centuries of life experience."
I said, "Heard you filed to get out of your contact." Eric laughed, "Yes. That should be pushed through when I rise. Freyda is already putting together a new contract for me." I blinked and was out of the bed on Eric's side. Eric said, "You can pop. How handy." I said, "Are you going to sign it?" Eric said, "Fuck no. She bought me behind my back. She could've come to me, but she went to my maker. She brought him back into my life. I will not be bought." I said, "Do you have to go back to Louisiana?" Eric said, "I'll be here tomorrow night." I said, "Call me when you get far enough away. I'll wish you outside." Eric said, "Handy." I asked, "Is Pam ok?" Eric said, "Pam is pissed. She should be here tomorrow night as well." I said, "What about her sheriff post?" Eric said, "As her maker, I'm calling her to me. I won't have her in DeCastro's clutches." I said, "How are we acting tomorrow?" Eric smirked, "I'll be aloof, but inform everyone you are my bonded." I said, "So I can't throw my arms around you when I see you?" Eric said, "You should, yes. You have a lot of emotions as a new vampire. Seeing your bonded would drive you into their arms." I said, "Are you going to act mad?" Eric said, "No. Just indifferent." I nodded, "Ok. I can't drink blood...besides yours." Eric stiffened, "We will have to look into that. What happened?" I said, "I threw it up." Eric frowned, "Well, I'll be here soon enough permanently."
I said, "I'm scared." Eric asked, "Of what?" I said, "I don't get the things I want just like that Eric. Something always goes wrong. What if Russell doesn't want you here. I swore fealty to him." Eric laughed, "You are my bonded Sookie. If he doesn't allow me to stay, I'd take you with me when I left. We cannot be apart, and no one can force you from my side. He will ask for proof so I will have to command you." I said, "To do what?" Eric smiled "Trust me Sookie." I said, "I do." Eric said, "I am glad you told me about the blood though because I might have commanded you to feed. So I'm your mate? Am I? My once wife who wouldn't acknowledge our marriage is calling me her bonded and mate now." I sighed, "Ok, yes. BUT you didn't take my humanity in account there. I always dreamed of a proposal and wedding. You didn't even ask. I didn't mean to hurt you by not acknowledging our marriage." Eric said, "You did." I said softly, "I know." I did feel bad. Every time I denied him came back to me. I looked away. "I never meant or set out to hurt you Eric. I was just trying to survive with my heart in tack." Eric seemed to measure my words, "I can't believe you've sat there for this entire conversation. Other than a pop, where you stayed in the room, you remained here." I said, "I grew up after you left Eric. When the person who cleaned up all your messes, some without you knowing, leaves your life... you have to take stalk of everything. You have to talk to me though. No setting me up to do the things I claim to want. Like a normal life, so you pushed me to Sam. DISASTER! The friend zone is called that for a reason."
Eric smirked, "Seems you have a problem with my smirking. You wrote in big bold capital letters I wasn't allowed to smirk." My insides felt like they were on fire. Eric's lust barreled into me from the bond. I sent him mine back. His fangs dropped and he was on me. "I like you using the bond. Every time you accept something I send you...You have no idea how happy it makes me." I said, "Yeah, got over that too. You weren't making me feel a certain way. You could send me emotions. I can send them to you, and I can accept them or not. It's my choice. It was always my choice." Eric's mouth claimed mine. I pulled away, "Jesus Christ Shepherd of Judea I missed you Eric." Eric chuckled, "I missed you too my wife." Unlike when he said it before...No part of me was pissed. I realized the words for what they were. His love.
