Chapter 6
Web of deceit
After Yusei and Emily had finished looking over her deck, it was time for dinner. Martha had convinced Trudge to help her make dinner. As they sat down to eat, they were impressed, aand Trudge just blushed at this.
Half way through eating, all the windows suddenly shattered. Everybody screamed at this.
"What was that?" Asked April.
"Is everyone okay?" Asked Martha.
"We're fine" said Kelsey.
"Look!" Shouted Lily pointing to the outside. Outside was a man dressed in black robes with red markings. They guy then let out an evil chuckle. The wind then blew his hood off to reveal a man who looked to be in his early 30's with white hair and red markings on his face. But the most disturbing part of him was that he had black where is eyes were white.
"Sorry to interrupt your dinner" he said.
"Who are you?" Asked Yusei. Emily then gasped.
"You, you're the man I saw in the vision I had last night" said Emily.
"At last, we meet", the man said. "The little girls who've caused my master so much trouble".
"You didn't answer my question", said Yusei. "Who are you?".
"My name is Roman", answered the man. "And I bare the mark of the spider".
"The mark of the spider" said Emily.
"What are you doing here?" Asked Jack.
"I heard that we had some guest and thought I would say hi", said Roman. "But, we dark signers have only one way of saying hello". He then showed his duel disk.
"Bring it on Bub" said Jack.
"Not here", said Yusei. "We'll all get swallowed up if he summons an immortal. If you wanna duel Roman, follow me".
"Lead the way friend", said Roman. "And bring the pink haired one with you".
"Huh, why me?" Asked Emily.
"Let's say I've heard a lot about you, I just want to see if any of it is true" said Roman.
"I'm coming with you" said Akiza.
"And you are you?", asked Rex. "His girlfriend?". Akiba blushed at this. Yusei lead us to an area of the Satellite that was far away from the house. Yusei, Emily and Roman activated their duel disks and their marks started to glow. And then purple fire surrounded them. As the flames stopped moving, they formed the out line of a spider.
"LET'S DUEL!".

"I'll make the first move", said Yusei drawing the top card of his deck. "I summon Shield Wing in defence mode". A spindly dragon with thick wings appeared on Yusei's field.

"My turn", said Roman drawing the top card of his deck. "I'm activating the Spider Web field spell". The entire area than became covered by spider webs.

"Next, I summon the dark tuner Spider Cocoon", said Roman as a spider with an abdomen made of silk appeared on his field. "And the reason I'm allowed to summon this is that my field is empty and you have 1 monster in play".

"Now, once a turn, Dark spider can harness the power of the shadows in it's web", said Roman. "And can grant that power to an insect monster on my field. Which means Spider Cocoon's level grows in power".

"So, is he gonna summon a level 8 synchro?" Asked Emily.
"Not exactly", said Roman. "I'll show you what I mean by having Spider Cocoon give Dark Spider a tune up". Spider Cocoon then turned into white balls of light and hovered around Dark Spider. As the balls entered Dark Spider, he turned into an orange outline of itself before two of the balls were destroyed along with the outline. The remaining 6 balls then turned dark and began to float and rotate in a circle and a dark portal opened up.
"When the shadows are devoured by even darker shadows, the curtain pulls back and reveals, a world without light", said Roman. "Come forth! Underground Arachnid!". Roman's new monster was a large spider coloured red, black-blue and tan with an insectoid woman with the same colour scheme fused to it's spine.

"W-what is that thing?" Asked Emily a little scared by this.
"That is a Dark Synchro monster", said Yusei. "Unlike regular Synchros, Dark synchros have negative levels. In this case, Underground Arachnid is a negative level six".
"That's just great", said Emily. "At least it can't get past your Shield Wing".
"Who said I had to crawl past anything", said Roman. "I plan to take your Shield Wing for myself. Go! Twine Thread". The spider half of Unground Arachnid spat out thread and tangled up shield wing in it and brought it over to Roman's field.
"Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no" said Emily.
"Does this mean that Shield Wing's on your field now?" Asked Yusei.
"That it is", said Roman. "You see, once a turn, Underground Arachnid can steal one of your monsters and use it as an equip card to gain more power. And now that you have nothing left to protect you, Underground Arachnid can attack!". The human section of Underground Arachnid shot multiple strings of thread at Yusei.
"I activate my trap, Sacrifice's blessing", said Emily. "Now, all I have to do is tribute one monster on my field and that monster's attack points are added to the life points of someone. And I choose Yusei! So I sacrifice my General Angel to give Yusei 1600 life points". Emily's monster then turned into sparkles and they went into Yusei's duel disk.
Yusei: 4000 + 1600 = 5600
The thread then struck Yusei.
Yusei: 5600 - 2400 = 3200
"Thanks Emily" said Yusei.
"No problem" replied Emily.
"You'll regret that", growled Roman. "I place one card face down and end my turn".
"Then it's my move", said Yusei drawing the top card of his deck. "I summon Road Synchron". A little robot with wheels, engines and exhausts appeared on Yusei's field.

So I discard my Quillbolt Hedgehog to special summon Tuningware". Yusei's new monster was a little creature made out of kitchen stuff.

"And since I'm using Tuningware as a synchro material, he can count as a level 2 monster. Now I tune my level 4 Road Synchron with my level 2 Quillbolt Hedgehog and level 2 Tuningware to synchro summon, Road Warrior", said Yusei performing the summon. "Road Warrior! Let's rev it up!". A humanoid wearing yellow, black and gold armour with what appeared to be a piece of road on his back appeared in front of Yusei.

"3000 attack points", said Akiza. "Now that's how we signers do things".
"Since, I used Tuningware to synchro summon just now, I'm allowed to draw one card", said Yusei drawing the top card of his deck. "Now! Road Warrior! Crush his Underground Arachnid! Go! Lightning Claw!". Road Warrior then charged forward with lightning covering it's right claw. It the struck Underground Arachnid and smoke appeared.
Roman: 4000 - 600 = 3400
"YES!" Shouted Emily. But when the smoke cleared,...they saw that Shield Wing had been struck and was destroyed.
"What, but how?" Asked Yusei.
"Underground Arachnid's second special ability", said Roman. "It allows me to destroy one card that's equipped to it and save itself from destruction".
"So what you're saying is that every time it gets equipped with a monster it can use it as a shield?" Asked Emily.
"That's right", said Roman. "And for my field spell's effect. It switches your monster to defence mode and it can't change battle modes until your next turn". Web threads then bound Road Warrior.
"Oh, just great" said Yusei sarcastically.
"If my Underground Arachnid manages to weave it's web past your monster then your field will be empty", said Roman. "And when you take my direct attack, you will be one step closer to dancing the dance of doom".
"Not gonna happen Roman", said Emily drawing the top card of her deck. "I remove my General Angel in my graveyard from play. This allows me to special summon Fairy of Sky Palace". A fairy wearing robes coloured pink and brown appeared on Emily's field.

"Alright, let's get this show on the road. I tune my level 1 Breeze Pixie with my level 2 Magnet Fairy and level 5 Fairy of the Sky Palace! May the darkness rise from the light as it engulfs all in it's elegant beauty", said Emily performing the summon. "I synchro summon! Shindoine the Archfiend Lady!". Emily's new monster was a lavender skinned woman with dark purple hair, black horns, a blue rose tattoo over her left eye, a headband with a heart shaped jewel, a choker around her neck and black finger nails. Her attire consists of dark crimson armour highlighted in gold and black and a black and crimson cape around her waist. On her back was a pair of black feathered wings.

"Next, I activate the spell card, determined stature", said Emily. "While a monster is equipped with this card, it can not have it's stats or modes changed by card effects. So that means our field spell ain't gonna affect my monster. So, I'll place a card face down and end my turn".
"My turn", said Rex drawing the top card of his deck the top card of his deck. "I choose to end my turn without playing a card".
"My move", said Yusei drawing the top card of his deck. "And I think I'll start it by using Road Warrior's ability. Now, I can special summon any level 2 or below warrior or machine type monster from my hand. And I choose, Turbo Booster". Road Warrior then pulled the road section off it's back and launched a ball of light off it. The ball of light then turned into a little legless robot with boosters for hands.

'This one's for you Rally' thought Yusei as he thought of his friend.
"Now, I activate Turbo Booster's ability", said Yusei. "By releasing Turbo Booster, I can pound Underground Arachnid into the dirt. Go! Twin Fists of Fury!". Turbo Booster then launched his fists at Underground Arachnid and destroyed it.
"He did it", said Akiza, who was impressed. "This Dark Signer's got nothing on Yusei or Emily".
"Over there". Akiza then saw two boys. Both of which she remembered seeing from Martha's place.
"It's John and Mitch" said Emily.
"What are they doing here?" Asked Yusei.
"Stay away, don't touch that barrier" warned Akiza.
"It's too late!", shouted Roman. "I activate Altar of the Bound Deity! Now! Once a turn, during my standby phase, this altar gains one Earthbound Immortal counter for every monster on the field in defence mode".
"Oh no" said Emily.
"Oh yes", said Roman. "When all of the torches have been lit, this card allows me to summon one Earthbound Immortal from my deck".
"This Earthbound Immortal wouldn't look like a spider, would it?" Asked Emily.
"It would" answered Roman. Emily gasped as this as she remembered her vision
"THAT'S what my vision was trying to tell me", said Emily. "It was trying to tell me that you were coming".
"Yes", said Roman. "And if I do, it will take the souls of who are touching the barrier".
"You sick man", Emily almost shouted. "If you want us, go ahead, just let John and Mitch go".
"They should've thought of that before they were foolish enough to enter the barrier" said Roman.
"I gotta get them outta there" said Emily. She was about leave when...
"Ah ah ah", said Roman. "You leave the arena, you forfeit the duel. And your soul is mine". Emily only growled.
"Relax Emily", said Yusei. "We got this. You just need to focus".
"It's too late for that", said Roman. "I activate altar of the Bound Deity. Now, my altar gains an Earthbound Immortal counter". A torch on the Altar then lit up.
"Next, I summon Grand Spider in defence mode" said Roman. A spider then appeared on Roman's field.

"Oh great, just perfect" said Yusei.
"Yeah Roman", said Emily. "Is it too much to ask for you to summon a monster with only two legs and two eyes?".
"Like that would make a difference" said Roman placing a card facedown.
"My move", said Yusei drawing the top card of his deck. 'First thing's first. If we get to Roman's standby phase with a field like this, he'll light two more torches and I'll be the the one who gets burned. But even if I am able to summon a monster, this field spell will switch it to defence mode. I can't let that happen. But since Emily's Shindoine is equipped with Determined stature, it can't be switched. So that means one less torch for Roman'.
"I activate Road Warrior's ability", said Yusei. "This monster let's me special summon any level two or below monster from my deck. So long as that monster is either a machine or a warrior. So I summon Speed Warrior" a grey armoured human with a pilot gas mask appeared on Yusei's field.

"That won't work", said Roman. "For you see, when Grand Spider is in defence mode, it's special ability let's me switch one of your monsters to defence mode, so back off Speed Warrior". Grand Spider then encased Speed Warrior in spider threads.
"I activate Shindoine's ability", said Emily. "Once per turn, I can send one card from my hand to the graveyard, add the same type of card from my deck to my hand. So I return Pixiquin from my hand to my deck to add a monster to my hand. And the monster I added was Lilipixi. And when this card is added to my hand by a card effect, I can summon her automatically". On Emily's field was a pixie with black hair and a moss green dress holding a lillipad like an umbrella.

"And since I'm summon her after your spider's effect activated, she's safe from it" said Emily.
"Nice play" said Yusei.
"And here's another one", said Emily. "I activate Soul Energy Generator trap card. Now, by tributing a monster, I can increase a player's life points equal to the level of that monster times 300. So by tributing Shindoine, I can increase Yusei's life points by 2400" Shindoine turned into sparkles and the sparkles went into Yusei.

"Thanks for the boost Emily", thanked Yusei. I activate Advanced Draw. Now, buy tributing my Road Warrior, I can draw two cards from my deck. So, that means one less torch for you". As Road Warrior disappeared, Yusei drew two cards from his deck.
"Ha, what a waste", mocked Roman. "You must be truely desperate if you throw away your best card like that".
"If you think Road Warrior's my best card, think again", said Yusei. "Say hello to Turret Warrior. Speed Warrior vanished and a robot made out of a castle's parts appeared.

"I can special summon him from my hand if I tribute a warrior-type monster", said Yusei. "And that's not all, all the attack points my Speed Warrior had, get added to him".

'Lucky for Yusei, Turret Warrior won't be switched to defence this turn' thought Akiza.
"Looks there's no big bad Spider for you", said Emily. "Kick his butt Yusei.
"You got it", said Yusei. "Turret Warrior, attack Grand Spider". Turret Warrior's turrets then fired lasers at Grand Spider and destroyed it.
"Nice move, but did you forget about my field spell?", asked Roman. "The binds might only last for a couple of rounds, but it'll be long enough to be one step closer to defeat". Threads then forced Turret warrior into defence mode.
"We'll see", said Yusei. "I end my turn with a facedown".
'It's Emily's turn now', thought Akiza. 'I just hope she knows what she's doing'.
"My move", said Emily drawing the top card of her deck. "I summon Sugar Fairy!". A fairy carrying a table spoon of sugar appeared on Emily's field.

"Next, I tune my level 3 Lillipixie with my level 3 Sugar Fairy", said Emily performing the summon. "When the fiery gates of darkness open, unleash the fire that burns victims to the soul! I synchro summon! Benigyo the Archfiend Princess!". Benigyo then appeared on Emily's field.
"And now, since I successfully special summoned, I can special summon the Tourist Fairy from my hand" said Emily. A fairy dressed like stereotypical tourist appeared on Emily's field.

"Next, I play the spell card friendship of dark and light", said Emily. "Thanks to this spell card, if I control a light attribute and a dark attribute monster, I can summon a monster that is the same attribute as the monster on my field with the least attack points, only downside is that it's special abilities are negated. So I summon Athlete Fairy". A female fairy dressed like a basketball player appeared on Emily's field.

'What's she up to?' Thought Yusei.
"I tune my level 1 Athlete Fairy with my level 2 Tourist Fairy and level 6 Benigyo the Archfiend Princess", said Emily performing the summon. "When all the gates of darkness have opened, the fiery deity shows herself to obliterate all those who she seeks to ruin. I synchro summon! Benigyo the Archfiend Empress!". Emily's new monster looked like Benigyo, but she was more armoured, had longer hair, a larger horns, three smaller horns, completely red eyes, a tail, a pair of pink wins, tattoos on her eyes and linger nails.

"Just be patient Yusei", said Emily. "For now, I end my turn".
"Huh" said Yusei.
'If I wait until he summons his Earthbound Immortal', thought Emily. 'Then I'll be able to activate Benigyo's ability. So I just have to send one card from my hand to the graveyard and then, I'll be able to destroy the same type of card on the field'.
"Hey!" Shouted a voice. Emily and Yusei looked up to see Trudge and Martha at the top of a building holding another child.
"It's Martha", said Emily. "And Trudge and Taka".
"What are you guys doing here?" Asked Yusei.
"We came to collect the boys" said Martha.
"Well hurry up!", shouted Emily. "If Roman summons his Earthbound Immortal, then their souls are going to be sucked out of their bodies!".
"It's too late for that!", shouted Roman drawing the top card of his deck. "I activate offerings to the bound deity! Now, all I have to do is cut my life points in half and I can light two more torches".
"Oh no" said Yusei.
"Now all the torches are lit" said Emily. A large heart appeared in the sky and began to beat. Lights then started to come out of the flames and began to be absorbed into the heart. But, just before John and Mitch could be absorbed Jack arrived and protected them by using his signer mark to create a forcefield. On top of the building, Martha lost her footing and fell off.
"Emily! Yusei!", shouted Martha. "Do not loose to these guys!" She then turned into a ball of light and disappeared into the heart.
"MARTHA!" Yusei and the others shout. Roman just laughs at this.
"Don't worry", said Roman. "Her soul won't go to waste. I SUMMON EARTHBOUND IMMORTAL URU!".
As soon as he placed the card on the monster tray of his duel disk, a large black and glowing red spider appeared behind him.

"That's Uru!" Shouted Emily.
"It's nice that you finally said hello", said Roman. "Aren't going to say hello as well Yusei? Aren't you going to say hello as well? After all, it's practically family".
"What do you mean family?" Asked Yusei.
"Didn't those guys in security tell you?", asked Roman. "When the EnerD reactor exploded, it opened a portal to the netherworld, and these guys came out!".
"How do you know about EnerD?", asked Yusei. "All the other people, including my father, were killed when it exploded".
"Your father was my boss", said Roman. "I work under him, along with my brother Rex". Everyone gasped at this.
"Rex is your brother?!" Shouted Emily.
"That I am", said Roman. "Yusei's father along with me and Rex were working on alternative energy sources for New Domino to use".
"So Yusei's father wanted to help people?" Asked Emily.
"Help his bank account you mean", corrected Roman. "He didn't even care about the safeguards. 'Let's see how much it can take' he said. Well, it took a lot, from everyone!". Yusei was taking this all in, but he was starting to believe it.
"That's a lie!", shouted Emily. "I know that Yusei doesn't have one bad bone in his body! If anything, I'd say it was your doing, not his!".
"Believe what you want", said Roman. "But when this is over, you'll be joining your friends in the netherworld".
"Then I guess, I'll have to finish this!", shouted Yusei drawing the top card of his deck. "I summon Junk Synchron!". A warrior made out of junk appeared on Yusei's field.

"Now for Junk Synchron's ability", said Yusei. "I am now allowed to bring a level 2 or below monster back from my graveyard by negating it's special abilities. So, I summon Turbo Booster!". Yusei's monster then reappeared.
"Next, I tune my level 3 Junk Synchron with my level 5 Turret Warrior", said Yusei performing the summon. "I synchro summon! Stardust Dragon!". Yusei's signature monster then appeared on his field.

Emily's eyes sparkled at this sight.
"Oh my gosh! It's here! It's Stardust Dragon!" Shouted Emily excitedly.
"As much I love this moment, you seem to forget something", said Roman. "My Earthbound Immortal is immune to any traps, spells and monster attacks you throw it's way. Even if you could, your dragon is far too weak to defeat Uru!". Yusei only smirked.
"Is that so?", he asked. "Well, if Uru is out of bounds, then that leaves only one Target, YOU! Go Stardust Dragon! Attack with Cosmic Flare!". Yusei's dragon then fired a stream of stardust at Roman.
"Not so fast!", shouted Roman. "I activate Spider Egg! Not only is your attack negated, but I can summon three Spider Tokens in defence mode". The stream disappeared and three creepy looking spiders appeared on Roman's field.

"My move", said Emily drawing the top card of her deck. 'If I attack now, Roman's life points will go down to zero and we'll win'.
'It all comes down to this' thought Yusei.
"Benigyo!", shouted Emily. "Attack-". She was interrupted by Roman laughing.
"What are you laughing at?" Asked Yusei.
"Oh, just this" said Roman. Roman then glowed purple and he was replaced by a boy with red hair. This shocked Yusei.
"RALLY!" He shouted.
"Miss your friend?", asked Roman's voice. "I freed his spirit so he could duel you in my place. But don't worry, either win or loose, he goes to the netherworld".
"You can't!", shouted. "I won't duel my friend!".
"You have to!", shouted Rally. "Me, Tank and the others are all trapped. We need you! Emily please attack!". Emily just stood there.
"I...end my turn" she said.
"Emily" whispered Yusei.
Rally then drew the top card of his deck. "I activate Uru's ability. Now, by tributing a monster on my field, I can gain control of one of your monsters. So I choose Turbo Booster!" One of the tokens disappeared and Uru used it's thread to take control Turbo Booster.
"Now I summon Turbo Rocket!" Shouted Rally. A red rocket robot appeared on Rally's field.

"Rally, don't do this!", shouted Emily. "We can find another way!".
"I know you guys would much rather get sent to the netherworld then duel me guys", said Rally performing a synchro summon. "I tune my Turbo Rocket with my Turbo booster to summon Turbo Booster Cannon!". A new tiny cannon robot appeared on Rally's field.

"Oh don't worry", said a voice. "You'll meet them very soon". Everyone looked up to see Roman and four other people wearing similar out fits but in different highlights. One orange, one blue, one yellow and one green.
"Are those?" Asked Emily.
"Yes, the Dark Signers" replied Yusei.
