As she walked on stage, Coaxed by Luka and the Band she couldn't help the sudden nerves floating in her stomach. She tightly grabbed onto the boutineer that matched her dress. Suddenly Luka started playing the opening riff to the first song she had chosen. She had only a moment to register that she was on stage, getting ready to sing for her whole class, when the first words came up and she got swept up in the music. Her stagefright hadn't even kicked in by the second song, She smiled and sang as her friends cheered her on. By the third song she was dancing on the stage belting out her favorite of the songs, and she was having so much fun, her friends were dancing, and she was doing great. Out of the corner of her eye she had noticed someone with their phone up recording her. Probably Alya to show her later, she couldnt see properly with the stage lights hitting her. But whoever it was it didn't matter. Not in this perfect moment.
The set finished and the Dj took over again, keeping up the energy from their performance. Marinette was flushed with excitement. Mia looked up and smiled at her when they got backstage.
"You were so great. Now I have to finish the set with you otherwise I'll be out of a gig." the redhead said joking. Marinette already knew she liked this girl.
"Thanks, that was actually really fun" she said in excitement. "Are you feeling better Mia?"
the girl nodded but pointed to her ruined makeup "Yes but I don't know how im going to deal with these racoon eyes"
Marinette smiled and grabbed her new friend and dragged her out from backstage towards the bathrooms. Immediately they were swarmed by Marinette's friends who all wanted to know how she went from shy clumsy girl to the girl on stage. When she carefully explained the situation every girl pulled out their tiny makeup bags and together they helped Mia to the bathrooms to fix her makeup and get her ready again. The girl power was strong as they helped and touched up everyones hair and makeup. Alya found a moment to pull Marinette into a corner in her usual style.
"So? Girl spill, I saw you slow dancing with Luka, and then suddenly you're on stage with him?!"
Her friend was definitely a journalist at heart. Asking all the right questions. Marinette just shook her head "I don't know what happened, it was just kinda a whirlwind and I'm not even sure what happened, I still don't feel like its real"
"Oh don't worry girl, it was real" said Alya holding up her phone with the video of Marinette's set.
Marinette turned the same shade of red as her dress. But she didn't have the time to dwell on her embarrassment. The boys in the band were knocking on the door letting the girls know it was almost time to get back on stage. Mia grabbed Marinette's hand and led the band back backstage.
"We need an epic song to kickstart this duo" the redhead pointed back and forth between herself and Marinette "some real girl power"
The boys of the band pretended to groan but they were all completely on board for every song Mia threw at them, even the ones Marinette offered. Spice girls, Britney Spears, Fleetwood Mac, Zaz, every song written down and debated. Finally the perfect playlist emerged just as their time was up. As they headed to the stage Luka held her back for a second.
"Marinette, I really want to thank you for doing this for us" Luka said almost shyly, searching her face for something.
"A-a-anytime Luka" Marinette said, nearly tripping, she had stopped with one foot on the stage and the other still on the floor.
Luka smiled and helped her get up on the stage when a small bit of red fell from her pocket. Marinette was so scared for a second that it was Tikki that she forgot it was only the boutineer she had made to match her dress. Luka caught it swiftly and offered it back to Marinette, who very uncharacteristically pinned it to his chest. It was Lukas turn to blush the same red as her dress as Marinette turned back to the stage next to Mia.
This time it was the drummer, Jean, who got to start the set with his steady rhythms doling out the first beats. Before Marinette could start the first chorus however, the doors in the back opened, and in walked a boy clad all in black with gorgeous blonde hair. Marinette could feel herself clamming up. She took a step back and right into Luka who nudged her forward and played harder for her.
The lights obscured the boy from her vision and Mia nodded to her new stage partner and grabbed her mic.
