The Heartlands, New Hanover
12:00 PM
The group trotted along slowly, approaching Twin Stack Pass. Clive was in the lead, casually smoking a cigar, Fallen Sky slightly behind him, cleansing the wounds on his knuckles with a small bottle of alcohol. Hugo and Kelso were riding alongside each other a little distance behind Fallen Sky. Hugo was shivering from the cold breeze and Kelso was holding his head with his right hand, his left keeping a tight grip on his horse's reins. Clive noticed a wagon nearby that didn't seem to be moving, so the four moved in to investigate. On closer inspection, they saw that the driver had been executed and two men who appeared to be brothers were moving towards the wagon, one holding a Carbine Repeater and the other holding a Cattleman Revolver. Clive turned to the rest of the group and said, "Fallen, Hugo, Kelso, get up on that ridge there, make sure you got a good view of them." Fallen Sky nodded and led the group up the ridge. They all positioned themselves with Carcano rifles along the ridge, keeping a view on the two brothers. Clive stripped off all his riches and good-quality items, placing them all on his horse, and swapped his expensive coat for a simple leather jacket. He patted his horse on the head and told it to go, then walked up to the wagon robbers with his hands up.
One of them noticed him and quickly spun around to face him. "What the hell do you want, old man?" he spat. Clive responded with "I don't want no trouble, I'm only passin' through." He slowly got closer with his hands up, and the rifle-holding brother told him "Give us all you got, now!" Clive got closer to the revolver-wielding brother, standing about 5 centimetres from him. The man grabbed Clive's cigar from his mouth and threw it on the ground. Clive looked down at the ashes of the cigar and his eyes narrowed. He reached his left hand into his satchel and pulled out a steel hunting knife. He plunged the knife into the man's intestines and grabbed his revolver from his hip, then shot through his stomach, hitting the other brother through the head. He holstered the revolver and pulled the knife out of the man's abdomen, leaving him to bleed out on the ground. He whistled for the gang and his horse. "Kelso, Hugo, bury this poor soul. Fallen, get that lockbox open, see what you can find" he told his gang. He walked over to his horse and took all his expensive items from his horse, putting them all back onto himself. He looked down at the bloodstained sand and smiled briefly. He hopped into the driver's seat of the wagon, Kelso and Hugo jumping onto the back. Fallen settled himself into the passenger seat and grabbed his Litchfield Repeater. Clive reached back into his satchel and pulled out a second cigar, which he lit with the lantern on the side of the wagon. The gang whistled for their horses to follow them and rode off towards their destination, Rhodes.
