22nd of November 1945 – En-route between New York City and Baltimore

"You'll be fine" Scully said placing a hand on Mulder's knee which was bouncing up and down nervously as he drove towards Baltimore.

"I'm not so sure, from what you've told me your older brother doesn't tend to take kindly to the men in yours or Melissa's lives" Mulder replied nervously.

"That's true he hasn't, but his wife Tara will have told him to be on his best behaviour, and he won't do anything in front of the family" Scully said reassuringly, this was the first time Mulder would meet Bill, as although he had returned to the States around the same time as Charlie, he went to Jacksonville Florida, where his wife and seven month old son, Matthew, had been staying with Tara's parents while he was deployed.

"I hope so, I know I wouldn't have taken to kindly to any guy Samantha may have brought home" Mulder replied

"I can imagine, but look on the bright side, at least you've already met everyone else before, unlike the girl Charlie's bringing, so everyone will be focused on her and Matthew" Scully said lacing their fingers together.

An hour later the couple pulled into the driveway of Maggie Scully's house and hopped out of the car, carrying a pumpkin pie for dessert to the front door. Knocking lightly Scully waited patiently as she heard the sound of voices and footsteps inside. Resting a hand lightly on Mulder's arm to stop him fidgeting right before the door opened to reveal Maggie smiling brightly.

"I've missed you" Maggie said pulling Scully into her arms hugging her fiercely, before greeting Mulder.

"Come in, I'll take the pie for you and put it in the kitchen. Your younger brother and his girlfriend, along with Melissa are in the living room. Bill and Tara should be here shortly too" Maggie added holding the door open.

"Thank you" Scully replied handing her mother the pie and walking into the living room, her eyes immediately zeroing in on the young beautiful brunette sitting next to her brother.

"Hey, just in time" Missy said getting up to greet her sister and Mulder, before Charlie got up to do the same.

"Dana Mulder I'd like you to meet Michelle" Charlie said wrapping his arm around the woman.

"It's nice to finally meet you two, Charlie's talked about you a lot" Michelle commented smiling and holding out her hand.

"It's lovely to meet you too" Scully replied shaking her hand, she instantly liked the younger woman.

"It's nice to meet you two. It's good to have another non-Scully around here" Mulder said smiling.

"Well then now the greetings are out of the way, how about we start on the wine" Melissa proposed grabbing a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from the kitchen and six wine glasses.

It was another 30 minutes before they heard a knock at the front door and Maggie who had just checked on the turkey in the oven, quickly made her way to the front door.

Scully felt Mulder tense next to her on the couch at the sound of Maggie greeting Tara and Bill, before the voices grew louder and the quartet arrived in the living room door way.

"It's so good to see you" Scully said jumping up from the couch and hugging her brother and sister in law. The next few minutes were a flurry of activity as the siblings all greeted each other, Michelle and Mulder sharing a look to convey the awkwardness they felt at not knowing what to do in the moment.

"Look at you, you're adorable" Scully said lifting Matthew into her arms and smiling softly at the baby, before turning to Mulder and beckoning him over.

"Tara and Bill, this is my boyfriend Fox Mulder" Scully introduced running a hand down Mulder's arm.

"How are you? It's good to meet you" Mulder said shaking Tara's hand before turning to Bill and doing the same. Mulder winced slightly at how hard Bill was deliberately gripping his hand.

"We're good it was a long drive up from Jacksonville, but we're very glad to be here. It's so nice to be able to put a face to the name" Tara replied cheerfully, before nudging her husband when he remained silent and saying "isn't it honey".

"Yes it's nice to meet you" Bill said with a forced smile.

After the group ate their thanksgiving meal, the women retreated to the living room giggling with another bottle of wine, while the men offered to begin cleaning up.

Mulder started packing leftovers into containers, chatting to Charlie who was placing all the rubbish in a trash bag. Mulder braced himself as he felt Bill move next to him when Charlie took the trash out.

"I've looked you up, and I know your type. My sister is not some plaything for a rich boy, and if you hurt her, I will personally track you down and beat you to a pulp" Bill said careful not to be loud enough to be overheard by anyone.

"I love your sister Bill, I don't want to hurt her" Mulder replied honestly.

"Good, let's keep it that way. Consider yourself warned" Bill said quickly moving back to the sink we're he had been washing up the dishes, when Charlie walked back in through the door.

"Hey, what's going on?" Charlie asked noticing the tense atmosphere.

"Nothing" Bill replied gruffly.

"Nothing" Mulder added when Charlie looked at him questioningly.

"Okay, well there's not too much left to do here. I reckon once we get the last few dishes in the fridge and clean the last of those cups, we can go sit with the ladies, hopefully there will still be some wine left" Charlie said diplomatically.

Fifteen minutes later, with all the leftovers in the fridge, and the crockery/cutlery washed up the three men headed into the living room. Mulder smiled at the sight of Scully with Matthew in her lap, and a toy in her hand, which the baby was starting at transfixed.

"Hey" he said as he sat down next to her and kissed the top of her head.

"Hey" Scully replied with a warm smile, "all done?"

"Yep, all taken care of" Mulder said wrapping an arm around her waist and smiling at Matthew, before making a silly face, causing the baby to giggle.

It was a few hours later when Mulder and Scully had finally checked into a nearby motel. As a group they had decided Mulder and Scully would stay in a motel for the night, while Bill, Tara and Matthew would take Charlie and Bill's old room, and Charlie would sleep in Dana's bed.

"I think today was successful, Bill seemed to behave himself" Scully said lying on her side on the bed, Mulder behind her, with an arm slung over her.

"Me too, yeah for the most part" Mulder replied in agreement.

"What did he say?" Scully asked turning around in his arms to look at him.

"He just told me not to hurt you or I'd be sorry" Mulder replied sugar coating the exact words Bill had used.

"What?! Of course he couldn't keep his mouth shut" Scully said with a huff.

"It's okay. He didn't say anything I wouldn't have said to any guy Sam would've dated" Mulder replied reassuringly.

"I'm sure Sam would've liked it about as much as I do" Scully said still a little annoyed at her elder brother.

"You're probably right" Mulder replied chuckling, and pulling her into an embrace.

"I love you" Scully mumbled into his chest.

"I love you too" Mulder replied kissing the top of her head.
