Izayoi's POV
I rode on Inori while Moroha, Towa, and Setsuna were traveling on a bike below me. Moroha was supposed to be a look out but she was listening to music instead. Towa said something to my cousin in annoyance. Moroha heard Towa and after a brief exchange of dialogue my cousin decided to stick her butt in front of my niece.
"She's definitely Uncle Inuyasha's daughter" I told Inori with a sweat drop.
Inori responded with a deep meow as though she agreed with me.
Suddenly a little girl appeared ahead of the others and Towa activated the brakes. The bike passed the girl however my cousin and niece's weren't so lucky. Moroha and Towa screamed before the bike hit a tree and soon the three of them went flying into the air and they landed somewhere nearby with a thud which then created a pile of dust from the impact.
A Few Minutes Later
The little girl who was nearly ran over greedily ate the Pocky sticks Towa gave her. Apparently her parents where ignoring her. I frowned at that because something didn't seem right. Inori was in my arms and when the girl finished the Pocky, Moroha gave her a bag of cookies. The girl thanked my cousin before opening the bag and scarfed down the cookies.
"Hey heard anything about people going missing near an old temple in a mountain pass?" Moroha asked the girl. "No one comes down from the pass and whoever goes up there doesn't come back"
"I don't know about people missing but my village is at the foot of a mountain pass" the girl replied.
"We should check it out" Towa suggested. "It's on the way"
"Something doesn't smell right" I added.
After she finished eating the little girl took us to her village. Upon arriving there were a lot of cats everywhere. The villagers were very interactive with the felines. The girl saw her mother who was holding a cat. The mother shot her daughter a disgusted look before walking off. The girl followed her mother wondering why she was being ignored.
"I smell demon activity here" I growled.
A cat had come up to Towa and demanded attention. My niece bent down and she began to pet it until the feline suddenly hissed. It's eyes went red and Moroha gave the cat a kick.
"Oh crap now I scent the demon activity" Towa stated before drawing out her Kikujumonji. Moroha drew out her blade while Setsuna readied hers. Ahead the demon cats were growling in anger and they decided to charge.
Inori leapt out of my arms and changed to her larger form. She roared a challenge at the cats who were charging at us. They immediately turned around and fled while other demon cats got attacked by my niece's and cousin. One feline almost tried to bite me but Inori killed it before I was harmed. Moroha finished things off with a Crimson Dragon Wave. The surviving felines ran off leaving behind the dead ones.
The villagers were beginning to wake up from being under the damn demon cat's influence. The little girl was sharing a hug with her mother. Setsuna stroked Inori and the female cat demon purred before returning back to her small form.
Before leaving the village the girl from before thanked us. At least she was safe along with the other residents. By the time we found the temple in question the sun was setting.
"Wow Mr. Jyubei wasn't kidding it is a old temple" Towa pointed out.
"The place also looks suspicious" Moroha added.
"There's no demon energy so far" Setsuna finished.
She was right for the moment their wasn't any demonic aura or energy.
"Do you have some business at this temple?" someone inquired.
The doors opened and a monk came out.
"That's Julian!" Towa suddenly exclaimed.
"Who is Julian?" Moroha, Setsuna, and I asked.
"Good evening ladies you can call me Juan" the monk greeted.
Towa turned to us and pointed at Juan.
Towa explained the monk strongly resembled someone that Mei idolized. The whole thing was amusing and Juan invited us inside. We explained to him about the demon cats however the monk only heard of it until now.
"Have you seen anything strange as of late?" Setsuna questioned the monk.
"Such as?"
"A lot of people have been going missing through this mountain pass" Towa explained. "We're here to investigate"
"There have been people who'd stayed here for the night but nothing out of the ordinary" Juan continued. "You four are welcome to stay the night here as well, the mountain pass can be dangerous at night fall"
"Yeah we'll take up your offer" Moroha immediately answered.
My niece's agreed while I nodded.
Juan told us to make ourselves at home before excusing himself. He returned a few minutes later with things to use as bedding before taking his leave again.
"This temple smells of demons" I said once I felt it was okay to announce.
"Hey I was wondering something, I keep hearing this voice in my mind" Towa voiced in.
Setsuna immediately replied.
"That would be your inner dragon speaking" she explained. "All dragon shifters even hybrids like ourselves have a dragon half, she was probably dormant when you were in the modern world, in time you'll get used to her"
Towa laughed nervously.
"I guess so, have you transformed Setsuna?"
Setsuna nodded before continuing.
"You'll know when the time is right to shift from human to dragon"
Moroha was listening to the Ipod and she was listening to one of Julian's songs.
"Meh not my taste in music" my cousin muttered removing the earphone from her ear.
She then got a mischievous grin on her face and tried to sneak the earphone onto Setsuna but my niece slapped it away and Towa caught the device in her hands. Moroha sighed before standing up and grabbed her sword before setting up her bedding.
Getting the idea Towa and I did the same. Setsuna couldn't exactly sleep since her dreams were stolen from her. The idea was to pretend to sleep until the demon cats emerged. Inori was sleeping in Setsuna's lap but she would awaken at the first sign of trouble.
Some time passed before the demon cats made themselves known. Immediately all of us got up ready to fight and Inori woke and transformed into her larger state. I used Grey Wind to take care of some of the damn felines while the others did the same with their weapons. Inori used her massive canines to kill some herself.
Once things settled did Juan opened the door wondering what was going on. Apparently he never noticed the felines from hell which I didn't buy. He did explain however a powerful priest sealed away a demon and it's corpse was underneath the floors of the temple.
"We should investigate this theory we might find something" I suggested to the group.
"Yeah I agree" Setsuna agreed.
The four of us along with Inori went outside. We found the spot in question but it was damn dark. Well only for Moroha and Towa. I could see fine as could Setsuna due to our genetics. Towa took out a flashlight and let Moroha have it.
Towa then headed inside while I remained outside with Moroha and Setsuna.
"Gah I can't see squat" Moroha complained as the three of us looked for the supposed remains of the demon.
No sooner had she said that did a hole appear. When we got closer Moroha shined the flashlight into the hole and there were the skeletal remains of what was a large demon cat. I suddenly growled when the bones moved and they formed into one and then a bright light nearly blinded us.
We hurriedly escaped from underneath the temple and Inori was growling as the feline skeleton stood in front of her. It glowed again before it faded away. A white demon cat looked ready to battle and we all separated. Moroha jumped into the air and unleashed her Crimson Dragon Wave. Her attack hit the demon cat right on the mark and Setsuna used her Cyclone Burst. I joined in by releasing my Double Twister which was the attack I used against Root Head.
Both winds attacks seemed to finish the demon cat off but to our horror the demon feline was flesh and bone again.
Towa's POV
I sensed the others were in trouble so I ran to the doors.
"Do you think their okay?" Juan asked.
Our comrades will be fine my dragon reassured me.
Man it would take awhile for me to get used to her voice.
Suddenly my other half warned me that I was in danger and I turned around. Juan was glowing a pink demonic aura and his eyes were red.
Immediately I took out Kikujumonji. I was trapped in this room thanks to the barrier that was set up. I knew I was on my own but I wasn't alone because my inner dragon was with me. Within my mind my other half chuckled.
Some demon cats attacked and I swiped at them with my blade. Suddenly I heard Juan and for a moment he took control of his body begging me to help him. The barrier behind me suddenly flashed and the sutras disappeared. Setsuna opened the door and pointed her weapon at our opponent.
"So you possessed the monk" my twin addressed the demon in question.
There is a way to spare the monk my dragon said getting my attention.
What would that be? I wondered.
Juan's right arm transformed into fur and claws formed. He made an attempt to attack me and Setsuna but we dodged the attempt.
Your blade can take away the demon energy from Juan my dragon explained. You must hurry!
I felt the silver pearl within my eye glow as I approached Juan. I dodged another attack from him and held out my Kikujumonji. It came to life and electric blue bonds held Juan in place. I then charged forward and thrust my light blade into Juan and the demon within him shrieked.
My blade was indeed taken the demon energy from Juan as my dragon half said!
The Silver Pearl within my glowed even brighter and eventually the energy was sealed into my sword.
Izayoi's POV
The demon cat in front of us suddenly stopped and it's skin became bones.
"Looks like Towa did it" I informed Moroha.
"Thank god I was getting tired of not taking that damn thing down" Moroha complained.
I chuckled at my cousin before making sure my niece's were okay as well as Juan.
Next Day.
Inori landed on the outskirts of my father's castle. Inori reverted to her small form and I picked her up into my arms before heading to my childhood home. No sooner had I stepped inside was Jaken running towards me in excitement.
"Lady Izayoi!" my father's vassal exclaimed before falling flat on his face.
"Hello Jaken it's been awhile" I greeted.
The imp demon got back to his feet and apologized for being clumsy.
"Relax Jaken" my father's voice said.
"Yes milord" Jaken complied as Dad approached. When my father was in front of me did Jaken excuse himself. Once gone did my Dad smile.
"I was wondering when I would see you Little Moon"
That was my nickname that only he used.
"I've been busy" I confessed. "It's good to see you Dad"
"And I take it the others are well?"
He was referring to Moroha, Towa, and Setsuna.
"Their fine, is Mom around?"
I looked around but didn't feel her presence.
"She's visiting her family back in her world for a few days" Dad answered.
"She won't be gone for too long she doesn't like being away from you" I teased.
Dad chuckled before he pulled me into a hug and I happily returned it.
