Anticipation

Olivia had woken up earlier than she planned the next morning. All the events of last night came flooding back to her the second she opened her eyes. Elliot's lips and hands on her body. His scent, and the feel of his tongue in her mouth was making her ache. She rolled her eyes internally at herself. She knew she was in deep, but showing all her cards was never really her style. Even with Elliot, the one person who knew her better than anyone. Ok she though, coffee. I need coffee.

She sat up and swung her legs over the edge of the bed. She looked down at her dress she left on the floor. It sent a shiver up her spine, and she smiled. She picked it up brought it to her face. She breathed in the fabric and found it still smelled like him. She held it for a second and then took a deep breath and got up, throwing it in her laundry basket. She threw on some old cotton shorts, a camisole, and her silk robe. She grabbed her phone to check for any missed messages or calls.

There were two messages. One from Lucy saying she forgot to mention Noah convinced her to take him to the Natural History Museum and she was coming by this morning to pick him up. The second was from Elliot.

Good morning beautiful

She felt her cheeks flush and she couldn't stop the smile from spreading across her face. It had been a long time since anyone had called her that. If she was really being honest with herself, it had been a long time since she felt this way. Ten years to be exact.

She was never very good at accepting compliments of any kind, really, from anyone. Over their years together Elliot would give her compliments in his own way. Subtle looks, a coy smirk, the lift of an eyebrow. She could count on one had the number of times he verbally complimented her, and it was always an intense feeling. It was one of their unspoken rules. Compliments could become too deep. Things could get… complicated. But now…

Her thoughts were distracted when she heard Noah turn the tv on in the living room and digging through the cabinet for cereal. She went to the bathroom and washed her face and brushed her teeth. Then she heard a knock on the door.

"MOM!" Noah yelled. She walked out of her bedroom as Noah ran past her.

"Hey slow down!" she laughed.

"It's probably Lucy Mom, did she tell you? She's gonna take me to the Natural History Museum today! I gotta get my backpack." He said in such a rush.

Olivia laughed. "Yes, yes she told me." She said as she made her way to the door. She opened the door and Lucy was there.

"Sorry it's so early. The only way I could get him to go to sleep was promising him we'd finally go today." Lucy said as she came in. She then eyed Liv with a smile.

"So, you had fun last night?" she said her smile getting bigger. "The wedding I mean…" she said and let out a little laugh.

Olivia rolled her eyes and smiled at Lucy. "Yes…" she said, "I had a very good time…" and she looked down at the floor, trying desperately to not let all of her emotions show on her face when she looked back up. Just then Noah came running in and hugged Olivia.

"Bye Mom, I love you!" Noah said.

"Hey, you behave and listen to Lucy. I'll see you later ok. I love you." She said, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

"I will, I promise!" he said his eyes wide and excited.

"Here let me give you some money for today." She said to Lucy looking for her wristlet. She looked around and couldn't seem to find it. Did she leave it at the wedding? She looked up at Lucy.

"Sorry, I must have miss placed it. I'll just Venmo you."

"Come on! We have to go!" Noah said, his impatience getting the better of him.

"Ok Noah," Lucy said laughing, "Don't worry about it Liv. We'll see you later."

"Bye Mom!"

"Bye guys." She said shutting the door.

She stood there retracing her memory. Her mind went to the street last night. Their first kiss. The heated way his lips crushed hers, taking her breath and her heart. She touched her lips, remembering the feeling, as goosebumps spread across her skin making her ache and her nipples harden. The she remembered Elliot putting his jacket on her.

His jacket.

She left it in his jacket pocket.

Just as she was about to grab her phone to call him, she heard a knock at her door.

"What did you forget Noah?" she said walking back to the door and opening it.

What met her was not her son's eyes, but Elliot's sparkling blue ones. He took her breath away. How does he always seem to do that she thought? He smiled at her, and then his eyes roamed over her body. He cleared his throat.

"Good morning…" he said, "Thought maybe you could use some coffee." He held out a cup for her, taking a sip of his own.

"Thanks…" she said, opening the door wider for him to come in. He could always anticipate what she needed. Always so in sync… She heard Kathy's words in her head. She took the coffee and her hand lingered on his for a few seconds before she brought the cup to her lips.

He watched her drink. Looking at her lips press to the cup. He couldn't keep his eyes from wandering down over the curve of her breasts in that camisole. The bit of skin showing by her hips… how short her shorts were. Her hair uncombed… those long bare legs. My God she was beautiful. How he ever got any work done with her was a mystery to him now. He wanted so badly to walk over to her and kiss her, but he knew better. Let her take the lead on this. He didn't want to risk any setbacks.

"So did you just come over to stare at me?" she said with a smirk on her face, and heat in her eyes.

He laughed and looked up at her. "I could stare at you all day…" he said in a lower voice. Since his mouth had been on her skin, he couldn't keep his actual thoughts around her to himself anymore.

"Some might consider that to be stalking… Detective," she said in a sultry voice. "But you could do more than stare…" she said, her voice dripping with lust. "If you want…" she smiled coyly.

"I thought you'd never ask…" he said making his way to her with eagerness in his eyes. His hands went to her waist as their lips met. She put her coffee on the counter and wrapped her arms around his neck. He slid his tongue in her mouth and took a deep breath through his nose, pulling her body into his. His right hand moved up to the side of her breast, his thumb moving over her erect nipple. She broke their kiss and gasped as she threw her head back at his contact through her camisole. It sent electricity straight to her core. She could feel herself getting wet. Oh my God she thought… just his hand on her breast over her shirt was driving her close to the edge.

He flashed a smile as his lips made their way to her exposed neck. He then took the weight of her full breast in his hand and squeezed a little. Her breath quickened and she wrapped one of her legs around his, wanting him closer. He found that spot just below her ear and sucked.

"Oh my God El…" she moaned in his ear. Hearing his name on her lips saturated in want sent him into a frenzy. He couldn't get her close enough. He moved his hands down to her ass, and grabbed under her thighs, picking her up, wrapping her legs around him. His first thought was the bedroom, but with all his will power, he placed her on the kitchen counter instead. He rocked his hips into hers and they both moaned at the contact. He could feel the heat between her legs as she spread them to accommodate him.

He slipped her robe off, and it fell to where her elbows were bent and kissed his way down her throat and to shoulder. His hands moved down to her hips, slipping under her waistband. She needed the same thing. More skin. She unzipped his hoodie pulling it down. Her hands slipped under the tank he was wearing. They found his collar bone, then moved out and down, grasping at his biceps, trailing her fingers all over as his teeth nipped at her skin. She touched the familiar places she had in the past through his clothes. The back of his arms, his elbows, those amazing forearms of his. She slid her fingertips back up and this time went down his strong shoulders, his back, his spine.

Her touch was like fire on ice and smoother than silk. He was so distracted by her, he was starting to feel light headed. He looked up at her, his eye lids heavy with lust. "God, Liv…" he said. "I want you…" he whispered as he gripped her hips and thrust into her again.

She moaned at the contact and could feel how hard he was through his clothes. It made her tremble.

"I…" she started to say but was interrupted by her phone.

They both let out a breath, and he dropped his head to her neck. She sighed, and took his face in her hands, looking into those deep eyes for a second, and kissed him. He helped her down off the counter, and she went to answer her phone.

He stood there, still facing the counter, both hands on it, trying to compose himself. He picked up his hoodie, remembering her wristlet was in his pocket. He overheard the end of her conversation.

"I'll be there soon… yea give me a half hour… ok thanks." She said and hung up.

She looked over at him. He was now facing her, leaning against her counter, arms crossed over his chest.

"El, I'm sorry…" she said, "I have to go."

"Duty calls… Captain." He said his lips curving upward slightly.

She felt a surge of lust at the way he called her Captain. A smile tugged at her lips. She walked back to him and slid her arms around his neck and kissed him slowly. She felt his breath hitch in his chest, and he broke their kiss, placing his forehead to hers. He looked up to meet her and smiled.

"Are you free Saturday?" he asked.

"Saturday?" she questioned. She pressed herself into him, causing him to take a deep breath and clear his throat.

"Yea… I want to take you out…" he said, swaying with her a little, his hands moving over to the top of her ass.

"Like a date?" she questioned as her lips curved up into a smile.

"Yea Liv, a date." He smiled back, unable to play it cool.

"I think it's something we should do. I think we both deserve that."

She eyed him curiously. He laughed, knowing she was still not completely sold on the idea of them on a date.

"Look," he said, "I want to take you out. Call me old fashioned." He dropped his gaze. She could tell he wanted to say something but decided not to.

"What is it El?"

His eyes met hers again. How did she do that? How did she always seem to see straight into his soul he thought?

He huffed out a breath. "I've had to watch you go out with… other men. And I know I haven't always hidden my… uh… protectiveness over you well…"

Her eyebrow shot up. "Protectiveness?" She interrupted. "Is that what you're calling it, because it always seemed like jealousy to me." She stated, her hands playing with the hair at the nape of his neck.

He smiled and laughed. "You're not gonna make this easy for me huh?"

She pursed her lips and shrugged her shoulders, trying not to laugh.

"Ok… I've always been jealous. I didn't have a right to be, but I was. I just thought it would be nice to get dressed up… just for you. Just for us. I want to make other men jealous when they see you're with me."

She blushed a little at his last statement, looked at his lips, and then back up into his eyes.

"Ok..." she said. Keeping her eyes connected with his. She licked her lips, suddenly feeling thirsty, but not for something to drink.

"You keep looking up at me like that and I might not make it to Saturday…" he said pulling her closer to him.

She laughed. "I didn't think we were gonna make it off my kitchen counter…" she said, her voice trailed off. She kissed him again, this time slowly tracing his lips with her tongue before she slid it in his mouth. He moaned and fisted his hands in her silky robe.

Before they were right back to where they left off, Elliot's phone rang. They both let out a laugh knowing this was how their relationship was going to be. Always interrupted by work. He took one hand off her, to look at who was calling. It was Bell. He let it keep ringing and gave her another kiss. He let go of her and they both sighed at the loss of contact.

"Oh," he said, "You left this in my jacket pocket." He handed her the wristlet she used at the wedding.

"Thanks." She said taking it, and then grabbing his hand with hers. She squeezed it. "See you Saturday?"

"You can count on that." He said, smiling. He walked to her door opened it and paused. He whipped back around and in two steps he was on her again, kissing her for all he was worth. It was filled with passion and lust, but mostly need and love. He ended the kiss, looked deep in her eyes seeing his own feelings reflecting back at him, and then he left.

Olivia stood there for a few seconds, unable to keep the smile from her face. She laughed to herself and ran her hand through her hair.

"Ok… " she huffed out a breath. How was she going to make it to Saturday? Especially since now, she couldn't ever look at her kitchen counter and not think about what almost happened there. Her mind started to wander, her body reacting to the memories of his touch, and what the future may hold for them. She shook her head and took a deep breath trying to bring herself back to reality. She needed to go to work, and not have a clouded mind. Work. Work was going to get her to Saturday.

EOEOEOEOEOEOEOEOEOEO

It was one hell of a long week. With Fin on his honeymoon, they were short staffed at the 1-6. Paperwork was piling up, and people seemed to be more depraved than usual for this city. Olivia had gotten a few texts from Elliot, and they spoke on the phone two or three times. They were short conversations filled with quiet pauses packed with sexual tension. He had told her he missed her, couldn't wait for Saturday, and she had said the same.

It wasn't as strange or awkward as she anticipated. They seemed to be able to slip right back into the old days with one exception… they could now say all the things they kept silent between each other. Nothing was standing in their way anymore. Well, maybe just themselves.

Olivia was on her way home Friday night and Elliot called.

"Hey El." She said.

"Hey Liv." He said, and then paused smiling. He was sitting on his couch alone. "How are you?"

"Good, tired, but good. It's been a long week." She said, stressing on the long part. She paused wanting to tell him how much she misses him, how much she wanted to just show up at his apartment and continue what they started on Sunday, but she decided she didn't need to sound that desperate.

"Yea it has…" he paused. "Too long…"

And suddenly she realized he wasn't talking about the week anymore.

"So where are we going tomorrow?" She asked.

"Well I know a place near by my apartment. We could walk there." He said.

"That sounds great El…" she said, then in a slightly lower voice she added "What time do you want me…"

She heard him choke a little before he said "All the time… Liv… I want you all the time…"

She felt butterflies in her stomach. "At your apartment I mean…" She heard him laugh.

"How's seven?" He said.

"See you then." She said feeling her butterflies again.

"Can't wait." He said, and then she hung up.

Elliot laid on his couch for a second as thoughts of Olivia invaded his mind. He then realized this was actually going to happen and he had a small problem. After Eli moved out he hadn't really cared about what his apartment looked like. He wasn't even sure if he had any sheets fort the bed he never slept in.

That was not going to work if they ended up at his apartment. He'd call Kathleen in the morning he decided. She had been hounding him about making his apartment more like a home for weeks now anyway. He needed things to be comfortable for them. Show Liv he wanted this. He'd spend the rest of his life showing her if that's what it took he thought. Tomorrow night was hopefully going to be the official start to what he hoped would be the rest of their lives. Together.
