Voight thought about what to say, he knew Jay didn't like being weak. But as soon as he was about to speak he noticed that the detective had dozed off in the chair with his arms folded.
In reality, with his arms in that position, the detective was trying to find relief from the excruciating pain he had in his stomach, in fact one would have to wonder how he managed to sleep with such pain.
But Voight seeing him sleeping decided, hoping not to wake him to lay him on the sofa in his office.
With a little effort he made it and got out of there letting him rest.
An hour later the boss was walking back into his office to check on his young detective, but halfway up the ladder his superior stopped him.
- Voight in my office now - he told him
- Yes - he replied, intending to check first how Jay was doing.
- NOW - He said to him and the sergeant was forced to go down towards his boss and in doing so he looked Antonio in the eyes of him.
Dawson immediately understood why Hank did this. Yes he jumped up from his desk and ran up the stairs, opened the door and was shocked by what he saw.
Jay had gotten even worse. He had fallen off the sofa, his lips were shades of blue, his eyes wide open, his body like a piece of wood lying on the floor.
Immediately, without thinking twice, he took the phone that the younger detective had in his pocket. He had been lucky because usually everyone left it in their desk drawer, but that day was special for Jay, it was his birthday, so he was forgiven if he kept it in his pocket so he could answer calls and greetings received, since what they were doing was office work.
He picked it up and called an ambulance.
- 911 what is the emergency? - asked a woman's voice on the phone.
- I'm Detective Dawson ID number 50259. I need assistance in District 21, my colleague is not breathing. - Antonio replied agitatedly.
- What happened to him? - she asked
- I don't know, it's been weird all day. - the senior detective said
- Has he lost consciousness? - asked the woman.
- No, at least I don't think so. He is alert now, but he is terrified. I am practicing artificial respiration. Dawson said
- All right, the ambulance will be there in three minutes.
Once the 911 call was closed, he dialed the number of Will, Jay's brother.
The phone rang, rang and rang again.
- Damn - said Antonio - answer Will-
He quickly dialed the number and in the meantime continued giving the boy mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Nothing the phone sang again empty.
