I don't own any of this Loud House belongs to Nickelodeon.
An alarm rang through Lori's ears as she slept, groaning in agitation as her sleep got so crudely interrupted, Lori shot her arm off at her desk where she felt around until at last her hand landed on her alarm clock. Shutting it off with a hit, Lori slowly rose herself up with a stretch and a groan.
Lori sat there on her college bed letting out of what remained of her sleepiness, with most of it out of her system Lori gets out of bed and went to the bathroom for her morning shower.
With music blaring in the background, Lori washes herself, the warm water allowed her to become fully awake, plus allowing her to have a clear head to think about what was happening right now as well as the events that played yesterday.
The day after Lori learned about the shocking news of the asteroid. The college had become a large assortment of voices filled with concern that cried everywhere from the golf courses to the dorms, and from what she got from Bobby it was like that in the city as well.
He tells her about how everyone seemed to be not themselves by not caring about anything. Then much later in the day the bodega got swarmed by a ton of people as if they were locust, and like them they completely emptied out the store, leaving nothing but the greeting cards.
Lori could see how exhausted he was, from the panting in his breath, to his sweat drenched shirt. Lori showed her sympathy to her poor, overworked boyfriend as he does the same for her. Bobby could tell that she was scared over this whole ideal just like him, though what Bobby didn't know is how much conflict she is feeling right now.
The conflict Lori is feeling is the troubling thoughts within her as she's struggling to figure out what she was going to do? Does she stay here at her dream college? Go to be with Bobby? Or head home to be with her family? The answer is obvious to Lori, but with the panic of the upcoming disaster it's making her not think clearly.
Lori stands there in the shower, those thoughts still conflicting in her mind, her music continues to blare in the background while she stands there with the most troubled look she ever had in her life.
It was funny though, she was just taking her first footsteps into adulthood, but now the universe is literally throwing a wrench at her life plans.
After her shower, along with her other morning routines such as: doing her hair, applying makeup and eyeliner, and putting on fresh clean, campus clothes. Lori heads for the cafeteria to get her morning coffee, she passes by her fellow dorm mates who still looked just as worried as yesterday, she also passed by open dorm rooms that looked empty of any personal items, Lori didn't have to be as smart as her sister to figure out what happened to those guys.
Lori eventually gets to the cafeteria where she got her usual order of black coffee, now with her drink in her hand Lori goes to a nice spot near a large window where campus students could be seen in the main campus square.
Lori takes a sip of her coffee before picking up her phone to check on social media. The first thing she saw was a video of a full blown riot at a Walmart in Chicago, from what Lori saw it looked like a scene straight out of Black Friday with how everyone trampled one another, to violent fights. However it wasn't just that one though, Lori could see other similar videos that were posted from all over the world.
Tapping on another post, Lori now read a post from a girl two years younger than her, that read about how a group of men broke into her home and took every essential item they could get. Another told of a family being run off the road, where their things got stolen shortly afterwards, then the people who stole their items left the family behind.
Reading other posts; Lori is shocked on what audacities people pulled on one another, one of the most shocking things she read was a post telling about how a gang stormed into a hospital in Los Angeles and gunned down anyone they saw, then took anything they could carry leaving countless dead or injured.
Lori couldn't believe that a group of people would go that low, going into a hospital and stealing the items is very bad enough, but also shooting at the doctors, nurses, and patients at any age is absolutely going too far.
It really disgusted her, it disgusted her so much that Lori had to shut off her phone so she wouldn't have to read any more posts, she didn't even know if she could drink most of her remaining coffee.
Lori sat there venting out her emotions for a good amount of time, until at last she decided to get out of the cafeteria and take a good walk around the campus.
Upon coming outside Lori noticed a group of students assembled in front of the steps of the college library. Curious on what was going on Lori walked over, where she stood at the back of the group, but still had a clear view of a person wearing all brown clothes with a sign raised above his head that read "LIES!" above a picture of the asteroid.
Lori held in a groan for it looked like Gavin Griffin was going on another one of his conspiracies again, she swears that he could come up with the most mundane conspiracy theories on anything that's already been proven. "People don't fall for these lies about this so called 'asteroid'! The government is lying to you, so they can control us! Just like with that phoney pandemic they made up with in 2020!"
"Why would they lie about such a thing?" A girl with a rainbow shirt called out.
"Yeah man, I don't think they would lie about this, besides there's that satellite image of it." A tall guy also called out. Gavin waved it off with a roll of his eyes. "That's just photoshop! You should know by now that space isn't real, it's just a hologram made by the government!"
"Really?" The tall guy asked in disbelief.
"Yes! Now don't fall for their lies! Wake up and see the truth!" Gavin proceeds to go on a long speech on this theory he had. Lori rolled her eyes before turning to her fellow campus student Kayla; a girl who's slightly taller than her, had black hair in a ponytail similar to Luan. "Can you believe this?"
Kayla nods her head in agreement. "I know, he has a crazy theory for everything. I don't get how he can just ignore things that are clearly happing or well known of. For instance one of the teachers had caught that virus last October, but you know what he did? He just continued to deny it."
"I bet their are literally other people who don't believe in this asteroid." Lori pointed out, and she was right.
While majority of people are taking the threat from space very seriously, there were however groups of people who just continued on with their normal lives for surprisingly they didn't believe about the danger.
Conspiracy theorists took to the net to explain, (in their view), the truth about what was actually happing in posts and long Youtube videos. They hoped that they would get people to see the truth on the government's latest plot to control everyone.
The internet of course wasn't the only place conspiracy theorists put up their views, they also took to the streets where they protested in front of crowded department stores. This obviously caused tension to those that are fascinated by space, for they seen the asteroid through their telescopes or by seeing it in the nighttime sky as the glow from the sun had illuminated it like a star.
Fights broke out between the conspiracy theorists who insisted that it was a large hoax, and the space enthusiast who tell them how stupid they were being.
Back at the Campus; Lori and Kayla were making their way to their class. They can just hear the banters from Gavin a few meters away. "So, I see that Jeremy has left." Lori stated.
"Oh really." Kayla let's out a little laugh. "I was wrong, I thought that it was only fourteen that ran off, turns out it's fifteen."
"That's more than yesterday."
"Yes, I assume it's going to be more until the whole campus is empty." Kayla then points to where they came from. "Though I bet Gavin will still be here, going on about his theory."
"I can't believe how many have left already." Lori exclaimed while shaking her head.
"Can you blame them? With one of the greatest natural disasters we're ever facing, they want to be home to spend time with their love ones as much as possible." Lori thinks about this, and could definitely see that as a good excuse for those who skipped out, in fact thinking about that made her think of her current conflict.
"You going to?" Kayla asked.
Lori looked to her in question. "Huh?"
"I asked are you going home to be with your family?" Lori looked to her for a bit, before looking towards the approaching campus building. "I really don't know. This is the college I dreamed on getting into, its just sad that the hard work I put so much into is just going to be gone. If I do leave though, do I go to Great Lake city to be with the love of my life, or be with my family?" Lori shakes her head as this conflict is really messing with her.
Kayla could see the inner conflict she was having, so she decided to give her own two cents. "Well if you take my advice, I say you should go to your family. It would be for the best to be together with the ones you known since childhood."
"You think Bobby will understand?"
"Of course he will. After all with what you tell me, he would be cool with it since he has his own large family."
Lori stops in her tracks "That's true."
"But it's your choice really." Kayla moved on until she was out of site when she entered the campus building, leaving Lori to stand where she was with her thoughts battling within her mind.
If there was one good thing about the upcoming disaster, it's that all the exams were cancelled, so now Lori didn't have to worry about that, despite all the work and studies she did for the last week were now all for nothing.
The lectures she attended throughout the day felt so different, as it felt so empty with half the class gone, and her teacher Mr. Mclaren didn't seem all to enthusiastic on the lecture of backstrokes. This went the same with the other teachers, who acted like Lucy throughout the whole lectures.
After most of what Lori would call the most depressing lectures that she ever attended. Lori along with others of her peers went to the courses to have a round of golf. With the conflict she is having Lori was doing more sloppy than usual, so far her golf balls had landed in the ponds, sand traps, the roofs of golf carts, through the window of a shed, and on top of the head of a dean who got instantly knocked out.
Lori pounded herself on the head a couple times in some frustration as she made her way to hole ten. "Come on Lori you need to get your head in the game. Shanks is probably cringing on how terrible your doing, though I bet he's not worried since he's literally already dead." Lori gets to the start of hole ten, where she placed her ball on the marker.
Lori breaths out slowly to let out some stress, she looks over to look at the distance of the hole, once she judged the right amount of force she needed to swing, Lori reared up her club and struck the ball which flies off to the right in the completely wrong direction.
"Dang it!" With a sigh of frustration, Lori gets herself into the kart she was using, and drove in the direction her ball flew. It lead her to the east parking lot. "Great, I hope I didn't break another window." She told herself as she got herself out of the kart.
Walking through the lot, Lori scanned through the sections of the lot, it wasn't that hard since most of the cars parked there were gone, eventually she spotted her ball near the front left tire of a purple car.
Lori goes over and picked it up. "There you are."
"Hey Lori." A voice spoke up behind her, turning around Lori saw that it was Kayla with several boxes in her arms.
"Hi Kayla, what's with the boxes?"
"Well Lori, I'm taking my own advice." Kayla walks passed her, and places her boxes near the trunk, which she opened. "I'm heading back to Toronto, to be with my family."
"Your really going all the way back to Canada?" Kayla open up her trunk, she places one box in it. "It may be a long drive, but if it's for my family? It's worth it." Kayla places another box in her trunk. "It's funny though, like you, all I wanted is to have a future in the sport of golf. Now all that's out the window."
Kayla lifts up another box, it was a bit heavier than the others, so Lori stepped in and helped her load it into the trunk. "It was fun being here while it lasted." Kayla stated after she placed the last of her boxes into her trunk, which she promptly shut before walking to the driver side of her car. Kayla opens the door, then turned to Lori.
"Did you decided on what you are going to do?" Lori reluctantly shook her head no. "I haven't decided yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm going home to my family."
"That's a good choice, I would however not stay here very long for time is running out." Kayla starts her car, she slowly backs up from the parking spot her car inhabited for months. Lori stood there sadly waving goodbye to Kayla as she drove out of campus, until she is out of sight.
The asteroid didn't just poised a threat to just human life however, animal life is also under the threat of what was coming, and unlike humans they had no idea of the incoming asteroid.
While pets and domestic animals noticed a change in personality on their human masters, wild animals are just living their lives normally. For in the Texas wilderness a flock of deer have traveled to a river for a drink, they remain alert as they drank for they knew that the riverbank was a perfect ambushing spot.
They were right, as nearby a male, adult mountain lion is watching from the thick bushes, creeping every bit closer to the flock. He's in the perfect spot as he is downwind, within striking distance, and picked a old buck that's closest to him.
The mountain lion lowers down in a pouncing position, with a burst of great speed, he bursts out of the bushes and quickly closes the distance between him and his chosen victim. The buck barely had time to register what was going on, before he got knocked off his feet and his neck got puncture by sharp teeth.
The mountain lion pins the buck down on his side, as he bit down hard on the neck, the other deer flee the scene in absolute panic, the buck however finally drops dead as blood leaked out of his torn throat.
With his prey submitted the mountain lion releases the neck, he stands above his prey breathing heavily to regain energy from the hunt, he then moved to the side of the dead buck where he began to dig in.
The size of the buck will keep him satisfied for a week, he's completely unaware that soon food would be the last thing on his mind.
After the departure of Kayla; Lori spent the rest of her day at the practice courses. While Lori swung the practice balls, she thought about how quickly so much has changed ever since the the announcement of the asteroid.
Before, everyone was just worried about the spring exams, and now people were straight up leaving, the lectures were depressing, and the rest of the country seemed about ready to plunge into chaos from what she saw on her phone.
Lori swings her last ball which hit the target at the end, now feeling that she had enough golf for the night, Lori put in her club and picked up her golf balls, then began to head back to her dorm.
While Lori walked, she glanced up to the night sky where she can see a bright star that looked more closer than yesterday. Lori cringed in fear as she knew that it wasn't a star, she continued to look at it until the night sky got caught off by the inside ceiling of her dorm.
Lori didn't bother to turn on the light when she entered her dorm room, instead she just sat on her bed looking at the wall. During her walk through the dorm, she had been thinking about what she was going to do.
Tomorrow she was going to pack her things, load in her car, then drive straight home. It was a shame she was really going to leave her dream college, but you know what? It's going to be worth it just to be with her family during these final days. She was pretty sure her Bobby, Boo, Boo, Bear is doing the same thing with his family at this very moment.
For now however Lori decided to turn in, she didn't care if she was still in her campus outfit, it was pretty much in her own way of honoring this place for what it provided her during these past months.
Lori pulls up the covers, and settles herself in.
"BANG!"
Jumping out of her skin, Lori fell off the bed with a thud. She quickly gets back up and looked around, wondering what that big bang was, she catches the sight of a orange glow in the corner of her left eye.
Looking over through the window, Lori saw a great plume of smoke rising from one of the buildings from the neighboring town. Rasing her hands to her mouth in horror on the sight, Lori walked over to get a closer look where she saw that the fire was coming out from a restaurant.
More explosions admitted from different parts of the town, the echoes of screams began to blare through the night air. What Lori is seeing is the beginning of a full-scale riot that is already spreading worldwide.
It is now two days until impact.
