Eddie was sitting in the hospital waiting room when he remembered that nobody had told Maddie yet; How could he have been so stupid as to forgetting to tell her? He knew the answer was that he had just been so focused on Buck and the situation at hand, that he just hadn't had time to call her, or anyone else for that matter. He picked up his phone and found Maddie's number rather quickly

"This is Maddie" Maddie answered the phone

"Hey Maddie it's Eddie" Eddie said

"Hey Eddie what's up, how's Christopher holding up?" Maddie asked

"Chris is fine, he is with Abuela, I wanted to go see how Buck was doing" Eddie told her

"Yeah me too, I'm on my way over there right now, just going to grab my keys. Maybe I'll see you?" she told him, his heart ached for what he was about to tell her now

"Maddie Buck isn't home, I mean he was but he's not any longer, we're at the hospital waiting for a doctor" Eddie said, he could tell from the sharp intake of breaths that Maddie was going into a panic attack; "Maddie I need you to calm down and breath for me can you do that?" he asked her. He could hear how she was still struggling to breath normally and he cursed himself for having to tell her over the phone, then he heard someone other than Maddie on the other end, trying to calm her down and Chimney clearly had better success with it than he had had, once calmed down a little Maddie returned to the phone

"Sorry Eddie, I'm okay now, we're on our way" she said before hanging up the phone

'Well that went just smooth there Dias' he thought to himself. Maddie and Chimney arrived half an hour later.

"Family of Evan Buckley" the doctor called, all three of them rose to their feet and started walking towards the doctor. "I assume you all know the extent of his injuries following the tsunami?" he asked, and all three of them nodded so he continued; "I'm afraid it was a little more complicated than first thought during our original assessment. Mr. Buckley suffered a small bleed to his brain as a result of the head trauma; Now normally such a bleed would have just stopped on its own, but with Mr. Buckley being on blood thinners the bleeding just slowly grew larger. We have got the bleeding under control for now and have inserted a drain to get rid of the excess fluids, but I'm afraid we won't know the extent of the damage before he wakes up, right now we have him sedated to let the swelling on the brain go down and give his body time to recover" the doctor explained, by the end Chimney was holding up a sobbing Maddie and Eddie was trying to make sense of what the doctor had just told them.

"When can we see him?" Chimney asked, his voice unsure and shaky like he was struggling with what the doctor was saying as well, but keeping it together.

"I can take you to see him now, but I must express that you prepare yourself" the doctor answered

"We wanna see him" Eddie said with as much conviction as he could muster up.

"Right this way" the doctor told them.

He looked small amongst all of the wires and machines he was connected to, and with the breathing tube stuffed down his throat to help him breath during the heavy sedation. Maddie started sobbing into Chimney again, unable to hold herself together and Eddie couldn't blame her, watching Buck like this was brutal and Eddie wanted to turn around, leave the room and not come back before Buck was up and awake, but he moved closer to take Buck's left hand

"What a mess you've got yourself into this time body" he said to the unconscious Buck, Chimney and Maddie had moved to Buck's right side and Chimney was working on getting Maddie down into a chair while she was still sobbing heavily.
