Chapter Six

To know the truth

Sakura blinked a few times, Syaoran was getting closer and closer. She felt his warm breath on her face and that gave her goosebumps.

"What... what are you doing?" she asked nervously.

To have Syaoran that close was forcing her to focus, so she could fight the desire she had of jumping on him and ripping his clothes off with her teeth.

"I have no idea" the boy murmured, still caressing her hair.

He got closer, no more distance between them, and kissed her, pressing their lips together in a soft way. Both of them felt something warm spreading through their bodies when their lips touched, and everything became more intense in a heartbeat.

Sakura wrapped her arms around Syaoran's neck as he continued kissing her. Their tongues intertwined and she let out a sigh.

He looked at her and saw her eyes darkening.

Syaoran bit her lower lip and kissed her harder, letting himself go with the electricity that was running through all his muscles.

He heard Sakura's growl and, suddenly, he was lying down on the bed, with her on top of him, and she was kissing him passionately as she unbuttoned his shirt.

She opened her eyes with shock and pulled away from Syaoran.

"Sorry, it's hard to control myself" she mumbled with heavy breathing, moving away a little more.

It wasn't a good idea to let go of her instincts so soon or Syaoran would run away, scared of her.

He sat up, his breathing was also heavy.

"I never felt that before with a kiss, Sakura."

"Me neither" she breathed.

Both of them remained silent, looking at each other as their breathing returned to normal.

"You know... I've noticed that sometimes your eyes change colour."

Sakura stared at him.

"What are you talking about?"

"I saw it yesterday when you were angry, and right now it has happened again. They turn a darker shade of green when you are angry or when... when we are really close."

She gave him a mischievous grin and Syaoran swallowed.

"How about we go to have dinner, and after that we go to the forest?" she asked a minute later, when she heard his human heart pumping at a normal rate again.

He nodded and both stood up.

"We can go to my favourite restaurant."

"That's fine with me" Sakura answered with a smile.

It was already dark, and both of them were walking around the outskirts of Hong Kong, going to a big forest Syaoran knew.

"Most of the girls I know wouldn't dare to walk through the forest at night" he said, arching a brow.

"You'll see that I'm not like the girls you know" Sakura responded with a weird laugh.

"Hey... when you saw me yesterday and hugged me, you said 'you are mine'... why?" Syaoran asked as they started to walk among the trees.

"Because you are mine."

He rolled his eyes and she laughed again.

"I need a little more information, it's not normal to go around saying that to strangers."

"We don't say that to anyone. When we find our mate, a feeling invades us... I don't know how to explain it but it's quite strong, the only thing you can think about is that you want to be with that person, you want him to be yours forever. That's why I told you that you were mine."

Syaoran was not at all convinced with the answer.

"You'll understand better when you know what I am. I think we're hidden enough, no one will see us here" Sakura murmured, stopping.

It was after sundown and the moon light broke through the branches of the trees, allowing Syaoran to see Sakura's figure walking away from him. She turned around a moment and sighed, looking at him.

"Please don't be scared. I'll never hurt you, remember it."

Syaoran nodded, quite nervous.

He saw Sakura hiding behind a tree, and her clothes flying through the air.

The boy's cheek blushed wildly.

A little later, a sort of creaking made his hair stand up, and a few seconds later he saw a huge dog emerging from behind the tree. When the animal came closer, he realised that it was not a dog but a big she-wolf, her fur were the same colour of Sakura's hair and her green eyes were glowing in the dark.

Syaoran took a few steps back, terrified.

"You... you are one of them!" he screamed.

Sakura stared at him, trying to figure out what he was saying.

"Don't come near me!" Syaoran shouted again, and started running away.

Sakura went back behind the tree and transformed again into a human. She dressed up as fast as she could and ran after Syaoran.

She got him before he left the forest and grabbed one of his arms.

"Syaoran! Why are you so scared? I would never hurt you" she said as he was trying to escape.

"You're one of those murderers! Let me go!" he shouted, out of his mind.

He tried to hit her with martial arts moves, but she was a lot stronger than him and he didn't harm her. Sakura covered his mouth with her hand and trapped him, his back against the trunk of a tree.

"I'm no murderer, Syaoran. My pack has never killed a human, in fact several humans live with us and they are part of our family."

He tried to speak but couldn't do it.

"I'll let you speak if you promise not to scream again."

Syaoran nodded and she left his mouth free, removing her hand.

"One of your people killed my father" the boy said with his voice full of hatred.

Sakura widened her eyes, feeling stunned.

"That's impossible, I just told you that we have never killed a human."

"It happened in Japan! When I was twelve years old, some werewolves came for us when they discovered we were wizards, and assassinated my father in front of me" he grunted furiously.

She gaped at him.

"Luckily my mother, my uncle and I were able to hurt them, and they left without killing us all. The next day, we left Japan and came back here" the boy added, his face serious.

"There are three wolf packs in Japan, one of them is quite extreme and we have problems with them, sometimes they attack us" Sakura said in a low voice.

"I don't care, they were of your kind and I cannot trust someone like you" Syaoran answered, trying to break free from the girl's arms.

Sakura snorted, and stared at his eyes.

"Do you remember I told you that my mother died when I was three years old? A wizard killed her, Syaoran... and I'm not judging you for that."

He was immediately taken aback by those words.

"Really? A wizard?" he repeated, kind of shocked.

"Yeah, a wizard who hated those of my kind found our secret spot and killed several werewolves, my mother and my uncle, Tomoyo's father, included."

Both of them didn't say a word for a while.

"Now that I think about it, we have killed a human... that wizard didn't leave our place alive" she spitted out with anger, remembering how her father and her aunt destroyed that man.

"I... don't know what to say" Syaoran mumbled in a low voice.

"Just don't say anything" she answered, releasing him.

The girl went into the forest without looking back.

Not long after, she heard Syaoran's footsteps behind her.

"Sakura, wait!"

"I don't wanna see you right now" she said, starting to run faster through the woods.
