Tobias

We stand there, in the surveillance room, staring into screens. I see a candor family visit Christina, and an Erudite one visit will. But why would my father visit me?

"Hey, its getting late." I hear Tris say. She has fallen asleep a few times through out the day, but it is about 9:00pm now. "Everything is going to be fine." She says looking up at me. "come here." She hugs me. We start towords the pit, passing the Chasm on the way. Like I have been, I hold Tris close. I can feel the spray from the Chasm on my ankles, it is cold.

"we need to get some food, I am STARIVING!" She says, looking wide eyed and tired. "Hey, are you ok?" Tris asks. I just look at her. "I… I jus- Why? Why would my father come here. There is something going on." I say, louder then I mean too. "Tobias, look at me, I don't know why he was here, and we both know he was not here to see you, we will figure this out, but we need to eat something first." I nod and we go to my apartment.

"ok, we have some freezer meals, and some chicken. What do you feel like?" I ask. "I think some freezer meals would be best." She says, smiling. I find a pasta skillet meal in our freezer, and start cooking. "Look at you chef." Tris says walking towards the stove. "your muscles look so hot when you cook." She says biting her lip. Out of nowhere, she comes up behind me and grabs my hand, helping me stir the meal. I can't help but smile. "well aren't you in a good mood." I say raising an eyebrow. She stands on her tip toes and kisses me. I drop the spoon and kiss her back. I grab her waist and she grabs my face. Her hand starts up my shirt, and eventually I find my self shirtless. "what's that smell?" she says. I look at her, and then realize the food on the stove is burning. "oh shit!" I say smiling, "the food!" Luckily the food was not 'burned' but it was a bit more then heated through.

"dinner is lovely." She says with a smile. "well I slaved away all day." I say returning the smile. "So, what do you think Marcus was here for?" she asks. "well, honestly, I don't know. Maybe he is worried about something, the new leadership? I honestly don't know what else he could be here for." I say. "can we not talk about this right now?" I ask. "I guess." She says, the corners of her mouth in frown. We finish our dinner and start towards the bed. "I love you Tris." I whisper, and with that I fall asleep.

Tris

I can't sleep. Marcus wanted something. Something that Dauntless had, and I intend to find out what it is. I need to talk to Marcus. Tobias would hate me if I left to talk to Marcus, but, I need to know this. I don't know what will happen if Marcus shows up again, and I don't want to find out.

I slip out of bed and put on some jeans and a sweater, then I head out the door.

The night is still, too still. I walk along the streets, seeing nothing but dark. I check my watch. 1:32 am. I have to be back in an hour or less.

I reach Abnegation. In a way, I miss the simplicity of the life I had here. Nothing to worry about, no problems. I am unsure which house is his, they all look the same, grey rows of block like houses, but eventually, I find it. 1:42am. Ok. I knock. I can turn around, or stay, but I stay, as I want to know what Marcus was doing. A tired pale faced man stands in the doorway.

Marcus.

He looks like the Dauntless do when they have been drinking. "you going to let me in?" I snap and push my way past him. This would not have been acceptable when I was Abnegation, but I am not. He just glares at me. "what do you want?" He asks. "what the hell were you doing at Dauntless today?" I say. "visiting my son? And why do you care.?" "oh shut the hell up Marcus. We both know you were not there to see Tobias." I snap. "I am going to ask you again, what were you doing there today?" my hands are in fists. I don't realize at first but I don't care. "I…I was Visiting Jeanine." Wait, Jeanine was dead, they killed her. "stop lying Marcus. What were you doing?" "I am not lying stupid girl." I want to yell and tell him I am not a stupid girl, but right now what it important is Jeanine. "what do you mean, that Jeanine is alive? She was killed." I say. He looks tense. I look at my watch. 2:00 am. I have a half hour. "you already know more than you should." He says. I start towards the door. "wait, Tris right?" I nod. "stay away from my son." He says, stern looking, trying to intimidate me or scare me, but I am not scared or intimidated by him. "he's not your son." I say before walking back into the pitch black outside. 2:20 am. I have to get back and fast.

I reach our apartment, 2:30 am. I made it. I open the door, and my heart sinks.

"where were you?" Tobias sits by the door. "I-I…" I can't bring myself to say anything. My mouth goes dry my tongue numb. I was with his worst fear. "Tris answer me!" he looks at me, his eyes searching for mine. Usually his voice is kind, but right now, he is angry. "I was..." I pause. "… I went to Abnegation. I wanted to know why Marcus came here tod-" but Tobias cuts me off. "what the actual hell Tris!" He yells. "you were with him? So not only did you leave at 1:00 in the morning, but you went to see my father!" He looks hurt. "Tobia-" "no Tris. I can't believe it. I told you about my nightmares, I thought you were smarter then this Tris." I can't do anything, all I want to do is cry. I broke his trust, and with his father of all people.

"Tris, what were you thinking? Why didn't you talk to me?" His voice is softer now. "Tobias, he said something about Jeanine. That he was visiting her." Something inside him seems to break, like he was almost hoping that Marcus was there to visit him. "why?" he asks. "I don't know." I don't mention the comment Marcus made before I left, I don't believe it has to do with anything, but I don't know what to believe any more.
