Bella woke up in a cage. She remembered everything except how she got here. She remembered the dogs attacking her, their faces looking half way melted off. Their bodies huge and bulging with muscles and their mouths filled with large fangs. Even their large claws slicing through her body was fresh in her memory.
Bella quickly looked down and examined herself but there were no markings anywhere. She looked around and all she could see was cages much like hers. It was a long hallway with lines of cages on both sides. Most filled with people who truly looked dead. Some of them had their jaws missing, arms ripped off and laying at their feet. She was terrified but it was what she agreed to. If this was the price to pay for everyone's lives than she wouldn't complain. Her eyes roamed over each cell but every person she saw didn't look as though they were in any condition to talk. What was going to happen to her here?
Her eyes finally turned and fell on the last cage that was right next to hers, on the left. Bella spotted the man standing inside leaning back against the bars and gasped. The noise drawing the man's attention to look at her, he tilted his head curiously. Bella couldn't believe her eyes, he had wings! Like an angel. They were beautiful, she was so entranced by the beautiful feathers that she hadn't noticed him looking at her or his approach.
He had stopped only inches from her. The only thing separating them was the bars of the cage. Still he stared at her, curious as to why she continued to stare at him without fear. He got his answer when her hand timidly reached through the bars and gently grazed his wing. He didn't understand how she could see and touch them. Nobody but another angel should be able to. The man quickly grasped her wrist tightly.
Finally her eyes met his own and she only seemed more stunned. Her breath hitching for a second before releasing in a large whoosh.
Bella stuttered for a moment. The man was beautiful. His eyes glowing a bright gold. "I'm sorry. Their just so beautiful I…. I had to touch them. I'm sorry. Your eyes…. Like gold."
This time the man's eyes grew wide. She could see the truth of what someone is. As his hand was touching her, he released some of his power to search for what she was. He knew the girl was human but there was something….. She was special and he wanted to know how. His magic however hit a wall when it reached her mind. It could not penetrate it. The girl was a seer but not just any kind. The rarest of all. A truth seer. They could on see things for what they really are, their minds unable to be tricked with magic or illusions. Unable to be controlled. They had the power to see through being fooled. One had not existed since he was free as far as he know. Their kind hunted to extinction by many supernatural creatures so that the monsters would blend into society without being revealed.
He let her go, the girl obviously didn't know any of this and he was flattered by her fumbling words and sincerity so he decided to give her a small warning. The man crouched down to her level and leaned forward whispering, "Do not let anyone know you can see their true faces or forms. The hounds as well, their supposed to be invisible to humans. Do not let it be known you can see."
"Why?" She whispered
"Your torture will only be more severe. You can see the truth; they will feel threatened and be more determined to break you. Do you understand?
"Yes… but why can I see what I shouldn't be able to? Is there something wrong with me?"
"It's a very rare gift that humans are sometimes born with. There is nothing wrong with you. I've seen it before."
Bella smiled brightly at him; she was happy to know the truth about her mind finally. She always feared she was broken or a freak. "Thank you. Who are you though? Why would an angel be here?"
The man smirked at her innocent questions. He wondered how she would react to his confession of being Lucifer…. In fact he was tempted to tell her so but she was the first person he was able to speak to in Millenia. The only interaction he had with another person in so long and he didn't want to lose it.
"My name is… Lu." It wasn't a complete lie after all. "This is my punishment. Everyone comes here to be punished. What's your name girl?"
"Bella." She smiled at him. At least he seemed nice, she highly doubted that anyone else here was going to be.
Soon there was footsteps approaching, they were getting closer and she grew scared. Her eyes quickly darting to her new friend. "Lu…." She whispered, almost whimpered.
His eyes softened, even he could tell she did not belong here. He was curious as to why she was. "Remember do not say anything about your gift and most of all… do not let them break you. Don't show weakness, it only feeds them. Scream if you must but never beg." He quickly replied before stepping away quickly. If they noticed her conversing with him she would only by treated worse and they would be quick to tell her who he really was. Lucifer was not yet ready to lose his new companion.
Two ugly demons entered her cage and smiled wickedly at her. Bella gulped but did her best not to flinch at their true faces. Their skin around their mouths were gone and you could see clearly inside to their teeth. Bugs crawling in and out of their mouths. Still she made sure to show no indication of her ability to see them for what they really were. Some how she trusted Lu so she steeled herself for what was to come.
The two demons each grabbed her by the arm and dragged her out of her cell and down the hall. They went through several door ways until she ended up in a stone room with a drain in the floor that reminded her of the one she had seen in the throne room at the Volturi Castle. Well she knew what that was for…..
The men shoved her against a metal pole in the middle of the room and quickly tied her hands above hers heads than moved to bind her ankles together against the pole as well. She was unable to do more than wiggle slightly. She gritted her teeth when she tried to move realizing the bindings had barbwire in them. The more she would move the deeper they would cut her so she stayed perfectly still. Bella didn't know how long she stayed there in that position after the two men left. Her arms began to ache and body slumped more and more as the time passed causing the spike in her bindings to slice deep enough that blood now trickled down her arms. She wanted to cry but she wouldn't let herself. Not here.
Eventually the door to the room opened and a very tall man came inside. He wasn't as grotesque looking as the others but his smile was pure evil and his voice was deep, raspy and creepy as he spoke. "Hello deary, my name's Alistair. Lets have some fun." His chuckle sent chills down her spine.
Lucifer stood in his cage against the bars once again. His thoughts running on the newest addition to hell when he heard her screams. His hands balled up in a tight fist against his sides and his teeth grinding together. Hearing the first person who had spoken to him without fear in so long screaming had him raging inside. Why was she here?
