"Monsieur President, the first order of business, I would like you to convene le législateur and the I.C.W. I need to confirm my place as Champion of Magic and the right had of Lord Thanatos. I will receive Vows of Honor from all the leadership," she said. Sophie moved in the chair she was sitting in, crossing her legs in a lady-like manner; she crossed her hands and placed them daintily on her lap and looked the President in the eyes. President Donavan nodded and called his personal office elf Hippy. He wrote an executive order that a meeting of all Department heads would be convened within the next two weeks. He asked the Elf to copy the missive and deliver one each to the department heads. "Hippy will be doing as President Donavan say's sir." With a bow and a click of fingers, the Elf disappeared with the missive. Sophie had also articulated to President Donavan a list of items that were to be discussed during the meeting of department heads.
The list had recommendations for correcting the information that the teachers were distributed, making sure what they taught wasn't biased or filled with one-sided Philosophy. "I would like the curriculum evaluated by the school governors. I want them to sign a non-biased disclosure document that the Goblins will write up. They will be non-judgmental and will not push their own politics upon the teachers. The governors will evaluate each Teacher based on balance. The teachers will also sign such a document; if they are to stay teachers, they must teach both light and dark and neutral Magic. Teachers are to start teaching the ancient religion again. We must find those who practice Augury so the old rites and rituals can be practiced. We must also start to build shrines and temples to the gods for blessing and sacrifices." Sophie declared passionately.
Elijah cleared his throat, garnering Sophie and President Donavan's attention. He had been thinking a lot about this topic a lot lately. The Last time Elijah had practiced his family's religion was after being turned into a Vampire. It ended when he and his family made their way to the Modern world. "Pardon the interruption, but If I remember correctly, Witches and Wizards must pass government assessments and practical's to gain their qualifications, yes?" President Donavan nodded his agreement. "Yes, they must all pass their O.W.L's and N.E.W.T's with passing grades to continue on with their education and gain a mastery if they so desire and the career they desire requires one." President Donavan informed him.
"then I would suggest setting up night classes, making these new and additional classes available to past students and adults so that we are assured that they are aware of the changes and able to qualify themselves to the new standards. These lessons must be made available for parents of Muggle-born children as well." Elijah stated it had been part of the plan when his family had lived in New Orleans. The Factions were each represented by a human, Vampire, and Witch; they worked together to make New Orleans great, a place where all supernatural were welcome. Humans worked with their mystical counterparts to better the settlement in all ways; fewer humans had been killed under their rule than at any other time in history. He believed that instead of Humans, the muggleborn's should have a representation as well. Still, it wouldn't work if they lacked the knowledge handed down from generation to generation in pureblood families; they couldn't compete with the other factions if they didn't have access to that knowledge. Auror Tague sat up straight.
Why would they need to tell the Parents more about their society if they were trying to keep themselves safe and secret? "Uh… Why are we informing the Parents of muggleborn's more about our world? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of Rappaport's law?" he questioned. They had great success with their Magical Child Welfare Services. When a magical child was discovered, they were separated from their family almost immediately. That child was then placed under the care of a magical family. They were given government funding for the maintenance of that child. It was an easy transition for the child since they would be young enough to adapt well to their new situation. Sophie nodded with the Auror's statement, but her plan was all about gaining back the loss of Magic and magical people. If she could avoid separating families, then she would take that route. Still, she wasn't counting on the non-magical accepting someone different that had supernatural abilities. It was simply human nature to hate and fear what was other and unknown.
"They are to be told everything; then they will be given the option to move their families to the Magical world. I will activate their innate earth magic, making them Wiccan. No longer will there be a separation of the Supernatural and Magical this belief that one is greater than the other is Absurd. The newly enlightened Wicca will be free to integrate themselves with existing covens. Not only will they be learning Magic that is gifted from Gia. But they will be intertwined with the families that have had generations of knowledge of earth Magic." They could be a part of the supernatural world along with their children. This would happen in an ideal world, she thought, but they neither believed nor lived in an Ideal world.
"If the muggle parents decided to give up their parental rights, then their children's memories are to be wiped from them." She understood it was a harsh stance to take to basically kidnap a child from their family if the parents were unwilling to follow them into the supernatural/magical world. Still, those were the hard choices she would have to make to keep balance and secrecy.
"This task will also be under the direct purview of the M.C.W.S. (Magical Child Welfare Service.) All employees will sign a Magical contract bound by blood. It will be made clear that they will care for each abandoned child and find them a suitable family that will care for them. The contract is to be worded so that no matter their political beliefs about Magic or blood status, they would carry out their task unbiased and unhindered." Sophie stated emphatically. She was determined to snuff out Racism and Prejudice.
"I also want it to be known that all Pureblood families will find all the Squibs that were disowned they are to invite and reinstate them back into their families and the Magical world." That shocked the President and the Auror into silence. It had been a part of their culture since after Merlin and Morgana's time, all Squibs were cast out and unnamed because they couldn't access their Magic. The core witches lost sight of the need for squibs. "Why do we need those who cannot access not only their own Magic but the family magic's as well?." President Donavan asked aghast. He did not relish the thought of enacting a law that would demand the reinstatement of squibs back to their world.
It would rub a lot of fanatic families the wrong way. This was going to be political suicide. But Miss Mikelson was the Champion of Magic and the Right hand of Lord Thanatos. Had he not more than an hour ago been in the presence of two Deities? He did not want to find out what Tartarus was like. The passages describing Tartarus written by Homer and Hesiod said that it was the giant cosmic pit. It was located (As far beneath the house of Hades as from earth the sky lies.) "It is Lady Hecate's way of preserving the bloodlines and Magic. Purebloods think that they must keep their lines pure by intermarrying. That Practice is the cause of squibs, but it should not be their shame. My Lady is simply making up for Human error. Squibs are supposed to be cherished and blessed instead of loathed and thrown away; they are the Lexicon for the family magics. Their D.N.A. holds all the magical potential for that Pureblood family and the magical abilities that are individual to that family. Were they to stay with their family, they would be held as the teachers. They would teach all the family magic, family knowledge, and ancestry to their descendants. None of it would be lost to obscurity and death. So no matter what happens, the family lineage and Magic would not die out."
Sophie went on to explain her plan for the regathered Squibs. They would be asked to adopt the newly abandoned children and adopt them into their bloodline and raise them. They would also be required to marry a creature or a Wiccan to strengthen and diversify their heritage, making sure more Witches and Wizards were born. It would be hitting two birds with one stone. Children would learn the old way since most Squibs were from pureblood families, and Squibs would be brought back into their original world and have a value they never had or dreamed of previously. Doing this would keep them from discovery by the No-mage because the Muggleborn population would decrease. In a few generations, the term Muggleborn would not apply since you genuinely couldn't have a magical child from two whole human's one had to be related to a squib in their unknown ancestry.
"We had never thought of That before Lady Mikelson." The President replied in an awed tone, never in his wildest dreams could he conceive that the Goddess of Magic had made preparations for their blunders and hubris. It was Pureblood's fatal flaw.
Sophie also asked President Donavan to request all the pureblood families to go through their libraries and copy all that was written about the Old religion to have books for the students and muggleborns to study and learn from. Elijah interjected his opinion again, stating that they "Send witches and wizards into the muggle government we need to corrupt or destroy their technology as it's developed to better Keep ourselves hidden." Auror Tague agreed with Elijah. The Department of seven, much like the Department of Mysteries in Brittan, was in charge of studying magical artifacts and experimenting with Magic.
"Unspeakable's should also be charged along with M.L.E. (Magical Law Enforcement) Auror's to infiltrate and obliviate the knowledge of advancing technology. All records should be destroyed as well. The muggleborns could come in handy. He said they would need a sworn oath of secrecy and loyalty to the mission, not to the No-Maj world they came from." He stated thoughtfully. The muggleborns would be more knowledgeable about modern technology than those who lived their entire lives in the Magical world.
With that set, Sophie and Elijah stood to leave. They shook hands with President Donavan and Auror Tague, saying their goodbye's. Sophie told President Donavan to send her updates with His house-elf. This all took about two and a half hours to hash out, and, in keeping with her promise to Elijah, Sophie bid the President and Auror's a blessed Day.
Once on the streets again, they walked for a while. Elijah wanted to give Sophie the chance to take in the sights and sounds of life in a bustling city. She took it all in and marveled at all the wonders and Awesome things that surrounded her; everything was so big and close together, it was almost stifling.
"Papa, I believe I prefer the country more than I prefer the city, it is to Bondé! Here there is hardly any room to breathe," she stated thoughtfully. Elijah agreed with her assessment, he too preferred the small towns in the south of France, but he acquiesced to the necessity of the big cities.
Sophie stopped at a newspaper stand, and Elijah stood beside her. She asked him to buy a map; When he questioned the need for one while handing over the money to the stand clerk. She smiled innocently at him. Then Sophie proceeded to flick her hand, which placed a notice-me-not charm around them along with a Charm to Muffle the surrounding area so no one could hear them. Sophie Margaux showed Elijah where Elena and Rose were after she Charmed it with the homunculus charm. Sophie then pushed her Magic in the rune and attached the tracking charm that she had placed on Rose and the Doppelganger to the live tracking rune on the map that she had previously inscribed... Two Dots labeled with Rose and Elena's name appeared, indicating that they were just on the outskirts of Mystic falls. She then pushed on the Elena dot and said. "Regio Engorgio," the Charm enlarged and magnified the area on the map, then cast the "Akrrives simeio." It caused the magnification to show every house's precise placement and the people in them on the map. She also placed the "Mobulus Oculus" spell on the map. The Charm made it so they could scroll in and out to get a pinpoint view and location of their target. The protean Charm made her spells work in combination with each other. Sophie scrolled in, Magnifying the area. She started at the Virginia state border and kept scrolling inward when that border disappeared. She then did the same with the town limits of Mystic Fall's. Sophie scrolled inward again. The town border disappeared, and you could see the streets lined with houses.
Sophie tapped on the house where Elena's dot was. She scrolled in Closer. The Salvatore home's building plans were spread out before the two of them; Elijah noticed that above that, the house was labeled with the words Salvatore Boarding House he asked where Sophie got the idea. Sophie didn't know where the idea came from. The Goddess, maybe? She wasn't sure. "It just popped into my mind, Papa." Unaware, it was a vague memory from her past life; the spells added for pinpoint accuracy, area enlargement charm, and the mobile viewing charm was new to the concept. She would have to do this same process on a map of the world before finding his siblings since what they had was just a map of the united states. He might not be in America. They noticed that the map had added dots Labeled Stephan Salvatore and Damon Salvatore, but they were highlighted in red. They looked at the map in more detail. They saw a list of colors on the side, and what was Identified by the color code, red meant that the vampires. Then Sophie pointed out that Elena's color code was silver, indicating she had a tracking charm on her, and Rose had both red and silver, signifying she was a vampire and she also was being tracked.
Elijah looked at his new pocket watch. 10 A.M., he pulled out his new mobile phone, called his associates, told them what he wanted them to do, and informed them of Elena's location. He hung up and turned to Sophie just in time to see her shrink the folded map to the same size she had shrunk his Luxury S.U.V. She handed it to him since her sundress didn't have pockets, Elijah put it in his inner suit pocket, they proceeded on with their day walking arm in arm. "Papa, why do you désir de vengeance? What happened between Katerina and yourself?" she asked. She never got a clear picture when she witnessed the conversation between Trevor and her Teacher. "Why was this Doppelganger and Katerina so important to you?" Elijah looked down at her. She had no life experience, no one to teach her of the blush of first love or the thrill when that burn came again from another woman or man in her case. She had not felt the harshness of betrayal by someone that had professed to love you, at least not in this life.
"Ah! What a joy it would be to be there with her, at her side when she experienced these things for the very first time." He thought to himself. He would hold her and comfort her when she first felt the pain and be joyful with her when she found someone she could give her heart to for the first time.
So he told her the story of how he met and fell in love with Katerina Petrova. At the same time, hundreds of miles away and unbeknownst to him, Rose told the Same story to the Salvatore's and Elena.
Elijah spoke wistfully of the past that he remembered. "The woman I knew was known by the name of Katerina Petrova. Born in Bulgaria in 1473. She came to England in 1490. She had made her way from peasant to Lady in mere months; Katerina worked her way up the social ladder that got her noticed. It wasn't until she was introduced to several Nobles that she worked her way into my social circle since, as you know, I am very selective of who I let in. It was how she met Trevor. He had thought to gain my trust. He was of noble birth before his turning but low on the totem pole. He thought to garner a higher place in my favor and my service, so he brought Katerina to the residential castle we stayed at on the night of my brother Niklaus's Birthday. At his celebration, We were introduced, and when I saw her, I was immediately reminded of Tatia, all those old feeling came rushing back, I had loved her at first sight, but as you know Sophie, Aphrodite may be the Goddess of love but. But I was struck by Eros's (Cupid) arrow, the God of erotic love, affection, and desire. Love is never fair, Ma fille; though it is a necessary part of life, love can be harsh. It can start wars, be all-consuming, and blind you to the ones that should be the most important. And I was pulled to her like Gravity. We spent many months together as Niklaus gathered the other items that he needed for the Sacrifice. I was the one that entertained her. I knew that she was falling for me, and I for her, but try as I might, Eros's Arrow had buried deep. But as much as I wanted her, I didn't want her either she was going to die; and there was no way I could stop it from happening, so I told her I didn't believe in love because it doesn't last, for one who lives so long I."
Sophie put her head on his shoulder, offering him silent comfort. She couldn't imagine her Teacher, her Papa, not believing in love. "Do you feel the same way Papa, ne aimer quelqu'un compte pour vous maintenant?" she asked quietly as if afraid that if he said that he could never love anyone ever again, it would destroy the very essence of her.
Elijah shook his head and the top of her head in a quiet, solemn way. "I' am beginning to see other Wise Sophie when Lady Magic showed me, my son and the Generations that came from Yajna and myself all those descendants brought me you, Sophie Margaux Mikelson. And I am learning to open my heart to love again. But what I currently have is a love of my family, and it grows each minute. I do not know if I believe in romantic love anymore. When I do find it, it is swiftly taken out of my reach once again. Perhaps one day, I might find a partner that will not betray me or be taken from me. You and I will have to pray to the Gods that such a day will come."
Sophie nodded. She hoped her Papa could find someone that he could share his life with, a love that would understand the demands of duty and family. Sophie didn't have the experience to understand what he explaining about romantic love. She had never experienced an all-consuming love like that. The young Witch felt love for her Teacher, her Papa, a love of duty to complete her quest, but Sophie did not know the love of a partner as he did. She could only hope that she would not be fooled as Elijah had been. Lady magic had said that the seeker of love would teach her what love was really meant to be like; she hoped it wasn't what Elijah described it as. Pulled out of her thoughts by Elijah looking at his mobile phone for the time, It was 10:45 they had reached the New York branch of Gringotts. When they made their way up the stone steps, she was caught in amusement when she read the plaque attached to the front doors' arch. Sophie laughed out loud when she read the warning. Elijah looked at her in question; she pointed it out to him to read it for himself.
Enter, stranger, but you must take heed
Of what awaits the sin of greed,
For those who take, but do not earn,
They pay most dearly in their turn,
So if you seek beneath our floors
A treasure that was never yours,
Oh! Thief, you have been warned, and beware
Of finding more than treasure there.
"I wonder what one would find that would be so terrifying for someone not to try. I know Goblins are a vicious and greedy species, but what would they use other than spells to make their security so Dangerous." She wondered aloud; they strode through the lobby heads head loftily up. He was a redeemed Original Vampire, the guardian of the Champion of Death and Magic, and he would not stand for any disrespect to himself nor to his daughter.
"It's probably best that we never take the chance of finding out, young lady," Elijah said in a stern fatherly manner; Sophie gulped. She did not want to see her Papa angry, and indeed she would never try to do such a thing as breaking into a bank. If Irony could be had and if Sophie had her memory from her previous life and Holland Potter-black, Holland Potter-Black probably would have scoffed and rolled her eyes and said, been there done that already. Still, she had no such recollection, and there was no Irony to be had, so she would just have to listen to what her father said and take the warning as it was intended.
Elijah was scary enough when he lopped off Trevor's head for his betrayal. However, she knew he would never hurt her. Sophie was still in the body of a teenager with the mind and experience of a child who knew what mischief the Little Witch would get into. "Blessed day, master goblin, my your enemies fall at your feet, and your gold continues to flow," Sophie said as she and Elijah stepped up to the first available teller.
Elijah barely held his mouth closed as he looked at the small, pointy-eared, sharp-toothed creature that Sophie had called Goblin. It certainly reminded him of the Tolkien Goblins, but these goblins acted more like Dwarves in those stories, but they certainly looked like the Hobbit tale's imagined goblins. The Goblin nodded in respect for her knowledge of their ways and gave Elijah a vicious, pointy-toothed smile knowing what he must think of him and his kind. "Blessed day, Champion, what can Gringotts do for you?" Sophie blushed. She wasn't used to everyone in the Magical world knowing who she was yet. Sophie felt a bit disconcerted, but what could the Little Witch do? It was a title of Honor, and she would wear it as such, "My Lady has informed the magical people and creatures, do they know what my mission is?"
The Goblin Clerk, Hornbeck his nameplate indicated, inclined his head, so she told him what she needed doing. "Do I have vaults here, master Hornbeck? Or are they elsewhere in the magical world, and if they are, would you please Transfer them to this branch? I also need to add a name to them. I've been adopted by my ancestor Elijah Michaelson one of the Original Wiccan Vampires, who has been Restored to what he should have been."
The Goblin looked at Elijah and nodded his greeting to the ancient one. "I will see it done, champion," Hornbeck clicked his fingers and gave them the paperwork that appeared after informing them that she did indeed have Vaults. They were located in England. When Lady magic impressed upon all her creations with the knowledge that her Champion was among them. She also instilled in them the instinct to recognize her and the fore-knowledge of the person she had previously been. Hekate had compelled them through her might and Magic to never inform Sophie of her previous life. In keeping with the Vow that Lady magic had installed, Hornbeck offered to have a family Tapestry made for them. So they could see that Sophie had been made through the Goddess of Magic Elijah's legal and Biological daughter and not just a distant descendant. If she were to have any children, they would also be named on Gringotts files and on the Tapestry as Lord or Lady of the Noble and Ancient House of Mikelson. The Goblin Clerk greeted the ancient Vampire as Sophie was filling out the paperwork with a quill.
"Greetings, Mr. Mikelson, you are the Teacher chosen to help Miss Mikelson complete her quest, teach her all that she must do?" Elijah answered in the affirmative; he had held himself straight and noble as he answered the query; it was quite the honor to be her father and the Teacher. He would not let anyone think anything less. Once the Goblin was satisfied with his answer Elijah, then he asked about the adoption. "Master Goblin, though Lady Magic has made Sophie mine, does that mean she is part Vampire as well?" the Goblin shook his head vigorously.
"No," the Goblin answered. "The blood she has from you in her body indeed does have your restored Vampirism blood, but because you are renewed and remade by the Goddess, your blood will just meld into her D.N.A. It will become a Recessive gene. If Miss Sophie Margaux Mikelson were to have children, then somewhere along her descendants' line, the vampiric gene will become Dominate. In one or more of her descendants, this trait would appear at their majority as a creature inheritance. The child will have vampiric traits instead of being a pureblood vampire, just like the half and quarter Vela and such. That is how it is with most of our own vampires in the magical community of mixed blood. Some retain their Magic, some are faster, some drink blood, and can bear children. It just depends on how the gene presents its self."
Elijah nodded at that. He supposed it made some sort of sense his brother was half Vampire and werewolf. However, the former was locked away at the moment. Elijah had met others who had their families' talents present in an unorthodox manner, like the traveler's coven or the Gemini coven who had siphoners born to them. He couldn't say he had seen many other subspecies. Still, The Elder Vampire was not privy to the whole of the magical world; he'd been a part of a world that was separate and different. He continued to listen to Hornbeck explain his daughter's situation and new bloodline. "You must think of Miss Mikelson like the Goddess Echidna of old, Daughter of Gia and Tartarus. Sophie will be the mother of many creatures because she is the Champion of Hekate. She embodies the ability to create many creatures, though some may not be by birth, but of the creation of Magic she uses. This must happen because it is in the presence of creatures, Monsters, and ley lines that create the Mist as spoken in the ancient texts, and the Mist will obscure the minds of mortals so they will not be able to perceive that which they do not understand."
Elijah nodded in understanding. He was thrown whomever she mated with the child may or may not be just like their parents. It may be a completely different species altogether. He couldn't quite imagine the thought or sight of it; this was beyond his immediate comprehension. He remembered the ancient Greek and Roman, and Norse legend. Loki's stories, the Father of Jörmungandr, Hel, Fenrir, and the Eight-legged horse Sleipnir. Surely he thought that the Gods wouldn't demand that of his daughter. He would have to wait and see what his grandchildren would be like. They continued to do what they needed; it took them another hour for the funds to be transferred and for Sophie to receive a new Key. Hornbeck also presented them with the Mikelson Tapestry. "May the Gods grant you your Enemies Blood Lady Champion." The Goblin stated for his farewell. Sophie bowed respectfully and replied, "May your enemies tremble at your mighty feet, master Goblin." Elijah then proceeded to take her shopping as he had promised.
It was evident to anyone who looked at Sophie that she was becoming overwhelmed by all the different clothing options hanging on racks or the shirts and Jeans folded on shelves. Entire outfit options were displayed on mannequins; by the way, she was flittering about and biting her lip in such a way that showed her distress. As Elijah observed her trying to figure out what to try on first, he couldn't help think that it would have been a better option to find Rebecca before he attempted all this with her; his sister would be infinitely better at this. Still, he also couldn't leave her with the blue sundress as her only option of clothing; it just wouldn't do. She should probably know what went well together since she had training as a Lady in her previous life, Elijah thought to himself. Still, before that thought could really take hold in his mind and cause him hours of exasperation, he remembered that her experience with this new life that she was living was severely limited. What training she had from her previous life that bled through to now had more to do with her manners, articulation, and mannerisms. Sophie knew how to adequately address people in proper settings; she held herself in a way that told people that she had training; Sophie had Poise and grace that showed the world that she was above reproach. If the world were to ever find out that she had lived her previous life being raised in a cupboard under the stairs in her Aunts house in Surry, England. It wouldn't be by looking at her outside appearance. Sophie Margaux Mikelson was as regal-looking as her Papa. Sophie held different shirts to her body, trying to find what she liked and what went well with her skin tone.
"par les dieux, c'est ridicule, I do not know which style or color to choose; there are so many." Sophie muttered under breath softly, but Elijah had picked it up with his sensitive hearing.
Elijah could understand her frustration; His newly adopted daughter would find many things complex and challenging. He had yet to fully realize this since he didn't have any experience with a time-traveling Witch. Sophie returning through time had been a severe issue as he understood it. The Goddess of Magic had explained the ritual that Holland Potter-Black had performed, but to avoid the pitfalls of time travel, she had to be reborn; Sophie had no memory of who she once was. Sophie Margaux was now a young woman in her late teens. She should act more adult-like, but because of the ritual and the mind wipe and Lady Hekate's desire, she now has a chance at a new life. Sophie was essentially a child with the Poise and mannerisms of an adult. This will set her apart from her peers and his family in many fundamental ways.
Elijah automatically reached out, Laying his hand on her shoulder, quieting and calming her rising nerves. Looking around, he spotted a sales associate. The woman was young, blond, with sparkling blue eyes that men would generally be agog at. The sales assistant was In her mid-twenties; she walked over immediately, seeing how well dressed Elijah was. She automatically thought about how much she would make on the commission of his sale. Once by his side Elijah pulled the young woman to the side out of sight of other shoppers. He gazed into her eyes. She was about to open her pretty little mouth and complain to him of his actions, but before she could, he began to compel her.
"You will help my daughter find a full wardrobe befitting her age, status, and comfort. She will not be dressed in anything risqué. I will not have her showing off her breasts as young girls are prone to do. The look is to be classy, clean-cut, and with a hint of personality to it." He said. Sophie watched again and continued to be fascinated by his technique; his compulsion gripped the young woman's mind, and she could not fight it. After all, the woman was Muggle, and she didn't have the training to resist his power. Sophie wouldn't have to worry about things like that for much longer. She would be meeting again with president Donavan and the I.C.W. they would be setting up plans to have Ward stones crafted and placed worldwide on the convergences of ley lines. Once they were all set and carved with the elemental runes, she would set them and cast the spell to link them together. They would be powered with the rituals and sacrifices that the Wicca would be taught and the old rites' observance, as was their natural duty. Not only Replenish the Magic Gia was giving them but strengthening the Magic that was there already.
The young Blond sales associate parroted Elijah's commands from his compulsion. She then took Sophie over to the lingerie department to procure the necessary items, The last time he went to get a wardrobe with a woman had been with Rebecca in the twenties. His sister had taken hours if he recalled. Creating clothing back then took even longer because they were made for the original Vampires; they used nothing but the best. So they went to tailors who were able to create custom clothing to fit their bodies and were undoubtedly the latest fashion. Being the elite Modern Vampire, the Originals didn't go shopping in department stores that sold ready-made clothing. That was far beneath them, but for now, it would do; tailoring was a lost art now a day's, so it was either high-end shopping with fashion designers to make custom designs or to stores that sold one-of-a-kind styles. Sophie was Champion of the Gods. She would need to represent that and their family in the way she dressed.
"I miss you, Rebecca; it will be wonderful to hand this off to you when we reunite." He said quietly. When they were done shopping for clothes and her other essentials, They were driven to one of New York's finest salons on the recommendation of the sail's associate whom Elijah had compelled. Sophie had her hair washed, dried, and styled; it was quite the experience she loved when the hairdresser's assistant washed her hair. She enjoyed having fingers massage her scalp. That was probably the best thing about going to the salon. Once Sophie's hair was done, Elijah complimented her new look by saying she looked like a modern young woman about town. Sophie wasn't sure exactly what that meant. Still, Sophie could tell that her Teacher had expectations of how the Witch carried herself and how she dressed and introduced herself to people out in public. Elijah wanted her to display proper decorum. He wanted her to be the good young Lady that her previous life had trained her to be. Hopefully, this would stick in her head and stay there. He knew that if his siblings got a hold of her, they'd try to turn her into a disobedient hooligan.
They made it to a department store to purchase other bathroom necessities like shampoo, conditioner, Body wash, and loofas. Walking over and seeing all the different options was quite overwhelming, not only for Sophie but also for him. He tried to remember the brands that Katerina had bought the last time they had met in Manosque, France. They had met up for a few weeks, then she would be off on her way avoiding Niklaus or some other business; they had agreed never to ask each other what they were up to during their time apart. They just wanted that time for them and other physical activities. But the last time was about two years ago. It had always been like that they'd Rendezvous while they were there; those two weeks had been glorious, at least they had been before he knew that he was under the thrall of the Doppelganger curse.
"I believe this is what the hairdresser recommended, Papa, for my hair type because I am neither dry Nor oily. It has Karyotin, vitamin C, B, and A." He nodded. "Then I believe that shall be fine, my dear." Then they had to tackle Things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, and Razors. Elijah's eye's glinted with amusement at the look on her face when he explained to her about body hair, leg hair, and body odor that would become an issue if she did not shower and shave every day. He counted on Rebecca in teaching Sophie how to manage the hair on her privacy spot, which was the term he used. He was unable or unwilling to mention any other word for his daughter's nether regions.
"I have a privacy spot Papa, where is it?" She asked; her tone was so innocent, her eyes were so wide and Doe-like, Elijah couldn't fault her for her innocence. It was strange to have her at one-moment act like the Champion of the Gods knowledgeable beyond her years, able to talk to Presidents and dignitaries as though she were one of them and then the next moment having to explain the basics of everyday living. He knew for sure that Sophie hadn't tried to explore or familiarize herself with her new body. It wasn't exactly a concern of hers yet, and he was grateful that to have a naïve teenage daughter, anyone could take advantage of her. "I will rip hearts out of any man that lay's a finger on her without her permission."
Elijah hoped it wouldn't become an issue for a while. If he could have used the term Vagina out here in public, she probably would have caught on better, but he had too much class to talk about such things outside the privacy of their living space. He was horrified at her comment. Now that it was possible because his blood flowed through his veins, he blushed in embarrassment at the innocence and Naivety of her question. But he was also amused watching her take a deodorant stick, open it, and smell it when that was over. Some were aptly named: spring fresh, wild berry citrus, and lavender rain. Sophie had eventually chosen the Rose and Vanilla scented stick.
"I could not decide, Papa, there are so many; stop laughing, it is not funny. It is a serious decision on whether it is better to smell like Rose and Vanilla Rather Lavender rain." She stated adamantly and adorably in her French accent.
He was enjoying the experience of being her Father, Teacher, and Guide. Still, he was also more terrified than he'd ever been, even with his siblings when they were human or when The Elder Vampire had helped raise Marcel alongside Niklaus when they lived in New Orleans. That's was the one time he'd gotten close to having a child of his own. They stopped at an antique jewelry store. Sophie found an exquisite pocket watch for Elijah and a locket for herself. Both contained mirror's inside.
At the same time that Elijah and Sophie were gathering necessary items in the City, Elena walked up to the Salvatore house. She knocked on the dark oak door; she was familiar with this front door. She'd knocked on it and opened it many a time, but when she knocked on it this particular time, it was Damon who was the one to open it and greet her. "Hello, Elena." He greeted her.
Damon was back to normal now; it seemed he could do that. The speed he could switch his emotions from morose to happy was so quick it often gave her emotional whiplash it gave new meaning to bipolar in the extreme. The attitude change made Elena feel a bit weird shifting on her feet would have alerted anyone to an emotional situation. She folded her arms over her chest, which further her emotional status from last night's conversation, so she did what Elena always she avoided the issue and the accompanying feelings.
"Is Stefan here? He called. He said it was necessary." She asked. Elena looked to see if she could spot Stefan anywhere. There was no sign of him in the hallway. Elena had been wary of coming here. Damon had brought up a lot of unwanted feelings when he had given her Necklace back, which she had tried to stuff at the back of her mind. She didn't want to think about it now; besides, she and Stefan were still taking a break in their relationship. Damon opened the door wider and waved her in.
"Right, this way." He said Damon closed the door behind her, then made his hand back to the conservatory; Elena started walking to the receiving room when Damon was a good way down the hallway. She didn't make it too far when she met Stefan, she came to a halt, not sure what to say to him, and it looked like he was in the same position.
"Hey," Stefan said awkwardly. He had intended to give Elena her space to figure out what she wanted, but her being kidnapped the other night made that impossible now. Elena's safety was his number one priority; if he had to intrude on that time, he would, he would do anything to keep her safe.
She was bent on Ignoring thoughts and feelings that were warring inside of her, re-focused on why she was here. "What is this about?" she asked.
Before Stefan could answer her question, Rose showed herself. She was stood there quietly, observing their interactions. It was slightly interesting that Stefan had so much compassion for the girl. Rose saw the differences between Katerina and Elena, but she could also see the similarities. The 560 yr. old Vampire female kept her mouth shut. Rose wasn't going to say anything to shake the tenuous ground she was standing on with the Salvatore's. But her unknown observance was broken because Elena had noticed her she growled out. "You."
That single word held such accusation, anger, and spite that if Rose was a younger Vampire or not already aware of the Petrova vindictiveness. She would have flinched Violently, but she was older, and she knew what Petrova's were like, so she just walked back into the conservatory.
Stefan groaned out in annoyance as Elena gave him a look that was both accusing and inquiring, he didn't answer, but he just guided everyone back to the living room, telling her on the way that Rose had come here with information and to help them. Elena took a seat on the couch folding her arms and glared at Rose: Wanting her to just get on with it.
Rose began pacing back and forth, rubbing her hands together. "Okay, you have to understand I only know what I've picked up over the years, and I don't know what's true and what's not true. It's a problem with all this vampire crap, I was never in any of their circles, and Trevor was in the outer echelons of the lower circle of Elijah's group, but Klaus, I know he is real."
Elena was Mystified. What in the world was Rose talking about; she looked much more afraid of this Klaus person than she had ever looked while waiting for Elijah to show up.
Elena looked at Stephan, then Damon asked. "Who is he?" Elena asked the group. Damon answered as he walked over to the alcohol cart to pour himself another drink. If he wasn't a Vampire, he would definitely be considered an alcoholic.
"He's one of the originals. He's apparently a legend." Damon scoffed out in a sarcastic, caustic tone. He didn't know why he was listening to this crap; they should just behead the she-vamp and be done with it, finish of the revenge for kidnapping the woman Damon lo… his brother's girl he corrected his thought.
Stefan sat on the arm of the couch next to her. He clarified what they were talking about for Elena. "The term for Originals means that they're the first generation of vampires." Elena perked up at that, remembering what Trevor had said at the mansion. "Like Elijah?" Rose shook her head insistently.
"No. Elijah was the Easter bunny compared to Klaus. He's just a foot soldier, but as I said, this is all just speculation rumors on top of mystery on top of rumors." (She had no idea that the original Vampires were family, they didn't go about advertising that fact to lowly Vampires.) "Klaus is the real deal," Rose said. She was visibly shaking with fear just saying the name; if Elijah could kill her best friend by lobbing off his head, she didn't want to consider what Klaus would have done. Elena knew she was scared, but the other two Vampire also noticed that she was terrified.
"Klaus is known to be the oldest," Stefan said absently. He didn't know why he knew that, but it was somewhere in his vague memory that he had heard that comment before. He was trying to Emphasize how dangerous this was going to get, so they all knew to take this seriously, especially Damon, since he had a tendency to go light-footed into hazardous situations.
Elena got up off the couch and started slowly walking around, trying to process everything. "Okay, so you're saying that the oldest Vampire in the history of time is coming after me?" Rose answered at the same time as Stephan did. "Yes."/ "No."
Damon cut in, waving his hands around Flippantly. "What they're saying is, I mean, if what she's saying is true..." he said because he seriously had doubts about trusting this vamp, which they knew nothing about. To which Rose replied back to him snappily. "Which it is." She was 550 years old; for crying out loud, she had many contacts in the supernatural community; Rose had to have, to keep alive and on the run as long as she and Trevor had.
To which Damon replied sarcastically. "And you're not saying that, so I don't kill you," Damon asked as he pointed his finger at her accusingly; "Which I'm not." she huffed out in frustration; this young vamp was a suspicious prick, she thought in her head.
That made Damon flippantly reply to Elena, "Then we're looking at a solid maybe." She had watched the tennis match between Rose and Damon, it brought up the unwanted feelings again; she could see the chemistry between Rose and Damon. Rose challenged him, whether it was because she was older and could kick his Ass, or it was because she genuinely liked giving him a run for his money.
Stephan turned to Elena and grabbed her upper arms breaking out of her thoughts. He looked into her eyes to give her some comfort. "Look, Trevor's dead, So no one else even knows that you exist except for Elijah, Rose, Kathryn, and your mom, but Isabell is gone for now, and Kathryn is all locked up, and Rose is here to help us; we'll deal with Elijah when he comes."
"That's not right Stephan, Nobody else knows that YOU! know of, you have to remember that Elijah was protected by a witch or at the least by a spell, so he could have told someone what he was up to and what he found out afterward when we all whooshed out of there," Rose said shaking her head making her point. Damon didn't like that she was adding more to the problem, confirmed it was information that they hadn't considered, but he was irritated any way so he would make his point. He Vamped over to her and got right in her face and retorted, "That's not helping."
Rose shrugged, she could sense that he wasn't about to hurt her. He was Jealous of his brother; Stefan had Elena's love. She could see the hurt and in Damon's demeanor and the emotion shining through his eyes even though he was choosing not to feel anything; metaphorically, he was choosing to switch off his humanity. But she continued trying to stress how freaked out they should be. "Klaus is not imaginary, and he doesn't give up. If he wants something, he gets it. If you're not afraid of Klaus and Elijah, then you're all idiots."
Damon swaggered away from his position in front of Rose. Like always, He wasn't going to take things seriously; he had his humanity flipped any way, so technically, he didn't care. He raised his hands and shook them like Jazz hands. "Alright, we're shaking. You made your point." Elena sighed exhaustedly; really, Damon could be such a child. She couldn't deal with all of it anymore, so she shook off Stephan's grip and walked towards the front door. Elena didn't stop when she heard Stephan call after her. "Where are you going?"
She looked over her shoulder and said in resignation. "School. I'm late." Stefan Went to follow. He was not going to let her go alone and unattended. "Let me grab my stuff; I'll go with you," he called after her; Elena replied numbly and blank-faced. "It's okay. I know where it is." Closing the door behind her. Elena walked to her car and got in Mechanically; she sat there for a brief moment, then started the car and drove to school.
In the house, Damon turned to Rose and said. "She's in denial." His tone was unmistakable; Stefan didn't need to be told this. It was kind of obvious to everyone. He just said that to needle Stefan a bit more, and Stefan knew his brother's tactics. Stefan whipped towards Damon and glared. "Shut up, Damon." he stomped out to the entryway. He grabbed his school things and head out as well.
Bonnie arrived in her car to school, gathering her messenger bag and books. She climbed out, hitting the button on her Key fob to lock her door, then she began her walk across the lawn towards the school entrance. Just then, her books fell from her arms to the ground. Luka planned that as an ice breaker to introduce himself, work his way into their group. Jeremy noticed what happened and ran from the parking lot to help her before Luka could move in. "Here, I got it," Jeremy said as he bent down to pick up the book for her; Bonnie smiled.
Her face darkened with blush a little. Bonnie knew that she was developing a crush on her best friend's little brother, and that was just a whole can of worms she wasn't sure she wanted to open. "Thanks. Where's Elena?" She asked a bit distractedly as she started walking towards the entrance of the school again.
Jeremy followed her and answered. "She's actually running late today. What are you doing later? You want to hang out at the grill, shoot some pool? The winner owns the table." Obviously, he was trying to play cool and not sound like the emo boy asking the popular cheerleader out on a date. Bonnie snorted in surprise and unbelief. Jeremy never wanted to hang out with her or Elena's friends before what was going on? "Uh, why?" Jeremy looked at her with a side glance and continued to walk as this is what he did every day.
"Why what?" he asked. He was trying to play it off like Bonnie's tone hadn't hurt his feelings which it had. She shifted her load that was back in her arms; she was scrambling, trying to think of reasons to refuse or accept the Dark-haired Witch did not want to make assumptions she had no business making. "Well, you never asked me to play a game of pool before, so why now?"
Jeremy rubbed the back of his neck, a bit embarrassed that she was so disagreeable to the suggestion to hang out with him. She probably only saw him as Elena's little brother, no one worth getting to know. "Uh, I don't know; I thought it'd be fun, never mind." Now that made her feel bad; before he could walk away, she grabbed his arm. She didn't mean to offend him or imply for him to stop his advances; she liked being looked at the way he looked at her.
"No, hey, okay. Sure. It's just..." Jeremy turned to her so he could look at her face clearly to see her expression, he could see her skin darken with blush, and her eyes look at him shyly. "Just what?" his tone was encouraging and longing at the same time, which made Bonnie look down at her shoes, then up she searched his eyes for a moment, trying to find something in them that said that whatever she said, he wouldn't take the wrong way, Bonnie in some ways felt like she should deny him. Still, she also really wanted to see where these new feelings would take them, so she just said. "It's just you're Elena's brother and...sure. It's just, I'm terrible at pool." Jeremy laughed. He was relieved that she hadn't said that he was younger than her, or just a kid, or not her type. He couldn't help but cut her some slack. It would be a hard transition to make from best friends little brother to a potential boyfriend. "Yeah, yeah. I thought you might be."
Before they could flirt further, they were interrupted by a boy they didn't know he was just about Bonnie's height, he African American like she was and had black hair and brown eyes. "Excuse me! Do you guys know which way is the office?" Unbeknownst to the two teens, this teen was Luka, the son of Elijah's warlock. He and his father had been charged with keeping an eye on those that Elena surrounded herself with. Since he was school age, his Dad wanted him to integrate with the kids at the high school and mainly Elena's circle, especially their Witch, if he could without getting caught.
Jeremy answered him in a friendly enough tone but stern enough to say Bonnie was taken. Jeremy could see the thinly veiled interest that lay in Bonnie's eyes as the new kid looked at her. Luka was giving her a charming smile, and it irked the crap out of him. He just wanted to punch his face in but instead of doing that, he said. "Yeah, yeah. Through the double doors, then straight ahead, quick left, and then your first right. You must be new here." Luka smiled; his gaze didn't leave Bonnie's face. He was oozing confidence, and he could only imagine the irritation Jeremy was feeling. It amused him quite a bit. "Yeah, I am. It's kind of hard to hide it. My name's Luka." He introduced as he held his hand out to Jeremy, who took it and introduced himself and Bonnie.
Luka was digging the Witch and totally ignored Jeremy except for the introduction; she was one hot Wicca witch, in his opinion. "Hi, Bonnie." He said as The two continued gazing at each other; Bonnie giggled a bit which mortified her and freaked Jeremy out. If she was falling for this schmuck, then his date with Bonnie was doomed. Neither of the two knew that Luka cast a spell so she would be drawn to him. She was just a beginner, and he could work around her witchy intuition since he had more experience "anyway, Luka. I'm actually heading in that direction. Why you don't follow me? It can get confusing." Jeremy said, trying to break the connection that they were locked into by offering his services.
Luka smiled charmingly again. "Thanks, man. It's nice to meet you, Bonnie." Luka said as he walked away from her, following Jeremy. He was confident he had made an in with the Witch, not really knowing how suspicious she really was.
Elena was with Caroline walking in the woods towards the church's ruins that morning after leaving the Salvatore house after picking up some of Ric's Vampire hunting equipment and calling Caroline for help.
Elena struggled to carry the bag that she had filled with Kathryn's family history books, blood, clothes, and other items that she would need to talk to Kathryn about. As they walked, Elena told Caroline what the story she should tell people if they asked after her. "Tell everyone I wasn't feeling well, That I went home from school." Caroline huffed in annoyance then said in a tone indicating that she didn't want to be doing this.
"I can't believe I agree with this. I'm a terrible liar." Elena ignored her friend's complaint. She wasn't as terrible of a liar as Caroline thought she was; she had fooled her and Stefan for long enough. Elena continued to struggle walking with the weight of the bag of supplies but kept talking. "keep Stefan busy. I don't want him to know what I'm up to."
Caroline stomped her foot and whined out. "I'm even worse at duplicity, and you know this." Elena rolled her eyes. She felt terrible that she was emotionally blackmailing one of her best friends into being her accomplice. Still, Caroline was the only Vampire that she could manipulate into doing what she wanted and not what they thought was right for her. Besides, she wasn't about to ask Rose for help either, the Petrova vindictiveness was showing its ugly head as well, and it wouldn't be denied. "You managed to keep me occupied when Katherine paid Stefan a visit." Elena accused she knew the extenuating circumstances that had Caroline betraying her, but she was not above guilt-tripping her right now, not with how she felt.
"Yeah, because she threatened me." Caroline retorted back a little snippily. She couldn't believe Elena was using that against her knowing what she did. "Stefan's gonna see right through me." She said in a small voice, she liked that Stefan saw the best in her.
He saw that she was a good vampire. It was part of why he didn't go along with Damon's plan to kill her like they did Vickie, it was mainly for Elena, but at least she wasn't dead. Elena stopped and turned to Caroline and put on her best puppy dog eyes, and said. "Caroline, as my friend, do you promise or not?"
Caroline hesitated for a brief second the exhaled in annoyance. "You had to break out the girlfriend code. Okay. I promise." Elena nodded, relieved now that she was assured that Caroline would keep her confidence. They proceeded to walk again.
"Okay," Elena said as they walked down the stairs that led under the church ruins. Stopping in front of the tomb's door.
Caroline Hesitated again then asked. "Are you sure you want to do this?" worry coated her voice; she didn't want anything to happen to her friend. Elena nodded in a determined kind of way.
"Yes, I'm sure. Kathryn's the only one who knows the truth about Klaus. The only one who can tell us how to stop him." Caroline tried to divert her friend again.
"But you're asking for the truth from someone who's probably never given it. Are you sure about this?" Elena ran her fingers through her hair. Yes, Kathryn could lie to her about pretty much anything, but she figured that she would put enticing bits of truth in there as well she would just have to figure out which was which.
"Yeah. I can't just sit back and wait. I have to know, Caroline. Please." Caroline nodded, thinking that if she were in the same predicament, she'd want to know too.
Caroline then walked towards the door and lifted it away from the tomb's opening once she had set it off to the side. Elena walked up to the edge of the entryway and called in, "Katherine?" Elena then turned to Caroline and motioned for her to leave and said. "I'll be okay from here." Just then, a sound disturbed them; it came from the back of the tomb and was shuffling forwards.
Elena turned her head and looked at the door's entrance. Katherine came into view; she stopped, just shy of where the barrier would be. Kathryn leaned heavily on the side of the cavern and greeted her double. "Hello, Elena. You come to watch me wither away?" she looked terrible. The two friends could already see the beginning signs of desiccation. Kathryn looked over, glaring at Caroline, and said scathingly, "Goodbye, Caroline." She really did hate the blond Trollip; Elena turned toward Caroline, who hadn't moved an inch. She was trying not to be intimidated by the murderous Vampire Doppelganger.
Elena smiled a bit at her friend for braving something that was obviously scaring her for her sake. "As long as I stay on this side of the door, she can't hurt me. Please." Caroline took one last look at her friend to make sure this is what she really, really wanted. Once she got her previous assurance, she left the tomb, leaving Kathryn and Elena alone.
Katherine looked at Elena, then slid herself until she was sitting on the floor, and Elena followed. "I want you to tell me about Klaus." She said she pulled out a bottle of blood, filled a small plastic cup, and scooted it through the barrier to her ancestor.
"It's a long story, Klaus and I. It goes all the way back to England, 1492, after I left Bulgaria in 1490. Or was thrown out." Kathryn said after she drank the cup of blood; she sighed in relief. She could feel her skin coming alive again, and her veins weren't burning anymore.
"Thrown out?" Elena asked cautiously as she dragged the cup back to her to refill it. Kathryn scoffed at the memory as it flashed in her mind, she had loved her mother and her sister, but she hated her father and the strict rules that he forced his family to live by. He was a traveler; they had stringent traditions, and she had made a habit of breaking those traditions frequently.
"My family, your ancestors, disowned me. My indiscretions were not tolerated at that time. I had a baby out of wedlock. The shame." Kathryn said in mock horror; Elena gaped. She couldn't reconcile what she knew of her experience with Kathryn and her being a mother.
"It was kept secret?" Elena questioned, already having a clue how things might have gone back in that period.
Katherine hummed in agreement then went on. "My baby was given away. And I was banished to England; I had to learn to adjust. So I quickly became English. It was there that I caught the eye of a nobleman named Klaus. At first, I was taken with him until I found out what he was, what he wanted from me. And then I ran like hell."
Elijah and Sophie were having lunch at an excellent quality establishment on the terrace. He was enjoying a filet mignon with asparagus and roasted baby potatoes, while Sophie had taken the first step at independence with Elijah's encouragement. Elijah first described each menu item and gave his opinion on which she might find satisfying to make an informed decision. But he left it up to her to select one that had piqued her interest the most, so Sophie was also enjoying what Elijah called a chicken pot pie.
Elijah wiped his mouth with his cloth napkin; then took a drink of his wine afterward, saying. "We should recheck the map, see where Rose is. She might try to help the Salvatore's; in their quest to protect Elena, she knows a lot about my family and me. She obviously has many contacts that could help them get to us. Not only would those contacts be helpful with the mission but with the situation at hand."
Sophie nodded without speaking because she still had food in her mouth; it was unladylike to talk with her mouth full. Once she swallowed and wiped her mouth, she responded. "Qui, I have a feeling that Rose will make an alliance with monsieur Salvatore if this Rose has a human contact. That person obviously knows she is a Vampire. She will need to list them so I can send their names to President Donavan; memory modifiers will be sent to erase the knowledge of the supernatural from their minds." He agreed with her assertion. They continued to talk over more Ideas about how to accomplish their task.
He asked Sophie who she might bring back from the dead since Lord Thanatos had given her permission to restore three souls to the mortal plane. "Do you think that you would bring back you're Parents?"
Her hand paused midway up to her mouth with another portion of Potpie; she set the fork down and looked at him questioningly like she couldn't understand the question of why he had asked it. "You are my Papa and Teacher, Lady Magic is my mother, I know not whom else you speak of." She went back to eating with nothing more said; out loud, it was probably a thought that should have troubled her, but it didn't.
Sophie thought it made sense that she might have come from mortal parents like any other child, but she did not know nor did she care. She was content with what and who she was. Her name was Sophie Margaux Mikelson; Sophie was the daughter of Elijah Mikelson, the Original Vampire, the Witch was also the Gods champion, and at this moment. It would be all she would ever need to be. Sophie is also required to bring the other seven Mikelson siblings together to restore them to what they should have been under Goddess Hekate.
Elijah should have realized that she would not remember who her parents were from her previous life. It was a silly question, after all. They finished their meal and quickly after that then paid and Tipped their server.
"Merci pour le délicieux repas." She said to him as they walked out of the restaurant. Elijah led her over to an underground garage. Elijah replied happily, "vous êtes les bienvenus ma chère." Without any preamble, the little Witch placed a notice me not Charm on the shrunken car that was laid on the ground and a charm around themselves; Sophie canceled the shrinking Charm, they swiftly moved out of the way as the automobile began to grow to its standard size. When it was fully resized, they climbed in and drove on to the busy streets of midtown N.Y. Elijah pulled out the map and handed it off to Sophie. Once it was open and she had scrolled inward enough to find Rose's dot, she noticed it was moving out of the town boundaries. "Rose and Damon Salvatore are driving towards Richmond, Virginia, Papa." He nodded and began traveling southward, towards Richmond.
*****Flashback one hour at the Salvatore Boarding house****
Later on that afternoon, Damon walked into the living room from the upstairs, where he had previously been. Rose was wiping some of her tears away, and he'd heard her sniffling. It was apparent that she was still grieving for Trevor, she was probably feeling alone and at loose ends, so she only vaguely noticed him entering the room. He rolled his eyes at her sentimentalism at losing her friend. He didn't care about many people, and those he did he would never let on that they held a place in his non-beating heart. So Damon ignored the sniffling. He sat on the couch across from her and said, "How do I find Klaus?"
Rose rolled her eyes at him. He was going to try and be a terrifying vampire and intimidate her. Well, he'd be disappointed, but she'd seen scarier things in this world than him; Damon wasn't even a blip on the scar O' meter. His Devil may care attitude was really starting to annoy her, though. She wiped her nose with a tissue, then glared at him, and his lack of sensitivity then replied curtly.
"You don't find Klaus. He finds you." She made the motion to stand up and walk away from the situation; for Vampires, or at least Wiccan Vampires, their emotions were on a hairpin. They were very highly strung, and if they snapped, it usually ended in blood, severed limbs, or death. She knew that if Damon kept egging her on, she would rip him to pieces and leave him where he'd have to find someone to help him reassemble himself. Damon Scoffed, he really thought that she was giving Klaus way too much credit, really Elijah hadn't been that scary, so Klaus couldn't be worse than that, could he?
"Come on. Somebody's got to know somebody who knows where this Klaus guy is, right?" Rose rolled her eyes at his flippancy. Young vampires really didn't have the life experience that 600 hundred-year-old Vampire did. They didn't make connections as she had and others that were a lot more eager to climb up the hierarchy ladder, just as flippantly as Damon sounded, she replied.
"Add another two hundred somebodies to that, and you're still not even close." She said. Damon sighed in irritation.
Damon was just about at the end of his tolerance with her. Still, honestly, he had no clue how deeply secret the originals had to keep themselves hidden from the significant populace. It was almost a secret society level of secrecy. They clouded themselves in misdirection, myth, and legend.
"Humor me. You got in touch with Elijah. How did you do it?" he asked. Rose then explained to the ignorant Vampire how things started, she honestly didn't know the inner workings of such communication methods, and she didn't want to. She was just glad at the time that she had contacts who had contacts.
"Through a very low somebody on the totem pole. A guy by the name Slate, he lives in Richmond." She said petulantly, she would answer him and hope that the information would be enough that he left her alone to grieve her friend, but it would be for not. Damon got up and offered her his hand so that they could be off.
"Perfect. I'll drive." He said as he stood and started making his way to the garage; Rose shook her head, lifted her hand, and showed him that she wasn't wearing a Daylight ring. "No. You forget not all of us can do sun." Damon relented most unwillingly. "Then you drive. Come on."
Mystic Falls High School was letting out for the day, and Caroline was walking out of the building. She didn't have any classes with Stefan today, so she didn't have to worry about distracting him during the day's classes, but he'd probably be looking for Elena now that school was out; she stopped and looked around. Spotting Stefan, she ran to catch up with him. "Stefan!"
Hearing his name be called, Stefan stopped seeing it was Caroline. He let her catch up; they started walking to his car again. "Hey." He said finally Caroline hadn't said anything yet, so he took the cue and broke the Ice. "What's up?" he looked at her sideways when she remained silent
Caroline made a show of looking nervous, like she had slipped up and didn't want to let anyone know that she had. "Hey. Uh, I need to talk to you. Where are you going?" she asked as a Segway, trying to figure out how to delay him.
"Well, Elena went homesick; I just want to go check up on her." Stefan answered. He pulled out his key from his pocket and opened his trunk, dropping his bag in, closing it up; he turned to look at her. She had what he would call a petulant look on her pretty face. She was a high-maintenance vampire, but she was gaining control. He was proud of her for it.
"Can't you just ditch her?" Caroline snapped half, not meaning it, and half meaning it as well, which caused Stephan to give her a weird look.
"I'm kind of worried about her." He informed her. Caroline sighed, frustrated it was kind of Elena's fault that she had been turned into a vampire as a way to manipulate and scare her just for Kathryn's amusement. Bonnie hated her; she still carried some serious resentment to what she was, and now Caroline was still playing the second chair to Elena. It was always about Elena; couldn't people understand that she needed help too.
"You know what?... Of course, you are. Go ahead, I'd...you know what? We can talk later." Stefan paused, feeling bad that he was blowing her off; she had really grown into her own besides the little slip-up with Matt. She was so good at being a vampire that he would forget that she might have problems as well.
"Uh, talk about what?" he asked in a friendly way, making sure she was aware that he did care about her and her needs like any good friend would do. Caroline bit her lip. She really didn't like this Double agent thing, but for Elena, always, anything for Elena.
"I might have done something." She confessed she made it sound like she had killed a person and needed help burying the body. It made him tense; they didn't need this right now, not with everything else that had happened and what was happening now. Stefan stopped moving towards his driver's seat; he turned his entire body toward her and asked her Warily. "What did you do?"
Caroline Cringed at his tone then confessed, thanking the Lord above that she had a genuine excuse and problem that she needed help solving; thank the Lord for Tyler Lockwood, she thought. "I might have told Tyler I'm a vampire." Stephan sighed exasperatedly, pulled her into the car, and drove to the grill to eat and talk.
Back at the Ruins of Fells Church, Katherine explained that the Petrova blood was what bound, and it was needed to unbind it. "Witches are crafty with their spells. The doppelgänger was created as a way to be able to undo the spell. Once the doppelgänger reappeared, the curse could be broken." She said as she sat on the ground, leaning on the side of the cavernous entryway.
Elena got up and started pacing around in the cavern, agitated, then she replied to Kathryn's statement. "So you ran before he killed you?" Katherine answered Sullenly. "Something like that." She said as she traced the sketch that one of the local Bulgarian artists had drawn before her disownment.
Elijah stopped and parked the car on the outskirts of Richmond; Sophie looked at the map again to see where Rose and Damon were within the city. She tapped on Rose's dot, and it highlighted the area in the town she was in. Sophie proceeded to magnify the building Rose had stopped at. It was identified as a café. When Sophie pulled the map location even further, she noted several red Dots were labeled. Damon Salvatore, Rose Marie, and Slater Harris were Identified as vampires among other patrons as well. Sophie called the President's personal office Elf, Hippy. The Elf had orders to answer her call and relay whatever message Sophie needed back to President Donavan. "Please ask President Donavan for a contingent of 10 Auror's and 10 memory modifiers to meet us at this location."
Sophie asked as she jotted the address and coordinates for the Café along with her instructions. She then handed it off to the Elf; Hippy bowed and popped away. She and Elijah drove towards the café where she had indicated to the Elf to have President Donavan and the memory modifiers and Auror's meet them.
Rose and Damon were parking the car in an underground parking lot where Slater spent most of his time. Damon got out and walked around to the driver's side of the S.U.V. just as Rose got out, he commented. "Back entrance. How convenient."
Rose ignored the insinuation he was making that she would try to use that as an advantage to get away from him. "That's the point. We can't all have little daylight rings." In 600 years, it would be foolish to not think that Vampire's had some sway in the way cities and buildings were built so they could take advantage of the modern world.
Damon ignored the resentment he could hear in his voice; not every vampire was good with witches or had witches at their disposal, so her resentment was natural. He was just lucky that Emily had prepared two daylight rings for him and Stefan since she knew they'd be turned. "How do you know this Slater guy is even here?"
Rose answered his question confidently. "I called him. He's here. He's always here."
He smirked. He vamped over and pushed Rose up against the wall pinning her there. He then started threatening her. "Just one thing. If you're setting me up in any way, I will rip your heart out and shove it down your throat. It's something I'm very good at." He was so sure that he'd had the upper hand when Rose grabbed him by the neck and turned his trick against him. She pushed him against the car at super speed, twisting his arm behind his back. "I'm older than you and stronger. Don't get on my bad side." She was not some weakling little vampire; she had fangs, and just because Rose wasn't the intimidating type didn't mean that she wouldn't be when needed.
With that, she let him go, he straightened his jacket and regained his cocky attitude, they entered the coffee shop together, and to Damon's utter amazement, the sun was shining brightly through the windows. He grabbed rose by the waist, readying himself to vamp out of there when she pulled out of his grip and kept walking in. "Whoa. What about the sunlight?"
Rose smirked at him and chuckled in her mind. Oh, how little the baby vamp knew about how those who didn't have daylight rings, how they had to adapt to walk in the daylight. "It's Double-paned and tempered. U.V. rays can't penetrate. You see the appeal now?"
Elijah parked down from the Caffe. Elijah followed Holland to an alleyway. Sophie threw up an anti-muggle charm and a muffling charm that's when President Donavan and the Auror's and Memory Modifiers apparated in.
"You will need to split yourselves into two groups, five memory modifiers and five Auror's. In front, catch the humans, one group question them, then obliviate the supernatural world's knowledge from them. Elijah and I will take care of Slater Harris, Rose, and Damon Salvatore." whom she pointed out to the Authorities, "The other group of ten Auror's and Modifiers are to go into the underground parking lot, seize the Vampires that flee from there. I want them taken and questioned Back to M.A.C.U.S.A. interview them using Verita serum. Question them about any human contacts that they have; then place live alive tracking runes on each one gain a sample of their blood, and I can add it to my map. Once you're Done with interviewing them, send them away with a warning. If anyone exposes the supernatural to any more humans after this, they will be dealt with by me. I want you to visit the list of humans you receive from them then obliviate any knowledge of the magical and supernatural understood."
"Yes, Champion." They replied they then spread out in their designated places.
Sophie and President Donavan followed the group that went into the parking lot by Elijah's suggestion. He didn't want them seeing her with him just yet; No need to give up their surprise advantage. Elijah made his way to the front of the café. He pulled out his pocket watch and spoke Sophie's name. He waited for her to respond, and when she did, Sophie told him that she and the others were ready and waiting to see what happened.
Slater rejoined them after ordering coffee. He walks up to Rose, who embraces him then says. "Hey, how are you?" Rose asked, smiling cordially at him. Slater smiled in return and said, "Good. I saw you come. What are you doing here?" he asked as he pushed the glasses that he didn't really actually need back up his nose
Rose nodded her head at Slater's ability to be kept well informed. "Mm, it's a long story, but I want you to meet..."
Slater laughed. He didn't need her to introduce him to Damon Salvatore; he knew who Kathryn Peirce was. It wasn't a leap to understand who he was either. "Damon Salvatore. Turned 1864 in Mystic Falls by Katherine Pierce, aka Katerina Petrova. So I take it I was right, what I told you about the tomb under the church was true?"
Rose nodded. She would have to concede to his expertise. He knew many things about everything. "Yes. It was right. Thank you for the tip."
He then looked at Damon and smiled excitedly. "It's nice to meet you, maybe. What's going on, Rose? Where's Trevor?" he asked, frowning; they had never apart from each other very long. It was peculiar to see them apart.
Caroline and Stefan sat at a table inside the Mystic Grill; Caroline was eating a house salad. While Stefan was just waiting for her to speak, She looked up at him embarrassedly. "Sorry, but if I don't eat, I get those kill innocent people urges. Tyler totally has those, too, by the way."
Stefan leaned forward, interested in what she had to say; this was not good. If she was giving out information about willy Nilly, it could be something that could get her killed. She was way too trusting. "Yeah, what else did you say to him?"
Caroline shrugged. She was running low on things to say to keep him from going to Elena. "Not much. I was trying to keep the questions to a minimum. Are you mad?" she hated when people were angry at her. It fueled her need to be the best at everything, to be perfect. That was part of why she was such a perfectionist because Caroline thought that if she could get everything right, no one would be disappointed in her and leave her. She was very insecure that way.
Stefan sighed out in frustration. "Yes, Caroline. As a matter of fact, I am a little mad. I mean, you put yourself at risk. If Damon finds out..."
Caroline asked him worriedly. "But you're not gonna tell him, are you?" She'd been on the other side of Damon's anger, and she was not looking forward to being on his wrong side anytime soon. She was under no delusions that the only reason she was alive now was by the grace of Elena; nobody else cared about her enough to see her stay alive and healthy.
Stefan shook his head. "No, of course not. Damon would kill you."
At the other side of the Grill, Luka sat with his father, speaking to each other when Bonnie passed next to him. Luka called out to her when he noticed her. "Hey, Bonnie." Luka got up out of his seat and walked over to her.
Bonnie smiled shyly at him, and he smiled charmingly at her neither paid attention to Dr. Martin, who had remained in his seat with a stoic expression on his face; Luka had got an In with the Good Witch. They could use that to their advantage when Elijah showed up.
"Hey, Luka. How was your first day?" Bonnie asked. She was looking around for Jeremy, she couldn't see him so he must not be there yet.
"It was great. I would like to introduce you to my Dad." he pointed to his father, who was sitting at the table behind him; they walked over, and Luka took his seat across his father again.
"Hi, I'm Bonnie Bennett." She said as she extended her hand to him. He reciprocated the handshake. He motioned for Luka to scoot over and lifted his hand in invitation to her "Doctor Martin, Jonas Martin. It's nice to meet you, Bonnie Bennett. Would you like to join us?"
She was shocked that she knew of her; unless Luka spoke about her, it was odd that a newcomer would know her last name. It made her a bit worried. "Oh, I'm meeting a friend, but he's not here yet, so...sure." She sat down next to him and started chatting. This would be an excellent way to Sus out his intentions until Jeremy showed up.
Elijah was in front of the Coffee Shop. He placed a hundred-dollar bill in the guitar case of the musician playing on the sidewalk then he grabbed a bunch of coins. He then stood for a while, just listening Slater was speaking to Damon and Rose.
"You tried to kill Elijah?" Slater said in incredulity, he couldn't believe that a vampire that was a hundred and seventy-nine years old was that stupid. That was just painting a red dotted line across his neck and saying, please Lobb my head off at this line. What had he been thinking to do such an idiotic thing?
Damon nodded, then looked pensively. It probably wasn't the most ingenious plan, but he had to do something. Nothing else they were trying was having any effect. "yeah, he was protected by a witch. Whoever it was worked the mojo into something I've never seen before."
Slater shrugged and shook his head. He couldn't even begin to know what kind of magic was at work. The Vampire enthusiast didn't dig too much in the witchy things too often since they were so Biased against his kind. "Trevor was a good man; he helped me with my dissertation on sexual deviance in the Baroque period. I was schooling for my Psych Ph.D."
Rose brought the conversation back around to why they were here. She didn't want to overthink more about her lost friend. It wouldn't get him back, and it certainly wouldn't do to be even more emotional about it now. "We need your help. If someone wanted to get in touch with Klaus, how would you hook him up?"
"Craigslist," Slater answered nonchalantly, and that had Damon answering incredulously. "Really?" If this was Slater's Idea of a joke, then he would end up heartless very quickly.
Slater nodded enthusiastically. He loved sharing all he knew about the links from one vampire to another vampire; he'd found out it had many people coming to him for information. It was awesome. "Seriously. I respond to a personal ad to get sent to somebody who knows somebody who knows Elijah, and that's where my connection ends."
Damon considered his thoughts for a moment. "Here's what I don't get: Elijah moved around during the day, which means the originals knew the secret of the day ring. Now, why would Klaus want to lift the curse of the sun and the moon?"
Slater answered the reason is so apparent, tone. "To keep the werewolves from lifting it. If a vampire breaks the sun curse, then the werewolves are stuck with the curse of the moon forever and vice versa." It was so apparent to those who had understood the lore of the curse he and Isabel Fleming had talked a lot about it when they were younger vampires.
Damon sighed, Frustrated, then said. "Awesome doesn't even begin to describe it. Can we stop the curse from being broken at all?" this meeting wasn't going like he had hoped it would. He was being left with more unanswered questions than he had when they'd gotten there.
Slater looked at him warily then asked. "What do you mean?"
Damon leaned forward into Slater's personal space. "Well, if we make the moonstone useless, would it stop the curse from being broken?"
Slater leaned back defensively. He knew he wasn't as old a Damon, so fighting him was not in his best interest, but answering wasn't either. "Well, yeah, probably, but why would you want to do that?"
Damon got up and stood over the inquisitive Vampire threateningly. He would get the answer he wanted one way or another. Damon would even kill Rose to make sure she didn't interfere with him while Damon was getting his answers out of the Vampire the hard way. With a quick snap of the neck, he'd steal her keys, then drive him and slater back to Mystic Falls. "Tell me how."
Slater got up, readying himself to walk away from the conversation. "You think I'm gonna help you figure out how to do something that will piss off an original? And keeping them from walking in the sun?"
It was at this point, Elijah was listening to Damon's question about how to make the stone inoperable He pulled out the pocket watch and informed Sophie that a mass exodus would happen in about 30 seconds. She acknowledged that she and the others were ready after having put up notice me not and containment wards so the muggles wouldn't know what was going on. Elijah then threw the coins he had taken from the street musician at the window. The coins crashed through the glass, leaking sunshine into the Café. Slater and Rose's skin starts burning. They were screaming as agony ripped through them and patches of skin started to catch fire. Damon looks outside, but Elijah was gone. Slater ran, but when he made it out to the underground parking, Sophie Cast the impedimenta jinx then cast the Incarcerous spell to tie him in ropes that even he as a vampire could not escape from.
Elijah then compelled, "you will not speak or make noise of any kind slater if you want to live." Slater nodded since he'd been commanded not to speak. Elijah then moved him to the other side of the S.U.V. out of sight.
Back in the Café, Damon noticed that Rose was still screaming because her face was now burning. Damon put his jacket over Rose's shoulders and covering her face. He got her up off the ground. He then picked her up bridal style and made his way out to the back of the coffee shop. The other customers were also rushing out. He vaguely noticed that they were being stopped by some people in official-looking trench coats, but he didn't take time to really look at what was going on. He and Rose had to leave.
The human customers naturally were fleeing through the front entrance of the Café. But before they could leave the area, they were stopped by the Auror's and Obliviators of group number one; once the Humans had been questioned and their memories wiped from all esoteric knowledge. They were then sent on their way. Sophie and her group of Auror's and Obliviators gathered up the night walking Vampires. The humans who had escaped through the back entrance along with the Vampires were caught then separated. The Vampires were stunned and bound for questioning at the ministry. Once done, they sent the Vampires to the cells with a portkey keyed to that specific location. Then they went onto question the Humans about what they knew. Once the information was gathered, they were obliviated. The Auror's and Obliviators replaced the memories they had taken with memories that fit the scenario. This happened out of sight of Damon and Rose when they came out of the Café; Damon went to put Rose in the back of the S.U.V. and said, "You're gonna be okay."
Rose was looking at something behind them. She had a nervous look on her face. "I don't think we will be."
Damon looked at her, and he got the silent message that someone was behind him. His veins began showing, and his teeth came down, just then, he whipped around, and before he could use his vamp speed, he was bound by ropes, and his body was frozen. The only thing he could do was blink his eyes. Rose looked at the woman that was standing next to Elijah. She was young; she could tell about 18-19, which would be her guess. Her eyes were dark brown, almost black, and her hair was just longer than the shoulders. The coloring was black with a reddish tint. She didn't smell any chemicals, so she assumed it was her natural color. The aura coming off the girl was Powerful. If the Witch could stop Damon the way she had and protect Elijah the way the Girl from being impaled with a coat rack, Rose didn't want to know what the witch could do to her. This was something that she had never seen before, Rose scrambled to the other side of the car to get out, and when she opened the other door, she was faced with Elijah again. "Hello Rose, it's good to see you again."
Rose shifted to get away from him. She was scared she didn't want to end up like Trevor and have her head beaten off like a T-ball. She wasn't crazy enough to challenge him now, not with his Witch around. "E...Elijah! What, what do you want?"
Elijah looked at her interestedly, he didn't know what Sophie had planned for them, but it would be interesting. "You will not try to run. You will answer all questions, My daughter and I ask you; you will not leave us until I say so, buckle up and prepare yourself to leave with us."
Rose's Eye's Dilated as her brain accepted the compulsion. Damon tried to turn his head to see what was happening to Rose, but he was stuck like he'd been desiccated, but he hadn't been. This witch had some powerful Juju. Rose straightened herself up and buckled her seat belt. He turned his eyes back to the girl. His Daughter Elijah called her. Damon tried to glare at her, but like the rest of his body, his face was frozen too. When his eyes met hers, she once again said a single word he thought it might have been Latin. "Legilimens"
Sophie searched Damon's memories from when he was a child to the time he wanted to turn into a Vampire to be with Kathryn for eternity, then to the time, his brother forced him to drink blood, Finishing the transition. The memories transitioned into how he hated not only himself but his brother, how he had was trapped for 5 years by a group of humans named the Augustine's, how he and a Vampire named Enzo were experimented on. Sophie saw the years of tests and experiences that Damon and the Vampire Captive did to allow Damon to escape. She watched him turn off his humanity so that Damon could leave Enzo so the elder Salvatore could survive. Shortly after that, Damon discovered that Kathryn was alive and in the tomb and what Damon would have to endure to get her out. Sophie learned he was loyal until he wasn't. The oldest Salvatore brother cared until he didn't; Damon had killed other vampires for convenience. Sophie watched as he killed Lexi, his brother's best friend. She watched as Damon killed Vicki instead of helping her because none of Elena's group cared enough to save her beside Matt. But in turn, Sophie watched Elena and Stefan come to Caroline's rescue when he tried to kill her because the Young Blond was a part of the group.
Sophie saw how Kathryn once told him that she would never love him and that she never really had, so that made him crazy enough to kill the Doppelgängers brother by snapping his neck even though it was just his luck that he was wearing the Gilbert ring. While she was inside his mind, she took the opportunity to give him a personality transplant. Sophie spoke, pushing her Magic into her voice.
"You have been a Menace. Mr. Salvatore, your life has been nothing but pain. You kill harshly and unnecessarily; you care and hate in the same moment that will stop Mr. Salvatore. You will not kill. I'm placing the Cruciatus curse in your head. If you try to kill someone again in anger, revenge, or just because it is your desire, you will feed until the heart starts to slow, then you will stop, using this crystal to erase the memories of the person you feed on; then you will let them go you will only kill in self-defense."
She pulled out of his mind. Once she stepped away, Elijah took her place. He began compelling him to do the same as had Rose. Sophie canceled the Jinx and spell that held him bound, but she Cast the Langlock on him because she wasn't going to answer any of his questions just yet. Damon got in the S.U.V. in the Back seat beside Rose. He looked at her, and she looked at him. They were both suitably frightened, the passenger side door opened, and Slater climbed in after having been compelled with the exact instructions as the rest. Once everyone was seated and ready to go when they heard the worst thing possible from the little Witch.
"When we get to where we're going, I will put in their brains a command not to take Vervain so that they can always be compelled, then I will push my orders through your bloodline so that everyone you have sired will obey the same commands. and I'll do that to each of your siblings when we find them." She said in her trilling French accent.
Elijah looked at her and smiled chillingly. It was scary that Rose, Damon, and Slater could see Pride in his eyes. Who was this girl? And why was she telling an original what they were going to be doing? Who was she to command him? "That's a beautiful Idea, Mon Cher, shall we go?" she looked to the back seat to see them staring warily at her, then she said, as though it meant nothing at all that she had three captive Vampires in the back of Rose's car, and talking about taking Elijah's own S.U.V. as if it were take out.
"Not yet, Papa, we have to take care of your car. I'm sure you don't want to leave it here." She giggled when Rose squeaked in fright. They pulled up next to his car. She put up a notice-me-not ward, then held her hand out to his car and said, "Reducio," the three Vampires watched in amazement and fright, now realizing the enormity of her power and ability as the vehicle shrunk to toy size. She picked it up and dispelled the ward, then got back in the car. She held it out palm up for Elijah to take. He chuckled at her antics.
At Fell's Church in the Ruins, Elena was still alone listening to Kathryn speak about her time running from Klaus and how she had met Rose and tricked her into turning into a Vampire. When Elena looked at the tomb that Kathryn was in, she felt terrible that her Ancestor was stuck in there but not enough to plead and ask bonnie to get her out. Elena Gilbert then turned to grab the bottle of blood that she had brought with her; Elena wasn't going to leave Kathryn with it. Kathryn was weak now. It just how she wanted Kathryn, weak and suffering as she had been. She placed it in her bag, then she turned to go to leave.
That's when Stefan arrived; he'd caught on to Caroline's deception even though she hadn't come right out and said where Elena was, he could figure it out if Elena didn't want him interrupting her then. It was something that she thought he would disapprove of, and the only thing he could think about him disapproving of was her talking to Kathryn, so that where he looked first, and that was where she was. "Elena." He called as he got closer to the ruins entrance.
Elena looked up to the stairs to see Stephan in the entryway. She should have known Caroline wouldn't have been able to keep her mouth shut, but at least she got all the information she needed, hopefully. She looked up at him on the steps and asked. "Stefan, what are you doing here?"
He walked down the stairs stopping in front of her; his eyes penetrated hers, his ears listened to her heartbeat to determine if she'd lie to him. "I could ask you the same question."
Elena thrust out her hip to the side, folded her arms over her chest petulantly, then asked accusingly. "Caroline told you." She was so angry she could scream, why couldn't anyone just do as requested? Elena was a seventeen-year-old woman. For grace's sake, she could control her own life. Thank you very much.
Stefan folded his arms and took a defensive stance. He didn't like that she was accusing Caroline of betraying her friend, and hopefully, his glare would make that clear to her. "No, she kept your secret, but it didn't take long for me to figure out what was vital that you'd have to keep it from me."
Elena looked down at her feet and blushed contritely. Now she felt terrible for accusing Caroline of betraying her again when she actually hadn't either time, Elena would have done what Caroline had if the roles were reversed, but she didn't want to think about that now. She just mumbled out lamely. "I knew that you'd stop me."
Stefan walked forward and grabbed her cheek with his hand swiping his thumb across her cheekbone. "Listen to me. Whatever Kathryn said to you is a lie. Do not listen to her. She's a liar, Elena." He could understand her coming here and trying to get answers. He'd done the same thing when he had Kathryn tied up in the cellar. Still, the one glaring difference was that he wasn't going to be duped by Kathryn's half-truths, and he was a vampire. He was strong enough to take anything Kathryn gave him.
Elena began to tear up. She couldn't hold in her warring emotions and terror any longer. It had finally hit her that the oldest and most terrifying vampire to roam the earth was coming after her because Elena had Petrova blood. She leaned into his hand. "What if she isn't? You didn't hear what she said."
Stefan pulled her into a hug to give her comfort, then he spoke into her hair. He knew that he shouldn't give her false hope; Stefan had no idea what would soon come. Still, he was optimistic he had to be much of his life up till now was nothing but loneliness and pain. Elena brought his hope back, his desire for life. And he didn't want her to lose that either. "You don't have to worry. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you."
Elena pulled away from him, frustrated again at his saving people thing; why was it that they just couldn't let this happen to many people who have already died in a bid to save her? Why was she so special? Not that Elena didn't want to die. Far from it, she still had Aunt Jenna and Jeremy to think about. But if her death kept them safe and Stefan safe, her friends safe, then she would do it. "That's the problem, you won't, but you'll die trying. How's that any better?"
Katherine walked back to the front of the tomb, leaning up against the side, watching the lovey dove crap they displayed. "There's nothing you can do, Stefan. I haven't even told you the best part of the story. I went back to Bulgaria after my transition into a Vampire in 1492. Only to find dead people outside. I ran and found I was able to enter my home. Where I found my father dead pinned to the wall with a sword through his chest, then I saw my mother on my bed with her throat ripped out. And my sister, my sweet little sister was dead on the floor with all of her blood drained. He killed them, my entire family, just to get back at me for running. Whatever you do to escape Klaus, he will get his vengeance on your friends, your family, and anyone that you've ever loved."
Stefan looked at Elena and saw her swaying in horror and utter despair. She was at the breaking point. If he did nothing now, he would watch her jump off the precipice that she stood upon. The slightest breeze could either blow her back towards him or launch her forward, ever to be lost to him. He grabbed her so she doesn't faint. "No, look at me. No, do not listen to the Bitch, okay?"
Katherine sneered, angry that she couldn't get Stephan to love her how he loved Elena, mad that the Doppelganger got everything that she had ever wanted, friends, family, love. She would make Elena choke on it when she could. "Always the protector, but even you must realize that she's doomed. There's nothing you can do to stop it unless, of course, you have this." She showed them the moonstone and smirked at the predicament that she had placed them in. Yes, this was what she likes the most, having the upper hand, knowing that she held something vital and could only get it by making a deal with her.
Elena looked at her in surprise. "What?" she had forgotten that the moonstone was with Kathryn when they had placed her in the tomb those several days ago. They had thought themselves so clever, but now everything was just crumbling around them. They had nothing, honestly nothing. They were screwed.
Stefan then scoffed at Kathryn's exception. "Oh no, there it is. It's the ultimate lie, isn't it? You spun this whole thing so that we would have to get the stone from you, didn't you?" He couldn't believe that they were in this situation that they'd be beholden to her to stop the curse now.
Katherine rolled her eyes and drawled out. "I didn't spin anything, Stefan. It's the truth." Well, at least a small part of a larger truth, but they weren't going to know everything yet; she'd been waiting for five hundred years at a chance for freedom, now it was all coming together.
Stefan shook his head, Vehemently angrily stepping toward her. "No, let me guess. You want to trade that stone for your freedom, you manipulative, psychotic bitch." He would not allow Kathryn to dangle Elena's freedom in front of her like that is it was cruel, and he hated her more than ever now.
Katherine then denied the allegation it definitely wasn't part of the plan right now. "My freedom? That's where you're wrong, Stefan. I don't want my freedom because when Klaus shows up to kill us all and he will, I'll be in the tomb, where no vampire will enter. After all, they can't get out. I'll be the safest psychotic bitch in town." And wasn't that just the best thing to say when she was spoiling all his ill-conceived plans for being the hero? Being a hero wasn't good. It just makes you compromise yourself. Others died so you could fulfill a mission that regular people had no part in. Heroes cause people to die for them, everything for the greater good. Stefan was no hero. He was just someone that couldn't accept the inevitable.
Elijah and Sophie had driven Damon, Rose, and slater flat slater had been living in for the last 24 years. Slater knew that Elijah wouldn't be able to go in because his girlfriend held the flat title. But what Slater didn't consider was that Elijah's witch daughter could get in quite easily. Sophie opened the door with her unlocking Charm. The three kidnapped Vampires stood there stunned and speechless as she waved her hand and unlocked the door walking in as if it were her own house as if there were no obstacles before her. Sophie cast Homenum Revelio. A light flashed in the direction of the bedroom. She wandered over that way. She got there and was faced with a woman standing in the closet. Alice, Slater's girlfriend, had her back towards Sophie. She was looking down at the dresses that she had chosen. She didn't notice that it wasn't her boyfriend Slater that was standing in the room. "Slater Baby, which one do you think is better for tonight at the club, the green or the violet?"
Sophie interrupted by saying, "Bonjour Madame," the unfamiliar voice startled the distracted woman. Alice looked up and looked around to see if Slater was with the stranger. "Who are you?" Sophie didn't answer; she just cast the confundus charm. Once the woman got her barring again, Sophie stepped up to her. And asked, "You are Madame Alice, are you not?"
The girl nodded; Sophie grabbed her by the elbow to steady her. She was looking all around the room in a confused and disoriented sort of way. "Monsieur Slater invited my associate and me to come and look and add to his files."
Alice nodded, and they both walked into the front room where the door was, and before Alice knew what was happening, she was thrust into Damon's arms. He looked at the Young witch in surprise and fear. Sophie spoke in a demanding tone full of authority, and he could feel her magic winding and twist within him from when she saw all of his memories. "Feed on her, tell us if she has Vervain in her system, then when you're done, I want you to try and kill her. I would like Rose and Slater to see what will happen if they dare to kill any human without cause just to save their own lives. Without the compulsion to provoke a fight, Know this, Damon, you will not be able to kill them in an elaborate trick to "Save your life" the threat must be an actual threat of their own thoughts, and design the spell will recognize the difference."
Damon followed the instructions he was given, and without another thought, he bit into her neck and began drinking. Elijah concluded that when he didn't stop, she didn't have Vervain in her, so Damon continued to drink. When the heart started to slow, Damon kept drinking to the point of death. He suddenly threw Alice towards Sophie, who caught her. Sophie watched the workings of her Magic as it worked through his mind and body. It was the worst pain he could ever remember. It was worse than when Bonnie put her Witchy Juju on him. They were all aware the noise would bring unwanted attention so, Sophie cast a muffling charm.
