AUTHOR'S ANNOUNCEMENT:

I have received some enlightening reviews concerning how I handled Richard's integration into beacon academy, and so I've revised the last chapter to change his role. He's now a Teacher! *Insert automated applause*

Make sure to reread the last chapter to understand the story a bit better. I constantly check and consider each review, so that I can improve the reading experience for all of you! Thanks so much for the 2,546 reads!

Richard had already set up his classroom, and it was piled with different texts, notebooks, weapons hung up on racks, artifacts, and even alien biological samples he had collected. He was currently gathering the notes and documents he planned to share with the class, which were translated to low gothic so that they could at least understand the material. The bell began to ring, and students had already begun to wander in, many looking at all the weapons, artifacts, and alien parts preserved in multiple different spots.

"Welcome welcome! Please, take a seat, I'll begin in a moment. Make yourselves comfortable, and prepare your notebooks for some note-taking." He was wearing his old Inquisition standard uniform, complete with stovepipe hat, which was set down on the desk, next to a very alive and angry head of a Necron Triarch Praetorian. The thing wasn't talking, but it glared angrily at the students, some of whom became nervous.

Ruby and Weiss both decided to join the class, Ruby due to her newfound fascination with Imperial tech, and Weiss with her sharpened business sense, both wanting to learn more about the wider galaxy. They sat down close to the front, Ruby bouncing up and down in her seat, and Weiss huffing furiously as she tried to calm her team leader down.

Finally, Richard stood up and looked at the rest of the class. "Welcome! I am glad you chose to study the many wonderful and dangerous things out in the wider galaxy! I will be your guide to the many basic organizations and factions within the Imperium, as well as the non-classified enemies you may encounter should you travel away from Remnant. Before we begin, I'd like to ask how many of you have combat experience with anything other than Grimm?"

Only 2 raised their hands, Ruby and Weiss. "Alright, is it okay to ask what exactly you've fought before?"

Weiss spoke first, her haughty attitude still intact. "I have fought with several members of the Atlas military in sparring as well as actual duels. My combat experience is much higher than-"

"But have you killed someone before?"

"W-what?" Weiss's confidence was broken.

"I'll ask again, have you legitimately taken someone's life?"

"N-no. Why would I need to?"

Richard frowned, but nodded his head empathetically. "I see. I myself have personally killed… maybe around more than 4,000 people. Though I always brought back up, and they rack up more kills than I." The class started to whisper among themselves, rumors being created by the second, but all went silent when Richard held up his hand.

"Alright. I have two guests I want to show you. One is Nezach here, and the other is heading over to the classroom now." He points to the Triarch's skull, who is balefully gazing at the class. "Now, Nezach here is a member of the Necrons. This is the point where you take notes by the way." The class fumbled to start taking notes, and the Lord Inquisitor waited for everyone to get themselves ready. "Alright, the Necrons are robotic xenos, dating back millions of years. They are possibly one of the greatest threats we currently face. They desire to destroy all life, but also to restore what once was theirs."

One of the students raised their hands.

"Yes?" said Richard.

"Why do they desire to destroy all life?"

"An excellent question, but a difficult one to answer. The Necrons supposedly were once organic lifeforms, but for one reason or another went to a galaxy-shattering war with another race, during which they became the metal legions of death they are now. They've only begun to resurface recently, and there is still not much we know about them. But one thing is for certain, they are incredibly hostile to any living being, destroying worlds and even eradicating all life on their tomb worlds, whether that be plant, animal, microbe, or really anything for that matter. So to answer your question, we're not really sure at the moment, but what we do know is their hostility."

Ruby raised her hand in response to this answer.

"Yes?"

"So if the Necrons are a great threat, then how dangerous is the galaxy right now?"

Richard did not like that question. He didn't like it at all, but he still had to answer it, it was his job, and neither was it classified or restricted either, people knew and yet continued to fight just as hard.

He breathed in and exhaled calmly. "This galaxy is not a safe place. We are at endless war with billions of enemies, and every day we continue to lose and gain back territory in an endless struggle to survive. The reason why I am teaching you this class is so that you can be better prepared for the future, so that you can protect each other and your homes better than if you had no knowledge of what I and the Imperium face each day. I want all of you to be prepared for what might come to your planet in the future, so that you may stand a chance."

The classroom stood silent in understandable worry and maybe even hints of fear. Richard's stern yet comforting expression when he noticed their trepidation told them they were in good hands, and many began to relax once again. "As long as you take to heart my lessons, I can guarantee you will not be unprepared when you face any of the things I will teach you about. I will make sure that all of you are ready for the future, whatever it brings."

A hard knock rang on the door, and Ruby nearly jumped out of her seat in fear, but Richard looked confident once again, and she relaxed, but not before noticing that Weiss had also had the same reaction. She whispered smugly to her teammate: "Scared?"

"N-no! You nearly jumped out of your seat and into the ceiling."

"So did you."

"When did you get so confident?"

Richard spoke once again, his lips curled into a smile. "I have brought multiple texts on basic xenos biology, translated to low gothic of course, but tomorrow, we will start on teaching you the basics of high gothic so we can read much more important and interesting texts later in the year."

The class began to pack up their bags, but Richard raised his hand. "Before you go, a final message. Whether you be faunus or human, we all have the same job. I work to protect the people of the Imperium, and now you are learning how to protect Remnant. Our jobs are the same, except for the ways we go about doing our duties. An Inquisitor and their agents must do things that a hunter would never consider because our enemies would do the same in a heartbeat, and without regret. You may go now, and have a good rest of the day." The students finished packing up their bags, and headed out the door, with Goodwitch managing to get through the crowd and to Richard's desk.

"Ah, Miss Goodwitch. Good to see you! Something you need?" Richard smiled warmly. He liked Miss Goodwitch, she had a sense of responsibility and of right and wrong, nor was she as ambiguous as Ozpin. It was really her hard moral beliefs and willpower that made him admire her. Such qualities make a responsible and caring ruler, capable of keeping people safe and weathering the hardest storms.

"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to share a coffee some time, and maybe talk about some of the finer details about your curriculum."

Richard gave her a big grin. "So you want to go on a date then, is that it?"

Goodwitch, for all her cold demeanour, actually smiled at his jest. "Yes, I wasn't sure you'd get it, but it seems that you're more suave than I thought."

If you could enter Richard's mind at that moment, you would hear the breaking of glass and reverberation of incessant cursing. His joke was actually right, and now he realised that maybe this is a chance to rekindle the old embers that once was his love life. His mind started drifting to Her, but those thoughts would direct Her attention to himself. He quickly wiped them from his mind, and hoped that She hadn't noticed.

"So, when are you available this week?"

"Oh, um, this Friday most likely, if I don't have many reports to sift through."

"I'll be picking the place, which will stay a surprise. I expect to meet you in your best attire."

"I always dress for the occasion anyways. I'll see you then."

"Don't forget that you don't have a scroll, but the council was happy to provide one for you anyways." She hands him a small tablet-like device, and he takes it, examining it in his hands and quickly figuring out the controls as well as the features.

"Thank you, I'm guessing you've already put down your contact info on it, Miss Goodwitch?"

"Call me Glynda, and yes, I have." She confidently strode out of his classroom, leaving an over 400 year old man to think about the mess he's gotten himself into.

Author's note:

Hey! Thanks for reading towards the end of the chapter. The reason why my chapters are so short is because I tend to write quick and edit quickly with shorter passages, while still maintaining an ok quality. It's just my writing style, but that means I get to write a ton of chapters for you guys.

Side note: I am planning for a sequel to this series, but I'll get to that later. I've got to start on the Glynda and Richard ship now, and I want the RWBY community to help me with the ship name, since there are so many well thought out names out there, and I think the concept is cool.

Thanks for all of the people who've read the series so far and have followed/favourited it, also the people who've given reviews!
