A Close Call And A Sacrifice Worth Making

Okay ladies and gentlemen of Fanfiction! This is the second last chapter in this spin off, before I begin planning my last spin off "A Family's Acceptance' which will include characters Alex and Siax, and everyone's favourite couple Blu and Jewel! The reason why this is the last spin off, is because by the time that they return from Egypt and they are back home…things aren't exactly going to be what they expected! But then again…do you really predict what happens in the story? Not unless I tell you haha! But anyway…let's now witness one of the most important chapters in not only this spin off, but the entire saga! Let's get down to it my friends!

"TOMADA! YOU HAVE TO FLY FASTER! WE AREN'T GOING TO MAKE IT!" Helena shouted in fear as she kept looking behind them, to see that Félix and Rodrigo were still pursuing them at full speed. "Oh god! We aren't going to make it!"

"Not with that attitude! Come on honey! Let's get to that airport!" Raul shouted in response as they started picking up the pace and they were only minutes away from their destination.

Félix was trying to fly faster, even though he was panting and sweating! But the blood lust for revenge is fuelling him to fly faster. "YOU'RE GOING TO DIE HELENA! ALL OF YOU WILL DIE!"

"Oh shit…he really isn't happy is he?" Cabot remarked as he continued to hang onto Tomada's back for dear life. "How are we going to get on the plane with him following us?"

"Don't worry! Beltran has that covered for us!" Tomada shouted back as he turned his head to see Félix picking up the pace. "I bleeding hope he does this right!"

Meanwhile…

"Rock, Paper, Scissors…SHOOT!" Sorrel and Kelly chorused as they both sat on the roof of the airport playing Rock Paper Scissors! But what was annoying, was that Kelly won five times in a row! Making Sorrel pretty annoyed with this game.

"No fair! You always win!" Sorrel whined as she stood up onto her talons, and crossed her wings. "I don't want to play anymore!"

"Okay…no need to be a sore loser!" Kelly giggled as she tried to give her friend a hug, but the blue spix's female just turned away from her.

"I'm not a sore loser! I just don't get how this game was invented?" She stomped on the floor like a spoilt child and crossed her wings.

"Come on…best two out of three?" Kelly proposed as she clenched her wing into rock.

"Ughhhh…Why can't we just play I spy?" Sorrel asked as she crossed her wings.

"Okay…I spy your…husband…flying at a…very…panicked rate?" Kelly wondered in curiosity as she saw that Tomada and Raul were approaching them very rapidly. "Erm…why are they flying so fast?"

"I don't know? Maybe it's because..." Sorrel didn't get a chance to finish her sentence, as she tried to hear what her husband was screaming.

"GET ON THE PLANE!" Tomada screamed as he kept flapping his wings very vigourously.

"What? What did you say?" Jameson shouted back as he he saw them edging closer to the airport.

"GET! ON! THE! PLANE!" Elenor screamed as she cupped her wings together while still being held in Tomada's talons.

"WHAT?!" Sorrel, Jameson and Kelly chorused at the same time.

"GET ON THE FUCKING PLANE!" Helena screamed in anger as she jumped off of Tomada's back and flew alongside Raul.

"Oh shit! We have to get on the plane!" Sorrel shouted in concern as she turned towards Beltran. "Order your family to stop stalling! We need to get on the plane!"

"What now? Oh shit!" Beltran cursed as he flew towards the plane to get his family to back off.

"Come on! Come on! GO! GO! GO!" Cabot chorused as he kept tapping the back of Tomada's neck, making him groan in annoyance.

"I'm not a horse! I'm a falcon!" He shouted as they got closer to the plane. "Okay, the door is open! Let's get inside!"

"Okay! Wait…where did Félix go?" Raul asked curiously as he turned his head around to see that Félix and Rodrigo were no longer following them.

Tomada placed Elenor down on the roof, and Helena, Raul and Cabot landed besides him. Looking around in confusion.

"I swear they were just behind us?" Cabot remarked as he started scratching the back of his head in confusion.

"I don't know what's going on! But let's just get out of here before…LOOK OUT!" Sorrel screamed as she picked up what looked like a metal crowbar and stuck it in front of Helena's face. Blocking an incoming attack from Rodrigo.

"Well hello there pretty lady! You got more spunk than I thought!" The scarlet macaw winked at her, making Tomada screech and swat the muscular scarlet male away. Making him land flat on his back.

"Don't you talk to my wife like that! You lot, get on the plane! I will stall him for a little while!" The falcon responded as he picked up his Tomahawk from his bag, and he threw it towards the scarlet macaw.

What was surprising about this, was the fact that Rodrigo saw this coming and dodged out of the way.

Then he picked up the tomahawk and started smacking it into his wing. "Ha! You missed me falcon boy! Now…prepare to see your little lady friend…PERISH!"

With one swift motion he threw the tomahawk back vigorously towards Sorrel who closed her eyes expecting the worst.

Until…

Beltran jumped in front of the female spix's macaw and blocked the attack with a shield that was big enough for even a canary. Then he picked up the tomahawk and tossed it to Tomada who caught it instantly.

"Okay! My family are done stalling! You all have to leave right now!" The Spanish dove beamed as he pulled out what looked like a scimitar sword, and aimed it at Rodrigo. "GO! I'll be fine!"

Tomada and Sorrel didn't even ask twice and flew away from the Spanish dove. However, Kelly, Jameson and Cabot still stood strong with Elenor.

"All of you!"

"We aren't leaving you Beltran! We can fight them together!" Jameson proposed as he took a step forwards with his baseball bat, but Elenor pulled him back.

"Don't be so stupid Jameson! We are going now!" Cabot announced as he took off in the same direction as Tomada and Sorrel.

The black owl sighed in defeat and placed a wing on his shoulder. "Please…don't risk your life doing this!"

Beltran could only smile at him in response and placed a wing on his shoulder. "Go home Jameson amigo! Live your life! Love your wife!"

"And now I'm going to be sick!" Everyone looked behind Rodrigo, to see Félix standing there with a cocky smile on his beak.

Making the birds from Rio step back in fear, as he approached them so slowly.

"What do you guys think you are doing leaving us so very soon? We haven't got the chance to be properly acquainted?" He chuckled maliciously as he landed in front of the group of birds, narrowing his eyes at Beltran. "Beltran Rodriguez! It's been a long time since I've seen the likes of you? Now you are protecting the Rio birds? How precious!"

"Guys…get the fuck out of here! I'm dealing with him now!" Beltran whispered to the group behind him, as he gripped his wing tighter on his scimitar.

As they all turned around and flapped their wings to leave, Helena still stood there and looked at her father with so much love in her eyes, that it made him ache.

"Daddy…" Was all she could muster…as she was fighting her own tears.

"Baby girl…I'm sorry it has to be like this! I love you so much!" Beltran whispered as he too tried to fight back tears. He then quickly turned around to see Félix swinging his machete at him. Making him block his attack and he kicked him away. "GO NOW!"

"But…" Helena tried to protest, but a certain falcon cut her off.

"GUYS! THE PLANE IS LEAVING SOON! LET'S GO!" Tomada screamed in a panic as he flew back over to Helena and grasped her in his talons. "I'm sorry Helena! But everyone is waiting on the plane!"

"NOOO! NOOOO! DAAAAD!" Helena screamed in agony, as she saw the figure of her father moving further and further away from her. "DADDY!"

"I know Helena…I know!" Tomada whispered in sadness as he got closer to the plane and quickly dove inside, placing the saddened female dove in between Elenor and Raul. "Okay! Everyone is here!"

"NO! WE CAN'T LEAVE HIM!" Helena kept shouting while trying to get back outside.

But before she could even try, the cargo door slammed shut. Revealing only a small window, where she could still see her father fighting Felix and Rodrigo.

Back To The Fight…

Rodrigo went to slash him from the side, but he performed a back flip and threw a knife at the scarlet macaw. Causing him to dodge swiftly, and go for another attack.

"I'm getting too old for this!" Beltran whispered to himself, as he dodged his incoming attack.

But what he didn't see, was that Félix stood behind him…and plunged his machete deep into his back.

"AHHHHHHHHH!" The Spanish dove screamed in agony, and dropped to his knees.

Rodrigo then cursed as he walked up to him, and placed his butcher knife on Beltran's throat, smiling maliciously at him.

"Hahahaha! Good job old man! You just made your death so much easier to deal with!" Rodrigo chuckled as he kicked Beltran in the face, making him fall onto his back.

As he laid there…he started coughing up some blood. And it started running down his chest feathers. He knew that this was it for him!

"Tut tut tut Beltran! You just had to stick your beak in other bird's business didn't you?" Felix chuckled as he twirled his machete around in his wing. "Now you will pay the price! And when we are done with you…RDJ…and his Rio friends are going to perish!"

The Plane…Moving Slowly On The Runway…

Helena continued to stare out of the window, with nothing but sadness and pain in her heart.

She continued to stare as she saw that her father was laying on his back in agony, and it made her suffer inside.

"First Sergio…now my dad! How many more people have to die?!" Helena cried as she didn't take her eyes off of her dad.

Back To The Fight…

"Well? Do you have anything you want to say before we cut you down?" Felix spoke up as he leaned in closer to hear what he had to say.

"F…F…F…" Beltran kept stuttering as he continued to cough up some more blood.

"What? Forgive me? Fighting is for wimps? Fuck your wife? What are you trying to say?" Felix picked Beltran up by the scruff of his feathers and continued to smirk maliciously.

The weakened Beltran coughed several times, and weakly smiled at the scarlet macaw. Then with one deep breath. He spoke these last few words.

"For years…The assassins have tried to kill Armando and his thugs for years…Cough! Cough!...Now thanks to you Félix! For training RDJ…he will kill you! And your army! And then…the world will be free! So Félix…because of you…your army will lose this war!" Beltran chuckled in amusement as he spat blood at Felix's face, making him wipe the red liquid off of his beak.

"Not bad…but now…it's time for you to die!" The scarlet macaw didn't even think twice as he plunged the knife deep into Beltran's chest. But what was disturbing about this…was the fact that when he pulled the knife out…his heart was pulled out too! "Ewwww! This is not what I wanted to see!" He cringed as he shook it off his knife, then he spat on Beltran's corpse, before flying away with Rodrigo by his side.

"Master…what are we going to do now? We can't just let them go back to Rio? We need to hit them while we can?" Rodrigo made a valid point to his master, who placed a wingtip on his chin to think as he was flying.

"Don't worry…I've already sent one of my men there earlier today to give word to Thomas that we will be arriving the next day!" Félix replied evilly as he flew off with him. "Soon…RDJ will finally fall by my wings! And the assassin order will be destroyed…forever!"

As the two scarlet macaws flew away…the family of doves slowly made their way over to Beltran…who laid there motionless on the roof of the airport.

The children covered their faces with their wings, and started sobbing loudly while their parents hugged them from behind.

Beltran's wife slowly walked up to her deceased husband…and closed his eyes with her wing. Then she whispered in a soft tone while trying to hold back her tears. "Goodnight mi amor! You have earned your rest! Rest in peace my love!"

She knelt down on the side of his body, and buried her face in his chest feathers.

Beltran was no more…Felix had taken another life from this world…but it's not about who he takes…it's about who could stop him!

Back On The Plane…

Helena watched on as she saw her father laying there motionless on that roof. As the plane finally took to the skies. And the figure of her father finally disappeared from her sight…and the only thing she could do…was grieve.

"Daddy…no…not you too?!" She softly spoke, as she started to sniff and cough in between sobs.

Raul saw that Helena was suffering on the inside…and he too knew the feeling of suffering! The day that his cousin was murdered by Omar!

The white hawk slowly walked up behind her, and wrapped both of his wings around her for comfort. But what he wasn't expecting, was for Helena to immediately turn around and bury her face in his chest feathers. Dampening his feathers with her constant tears.

"Oh Raul…why did this have to happen?! Why did my father have to die?!" She cried in despair, as she continued to sob into his chest.

"I don't know Helena! But we are gonna make Felix pay for this!" He softly replied as he started rubbing her back affectionately. While resting his chin on top of her head, making soothing humming noises to calm her down.

(He starts humming a tune to a song that he will be singing in the future sequel 'The Adventures Of The Samba Club 2')

"Oh Raul! That's beautiful humming! Thank you for saving my life! I love you so much!" Helena lifted her head up, and smiled at him. While the tears kept streaming down her face.

Raul used his right wing to wipe away her tears, and then pulled her in for a passionate kiss. Which luckily for him managed to calm her down. And she felt like all the stress had just washed away.

"I would do anything to protect you Helena! And I swear to you…Felix is going to pay for what he did! You mark my words!" He spoke with determination after they parted from the kiss. "We have to warn RDJ that Felix is alive! Plus…we are going to need a bigger army!"

"Thank you…Now…I think I need to get some sleep!" The female dove spoke as she sat down against a fluffy yellow suitcase, and gazed up at a smiling Raul. "Well honey? You going to keep standing there looking sexy? Or are you going to join me!"

"Okay sweetie…I'll keep standing here and looking sexy!" Raúl joked as he did a body builder pose to make her laugh. Which in fact managed to make her giggle in amusement.

"Come on now! Stop fooling around! Let's get some shut eye!" Helens then pulled Raul down gently, then he laid down flat on his back, and Helena rested her head on his belly. Getting all comfy as they laid down together. "Goodnight Raul!"

"Goodnight my angel!" The male white hawk softly replied, as he closed his eyes too. And the two of them slowly fell asleep! Leaving the others in the cargo hold wide awake.

"Well…she is awfully tired for a pregnant girl?" Tomada remarked as he leaned up against the wall, with Sorrel sitting just besides him…moving her wingtip up and down the note that Beltran gave her. Which of course gained the attention of her falcon husband. "Hey? What's that in your wing?"

"Oh…this? It's nothing to worry about honey! Come on, let's sleep too!" Sorrel tried to avoid talking about this, as she turned away from him.

"Honey…what is that? You can tell me? If you attempted to write then I wouldn't judge you if your talon writing was terrible?"

"What?" She asked him curiously and arched a confused eyebrow.

"Clearly there is something on that note that you don't want to talk about? So why are you hiding it from me? I thought that husbands and wives are supposed to share everything?"

"Look Tomada…it's a note that Beltran gave me before he…you know?" The blue spix's female tried to avoid talking about what just happened, considering the fact that Helena was only a mere few paces away from where they were sitting. "It's a note from…RDJ's actual father to him!"

"What…are you…are you being serious? His dad wrote that note for him? But…surely that would mean…" Tomada was trying to piece together an answer for the note that Sorrel was carrying…but Elenor cut into the conversation and beat him to it.

"Leandro knew that he was going to die in Rio!" She softly confirmed their suspicions, and looked at the expressions on their faces that shows that they were beyond shocked. "See, I can tell by the looks on your faces that you didn't expect that?"

"No!" Both of them simultaneously responded as they stood up onto their feat and stared at the scarlet female.

"Should we…read it?" Tomada suggested as Sorrel passed the note to him, but as he was about to open it up, Elenor snatched it out of his wing. "Hey! We can't just stand around here and not see what was in the note? It could be the key to us winning this war? So hand it over!"

"Tomada…this is a private note for RDJ! You can't just read it without his consent! You would not only be betraying a friend, but you'd be betraying the entire assassin order!"

"Who is betraying who?" The trio of birds turned around to see the trio of owls approaching them. All three of them gazing at the note In Elenor's wings.

"Look, we don't have to tell him that we read it? We just want to know what it says! Because we need to know what it could take for us to win this war!" The falcon beamed as he took the note back from the scarlet macaw female, who only sighed in defeat.

"Fine! But if he does find out that we read it, it will be on your wings! Not mine!" Elenor gave into the male falcon's suspicions.

"Okay…here goes nothing!" Tomada spoke to the others, as he carefully unfolded the note in his wings. And at first he decided to read it to himself, as Martin and Blu taught him how to read. Which still annoys Sorrel when he talks about it in his sleep.

"Well? What does it say?" Sorrel asked him sweetly as she placed a wing on his shoulder.

Tomada froze in fear for a moment…as he read the words on the note that was written by RDJ's father. But what was in the note itself…made him start to feel very anxious.

"Tomada? Buddy? Are you okay?" Jameson added as he went to take the note away from him. But before he could, he folded the note back up and gave it back to Elenor.

"It's not important! I was silent because…I Erm…couldn't read the words properly! Okay…goodnight!" The falcon quickly spoke, and laid on the floor and closed his eyes.

Elenor, Sorrel, Jameson, Kelly and Cabot blinked their eyes in confusion when seeing him act so strangely. Then Elenor decided that it was probably best that nobody else read that note.

"Okay…I think he was probably scared to think that we would judge him if he couldn't read! So I think it's safe to say that I will give the note to my mentor when we arrive back in Rio!" The scarlet female ordered as she placed the note in her bag, and placed it in the zipped up compartment so nobody would be able to read it.

"But what if something was in that note? Something that might have scared Tomada so much that he had to stop reading?" Cabot suggested, and scratched the back of his head unsurely. "I mean…I've never seen Tomada act that way before? I think there is definitely something in that note!"

"Well I don't care! We shouldn't have opened it! Now, everyone get some sleep for the plane ride home! Then I will head to the old guild in Rio! I suppose that's where RDJ is probably working?" Elenor asked innocently, as she got herself into a comfy position to sleep.

"Actually…he's staying with his girlfriend in her hollow! She found it after she too moved to Rio!" Sorrel responded quickly, before joining her husband in a peaceful slumber.

"Of course he is!" Elenor groaned, feeling a little more jealous about the fact that RDJ is now in a relationship with someone else and not her. "Damnit! If only I wasn't so pushy!" She thought to herself, before curling herself into a ball and laid her head on a pillow from one of the suitcases.

The trip of owls also got into a sleeping position themselves.

Cabot decided to sleep on top of a suitcase in the corner of the cargo hold. Even though this suitcase smelled like it was dragged through the mud. "Eww…this is gonna make me gag!" He thought to himself before drifting off to sleep.

Jameson and Kelly themselves decided to sleep in each other's wings next to Tomada and Sorrel, as the four of them cuddled up together in warmth.

As the whole room fell into a complete silence, and everyone was thought to be asleep peacefully…Tomada has his eyes wide open. Because he was thinking about what he had just read. It was like a nightmare had been written onto a piece of paper…and it was shown to him by force.

"No…No it can't be? There…There is no way that it's him! There's just no way…" He whispered to himself as he tried to close his eyes and fall asleep. But before he could…he only mustered one final sentence. "There is just no way…no way that he would betray us!"

Now…I bet you weren't expecting that were you? Beltran has joined the world of the dead, and our Rio friends have safely made their way back into the plane to Rio! But poor Beltran and his family…falling to the likes of Felix! The bird who betrayed his own ways to kill a fellow assassin! Raul and Helena are now in love, as they return to Rio in the hopes of preparing to avenge their fallen loved ones! But the main questions are…what is in that note that Leandro wrote for his son? What did Tomada see that scared him so much? And…who is the bird that will supposedly betray them? All will be revealed in the future sequel! By the way, this isn't the last chapter! There is still one more that I have to share with you! But he warned…This chapter will have a huge impact on the future sequel! So make sure that you read every detail to the max! I will see you all soon for the final chapter!
