The Kamehameha Wave
"Is that Bulma lady your girlfriend?"
"What?" Vegito shouted, "No, of course not!"
"So you're single then."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing," Chi-Chi giggled.
Rolling his eyes, Vegito thought, "Is this all girls think about?"
Nimbus swooped down, carrying the two onto the small island below. After leaping off, Vegito had to help Chi-Chi clamber her way down, too. "Who goes there?" Master Roshi's voice sounded as the old geezer burst from his home, trying to look intimidating.
"Eek!" Chi-Chi squealed, "A wrinkly monster!"
Then, she fired the spike in her helmet at the old man. As it lodged into his forehead, he fell backwards. "That... was Master Roshi," Vegito corrected her.
Chi-Chi went pale. Before she could start profusely apologising, Roshi was back on his feet. He plucked the blade from his noggin and threw it back at his attacker. She braced, only for the weapon to fit itself back into her costume. "I didn't mean--"
"No trouble, kiddo," Roshi nursed the cut on his face, "Although calling me a wrinkly monster was awfully hurtful. So, did you find all those Balls yet, boy?"
"Nah," Vegito answered. "We need that fan you have. What was it called, again?"
"The Bansho Fan?" Roshi stroked his beard.
"That's the one."
"We need it to put out the fires on Fire Mountain, Master Roshi!" Chi-Chi announced.
"Fire Mountain, eh? That would make you ol' Ox's daughter. Anything for an old friend. I'll see if I can dig it up somewhere."
"This guy trained my dad?" Chi-Chi dropped her respectful tone as Roshi meandered back into his pink cabin.
Shrugging, Vegito added, "And I guess he trained my gramps, too."
"He must be stronger than he looks."
The Turtle Hermit returned soon after, with no fan in tow. "Sorry, kids," he sighed, "I must've thrown it out."
"Thrown it out?" Chi-Chi repeated, stunned. "That fan was the only thing that could put out the flames on dad's castle!" she yelled.
"I remember now - I spilt soup on it, so I threw it away."
Chi-Chi collapsed in disbelief. "You could prolly just wait for it to rain, right?" Vegito offered.
"Actually, I could still help," Roshi added, "This old man's still got a few tricks up his sleeve. Nimbus!"
A dark purple cloud, much like Vegito's own, descended from above. It sputtered out dark smoke as it came to a stop, almost like it was coughing. It shook out black smoke, which curled up and into Roshi's nostrils. He spluttered, then said, "Well? Let's go."
. . .
Roshi's mode of transportation seemed right at home amongst the ruin that Fire Mountain found itself in. The old-timer stepped down from his cloud, surveying the flames - which reflected themselves in his round glasses. "What a sight," he remarked.
"Oh good, you found him!" Ox King beamed as soon as Vegito dismounted his own Nimbus, followed by Chi-Chi. "Master, you're a Kami-send!"
Master Roshi responded with something of a cough, then locked eyes with Bulma. "Heh," he chuckled, "If I knew you'd be here, I'd have hurried along."
Bulma turned away.
"Anyways, I can't help but notice those flames ruining your skyline."
"Oh, yes! Please tell me you've brought the Bansho Fan with you!"
Roshi shifted for a moment, then said, "Nope! I've got something twice as good. Who needs a fan anyway? Here, hold this for me."
The old man took off his orange shirt, handing it to Ox King, who respectfully folded it over his forearm. Roshi - who was indeed as skinny as one might assume - climbed up onto an elevated shard of rubble, then stomped like a sumo wrestler. "What's he gonna do? Perv on it until it goes out?" Bulma remarked.
Then, the wind picked up - carrying the ashen dust back towards the mountain in swift gusts. Roshi puffed his chest and curled his fists, letting out a rough shout that gradually grew into a roar. He seemed to be getting taller, too. Suddenly, his spindly frame burst into a set of huge muscles that matched his new height.
"Ka..." Roshi clasped his hands out in front of him, then drew them back to his right hip in a wide arc. "Ha..." an orb of energy formed in his palms a colour somewhere between silver and blue. "Ha... Me..." he continued, a blinding aura shining around him, rippling and moving like a wild animal.
"Ha!"
The following energy blast was enough to light up the entirety of Fire Mountain. It ripped through the air as Roshi's onlookers watched on in awe. Vegito in particular watched the shape rocket towards the mountain with amazed eyes. There came a deafening explosion as the beam made contact with the mountain, sending the towering mound up in a cyan explosion.
When the light cleared, Roshi was back to normal and he'd put his shirt back on. Thankfully. Ox King's jaw couldn't possibly have gotten any lower, and Chi-Chi was still covering her eyes. "Oops," Roshi chuckled, looking at where Fire Mountain used to be. In its place now was a flat plateau riddled with even more rubble than before. "At least there's no fire anymore," he added, trying to be optimistic.
"Did you see that, Bulma?" Vegito turned to speak to his companion, only to find her gone, "Bulma?"
Meanwhile, Bulma was digging through the remnants of the mountain, Dragon Radar in hand. As Vegito made his way over, he saw her stand, dust herself off, and hold up the second-to-last Dragon Ball. "We got it," she sighed.
"Did you see that attack, though?"
"How could I not?" Bulma puffed her cheeks, navigating the ruins back to Ox King, "Sorry about your castle."
"Eh," he shrugged, "We could probably have a new one built by next week."
"Oh goo-"
"Ka... me... ha... me..."
Turning, the group spotted Vegito standing before he and Bulma's red car in the same stance that Roshi had used to fire his energy wave. "Ha!" he yelled, pushing his hands forward. However, no such energy wave surfaced. Disappointed, Vegito looked down at his palms.
Roshi made his way over, chuckling. "Don't feel too bad, my boy. It took me years upon years to learn the Kamehameha Wave. And just saying the words won't do it. You have to reach inside and push all of your energy out in that focused spot," he instructed.
"I'll try again," Vegito decided, reassuming the same stance. "Kamehameha!" he repeated.
Bulma's car was reduced to dust in less than a second by Vegito's beam - the force of which sent him skidding backwards along the ground and threw Roshi off his feet. It managed to dwarf Roshi's attack, too - and turned the empty space that was once Fire Mountain into a jagged valley that reached deep down into the Earth.
"Holy shit!" Bulma shouted as Vegito stopped firing, laughing to himself. From afar, Yamcha dipped back behind his cover, having watched the whole thing.
