Notes: inspired by a conversation with my friend Sesh. A short and fluffy little scene that takes place after my other piece The Fox's Wedding, which i also worked on with a friend a while ago, but nobody needs any context for understanding this. Enjoy.

I'll Carry You

It was still daylight when they arrived back in the Seireitei. Unfortunately that meant a lot.9f people traffic and noise greeting them when they stepped through the portal to the human realm, none of which Gin was very pleased about. Especially after such an idyllic and peaceful time away. A much needed holiday together that'd ended up a honeymoon after a very spur of the moment decision. But it was one of the best decisions he'd ever made. And he was sure Sousuke felt the same way.

He was glad when they finally arrived back home, away from all the people and noise. He was more than ready for a cup of tea and a sit down. So much so that he sighed heavily as he stood on the porch, watching Sousuke fish in his pocket for his keys.

"Tired?" Sousuke grinned at him.
"Mm," Gin nodded. "S'been a long day. An' someone wore me out las' night."

Sousuke laughed softly at that. "Hey, I didn't hear you complaining at the time. In fact, I believe you were the one who initiated."
Gin's only response to that was to childishly stick out his tongue and playfully tell his new hsband to shut up. Which of course only resulted in more of Sousuke's laughter as he opened the door.

"Well, after you," Gin said, gesturing to the door of their home. Fully expecting for Sousuke to go in first and follow the script like always.

But apparently Sousuke had other ideas. "No, not today," the man declared, promptly scooping Gin up into his arms and making the younger man squeak at the suddeness of it. Clearly meaning to carry him inside like he were a bride. Or a princess. Or a Princess Bride.

Gins face flooded with heat. "Wait, no! Wh-what're you doing?!" he stammered, sure he was blushing furiously now. "Y-ya don' hafta carry me, I can walk in myself! Put me down!"

Sousuke chuckled. "Hmm, nope. I don't think so. Besides, it's tradition to carry your new spouse over the threshold of your home after you marry."

Gin blushed even more furiously, though admittedly he was a little giddy that his partner had even bothered to learn about such traditions, let alone carry them out.

"Says who?" Gin spouted, face surely beet red now. Trying to pretend it wasn't something he'd ever thought about. Okay sure, Sousuke had carried him home before, but that didn't really count since he'd been injured at the time and couldn't really walk on his own.
This was... different. Entirely different.

Oh please, like you aren't enjoying it, Shinsou snarked, teading him as he always did when it came to Aizen. I saw all those daydreams about loverboy carrying you back in the day. You aint foolin' anyone.

Gin couldn't even dignify that with an answer without giving himself away, so he kept quiet. Thankfully his partner answered him before Shinsou could tease him further.

"Says centuries of tradition and records," Sousuke told him. "Now stop wriggling and trying to fight me so I can take you inside without dropping you."

"Yeah well..." Gin began, fumbling for an excuse and knowing none would fly. "Well ya coulda chosen a more dignified way ta hold me."

Sousuke stood, still holding him, and grinned. "Oh? Would you rather a fireman's carry instead? Because that's hardly romantic... or dignified."

Gin quieted his protests before they'd even reached his throat, thinking of the last time he'd been carried like that. It'd been on the battlefield, and a hollow had smashed him against a building wall, breaking the bones in his ankle in the process. Sousuke's first priority had of course been to get him the hell out of there fast. And so he'd hoiked him up over hs shoulder and ran for it. Flash stepping as he went. Gin bouncing along the whole way to the field medics like a sack of potatoes.

In the end Gin wisely decided he'd much rather be held safely and securely, with minimal undignified bouncing. "Actually, this is fine," he said in a small voice. Still blushing furiously. Clinging to his lover instead like some kind of Spider Monkey.

"I knew you'd see it my way," Sousue grinned at him like the cat that got the cream. And then he promptly carried Gin inside.
