Ding Ding Ding! The lucky winner is...MCSHIZZELSUPREME778! PM me for the details about your character! Also I'm a huge bookworm. I've always wanted to design a library, I guess this is my chance(even though it's only in my mind). Also, sorry for not updating in sooo long.
Disclaimer- I am born in the 2000s. I am not queen Rowling or uncle Rick.
Annabeth's POV
Architecture class was...interesting. For one thing, Professor Binns decided to delay the start of the class for five more minutes which means he now ten minutes late. At least that gave me time to talk the boy I crashed into, Remus.
He was quite interesting with a special sense of humor. He had a habit of always pushing up his glasses as he speak, partially due to his nervousness (body language told me he's not always this open to others) and partially because the glasses kept slipping off. It's sort of cute in an endearing way.
As classes went, it was okay. Professor Binns sure liked to drone on and on, but considering it's about architecture...I LOVED IT! We reviewed the basics and spend sometime talking about impressive architectural buildings in the world. I thought the Hagia Sophia was extremely impressive considering the weight of the dome. Remus liked the pyramids in Egypt (they didn't have machines or ramp. The rocks weighs about a ton!). Yeah, he's a history nerd. Just like me.
Hearing us talking passionately about architecture must've woke some of his teacher instincts and reminded him of why he chose this job in the first place, because professor Binns decided to have a debate next time to determine which is better. I can't wait for architecture class on Wednesday.
I had a free period next. So I decided to check out the library. My older brother Malcom, who was a Junior, had ranted about it the second he came home for the holidays.
Wow. Just wow.
The minute you enter the tall, double doors, you see more than five stories full of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves filled with books on every topic you can think of. Elevators powered by solar energy was scattered all around the main floor, used to help students access the books on the higher levels. The shelves were curved, wrapping around the walls of the library which are circular. Books are organized by Dewey decimal system, then ordered alphabetically by the author's name. There were five meeting rooms you can book, stocked with everything you need for a project from smart boards to a 3D printer. Over on the side, rows and rows of computers and printing machines were available for students to research on.
Sunlight streamed in from the glass ceiling, making it gleam like a gem. Leading up to the small balcony at the very top for students interested in astronomy was a circular staircase you usually find in lighthouses. The only difference was that the stairs were those floating kind that made Annabeth to stop and admire weight-support techniques used. The building it self was a mixture of Greek and Roman style, with columns surrounding the outside and arched windows. It looks kind of like a crossover between Mr. Lemoncello's library, the library in beauty and the beast movie, and the ancient one in Alexandria.
A place swimming in knowledge and books while being surrounded by different architecture styles from many different cultures...to me, this was paradise.
Piper's POV
I glanced at my watch. 10:45. I was early for my class so I decided to explore the building first. This building is dedicated to majors involving music. I've loved music ever since I was a child. My grandpa Tom named me Piper because he knew I would love to sing. I did, but that changed shortly afterwards. My father was an actor and my mom was a model, I knew what it's like to be under the spotlight twenty four seven. The stress and pressure that came along with the seemingly glamorous job. My parents barely spend any time with me. I began to hate being on stage, hate being under the spotlight, hate having to act properly in the public. That's why when I had to choose my career, I chose music producer, a backstage job.
I walked around the building, which have five floors divided into categories like- instrumental, vocal, recording... Deciding to walk around a little, I strolled through the instrumental section. Most of the students weren't there yet, so I was pretty surprised to hear someone tuning their guitar. Curious, I walk towards that room and pushed the door open. A blonde boy looked up.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. I just got here early and decided to explore the place a little. You sound very good by the way."
"It's okay," he shrugged, grinning. "My band mates aren't here yet so I needed someone to talk to."
"You're in a band? That's so cool! Being in a band has always been on my bucket list. Hey, I never asked what your name was. I'm Piper."
"I'm Will. What's your major? Do you sing? We need a lead singer. I'd rather die if I have to hear Kat sing again." He joked.
Before Piper could answer, the door burst open and a girl with pink highlights waltzed in.
"Speaking of the devil..." Will said quietly, rolling his eyes. However, the smile on his face showed how much he adored her. I wondered if they were dating, but my six sense told me something was off.
"Hellloooooo my fellow human beings! How are y'all today? Who are you?"
"My name is Piper and I assume you are Kat." I smiled, already liking this energetic girl.
"Yep! How'd you know that? Ohh, so Will told you about me. What did he say?" Kat leaned forward, evidently interested.
"That you are as annoying as hell and should be fed to the wolves." Will cut in with a mock serious expression on his face. We laughed at this.
"Very funny Will. Honestly go get your ears checked. I talking about me, not you." At this Will's smile faded.
"Hey!" He yelled as he smacked Kat who smacked him back. To prevent the to breaking out into a war, Piper changed the topic.
"So are both majoring in music?" Kat immediately turned back around(but not before poking Will one last time), interested in sharing her major.
"Well, my major is instrumental music but Will's is medicine. He's only minoring in music."
In the distance, a bell ringed. Had I really talked to them this long?
"Crap, I'm gonna be late! See you guys later!"
Nobody's POV(switch around a lot)
Lecture hall.
A lot of the students at HBU have government centered majors so this year, the school is providing a big class where the basics get explained, real government workers come and talk about the pros and cons of their jobs and give advice to people. People could make petitions (imaginary kind) about what they think should be changed in their government and debate about stuff like whether democracy or republic is better. If you're really interested, you could even join STUGO- the student government of HBU.
By the entrance, STUGO members were handing out flyers to those willing to join. Two dark haired boy stopped and accepted a flyer.
"Thinking about joining, Prongs?" Sirius asked casually.
"I don't know, mate. On one hand, ruling over the school sounds great. On the other hand, we'll have to do a lot of work and attend boring meetings." A red haired girl over heard and frowned at their words. Disliking their attitude m she decided to give them a piece of her mind.
"Like it'll be that easy for you to be elected president. Besides, STUGO is an republic. There is no authority figures dominating others here. And even if there is, you wouldn't be the one picked! With your big-headedness, the school would be a mess if you ran it!" On that happy note, she turned on her heals and stormed into the lecture hall, flyer clenched tightly in her hand.
The two boys stared after her.
"Wow! Look at her attitude. Remind me to never anger a red head." Sirius said, slightly shocked.
"I think she's in love with me." James said in awe. Sirius gave him a strange look.
"What makes you think that?"
Jason slid into a seat in the first row. Even in elementary school, he always liked the first row seats, preferably in the center. That way you can concentrate on the teacher without being distracted, take notes without being blocked by somebody's head.
Getting out a notepad so he could take notes, he accidentally knocked the pencil of the girl next to him off the table.
"I'm so sorry." He said as he reached down to pick it up, effectively bumping head with the girl who also bent down.
"Ow." The girl said rubbing her forehead.
"Reyna?" Jason asked, recognizing that familiar voice. He used to be best friends with her when they were little. And then teenage years came and both of them had their own ideas and styles. Reyna started taking interest in the women's shelter Thalia's helping in and Jason liked the different building styles of different cultures. That's why he chose to minor in engineering. Slowly, they grew apart.
"Jason? Wow, I almost didn't recognize you! You changed a lot." Reyna smiled at her old friend. "How 'bout we go get coffee some day and catch up on the old times?"
"Sounds great!" Jason grinned back.
"Do you mind?"
Kingsley nodded towards the empty seat beside the girl. He had another class straight across the campus before this and had arrived five minutes late. Due to the large number of students, the professors didn't notice his tardy or just didn't care. It made finding a seat very hard though. At first Kingsley was nervous to approach the quiet girl sitting there by herself, but he decided it was better than squeezing with the drunk kid, passed out on a row of seats.
"Oh, of course not." She removed her bag and gestured for him to sit, which he did gratefully.
"Thanks..." Kingsley trailed off, not knowing her name.
"I'm Gwen." She smiled shyly.
"Kingsley." He held his hand out for her to shake before realizing how stupid it looks and withdrew it while laughing nervously. Words cannot describe how glad he is when the lecture started and the attention was diverted off him.
"Wake up, Frank! Wake up!" Amelia Bones shook Franks shoulder as she shouted. They were childhood best friend and would still be if Alice hadn't moved into their neighborhood. Amelia didn't mind, she's not the kind of person that gets jealous. Besides, she was to busy being happy for them. It took her three whole month to get it in Longbottom's head that he should ask Alice out. Sometimes boys are just soooooo dense.
"Huh? Where are we, Amy?" Frank asked drowsily, not fully awake yet.
"We're in the lecture hall, you idiot. Class's about to start soon!" Amelia shook her head at Frank's antics.
"Ohh, oh right." Frank rubbed his eyes and yawned. "I forgot."
Amelia facepalmed. Boys are hopeless, she decided, always are, always will be.
