Segmentum Ultima, near the Fenris system
Garett's fleet arrived shortly after resupplying and departing from Armageddon. Near the Fenris system, Commissar Yarrick's fleet orbited a barren desert planet. His troops have been conducting constant military drills, preparing them for the eventual battle against Ghazgkhull's WAAAAAGH! The Inquisition fleet joined orbit around the planet and merged with Yarrick's fleet. The two flagships docked with each other. A docking bridge extended from the Inquisition Flagship, connecting to the portside of the Vessel of Superiority. Both Inquisitor and Commissar met face to face with each other in the Slayer's Vengeance's hangar bay.
Garett's team are away doing their own business; Leaving him with the newly formed Kill-Team to train. They are currently training in the simulacrums and mostly exploring the ship. They are young and inexperienced. He had different personnel train them further for the upcoming battle against Ghazgkhull. Garett always expects a fight always waiting to happen every time, making him constantly vigilant of unexpected threats.
Back at the hangar, Garett and Yarrick introduced themselves to each other and exchange pleasantries.
"It is an honor to meet you, Lord Inquisitor." Yarrick greeted him, "I thank you for the aid you provided me on my hunt for Ghazgkhull."
"To you as well, Commissar." Garett said, "It falls under my duty to exterminate every last Ork in the galaxy."
Yarrick's eyes drifted towards the humanoid bipedal mechs standing in the hangar, supported by metal scaffolding.
"New weapons of the Imperium, I suppose?" Yarrick inquired, "Seems like what a Tau would use..."
"Yes, these mechs are made from the data of captured Tau Battlesuits and the Techpriests reverse-engineered their technology into making one of our own." Garett explained, "This is merely the first of many and more will soon follow."
"I'll be looking forward to it." Yarrick said, looking at them, "These mechs seemed able to serve a purpose outside the military."
"Care to elaborate?" Garett asked, "What uses can a mech serve the general populous?"
"Many things!" Yarrick exclaimed, "They can be used for construction, farming, hauling cargo in ship bays, and many others!"
"Hmm..." Garett wondered, "I'll keep that in mind for the Techpriests to think over for potential variants."
"You're welcome!" Yarrick said, "Lord Inquisitor, how goes your crusade in the Eastern Fringe? Has it been cleaned of the vile greenskins' taint?"
"Indeed, it is." Garett said, "The Eastern Fringe has been wiped clean of Ork taint. The Astartes and the Imperial Guard are performing cleaning sweeps to ensure no remaining Orks survive."
"That's excellent!" Yarrick exclaimed, "Soon, the Imperium of Man will have one less enemy and the God-Emperor shall praise us for our triumph!"
"The Emperor Protects, Commissar." Garett said, "I plan on retiring from my duties as Lord Inquisitor once all Orks are exterminated from the Imperium."
"I share the sentiment." Yarrick said, "Once Ghazgkhull is slain, I'll get my well-deserved retirement back on Armageddon. And probably get a job as a military instructor in a schola."
"What are your plans, Lord Inquisitor?" Yarrick asked Garett, "What will be your life once your crusade of vengeance is fulfilled?"
"A simple life on an Agri-world with a childhood friend." Garett said, "I made a promise to return once my duty's been fulfilled.
"An admirable goal, Lord Inquisitor." Yarrick said, "I hope you see it through."
"Many thanks, Commissar." Garett thanked Yarrick
Suddenly, the alarms blared loudly and red lights flashed throughout the battleship. Garett and Yarrick swiftly returned to their respective battleships. Guardsmen immediately manned their battle stations, anticipating an incoming enemy fleet. The ship's crew went on high alert as the captain issued orders to prepare for battle. Garett arrived at the Helm and asked the captain in charge of operating the ship.
"Captain, what's the situation?" Garett asked
"Milord, our sensors are detecting multiple ships entering Realspace!" the captain exclaimed, "It's a whole fleet! We're detecting forty ships in total!"
"Captain, we had a visual!" one of the helm crew shouted.
Garett and the rest of the helm's crew looked out of the helm's windows and see ships exiting the warp. Red ships made from scrap and junk with the distinct possibility of collapsing yet they held. Just from the ships' design, Garett knew they were Ork ships, presumably Ghazgkhull's WAAAAAAGH!. The Joint-Imperial fleet of Garett and Yarrick consisted of 25 ships. They are roughly outnumbered by 2 to 1. But in Garett's mind, superior numbers don't mean anything when tactics are in play. Yarrick appeared before him in a holographic screen, transmitting from his personal battleship.
"Inquisitor Hawkins, I have a favor to ask." Yarrick said, "Let me face Ghazgkhull on my own. I want to settle my rivalry with him once and for all!"
"Granted." Garett agreed to Yarrick's request, "Ensure the Warboss is dead and the Flagship destroyed! The Emperor Protects!"
"The Emperor Protects!" Yarrick said as the transmission ended.
"All ships! Open Fire!" Garett commanded. The fleet's weapon batteries fired upon the Ork fleet as lasers and shells impacted the Ork ships. Fighters lauching from the hangar bays, intercepting enemy Ork fighters. Boarding torpedoes fired from the Ork ships impacted the Void shield of fleet; Some pierced through the shield and penetrated the ships' hull. Guardsmen, Techpriests, and Space Marines fought off the Ork boarding parties with fierce resistance as more Orks boarded the ships. The Zaku I mechs flew into battle with vernier thrusters burning bright and armed with upscaled Guardsman weaponry. They mercilessly tore through the Ork vessels as they battered it all with lasers, missiles, and chainswords. The Vessel of Superiority charging forth towards the largest ship in the Ork fleet, Ghazgkhull's battleship. Multiple vessels followed it as it met the Ork battleship side by side. Space Marines began boarding the battleship as they pierced through the scrap hull and fought off the Orks. Guardsman followed soon and behind everyone else, Commissar Yarrick stood.
With his Bolt pistol and Ork Power Claw, he shot and tore through countless Orks as the battle became more chaotic. With Garett, he and his Kill-Team had assembled and were fighting off the Ork boarding parties. Every Guardsman and able bodied personnel on the ship took up arms and fought off the intruders to the best of their mettle. Bolters, lasers, rockets, and bullets whizzed past each other as humans and Orks shot at the other.
Matt, Natalie, Lance, and Anna, alongside Fiddler joined the battle the moment the intruder alert went off. Matt charged into battle with his large Chainsword and strength, hacking, slashing, and smashing Orks that dared to venture into the Imperium's holy lands. Natalie utilized her Pyromancy to burn the Orks into smoldering piles of ash. Lance killed scores of Orks with his Gunblade and Lascannon, providing close-range and long-range support while directing the team on the shifting battle. Anna shot Orks dead with her bow as her arrows hit them between the eyes and stabbing closer ones with a machete; Fiddler sliced through bands of Orks with his Scythe-like claws as he feeds upon their corpses. Their simulacrum training and their mentors' teachings paid off as they exterminated the green tide off the ship, making sure to burn the bodies afterwards. Ensuring the spores within the Ork bodies propagate. Even Sara joined them, alongside her colleagues from the Munitorum; All armed to the teeth with Lasguns and Lascannons taken straight out of the ship's armory. They fought with sheer zealotry as the teens heard Sara screaming loudly about how her only day off was taken away, blaming the Orks for it. The teens quietly promised each other to never anger a lady like Sara Ragsdale...ever.
Back to Yarrick, surrounding him were Space Marines and Guardsmen fighting Orks, he marched through the green tide as his forces pressed onwards, seeking the infamous Warboss. They are suffering losses yet they push onwards; Their morale and resolve holding strong as Yarrick led them through. Soon enough, a large force of Ork Nobs collided with the Imperial Forces; And at the center of it was none other than Ghazgkhull himself. Both Commissar and Warboss are face-to-face with each other. Ghazgkhull smiled at the sight of Yarrick. Both forces fought as their leaders stared down the other.
"Long time no see, Yarrick!" Ghazgkhull bellowed out, "How'z ya doin'!? Iz veen a looong time since we 'ad a good scrap!"
"To you as well, Ghazgkhull..." Yarrick replied, staring directly into the Warboss' eyes, "I'm sorry to say that this will be our last battle together."
"Wot!?" Ghazgkhull yelled out in shock, "How'z dare you say dat! I enjoyed our foights together and you said dat dis will be da last foight of our lives!"
"Indeed!" Yarrick exclaimed, readying his Ork Powah Klaw and Bolt Pistol, "I regret that this will be our last fight together! But Fret not! For our final battle will be remembered for all eternity before our Gods!"
"HAHAHAHA!" the Warboss bellowed out laugh, prepping his choppa and shoota built into his cyborg body, "Then let it be our final foight and with the Emperor and Gork and Mork as our witnesses!"
"FOR THE EMPEROR!" Commissar Yarrick charged towards the Warboss, his bionic eye glowing bright red, "DIE, XENO!"
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Ghazgkhull charged forth towards the humie with each step rumbled the metal floors.
As they got close, both clashed as their weapons locked against each other and parried each other's strikes as sparks fly. Yarrick and Ghazgkhull laughed out loud together as they fought. Enjoying their final moments together fighting until one stands and one falls.
Slayer's Vengeance
Back at the Inquisition Flagship, the Orks have been exterminated from the ship entirely. Space Marines and Guardsmen sweep its halls for remnants and stragglers as the ship's crew strengthened the Void Shield, ensuring no Orks can pierce through it. Emergency Hull repairs are underway as the battle went on, carried out by Servitors and Techpriests. The two Kill-Teams, Garett's and Matt's, joined up together as the battle for the ship died down. Both are recuperating from battle as they clean themselves of Ork guts and gore. They conversed with each other while heading up to the armory to restock munitions. Walking down a massive hallway that barely fit the Catachan Devil.
"How's yer first taste of battle, young 'uns?" Barry asked, taking a gulp out of his gourd.
"It's... exhilarating." Matt answered, taking a breath before speaking again, "It was just like the simulacrum!"
"It was!" Lance said, "I got to say... The Orks make good test dummies for my new weapons. I am looking forward on testing future weapons on them."
"It feels exciting!" Anna cheerfully said, sitting on Fiddler's head, "It's fascinating to see one up close after killing it!" The Catachan Devil munched on an Ork Nob with its mandibles as it was held by its scorpion-like claws.
"I share the feeling with Matt." Natalie said as she wrapped an arm around Matt's left arm, clinging on to him, "It was very exhilarating killing Orks together."
Matt smiled towards her, patting Natalie's head. Natalie savored the feeling, laying her head on his shoulder. Matt savored Natalie's comforting presence, walking together arm-in-arm.
"Ah, young love..." Barry thought before speaking to them, "Glad to hear it! This will only be the first of many battles ahead! Always be ready for it!"
"Yes, sir!" the teens affirmed to the veteran Squat.
"What do you think, Inquisitor?" Barry asked Garett, "How was their performance in combat?"
"Acceptable, yet there's room for improvement." Garett bluntly stated his opinion, "They still have much to learn until they are truly ready to face Orks as an effective Kill-Team."
"The archery skill of the Catachan really impressed me." Nao remarked, "And a good choice of an animal companion. Well... insect in this case."
"I heard a Catachan Devils' carapace is resistant to Bolters and Lasguns." Bangle said as he stroked his scaly chin, asking Anna, "Is that true?"
"Somewhat..." Anna said, reluctant to answer the lizard xeno.
"Are there any injured?" Yui asked the group, "If there's any, I can help."
"None so far." Lance said as he looked over the others, "We'll let you know, Sister. We appreciate your concern."
"Thank you." Yui said, "It my sacred duty to ensure His warriors live to fight another day."
Garett and the others stopped in their tracks as another alert blared through the ship. Garett received a transmission from the ship's captain.
"Lord Inquisitor, another xeno fleet dropped into realspace!" the captain franticly said into the Vox.
"Ork?" Garett asked, wondering if it one of Ghazgkhull's fleets.
"No, Milord... Worse." the captain said in a fearful tone, "Necrons..."
Garett's eye widened in shock and surprise. Necrons in this sector?! Then he remembered a particular Necron Overlord back on Solemnace, feeling his fists clench hard.
"Garett, is something wrong?" Yui asked, concerned, "What did the captain said?"
"Everyone..." Garett said in a serious tone, drawing his Plasma Pistol and Power Sword, "Another Xeno fleet arrived!"
"What Xeno is it, Lord Inquisitor?" Matt asked as Garett looked back to him
"Necrons." Garett bluntly said to everyone's shock, "Get yourselves rearmed. They'll be coming for us."
"What made you sure they're coming for us?" Nao asked Garett.
"Remember the one who made us museum pieces..." Garett asked his team and their eyes widened, remembering the one that imprisoned them.
"Re-arm yourselves. We'll handle them." Garett looked to the four teens, "You four, assist with the ship's defense."
"Sir, we can help!" Natalie spoke up, "We can handle the Necrons much like the Orks."
"Yeah! Aren't they just skeletons with menacing lasers?" Matt said
"No. They aren't like that." Garett said, "Their weapons can turn you into dust in one shot and their bodies are resistant to most weapons the Imperial Guard wield. Do you want to feel your own body being molecularly disassembled before your eyes?"
"N-No, sir!" Matt said, "But still!"
"No! That is final!" Garett said, gesturing his team to follow. They complied and followed him. Matt wanted to speak up but Lance placed a hand on his shoulder, silencing him.
"Matt, let it go." Lance reasoned with the blonde Guardsman, "There's no point in reasoning with a Lord Inquisitor like him. Especially one from the Ordos Xenos."
"Alright..." Matt agreed as Lance took his hand off his shoulder, "I really wanted to see a real Necron."
"Matt..." Natalie called out to him, "I'd rather not see you foolishly charge into the firing line of Necrons. And you know what he said, this is the Necron Lord that made him a museum piece. And I'd rather not have you be their prisoner, not after we just reunited. Emperor be damned if that happened."
"Okay, I'll stay by your side." Matt said, wrapping an arm around her waist which got the Psyker blushing, "After all, I am your faithful knight."
Natalie smiled at his action, wondering how much had he grown and what part of him still remained childish, a part of him that she loved. Lance coughed into his fist, catching the duo's attention.
"We should go." Lance suggested, "You will have the time to bond once the battle ends."
"Yeah!" Anna exclaimed, "You lovebirds can bond later! Let's go! We have Xenos to slay! Onwards Fiddler!"
Fiddler's mandibles clicked as he skittered down the halls with his owner on his head. Lance followed as he kept a distance from the insectoid. Matt and Natalie followed soon after, walking arm-in-arm together with the Pysker's head laying on the Guardsman's shoulders.
Ork Flagship
Ghazgkhull and Yarrick's battle still went on as Orks and Space Marines kill each other around them. As they strike and parry the other's attack, a green beam of energy suddenly shot through them, barely missing the two as it grazed their faces, halting their battle. Their head turned to see an unfortunate Ork die as its body was molecularly disassembled, reducing them to dust. The two then turned their gazes into the new arrival. Before them and their forces were Necron Warriors, accompanied by Immortals and Lychguard. The skeleton warriors kill and capture both Imperial and Ork forces within Tesseract Vaults. Both glared at the Necrons as they looked at each other again.
"Truce till all the Necrons are dead?" Yarrick asked the Warboss, readying his Powah Klaw and Bolt pistol
"A'ight, till the Dead boyz are krumped!" Ghazgkhull agreed, raising his choppa and klaw, "BOYZ TO ME! WAAAAAGH!"
"GUARDSMEN! SPACE MARINES!" Yarrick called out to his forces, "EXTERMINATE THE VILE NECRONS! FOR THE EMPEROR!"
Both leaders charged forth into the Necron force with their armies following them into battle. The hasty and uneasy alliance between Ork and Imperial fought the Necron warriors with ferocity and zealotry. Necrodermis against Adamantium and Scrap Metal. Necron Warriors fighting hand-to-hand with Guardsman with their Axe-bayonets and Chainswords. Space Marines and Orks dismembered and smashed Necrons apart. Lychguard and Astartes fought head on as Hyperphase blades and Chainswords locked together in combat. Orks pulled the skeletons apart with bare hands as teams ferociously pulled them apart and using their Necrodermis limbs as makeshift clubs. Humans and Orks fought together what seemed to be a first, much like how General Sturnn of the 412th Cadian Shock Trooper Regiment entered a temporary alliance with an Eldar force during the recovery of a downed Imperial Imperator Titan Dominatus on Lorn V.
Outside in space, Orks ships and Imperial Navy vessels turned towards the Necron Tomb-Fleet; Weapon batteries firing wildly. Zaku I Mechs attacked the Tomb ships alongside Ork and Imperial fighter craft, fighting fiercly in dogfights against Necron Doom and Night Scythes.
Trazyn the Infinite
Trazyn, alongside four Lychguard serving as bodyguards, inspected the mechs' design. He then pulled out a Tesseract Labyrinth and placed it below the mech. The cube expanded and enveloped the mech, shrinking shortly after it encased the mech inside. The Overlord picked it up and placed it in his personal pocket dimension.
"Another fine piece for my collection." Trazyn said to himself, "This will be a new display within the Imperium Weapons Exhibit."
His Lychguard took a shield wall formation around him, sensing a hostile presence. Trazyn looked over to who stepped into the hangar bay. He smiled with his non-existent mouth, seeing the ones who he had been hunting for the past few years.
"Slayer, it has been years since you've left my gallery!" Trazyn exclaimed, "How wonderful of you to come to me..."
"Shut your voice box, Necron!" Garett shouted, accompanied by his party with their weapons drawn and primed, "Your millennia-long kleptomania ends today! And you will pay for all the stolen lives you took."
"A bold statement..." Trazyn said, tightly gripping his Emphatic Obliterator staff, "You truly don't understand what I sought to do."
"What I did maybe seen as theft in your eyes; But my work has always been of preservation." Trazyn explaining his motivation, "Slayer, all the races of this galaxy will one day die and we Necrons will be all that's left. I dedicated my millennia long life's work to preserving, cataloging, and restoring many artifacts and races of the galaxy."
"We Necrons also have our own history filled with rivalries and mystery; fully preserved within my gallery." Trazyn continued, "I lived long to witness the Emperor's Great Crusades and the Horus Heresy unfold before me. Lived to see the rise of the Aeldari and Drukhari, fought them in many wars. And assisted the Archmagos Dominus Belisarius Cawl in the Battle of Cadia; In fact, I was at Cadia to witness its fall... Sorry, its destruction, since it did not fall and it broke before the Guard did, yadda yadda yadda..."
"It doesn't matter how long you've lived or how much you've stolen." Garett said, energizing his Power Sword and Plasma Pistol, "You will die like the most insignificant Grot in the galaxy."
"But that won't happen for I am Infinite." Trazyn remarked, "Besides, I have something very personal to you..."
"All things that I held dear from my childhood are dead..." Garett said, except for Brittaney, "What else is there that's attached to me? All of it is dead..."
"Your sister..." Trazyn said, shocking Garett, "Your dear sister is alive..."
"You're lying..." Garett growled, aiming his Plasma Pistol, "She died centuries ago..."
"But she didn't for I was there when the Grotz attacked your village." Trazyn revealed, surprising Garett, "When the Grotz finished pillaging, I saw your dying sister and took her back to the gallery, restoring her to full health. A close associate of mine, Orikan, looked into her past and the future, revealing that she was related to you by blood. Decades after, I witnessed your growth into the person you've grown to be, Goblin Slayer."
Garett was silent for a moment as his team was concerned about what the Archaeovist said.
"If you were to surrender, I'll gladly reunite her with you in my gallery." Trazyn offered, "Her restoration neared its completion and soon reunited with her long lost brother..."
"Do you accept, Slayer?" the moment Trazyn finished speaking, he felt a Plasma ball scorch his Necrodermis skull, leaving a black mark on his cranium, taking a step back. Looking towards the Inquisitor's smoking Plasma Pistol, his team ready to attack at any moment. Lychguard powered their Hyperphase blades and brought their Dispersion Shields forward.
"No." The Lord Inquisitor refused, "I will not be part of your twisted museum. And if you're speaking truth, I will reclaim my sister from your imprisonment."
"FOR THE EMPEROR!" Garett charged forth with his team, meeting the Lychguard head on.
"Capture and immobilize them!" Trazyn ordered his bodyguards, "Any damages done can be reversed in restoration!"
The Lychguard obeyed and set their Hyperphase blades to its lowest settings, affecting flesh and blood only. Trazyn met the Lord Inquisitor head on, their weapons clashing against each other. The two traded strikes as each tried to take advantage over the other.
Garett shot three Plasma balls towards the Overlord, scorching and leaving black spots on the necrodermis body. Trazyn knocked the pistol off the Slayer's hand with a swing of his staff. Garett two-handed his power sword and swung at the Necron, striking the body and leaving a small mark. Trazyn countered by swinging his staff which was parried by Garett's sword. Trazyn punched the Slayer in the gut with his metal fist, making him step back. He followed up with a strike to the head with the lower tip of his staff. Trazyn can't risk using the power of the Empathic Obliterator without killing his prize. Garett regained his posture and thrusted his sword forward. Trazyn parried it and redirect the sword with his staff. The fight went on for minutes and both aren't giving
The Lychguard and Garett's Kill-Team fought. Nao shot adamantium arrows into its body, embedding into its body. Yui had a bolt pistol and shot the Lychguard she's fighting and blocking its blade with her force staff. Barry fired his Shotlas but his shots were blocked by the Lychguard's shield; When they got to close combat, Barry pulled out his adamantium-reinforced Gourd and pounded the Necron, bludgeoning it. Bangle locked blades with a Lychguard, roaring as the Chainsword and Hyperphase blade made sparks.
The fight ended between the Overlord and the Inquisitor as Garett embedded his sword diagonally into the Necron's torso with an overhead strike. His Lychguard destroyed by the Kill-team. Riddled with arrows and bolters, decapitated, and bludgeoned to death. Trazyn fell to a knee as the sword embedded into his body. Green sparks fickle inside his body as his body tried to repair itself. He looked up to see the Slayer glaring at him. He choked out a laugh at his defeat. His staff disappearing into his pocket dimension.
"Well done..." Trazyn coughed as his optics flickered, "You have beaten me...But this will not be the last..."
"I will return another day, Slayer..." Trazyn said, "And you... will be part of my gallery..."
"And you will die over and over again in your pursuit of preservation." Garett put strength into his sword, slicing the Overlord in half. Trazyn laugh as his soul transformed into a Necron lord on his flagship. The body he previously possessed reverted into a Necron warrior, surprising the Imperial Kill-Team. Soon, Trazyn found himself back on the Lord of Antiquity, the body of a Necron Lord altered itself into Trazyn's form.
"You win this day, Slayer!" Trazyn said, "I'll be waiting for you on Solemnace!"
Trazyn laughed loudly as he concentrated his forces on the capture of Yarrick and Ghazgkhull. Suddenly, their alarms went off and a Necron Cryptek sent an urgent message to the Overlord.
"Milord!" the Cryptek shouted, "A Warp Storm is coming! It's engulfing the system!"
"What!?" Trazyn exclaimed, looking out into the viewing window as he saw the incoming purple storm, "Grrr! Pull back our forces and jump back to Solemnace! We'll capture them another time!"
"By your will!" the Necron Cryptek said, issuing orders for the forces to pull back to the Tomb-Ships. The Doom and Night Scythes entering the Tomb-Ships as their Inertialess Drives went to full power. Turning towards the direction of Solemnace, they jumped and left the Fenris system.
"Soon, slayer, soon..." Trazyn said as he warped back to Solemnace.
Slayer's Vengeance
Garett received the Warp Storm alert from the ship's captain. The captain had already alerted the ship and the entire fleet, including Yarrick's. Alarms blared and lights flashed as personnel prepared to face the oncoming storm. His party knew what was going to happened and went to their quarters to hunker down. Garett went to the helm and saw most of the crew frantically operating the ship as the storm came closer.
"Status report?" Garett asked the captain, "How's the situation?"
"Gellar Fields are up and holding!" the captain answered, "Warp Storm is fast approaching! Most of our forces had pulled back and took shelter."
"Lord Inquisitor! Commissar Yarrick's fleet and the Orks were engulfed by the Warp!" Garett and the crew saw the two fleets consumed by the Warp.
"Everyone! Brace for it!" Garett shouted, "May the Emperor protect and guide us!"
"The Emperor protects!" the crew echoed as the ship rocked from the Warp's hold. The Psykers on the fleet felt their connection to the warp grew stronger and fight off the Chaos Gods' temptation. Rachel and her team felt the whispers grew louder and their resistance weakening, feeling their mind slowly taken over by Chaos. The ship's captain clutched his head and screamed as his eyes and mouth glowed as the warp consumed them. Garett drew his Plasma Pistol and blasted their head, turning into charred flesh and molten sludge. Garett shot the captain five more times in the body to ensure they are truly dead and the rest safe from possession. After killing the possessed captain, Garett sat at the captain's seat.
"I am taking command of this ship!" Garett announced, utilizing his authority, "Navigator! Helmsman! Get us out of here!"
"At your command, Lord Inquisitor!" the Navigator and the Helmsman obeyed. The Slayer's Vengeance flew through the warp and the fleet followed, Gellar Fields holding strong as countless Daemons attacked them. They fought back as their weapon batteries opened fire on all directions, an all-out shootout as Daemons are picked off by the fleet's defenses.
Hours passed as the Inquisition fleet flew through the Immaterium with the fear of being trapped looming over them. It felt like an eternity as the concept of time does not exist within it. By the Emperor's guidance, the Navigator found an exit. Garett commanded the fleet to full speed ahead towards the rift. Their thrusters burned bright and blazed through the Warp and into the rift. Returning back to Realspace, the crew breathed a sigh of relief and thanked the God-Emperor for his guidance.
"Fleet status?" Garett asked the Techpriests and the crew, "Are all accounted for?"
"Affirmative." a Tech-Priest answered, "Running ship diagnostics... Complete. Hull integrity is at 70%. Gellar and Void fields are at 60%. All ships reporting in are stating no strange activity within them."
"Thank the Emperor..." Garett said, "Where are we?"
"Running long-range scan..." another Tech-Priest spoke up, "Picking up several Imperial vessels and an unknown planetary system near our present location."
"Report from the Astropath." a Tech-Priest presented the report, "They are saying the stars are not in their correct alignment and the Astronomican's light is faint."
"Elaborate." Garett inquired, "Contact the surrounding Imperial vessels and chart a course towards the nearest habitable planet."
"By the Emperor's will!" the crew obeyed and the fleet flew towards the nearest habitable planet. By their arrival, they see a lush green world with a diverse ecosystem, comparable to a paradise world by their scans. Not before long since their arrival, several Imperial vessels arrived near the planet. The ships consisted of an Ark Mechanicus, two Oberon-class battleships, multiple Civilian Freighter Voidcraft bearing the Adeptus Ministratum icon, and an Adeptus Astartes Battle Barge of the Salamanders Chapter.
"Lord Inquisitor, the Astropath has provided an explanation for their report." one of the crew read the report, "They cross-referenced the star's alignment with our records and our chronograph... By the Golden Throne..."
"What is it?" Garett asked, "What has the Astropath reported?"
"Lord Inquisitor... We may have gone back in time..." the crewman announced which got a reaction from many until they were silenced by Garett.
"How far did we go back?" Garett asked, "When are we?"
"By the Astropath's calculations, about 300 years back." a Tech-Priest read out the report, "M41.999. The time of the Despoiler's 13th Black Crusade to Cadia!"
"Impossible! This must have been the Emperor's Will!" a crewman shouted, "He sent us back to prevent the Despoiler from invading Cadia!"
A few more shouted about why or how they have travelled back in time until all have been silenced by Lord Inquisitor Garett. The communications between the Imperial ships were frantic at most with the captains demanding where they are. Once again, all were silenced by the Lord Inquisitor as he presented his rosette to which all knelt before him, respecting his authority. Garett questioned each of the captains of their events leading up to the present. What shocked him the most was the Civilian Freighter Voidcraft were from Kommicus V. The ships' captains explained that a Chaos invasion force attacked the planet and most civilians were evacuated before Chaos consumed the planet. His mind wondered if Brittany was among the survivors, but turned his attention to urgent priorities. Garett turned turned his attention to a Tech-Priest.
"Send down Servo-Skulls towards the planet!" Garett ordered, "I want this planet searched for life. There is a distinct possibility this is a Feudal world."
"By your command." the Tech-Priest obeyed, fiddling with the control panels. Outside of the ship, three pods containing Servo Skulls launched from the ship. Entering the atmosphere, the pods' heat shield protected them from atmospheric re-entry and crashed into the ground. The Servo-Skulls flew out as the pods opened and begin transmitting back to the Inquisition Flagship. The video feed showed lush forests and different environments from where each had landed. After a few hours, one saw the beginnings of a civilization. The Servo-Skull flew overhead of the village, providing a bird's eye view of a small town that seemed too familiar for Garett. Garett's eyes widened from shock as he slowly stood up from his seat.
"No...that's not possible..." Garett slowly said in shock, "How in the Emperor's name is it still here?"
From one of the screens, a Feudal village is seen with many inhabitants all too familiar to him. And within the streets, as the Skull zoomed in, was none other than himself; Wearing his steel/chainmail armor and his own party.
Either by the Warp's machinations or the God-Emperor's guidance, the Lord Inquisitor has found himself back on his homeworld. A world with an unforeseen apocalypse only he and his team knew. And as for what will happen, may the God-Emperor grant them strength and vision for the future. For in the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, There is only war.
