Chapter Six: An Unexpected Friend
The four have encountered a fire breathing dragon, who acted very aggressive towards them. Knuckles jumped of the back of the dragon, after Sonic was in position to hopefully give the signal.
"HEY, OVER HERE!" Sonic yelled.
Sonic then placed his arrow on the bow, the one he lit on fire, and he shot it in the air. The dragon heard the arrow being fired, and turned around, and faced Sonic. The dragon noticed that he was the one who fired the burning arrow into the air, as the smoke left a trail.
"OK, Amy, get ready. Wait till the dragon gets directly above the canyon. When it does, paralyse it above the canyon." Sonic told her.
"I got you." Amy told him.
The dragon gave a furious stare at Sonic. Then the dragon roars loudly, and breathes fire into the air. After the dragon roars furiously, the dragon then spreads its wings, and takes flight, and dashes towards Sonic.
"Not yet, Amy." Sonic told her.
The dragon was getting very close to Sonic, and Amy.
"Keep waiting." Sonic told her again.
The dragon was now just above the canyon.
"NOW!" Sonic called.
Amy then raises her hands, and auras were flowing out of her hands, and the aura touches the dragon, and the dragon was stopped in its tracks. No matter what the dragon tried to do, it could not budge.
"Sonic, I got it! Do what you have to do next. But be fast, I can't hold it much longer!" Amy pleaded.
"Will do! Tails, Knuckles, I need your help over here!" Sonic called.
"On my way!" Tails called.
"I'll be right there!" Knuckles added.
Tails and Knuckles made their way towards Sonic, and stood next to him.
"OK, I need your help here. We need to pour all these heavy boulders on top of it!" Sonic explained.
"This will be a challenge, but we better do it now!" Knuckles mentioned.
"And make it fast. I think Amy's losing her energy for this." Tails stated.
"Men, hurry up! I can't hold this any longer!" Amy yelled.
Without hesitation, the three men pushed with all their might to get the boulders to fall. But no matter what they did, it wouldn't budge.
"It's no good, it won't budge!" Tails stated.
"There goes that idea!" Knuckles added.
"Guys, we have to keep trying! If we don't, we're done for!" Sonic pleaded.
They pushed harder and harder, the boulders started to slightly budge, but Amy grew very exhausted, she couldn't hold the dragon much longer, Amy then started to faint, and the aura disappeared. The dragon broke free, and roared.
"AMY!" Sonic exclaimed in fear.
"Sonic, go save her! We'll keep pushing!" Knuckles told him.
"NOW!" Tails snarled.
Sonic nodded, and quickly ran towards Amy, and he just got there in time, and caught Amy as she fell. The dragon can now move, but suddenly, Tails and Knuckles got the boulders just close enough to the edge, that all the boulders just fell off the edge.
A lot of heavy boulders landed on one wing, and the other boulders missed the dragon entirely. But it was just enough to pin the dragon to the bottom of the canyon. The dragon roared in fear. Tails and Knuckles cheered, and ran back towards Sonic and Amy.
"Princess Amelia, are you alright?" Knuckles asked, as she regained conscious.
"Yes, I am alright. I'm sorry, I couldn't hold on." Amy sadly stated.
"It doesn't matter, we got them." Sonic told her, as he smiles.
Amy smiles back, and Sonic helps her stand up. They all looked down the canyon, and saw the dragon struggling to break free from the heavy rocks.
"Well, at least that's that problem dealt with." Tails mentioned.
"Yep, no longer a threat to us." Knuckles added.
"Well, I guess it's time to go, and continue the adventure." Sonic added.
Everyone nodded, and started to make their way. That was until Amy heard the dragon made a sad sounding roar. Amy then stopped, and turned made her way back towards the canyon, and looked down at the dragon. The three turned to face Amy.
"Amy, what are you doing?" Sonic wondered.
Amy looked down towards the dragon, and gasped in surprise. She saw there were sad tears flowing from the dragon's eyes. She never expected a ferocious beast like a dragon to cry like she and everyone else does.
"Men, we can't leave the dragon like this." Amy stated.
"Your Highness, with all due respect, this thing tried to kill us!" Knuckles mentioned.
"But look at her, she's defenceless! And she's crying as well. A monster wouldn't cry, she didn't understand that we weren't trying to harm her." Amy told them.
"But, Your Highness..." Tails started.
"Let her go." Sonic stated.
"What?! Sonic, are you crazy?! This dragon tried to kill us!" Knuckles told him.
"I know, Knuckles. But as Amy said, she didn't know better, she was brought up with a family of dragons, they are known for people to be enemies. Maybe if we free her, it'll give her a change of heart. And will see that we are not as bad as they believe we are." Sonic explained.
Tails and Knuckles looked at each other. They both sighed nervously, but they both nodded agreeing with this situation.
"Alright. But if this dragon starts attacking us, I will have no hesitation to kill it!" Knuckles warned.
"OK, Amy, go and help her." Sonic smiled.
Amy smiles back, and she jumps down the canyon. Amy then slowly raises her hand up, and slowly approaches the dragon. The dragon, still shedding sad tears, roaring sadly, as she watches Amy approach her. Amy gently places a hand on her snout, and pets her gently.
"Easy, sweetheart. I'm not here to hurt you. I'm gonna get you out, alright?" Amy gently tells her.
Then an aura forms around Amy, and it lifts the boulders that trapped the dragon's wings. After the boulder were removed, she then placed a different kind of aura on the dragon's scarred and bruised wing. The scars and the bruises slowly disappeared. The dragon roars happily.
"You see? Not here to harm you. These men won't harm you either. You come out of this pit, we can no longer be enemies, but we can be best friends." Amy happily stated.
The dragon then bows her head down, which is a sign for Amy. Amy then uses this opportunity to climb onto the dragon's back. After that, The dragon flies out of the canyon, and lands next to Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. Then the dragon bows her head again, allowing Amy to climb off her. Amy then pets her snout again, and she kisses her on the nose.
"Thank you." Amy thanked.
The other three guys also slowly walked towards her, and they all petted her.
"Ah, you know, she's not as bad as we though." Knuckles surprisingly stated.
"You're right about that." Tails agreed.
"We need to give her a name. And I believe I have one for her. We shall call her, Ember." Sonic stated happily.
The dragon now known as Ember happily roars.
