They spent the day going through several different places on the boardwalk. Luz's favorite place, was an arcade that Luz won a small, purple, plush cat. They were currently walking on the beach, towards a large rock.
"Dad, what are we doing here?" Luz asked.
"I wanted to bring you to this place, it's special." He said, touching the rock, "This is where I proposed to your mother."
He started to think about that day. They were young... okay they weren't that young, Camila herself was in her thirties, but they were free, they could do whatever they wanted.
Two people, one in swimming trunks and one in a bikini were walking towards a rock.
"Honey, Where are you taking me?" Camila asked.
"Somewhere, Darling." He said.
He motioned for her to follow him. She placed her hands on her hips and rolled her eyes.
"I thought we agreed that today would be a nice calming day at the beach. No problems, no work, no... anything." Camila said.
"Don't worry, Camila, we'll have our beach day in a minute, I just want to give you something." He said.
"What is it?"
"Camila, for the past four years, we've been together. You have been with me for some of the hardest parts of my life. I can't imagine being with anyone else." He got on a knee and pulled out a ring, "Camila, will you marry me?"
She looked shock and had to wipe tears from her eyes. She nodded and kissed him.
"I also have a surprise for you. I was afraid you would be horrified, but now, it only seems appropriate." She put his hand on her stomach, "Say hello to your child."
"Y-y-you're... you're pregnant?" He said.
She nodded.
"I found out last week. I'm three weeks along."
He started giving a surprised laugh.
"This... this is the best day of my life."
He looked at the rock and walked around the rock and saw a heart carved in it, with the initials A+C. He smiled and rubbed Luz's hair.
"Your mother and I would spend many days here."
"Do you ever wish you could go back?" Luz asked.
"To back before you were born? No. No, I wouldn't. I want you here next to me." He said, "Also, your mother was terrifying when she was pregnant with you."
Later, the sun set and the moon was out, illuminating the water. They watched a firework go off and light the sky. Luz looked at her dad, which didn't go unnoticed.
"You need something?"
"I was just wondering. You said, you had a brother, do you have any other siblings?" Luz asked.
"Well, I have a younger sister. We talk once and a while, but we live on other side of the country, and she moves for work, so I haven't seen her in a couple years."
Eventually, they were back at the mansion and Luz was being carried to her bed, because she fell asleep in the limo. He put her down on the bed and put the blanket over her. He kneeled next to her bed and smiled.
"I know you're faking." He said.
Luz sat up and looked at him.
"I just wanted to know what it's like for a dad to carry his daughter to her room." Luz said.
"You didn't need to fake sleep in order for that to happen. You could've just asked."
"I wanted some accuracy."
He laughed and kissed Luz's head.
"Goodnight, Princess."
Luz managed to fall asleep pretty quickly, today really did take a lot of energy out of her. It was around midnight when her hand started to glow purple for a second.
