BPOV

Dad and I have now lived on the reservation for around nine years, I still remember the end of the world I used to know but it simply hasn't reached this part of the world yet, they haven't recovered enough to come anywhere close to our little town. There were a few times that Sam had to run off to protect the tribe, but he never told me what he was doing, where he was going only that he would return to me, and of course for me to stay out of the forest.

So, I did, without question because I'm the imprint, I'm destined to be his forever, why would I cut that time short by doing something stupid like running into a forest only to be eaten by a bear. Dad took the job as being the peacekeeper in our tribe, that meant dealing with stupid teenage kids being idiots. More often than not dad would 'arrest' a friend of mine, and I'd get to know all about the stupid things they'd say why they were drunk off some homemade alcohol.

I went to school with the other kids, they didn't like me too much. I kept to myself too much or the boys were terrified of Sam turning into a wolf and wanting to eat them. I laughed the first time Jacob told me the story of the first time I'd met him; he was genuinely worried Sam was going to kill him.

We became kind of friends after that, he appreciated the different kinds of books I had brought with me, but also the types of things I knew from the schooling system from my old home. They focused more on the tribe here, the history of the tribe and descending from wolves, the future and how we can protect the land. I was more excited for when we got to pick our trades, I knew being an author wasn't going to be a trade, and I didn't want to write letters or draw maps, so calligraphy was out of the question.

I watched Sam working on building sites most of my free time, everyone was used to me following him around. I worked on my homework whilst he completed odd jobs around the town or building new homes. My favourite time was him working on building the blacksmiths work site.

Sam introduced me to Adriel, he was around 25 years old who completed an apprenticeship under the old blacksmith and when he passed away, he took on ownership. I was around nine when I looked into helping out in the smithy.

Sam wasn't completely against it; he was worried I'd accidently trip and fall into some molten metal, but I took to it really well. It was hard when creating weapons for the hunters to shape the metal but over the years I'd gained a lot of muscle to help. I didn't look like a small gangly girl anymore but a lean woman who could work just the same as any other man.

My time was spent more in the smithy than watching Sam work, so when Sam didn't have work on, he was in the smithy with me watching me work with Adriel. Both men got along really well with one another, something which I was really thankful for.

We'd also shape parts for the mechanics so they could work on the cars and keep them running, meaning Jacob and I started to spend more time with one another outside of class. This didn't please Sam, but he also didn't say anything. It was coming up to my 18th birthday when Jake actually came into the smithy.

Jake was now around 6'3" only a little shorter than Sam, but was taller than Adriel by a bit, where Adriel had thick muscles running through his arms and back from the amount of work, he's done over the years shaping metal. Adriel had his arms crossed over his chest as Jake came in with his chest puffed out and heading in my general direction.

I was currently polishing up some of the swords that Adriel made the other week when I saw Jacob was stepping from foot to foot with his hands running through his hair. "Uh hey Bella." I put the sword and polish down and stood in front of him. I didn't make it up to his chin with our heigh difference, so I had to look up.

"Hey Jake, got a new order for the shop?" I walked past him to behind the counter grabbing the order notepad.

"Uh no Bella I don't." I put the pad down and titled my head slightly whilst looking at him.

"Then why are you here?"

"I was wondering… ifyouwouldliketogoonadatewithme?" The words were spoken so quickly it sounded like one word entirely. Adriel burst into laughter but was quickly silenced when I glared at him, I turned back around to Jake with a look of confusion and disbelief.

"Um… No Jake, I don't want to go out with you." I crossed my arms in front of my chest just the same way I'd seen Sam do when dealing with a difficult Paul.

"But Bella… I really like you." He was blushing brightly.

"Well Jake you're a nice guy, I consider you a friend, but I'm not interested in anyone other than Sam…" I tried to be nice, I really did but he wasn't really taking no for an answer, I could hear Adriel still laughing.

"But Sam is too old for you."

"He doesn't age Jake; our bodies are only a few years difference at the moment. It doesn't matter anyway; I don't want you like that Jake…" Deciding the conversation was over I began to turn away from him when he reached out to try and grab my arm. Adriel took that moment to come back out the front and quickly grabbed Jake's hand stopping him from touching me.

"Jake, she said no. You may be the chief's son but when a lady says no, she means it." He pushed away Jake's arm and glared at him until he left the store, I stood next to him.

"I was afraid for these years." Adriel joked.

"What years?"

"The years of teenage boys becoming interested in you, hell Sam is going to go insane." He laughed loudly as he walked away only to have Sam come into the store with a very curious expression on his face.

"What is Adriel laughing at?"

"Go on Swan, tell him." His mocking voice came from out the back of the store.

"Tell me what Bella?"

"Jake came in." He raised an eyebrow waiting for me to continue. "He asked me out." Adriel knocked something over in the back and was laughing harder now, I turned around and glared at him. When I turned around to look at Sam a flash of rage, disbelief and humor crossed his face one after the other. "Sammy?" He grabbed my hand and lead the both of us out the shop and into the forest a little bit before turning around and leaning down slightly to look me directly in the eye.

"Bella, what did you say?"

"I said no?" I knew I looked confused, but I couldn't understand why he'd even ask me.

"Why?"

I wanted to smack him for being stupid. "Why do you think Sam?" I put my hands on my hips and looked at him. "Sammy… You're my everything." I poked his chest softly.

"Bella…" His voice broke slightly before he stood straight and pulled me tightly into him. "Bella, I love you." I felt his lips on the top of my head.

"I love you too Sammy, I would never date someone else when I have you." He pulled away for a moment and started to lean down towards me when suddenly Paul came crashing through the woods.

"Holy shit Sam did you hear Jake swearing his head off?" He was laughing right until he saw the way we were standing, then he went bright red in the face and tried to turn around. I stepped away from Sam and went to Paul.

"What did he say Paul?"

"Something about how Sam is messing his shit up and how he saw her first. I laughed my ass off when he saw me, and the blood basically drained from his face." Paul was laughing again.

"I saw her first anyway." Sam came behind me and leaned down to kiss my cheek before heading back towards the shop, suddenly we heard screams coming from the town. Sam looked at me before grabbing me over his shoulder and running back to the shop dropping me on my feet, shifting suddenly and running into the town.

Paul had already shifted and raced towards the screams, Adriel came bursting out of the shop with a bow and arrow for both him and me before we quickly took off in the same direction. We weren't nearly as fast as shape shifters, but Adriel not only trained me with metal work, shooting arrows for hunting but running without tripping over everything.

When we got to the town Sam was flanked by Paul and Jared, we saw two people standing in the middle of the town they were white as snow, their skin glittering in the sunlight. What made me look at them with fear was the bright red of their eyes. What were these creatures?

Adriel and I looked at one another before stepping into the sunlight to stand on the edge of the tree line closest to Paul. Sam didn't turn towards me, but I saw his eyes glance in my direction before turning back to the creatures who were standing as still as rocks staring at Sam.

"Werewolves…" The male's voice was like a melody, it was soothing to listen to.

"Who knew they still existed." The female shrugged her shoulders and looked to the male.

The wind blew past whipping my hair across my face, they both immediately turned their gazes to me. "She smells wonderful." The male inhaled deeply; the female titled her head slightly whilst looking at me.

"James… She's protected by the wolves."

"It would be a fun game… Do you think we'd win?" Sam growled at their words, no doubt they were discussing ways to kill me. I got an arrow out of my quiver, the boys had a nasty habit of knocking their teeth out whenever they wrestled even more so when they were wolves. Sam said we should keep the teeth and try to turn them into arrows. I didn't understand why he said it, but he only said I would know when it's time to use it.

I also kept a lighter and lighter fluid in my quiver for these moments, again another requirement for hunting on Sam's list. I gave Adriel a look which we practiced meaning he would light my arrow at the last possible moment, we practiced quick shots nearly every day for a month when I'd gotten bored of general archery.

I knocked my arrow and the male actually laughed and turned to look at the woman no doubt mocking me. The boys rumbles and growls burrowed into my body as I loosed the arrow, Adriel timed it exactly right and arrow lit on fire.

The look on his face as the arrow embedded itself into his chest, the scream that happened when the fire began to light him from the inside out was deafening, the woman was screaming her eyes turning back as she turned on me. Sam leapt at her in the last moment when she charged at me, each of the boys ripped pieces off of her, it screeched like metal as it was torn off her.

When there was only parts of a body left Adriel lit another arrow and set her aflame. I was looking down at the male who I shot watching his body burn purple with flecks of ash drifting in the sky. Sam changed from his wolf back into the man I'd come to love, he wrapped an arm around me and watched the flames.

"How did you know…"

"You told me many years ago when I started making this arrows that I would know when the right time was, it felt right. You also weren't stopping me; I trust the wolf baby." He kissed the top of my head.

That's when Jake came charging down, he was angry as his feet stomped into the earth. "WHAT THE FUCK SAM." Sam stared down at him, resignation on his face that's when it dawned on me that the gene that changed all my boys was changing Jake. He was destined to join the pack.

"Jake." Sam was not biting into the anger that was pouring out of Jake, Paul was beginning to tremble slightly as he was fighting shifting, I knew better than to intervene in this moment. Sam began to push me behind him incase Jake shifted and hurt me.

Jake was trembling violently now, I could see his face morphing between wolf and human, he was growling and snapping at Sam. I began to back away from them, Jake was the first wolf I was going to see to change for the first time and it wasn't something I wished on my worst enemy. He seemed to be going through a tremendous amount of pain.

Sam tried to push him away from me, causing the final push for his shift. Jake was no longer standing there but instead was a large russet coloured wolf. He began to writhe on the ground letting out a whine, Sam quickly dropped his shorts and shifted as well. They were communicating between themselves.

Sam had helped all the boys with changing back, he never told me what he did because it was different for every wolf. They were all so focused on Jake and helping him that they didn't notice the last creature we failed to kill.

I felt cold rock-hard hands grab me around my neck, Sam turned suddenly and howled as he realized what had happened. I got a look at the arm holding me it was a darker skinned creature, but still had the paleness that death gave them.

"Mu, my, my… You seemed to have killed my coven." The man whispered into my ear.

"They were posing a threat to my tribe." I whispered.

"All they wanted was a little meal… How is that a bad thing?" His voice was soft.

"Killing humans seems like a bad thing to me."

"That's a pitiful way to view it. Do you not kill the deer for food? It's the same for us dear one. Tell the wolf to back off."

"Sam, hold on." He growled no in response.

"You know these wolves; the alpha has a strong connection to you. If I promise to leave you alone will they let me go?" I knew the question wasn't posed to me, he was watching Sam. The creatures fingers began to dig into my neck making it difficult to breathe.

I don't know what took over my body, but it felt as if everything inside of me began to boil. My back arched violently against the creature and I screamed out as I felt every bone inside my body begin to break. I could see in my mind how it was changing, morphing into a wolf. I don't know what happened afterwards, but I woke to Sam standing over me in his wolf form.

SPOV

Having Bella go past the trees knowing those fucking vampires were standing there was driving me crazy, I wanted to pick her up and take her home, but I knew that the vampires posed the biggest threat. Having Paul and Jared flanking me means she was as safe as she could be at the moment. Having her home could mean one we didn't know about yet could get her… I couldn't risk it.

"She smells wonderful" I growled when I heard his words.

Fucking bloodsuckers Paul was seething.

"James… She's protected by the wolves."

DAMN FUCKING RIGHT

PAUL SHUT UP

"It would be a fun game… Do you think we'd win?" I let out a snarl at his words, shifting slightly in front of her, something he didn't miss. I heard Bella start prepping to shoot an arrow at him, hopefully she was smart enough to be using the ones made from our teeth. They would pierce their skin.

He laughed at her when she began to shoot at him, something I knew would infuriate her beyond belief. She aimed directly for the middle of his chest, but as she was letting the arrow go Adriel managed to light it on fire effectively taking out the male in one go. They would never stop the fire once it was inside of them.

Holy shit… I can't believe that worked.

Me either Jared… We all stared as the flames began to flick at his skin ignoring the screams the accompanied it. The woman I was more focused on she was screaming at the loss of her mate; she knew not to get too close, and she knew she couldn't stop it at this point. When he leapt towards Bella, I jumped intercepting her.

We made quick work of the female, tearing her apart and letting Adriel set her aflame, I shifted back and went to stand beside Bella while she watched the male being burnt to ask. I placed an arm around her and stared into the purple flames.

"How did you know…" I looked down at her only to see the flames reflecting in her eyes.

"You told me many years ago when I started making this arrows that I would know when the right time was, it felt right. You also weren't stopping me; I trust the wolf baby." I kissed the top of her head and inhaled her scent again keeping the wolf at bay.

I heard Jake approaching before I heard him yelling, I looked at Jared and Paul, Jared looked as resigned as I did. We knew this was coming, Paul was still riding on his anger from earlier no doubt close to shifting. When Jake got in my face I tried to be as calm as possible, Bella was too close to him. I said his name as calmly as I could and used a free hand to keep Bella behind me.

Thankfully, she didn't fight me and when I felt her begin to back away from us, I gave Jake a not so gentle push which literally pushed him over the edge as he began to shift into his wolf. I gave a quick look behind me seeing Bella was safe, dropped my shorts and shifted myself.

I saw a large russet wolf writhing on the ground where Jake once stood.

Jake, you need to calm down.

It hurts so much!

I know Jake, I know it hurts. You need to try and calm down, you're too close to humans to be shifting uncontrolled.

Oh god! Bella! I saw in his mind the image of Bella being held at the neck by another vampire, I instantly turned and began to stalk towards him the wolf demanding his head for touching her, for even thinking he had the right to touch her. I ignored their conversation he was toying with her, the growls never letting up.

"Sam, hold on."

Fuck no I will not fucking hold on.

Sam, he said he'll let her go if we don't kill him. Jared was trying to keep the peace; he was trying to think through the best options to get Bella back without him hurting her.

I will kill that fucking leech if it's the last thing I do on this earth. I snarled in response.

I felt her body begin to kick into overdrive, the heat radiating from her body similar to the heat that came off Jacob just as he was about to shift for the first time. I watched as her back arched so violently it almost seemed to break in several parts as she twisted and turned out of the vampire's grasp. He let her go and jumped away from her watching with curiosity.

Her scream was deafening,

KILL THE LEECH NOW I ordered as Paul, Jared and Jake attacked him, he saw it coming and ran as fast as he could, but he was no match for us. I heard them ripping into his flesh as Bella writhing on the ground transformed into a perfect white wolf with black fur encasing her paws. I stayed next to her the entire time waiting for her to open her eyes.

When she did, they were a perfect green colour, they contrasted against the pure white of her fur. Bella….

Sam? What happened?

You changed baby, you changed into a wolf. I showed her an image of the wolf I saw before me; I felt the pure excitement rush through her as she jumped up and began to walk around in a circle trying to see herself.

Oh god, now a chick is going to see my most inner thoughts Paul complained.

Paulie? Is that you?

Yeah duckling, it's me. You're going to see some disturbing shit through my minds eye. You're going to have to learn to ignore it. The boys came back, and Paul was silver next to Bella's white, she was the smallest out of us all, but that doesn't mean she'll be the weakest.

I already knew you were a freak; it'll just be having confirmation now. Everyone but Paul let out a laugh that was more bark than anything else.

Everyone shift back into human form please, now Jake and Bella… When we shift back, we don't have clothes on… So now we have a girl amongst us who is my imprint if I have to remind you… Keep your eyes to the ground and away from her. Don't make me order you.

Oh sweet, I'm going to see Bella! I snarled at Jake.

Oh, dude no, she's our little sister. No one wants to see that but Sam. No offense duckling.

I don't want to see your ass either Paul, no offense taken. I'm going to run home and shift back there. I'll have clothes.

I'll come with you babe. Together we left towards her house, she was a natural in her wolf form jumping over rocks and streams with ease, she reminded me of a puppy with how excited she was to see how fast she could run. When we got to her home Charlie was in the driveway already informed of everything that had occurred, only Billy was standing next to him. I gave them both a nod and took Bella towards the back yard.

They aren't happy.

It's not you babe, it's just unheard of an outsider shifting too. We're just curious. Now to shift back, you need to picture yourself as a human and force that image over your body. The spirits do the rest for us. I felt her concentration take over and watched her shift back into a human, I did it at the same time, so she didn't feel so awkward. Like a gentleman I didn't look at her whilst she was vulnerable.

Thankfully, Charlie had already gotten a towel out, so I held it out for her and made sure she was fully wrapped up before chucking on the shorts I kept hidden in her backyard.

"That wasn't so hard, it didn't hurt." I wrapped my arms around her pulling her into me and kissing the top of her head softly. Since she shifted, she'd grown a few inches, so she was settling against my chest comfortably.

"It stops hurting after the first shift, it's like the spirits make us pay a price before granting us the strength and speed to kill our enemies."

"Who were they?" I took her hand and lead her inside telling her to get changed and meet us outside. It was better to tell her what she was now forced to do outside where she wouldn't rip apart the house.

I went out the front and shook both men's hands. "Sam, is she okay?"

"Yeah Charlie, she's fine. She's a beautiful wolf don't you think?" Both men nodded and we watched as Bella came out in a summer dress. Her jeans probably no longer fitted her.

"Hey dad, Billy." Bella ran up and kissed her dad's cheek and then waved to Billy. She settled back into my arms as Billy explained the legends of the wolf to her again. She already knew we shifted, we lived forever until we had no need for the spirits anymore, that we remained at the same age until that time. She took it really well.

"Bella, it means you're part of this tribe in a way you didn't before… You're not only the alpha's imprint but you're part of our pack. You're a defender of the people, as such you can't leave these lands." She merely shrugged.

"Where else was I going to go? This world has gone to the shithouse, I never wanted to leave Sam anyway." She looked up at me and I smiled. It was nice to be loved by her, it was perfect in every form she gave it. "So, dad since my body is forever stuck at 26ish, does that mean Sam and I don't have to wait to date until I'm 18?"

My mouth popped open as I looked to Charlie, he had gone red in the face a vein throbbing in his forehead. He calmed down in the nick of time. "Bells, I just wanted you to remain an innocent little girl…."

"But I change into a badass wolf now daddy, I'm not a little girl at 25 anymore." Her hands went to her hips as she pushed me away from her slightly.

"Bells you're still under 18. The original rules are going to remain whilst your under my roof." Charlie was getting annoyed, Billy tried to intervene. Bella was starting to shake so I grabbed her around her waist and threw her across the yard just as she exploded into her wolf.

"Charlie, you need to go inside now." He nodded and went inside Billy remained outside.

"She's beautiful Sam… Quite a temper though." Bella snarled.

"ENOUGH." Billy snapped making Bella whimper, I rolled my eyes and kept my arms crossed over my chest. "Listen here Bella. You may be the imprint to the alpha and soon to be the alpha's mate. I am chief making me the top dog around here. My command works just the same as the alpha's." She was forced onto her belly in a sign of submission, Billy turned away from Bella and went inside.

Bella stood up shakily and I coaxed her to change back into a human after I ran inside and got another dress for her, this time I got a glimpse of her body accidently, I saw her perky breasts and found myself forcing my eyes away from her.

"Are you calm now?"

"Yeah Sam… I'm just annoyed." Tell me about it, my mate is now the same age as me, over the age of consent and I still can't claim her… Fucking parents.

"I know Bella, but it's Charlie's house and he's your dad…"

"Does that give him right to just tell me what to do with my body?"

"Look babe, my mother passed away before I was 18 so I didn't have this issue. The guys I know their moms don't care what they do… As long as they don't bring home pups."

"I guess… Look I just want to go on a date with you without worrying about whether dad's going to shoot you." I laughed.

"good thing about being a wolf, we heal super quick." I hugged her tightly to me and after a while I was able to coax her inside the home and into the living room with Charlie and Billy.

"Look Bella… I was wrong… I just worry about you; I don't want to lose my little girl."

"You won't lose me if you give me enough freedom to make my own choices dad."

"fine, then I agree you and Sam can start seeing each other… I guess I can't stop you anyway seeing how you're a supernatural wolf and all." She laughed and hugged him tightly before launching herself at me.

We ended up knocking over the lounge with the amount of force she hit me with. Charlie forced us out of the house exclaiming we'd break something if it kept up. So, I showed her how to carry her clothes as wolf by using the small elastic we keep around our legs that expands around our legs as a wolf.

She was excited to get out into the forest without me getting cranky about something hurting her and watching her run through the forest wind blowing through her fur was mesmerizing to watch. WE chased one another all over the forest, she chased after rabbits and foxes, deer's and even managed to scare off a bear.

I merely followed her and let her have her fun, after being in the one place for so long she needed to experience a level of freedom. She was yipping as she jumped over rocks, streams, and animals. That's when we heard the sound of a car in the distance, Bella stopped moving entirely harnessing on the sound.

What is that?

It sounds like a car Bella.

Not one of our cars though… Where are we?

It's near a town that was called Port Angeles. Why?

Let's go look. So, we stalked closer to the sound and found a small group of people getting out of their car into a home that looked freshly built, only they resembled the creatures that we had only recently killed this morning. Bella began to snarl as she stalked closer to the targets.

One of them suddenly stiffened and turned towards us, speaking something to the other creatures. They all stopped and looked at our direction remaining as still as they possibly could.

What are they doing? She looked from me to the strange creatures. My eyes stayed on the one that looked like he was built bigger than myself in human form, maybe not as tall but definitely thicker.

I don't know… Stay here. She lowered herself to the ground and crept a little closer but remaining in the shadows as she watched.

I stood at my full height and stood at the edge of the clearing. "He's the alpha of the pack." A bronze haired boy began to speak

"Hello there, my name is Carlisle, I'm aware that your land is close to where we are living. I promise you we do not hunt on humans only on animals, so we are not a danger to you or your family." The blonde-haired vampire seemed too friendly; it was unnatural.

"He thinks we're strange." I glared at the boy, he could read minds as the thought occurred, Bella thankfully was remaining silent. "There's more than him near us." Well, there goes the element of surprise.

"Please, we are no threat to you or your families." The man held his palms open as a sign of good will; I didn't trust it. The images of the three vampires coming to mind.

"The pack killed James's coven. They were feeding on the townspeople." I heard Bella growl at the bronze haired boy. He turned to the noise and titled his head as he searched for her, I growled again. "I'm sorry, I'm curious what the other wolf looks like." He shrugged.

I'll fucking show you vampire. Bella fed up with being out of the picture shifted back into her human form quickly dressed and walked out to stand beside me. Her hand resting on my shoulder whilst I growled at them.

"What is your purpose for living here?" I kept my eye on the bronze boy who was staring at my Bella with undisguised lust.

"We all have a purpose in live, ours is to enjoy all the world has to offer."

"I agree with you there vampire. Your eyes are all yellow meaning you feed on animals is that correct?" They all nodded. "Then I will advise my chief and he will make the final decision to what happens from here." I nodded; we cannot decide to make an exception for these vampires.

"Could we meet your council and perhaps talk with them?" The blonde asked again.

"That is not for us to decide."

"But you are the alpha and the alpha's mate." I bared my teeth at the boy, he didn't even bother looking at me.

"Listen here boy, just because you can read minds does not make it polite to blurt out whatever you hear."

"I can't hear you though…" He began to step forward before the giant vampire grabbed onto his shoulder with enough force, I heard cracking.

"Are you stupid Edward? Advancing on a wolf?" I snarled loudly and the boy finally looked up at me and saw his death.

"You'd be smart to listen to the big one boy. I will advise our clan you are here, and they will make the final decision." I watched as she turned back to the leader. "If you could answer a question, I'd be grateful."

"Anything for you." The boy spoke, I had to roll my eyes at the comment, which most of the vampires did as well.

"Yes miss, I will answer what I can." The blonde leader spoke ignoring the outburst.

"What is the rest of the country like? I arrived here just as the world was ending and people vaporized, I'm not sure what else has happened since…"

"Oh, well… Some humans survived; we don't know why they weren't killed. No side effects seemed to have occurred as a result of being left alive. We approximated that at least two thirds of the population of the world was killed instantly. Many vampires died as a result they began to fight over the left-over humans, killing one another in the process. We always lived off animals, so it wasn't an issue for us.

America is slowly forming a government, Seattle at the moment is untouched as only a few humans survived and were unable to do anything to support themselves, some travelled outside of the area and were either killed by other humans fighting over supplies or died of other causes." The leader shrugged.

"Thank you for that information." She turned and went back into the woods shifting to a wolf again, I backed away from them but never turning my back.
