Chapter 6

The look in Mathias eyes made the General nervous, his voiced cracked a little when he spoke, "what do you think is going to happen to the girls?"

"We only capture Grisha and then take them back for trial but these men (he spat at the dead Fjedran) they have already whipped Nina and Alina I'm afraid what they are doing to them now"

The General looked around and saw he only had a few soldiers not injured, Mathias kept going, "There was 4 Fjedran left at the farm house if we grab some horse and a healer (the healer stood up and said "I'm coming") we can rescue the girls."

Jesper stood up as well as he was going to help to, the General asked, "what about the others" as he looked at the other 3 who were still out.

"Leave them at least one of them will interfere" Jesper replied.

"Mal?" the General asked

"Yer" Jesper replied

The General order his guards that weren't coming to take the cart back to the Inn they were staying at and wait til they return. As the rest managed to grab horses from somewhere and headed off to the Farmhouse.

Back at the Farmhouse Alina and Nina were strapped to the table, Alina was so afraid she hope that her babies would survive whatever was going to happen. She looked as Nina they both had tears down their cheeks, Alina closed her ears and called out to the Darkling. She felt him, "Please come and rescue us" she asked and heard back "I'm coming my sun"

Allow a sudden Alina whimpered in pain as a knife was dragged down her arm she could hear Nina protesting.

"Please don't hurt me" Alina pleaded with the guard.

"my little sun summoner" he sneered "they told us to capture you alive they didn't say in what conditions we are going to enjoy this like the whipping we gave you."

The guard cut further into Alina arm and she cried out, another guard began to do the same to Nina and run a knife over her body.

Several hours later the General, Jesper, Mathias, Patty (the healer), another healer and 4 other soldiers arrived at the farm house. The 2 guards patrolling were taken out quickly by Mathias and Jesper shooting them as they got off their mounts. Mathias was too anxious to get back to Nina as he was concern he would find her torture or dead. The General had also jumped off his mount when 2 other guards came running out they had guns and begun to shoot out at their unwanted guest. The Grisha hid in the tree whilst waiting for the run out of bullets, when the lull happen the General got up and sent 2 cuts to the guards killing them.

Mathias walked up behind him noticing there was blood on there body where it shouldn't be and cried out "Nina" and ran to the farm house the General join him in running.

Jesper spoke up to the healers, "Go with them you may be needed" the girls ran leaving Jesper and the other guards to move the dead.

When the men arrived they went to respective partners Nina who was still conscious, "They hurt us Mathias they cut into us. They were trying to get any information out of us that could help them win the war and then they found out Alina was pregnant and were trying to cut into her belly. Please save them she will be devastated if she has lost them"

Mathias and Nina look at Alina who was out cold and the General who was tearing up, he has one hand on her face the other on her belly. "Them? He asked crying

"General she is pregnant with your twins" Nina replied and passed out.

The healers had finally arrived and started to work on both girls Mathias holding Nina's bloody hand and the General crying on Alina's head.

30 minutes later Nina was healed but scared Mathias then moved her to a chair and covered her with a blanket so she would be near Alina, so she can give support whilst he went off to fetch food for everyone and replacement clothes for the girls as theirs had been rip apart.

Patty had been working on Alina had a lot more work to fix Alina they had hurt her badly but shortly after Mathias left the room Alina breathed, "Darkling" and she opened her eyes

"Alina" he breathed kissing her forehead and then lips.

She could feel his tears on her and when he released their kissed she smiled at him, "you came" and she started to cry.

"I told you I would" he place his forehead against hers. He moved off her to turn to the healers

"Sir she has lost more blood than Nina but will recover, she has her scares but a tailor will be able to get rid of them"

"And the babies?" Alina asked

"I can hear both heart beats" Nina replied and Patty continued, "there is no sign of miscarriage, but for now I suggest we stay here then move tomorrow but I rather Alina not ride"

"Thank you" Alina sobbed and closed her eyes

The General nodded and the other healer said, "Sir maybe I should ask 2 of the guard to head back to get the cart and bring it back for the morning"

The General nodded and thanks both healers. Mathias walked back into the room, "I have cooked soup for everyone and found some clothes."

Nina got up smiling at Mathias, "Thank you" she said and hugged him, he hugged her back and kissed her on the head.

Alina started to fall asleep again, "Alina darling I need you to eat."

"I'll bring a bowl in and see if she will eat. Then the is a bedroom where she can stay with you for tonight"

"Thank you Mathias"

The General managed to get Alina to eat the food then picked up her sleeping body and took her into the room that Mathias was talking about. Leaving a candle with her in case she woke up, the General walked back into the kitchen area where a soup bowl had been placed for him.

He grab his spoon as the other were eating as soon as he took his first taste he put his spoon down and said, "This is wonderful Mathias"

"Thank you General my mother taught me how to cook" Mathias replied

"So did my mum but nothing this good" both men smiled

"General what is the plan after we get back to the Capital?"

"we have a boat Nina to take us home and now that includes Mathias if he wants to join. And yes I will protect him at the little Palace as I want your scaring to be fixed. Plus if the other 4 want to join they can come home to" looking at Jesper who was eating in the corner

Jesper smiled and nodded

The healers looked at each other and smiled maybe there could be an end to this war they thought

"Thank you General, but I should warn you the others don't know about Alina's pregnancy and her and Mal weren't getting along in the end"

"I never did like him but I will let her sort him out unless it stresses her to much and the babies"

"He isn't going to be happy, but are you happy General?"

"I should be telling Alina this but yes I'm very happy"
