I fetched three large leaves and some vines, and made a bag. The first thing you should know when living in a rain forest: how to make a bag out of anything. I filled the bag with fruits, and in a secret inside pocket I made myself, I placed the unity fruit.
I then launched myself into the sky. yes, the sky, not the rain forest. I flew up into the open air, and sure enough spotted a group of dragons winging away to the west. I had warned mother that I might be a while, so we had arranged to meet at the first mountain by tonight. I beat my wings furiously, willing myself to go faster, because I wandered off course quite a bit.
In the end, I gave up and simply followed them, without wasting my breath to let them know I was there. "This. . .has got. . .to be. . .the most tiring. . .day. . .of my life," I said to myself between wingbeats.
it was much too long before we landed in a little valley at the foot of a small mountain. I circled up to the top, and took in the view. The distinguishable two points of Jade Mountain stood high in the distance, and if you looked closely, you could see small shapes flying in from all directions.
The other students. My stomach jumped with both anxiety and excitement, and I wanted to stay up there looking at my future, but my mind detected worried thoughts from my mother down below, so I glided down, and landed in front of her, giving her a shock. "Oh, dear there you are. I think we have just enough time to make it before sundown. I brought some flowers from the science lab, so they're those ones that last for a year. Here you are-" she handed me a bunch of rain forest wildflowers-" and here is a sack of light globes, with a cutting so you can grow a sapling. I will come visit you every month, and. . ." Harmony wandered off, still ranting about her arrangements.
I, however, wanted to get to my school. I jumped into the fresh air, and everyone else followed. I slowed down, and paced myself the same as my father, Peacemaker. I wanted to talk to him. "Hey, big dragon. Excited?" He grinned.
"Yes. Father, I got lost on my way to visit Hope and Moon, so when you get back, please ask them to forgive me that I didn't manage to stop by. I'm sure that Moon will be rather hurt, and Hope will wonder where I am," I asked him, pouring out all my worry into those few sentences.
"Of course my little one," he replied reassuringly, and I relaxed.
"Father, when we started this conversation, you called me your big dragon, and now you're saying I'm your little one!" I laugh, letting every worry drift out of me. I lose my concentration, and have to think of rain in the rain forest, slipping each annoying voice into a raindrop so that they burst on the ground, like Moon taught me to do. I normally do it unconciously, but sometimes my concentration decides to fly away, and I am forced to close my eyes and send everything into the droplets.
So it wasn't long before be landed on Jade Mountain. We were here at last.
